Haha haha they call the New German sub, a 20 years old player, baby of the squad. While for Nigeria it is the 20 years old that are carrying the team: Iheanacho, Simon, Awaziem, Etebo, Ndidi all 20. Iwobi 21. |

TheSuperNerd: Another VAR madness on display...
Mistaken identity. Siani wrongly red-carded at first... but red card decision reversed and Mabouka red carded for a high foot challenge to the thigh on a German player.
I hate VARs....
Even with the VAR, Ref still go red card the wrong person in the first place!!!!
And Now Germany makes it two thru Timo Werner. Fine finish. The ref was clearly more interested in the decision without paying much attention to the player that committed the offense. |

Lazyerudite: Delivery from the set pieces have not been too accurate and they can't seem to cross the ball well. Bassagog has potential but his final decision reminds me of one certain 'Ikedia' Bassogog full of energy but not much of an intelligent player. He fails when he needs to make that final tactical decision. But all the same he is still a major threat. |

TheSuperNerd: How Cameroun is not one or two nil down now is quite surprising. Germany have had the best chances.
But Bassogog have been lively a few times shaa... but that German leftwing back, Plattenhardt, is really policing Boassog. Hector didn't even start.
Germany playing three at the back with Kimmich and Plattenhardt as wingbacks (right and left respectively).
Cameoroun work the balls very well to the edge of the opponent's box especially from Bassogog's wing but their problem is finishing and decision-making in the final third. That is the issue in their attack. But remember... this is Germany. Very strong opposition even with their youngsters on display. This Bassogog is no flash in the pan o. I thought he could be this type of one tournament player like Emenike. The guy is bossing things here o. His threat is for real. |

TheSuperNerd: Akpeyi Out In The Cold As Carl Ikeme Returns For Eagles Tie Against Cameroon
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_3084.jpg
Daniel Akpeyi future in the senior national team is seriously in doubt following the return to training of first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme ahead of Nigeria’s tie against Cameroon in the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers.
Akepyi broke into the team and won the trust and confidence of coach Gernot Rohr ahead of Dele Alampasu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa in the absence of Ikeme, but after the 0-2 loss against South Africa, Akpeyi was faulted for the goals conceded by the Nigeria media.
Rohr confirmed after the game that Ikeme’s return will no doubt see him reclaim his number one shirt for the clash against Cameroon, and it appears he is well on course to be back for the game after his injury troubles.
Ikeme missed the end of the season games for Wolverhampton Wanderers last season due to injury, but he recently post pictures of himself closing in on a return as his team get set for pre season training.
His return will no doubt leave Akpeyi’s future in doubt, because as suggested by Rohr, the Chippa United ace didn’t cover himself in glory in the games he kept goal in Ikeme’s absence.

TheSuperNerd: Even now I know you are still kinda conservative about our most promising youngsters and I understand why. You have watched Naija footie for years before I was even born and seen it all in terms of super talents.... how some rise for a while and then fade... how others show fine/great promise and then die off... and how only some rise and go on to be stars.
This is what informs your views sometimes and I understand.
As the arch-guardian of the halls and leagues of experience, why do I expect you not to watch and, with your big goggles hanging on the bridge-tip of your nose, say the following:
"Hmmmmm... make we see wetin this one get.... Let us see if he has the potentials to " be there yet"....
*And stroking your Wise old Beards of experience as you watch and keenly observe*
"Wicked" elders!
But in all.... Your views are well noted.
Thank you again and you are welcome O ye Arch-Guardian. Haha haha. I Don see players o. But if really ask me Iheanacho is not doing badly. I see him as being on the ascendancy. I didn't raise my hopes too high on him in the first place so to me he is doing just fine. He just needs to move to a club where he will gather more playing time. His years of apprenticeship is over. So he needs to start doing it from next season. If we had a better striker than Iheanacho, sure he will get my nod. But the simple truth is we don't. |

TheSuperNerd: Reports – Leicester City In Portugal For Talks With CD Feirense Over Oghenekaro Etebo
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_3072.jpg
According to reports sourced by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team English Premier League side Leicester City have sent their representative to Portugal to thrash out a deal for Nigerian star Oghenekaro Etebo.
Futbol Gastesi in a post on their official twitter handle says the CD Feirense star is a prime target for Leicester City and Turkish side Fenerbahce who are both looking to strengthen their team in this window.
While Etebo is more inclined to moving to Leicester City, the report has it that Fenerbahce have not given up yet on his chase, as they are also in Portugal to convince Feirense to do a deal.
Feirense are opened to the idea of letting the forward leave but their terms and valuation of the man who joined them 18 months ago must be met by interested parties.
A price tag of around 20 million euros has been placed on him by the team, but it is believed he will be allowed to leave for a fee in the region of 10 million euros plus add ons.

TheSuperNerd: If there is ever one person I was really expecting to Speak against Nacho's quality, it is Chief Icon4s....
I mean he was one person who always poured cold water on Nacho.
Even now he says he may not be looking like a player who will take the world by storm.... for now. (showing his innately conservative stance on Nacho).
Yet he admits that without Any iota of doubt... Nacho remains our best and most lethal finisher.
What is wrong then with the rest of the people talking Afrikaans?? about how Kayode can or may do better??
Are we talking Maybe or Actual??
Kayode is a fine player and the MVP plus Top scorer of the Austrian Bundesliga. He has done well and deserve his spot in the team. He is now the team's second choice striker/forward/CF.
As things stand now, it is he the onus will fall on when Nacho is not available.
But in Nacho's presence.... plsssssssss.... Kayode benches.
That is the undisputable truth.
Nacho operates on a higher level compared to Kayode and is much more rounded than Kayode.
Nacho still has the best conversion rate and best goals per mins ratio in the EPL.
He still scores goals for the Super Eagles And with a better structured Midfield will score much more.
You cannot send your A Card to the Bench and start with a B-Card. That is making matters worse than worst.
Chief Icon4s.... Honestly... I still marvel at how you come up and say things the way they are as regards that striking position. Thank you for your unbiased submission. When I was speaking against Iheanacho's hype earlier on it was as if I had something against the lad. That I think was the first hot debate we had on this forum. I even received a week ban as I think I was reported to one of the mods by someone here. People thought I hated the boy but I was just being objective. I have seen too many youngsters falter and my mind-set about youngsters has not changed. Look at Awoniyi, Success, Yahaya, Musa Mohammed. What's up with Chidi Nwakali's development? Many here thought by now those boys would be flying in top clubs in Europe. But....you know the story. With the stories surrounding Iheanacho I should be the first to shout ' I told you! I told you'. But no, I have seen what he is capable of and I know he is well loaded. So why should I say otherwise just to defend or promote my earlier stance on him? Iheanacho and Ndidi are the only 2 players from that class that have managed to maintain at least the minimum class expected of them. Nobody stands to win any prize by winning any argument here. A lot of us here have lost objectivity because they are trying to defend one player or group of players. Or defend one philosophy or the other. And thanks for the compliments. |

TheSuperNerd: Belgian Clubs Mulling Over Move For The Nigerian Yaya Toure
https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/14557Bonke.jpg
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that two unnamed Belgian First Division clubs are mulling over a move for Lillestrom starlet Innocent Bonke in the summer transfer window.
Bonke has become an important member of the Lillestrom squad since his arrival in 2014, and has made over fifty appearances for The Canaries in all competitions.
Lillestrom have placed one million euros asking price on Bonke, but it is thought that interested clubs will be able to close the deal if a bid of €800,000 is lodged and a ten percent sell-on clause is inserted by the Norwegian team.
Dubbed the New Yaya Toure in his homeland, the midfielder represented Moderate Stars, Ruqayyah Football Academy and Bujoc FC, Lagos before he transferred to Lillestrom. The 21-year-old was discovered by top Nigerian Football scout, Udia Attai.

Mickael2: you guys don't even understand what these people say sometimes. read it again slowly, best on target conversion rate. that is his off target strikes are not counted just that when he hits the target he scores 65% of the time, not that it is bad just that you are making it sound like he is so conical that anything that comes close to him is a goal. when you consider that most of his goals are tapins no offence that shows just why he has such a ratio.
now I am not saying he is.bad just that we should reduce the hype. the other time I said Kayode is faster and presses more than him, you almost reaped out my heart but we all saw it in this last match, that's just my point Bros if you have been on this thread long enough you'll know I should be the last moniker to hype Iheanacho. I know how I continuously poured cold water on guys here hyping Iheanacho putting him on the same level, if not above, Messi and Ronaldo. But, I can tell you that though Iheanacho may not presently be looking like a player that would take the world by storm as earlier predicted, he is our most lethal striker. It is no hype. Create chances for Iheanacho to score and see whether he wouldn't rattle the net severally. Our opponents now know that Iheanacho needs the balls to score. Cut him off supply and he will be a passenger on the field. Now what I expected of the technical crew is to device a set up that will make the midfield and AM creative enough to dis-organize our opponent's midfield and defense and Iheanacho will continuously find himself in good scoring positions. You saw how Chile did this against Cameroon and Vargas, but for his poor finishing, would have scored at least 3 goals that night. Sending Iheanacho to the bench and fielding another striker without our midfield and AM being creative enough is like moving from frying pan to fire. Talking about creativity that is why I am not just of the opinion that Iwobi should be sent to the bench against Cameroon. Apart from physicality you also need creativity to beat a team like Cameroon. I have severally thought of Iwobi being played as the CM and Ndidi DM and Mikel as the AM. Iwobi hardly makes wrong passes. His through balls are almost always perfect. He is a more creative player than Etebo. Etebo can play from the wings while Iwobi plays the CM role. Mikel and Ndidi to provide physical support to Iwobi. |

TheGoodJoe:
First of all, I did not recommend Oshaniwa for the National team but suggested Rohr looks into Oshaniwa to see if there is a possibility of him being able to solve our challenge. Keep in mind that Oshaniwa displaced Echiejile in our National team before the arrival of Oliseh disrupted his progress in the team.
Rohr made the right call watching Oshaniwa in camp and even played him in the Super Eagles team A Vs Team B friendly. That was the coach doing more than what I asked and I am grateful for his deep understanding of the National team growth.
If playing Oshaniwa in a friendly is more than what I asked, how the hell can you say I suggested him for the team.
I believe after the meeting with Rohr, the German tactician gave Oshaniwa advices on how to get his career on track before an assault for a place in the team. I wish the young man the best because he was a breath of fresh air on the left side of our team and we are yet to have someone come close to what he offered. My eyes are set on Nura Abdullahi and I also hope the young man has an injury free explosive season ahead. Meaning we should give credence to what people clamouring for Anichebe and Martins are saying. Rohr should equally arrange a test match to assess whether they can solve our attacking problems. Oshaniwa that we knew had nothing to offer this present team. I have always been of the opinion that trying too many players could be an unnecessary distraction. |
