BascoVanVeli: They will always remembered as the 2015 u17 champions. Nothing will ever change that. Their names will be forever linked to Kanu and Iheanacho. Yes they will be remembered as U17 Champions. But what would they be remember for at U20? Do u know that when i saw the draw: Nigeria vs Sudan, my mind went back to the Gbenga Okunowo led Flying Eagles of 1997. We beat Sudan 2-1 at home and lost 1-0 in Sudan. Sudan scaled through on away goals. Similar thing repeated itself. A good number of them would have had another opportunity to sell themselves. Where is our energetic John Lazarus sef. |

My bad about the Super6 venue. See, those coaches are humans like us. They also make mistakes and allow emotions and sentiments take over team selection. I am not in doubt about his tactical competencies but his choice of players. Just the same way we felt about Siasia and 'his boys'. |

BascoVanVeli: Please who humiliated Sudan? The only team that beat them with a big score didn't even make it out of their group. They even drew with Senegal the finalist. Did you watch the matches? In the draw against Senegal, Senegal were one man down and a goal down yet they continued to mouth heavy pressure on Sudan until the equalizer. Sudan went further to lose 4-1 and 3-1 to Cameroun and SA respectively. These Sudan could hardly string up 3 straight passes throughout the tourney. They were by far the worst team in that tourney. |

Certitude: Nature bless you sir! Bless you too Sire. People will see the truth and would be giving excuses. I dnt have anything personal against Amuneke. He is my friend. But i really felt hurt by the disappointment from him and his boys. Ok look at how the Sudan was playing at the AYC. I even felt more disappointed seeing how they were humiliated by all their group opponents. We are here to discuss football for the progress of our national teams. If i see where there are inadequacies in a team i will voice it. I was the only critic of the Manu's 2015 team even before they kicked a ball at the WYC and we all saw where they ended. I believed so much in the Amuneke's U17 team and we saw where they ended. If a team has the tendency to excel I say it but if they dnt i also say it. I have been a keen follower of youths football since the mid 80s. I have seen good and bad flying Eagles teams come and go. I know what constitutes a balanced or strong U20 team. cc: TheGoodJoe. |

TheGoodJoe: Super Eagles fans in Lagos state will soon start watching their darling team at the iconic Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos again following the state's government's plan to change the venue's artificial turf to all natural grass turf.
The senior national team has shied away from the Lagos stadium because of its artificial turf, which according to experts, puts players at risk of injury. And with the poor state of the national stadium also in Surulere, the senior national team has played their matches in every other part of the country except Lagos in recent years.

The pitch is too poor for the Super Eagles to think of playing there and you are trying to make it look like a de la cream condition.
Also, the artificial pitch with poor drainage made the condition a nightmare but you are quick to heap blames on Amunike.
Put these young boys in awful condition and want to make it look like Amunike was at fault.
NFF failed that team. Was it not than same Teslim Balogun pitch that Manu's 2015 Flying Eagles won the Super 6 tourney? Amuneke had a 2-1 away advantage. He went and was playing Tikky takka on a wet surface and lost 4-3 even from a 3-2 lead at a point in the game. That is unpardonable. He has done the right thing by going back to coaching school. |

DaddyNick: As a young graduate who got a job with a starting salary of N60,000 monthly and you have a fiancee who is also a graduate and has a job of N40,000 monthly, do you guys think one can start a good home with this a raise a decent comfortable family in Nigeria? My brother, there are so many sides to a die. People are wired in different ways and so marriages and families are structured in different ways. There are couples with even children that dnt earn up to 50K per month combined but they still manage to meet most of their BASIC daily needs. Now, family background is also important here bc in Africa we practise an extended family system. Are you a first child and probably have younger ones to see through school? Are ur parents still working or retired/out of work and so would now also depend on that ur 60K salary? Can ur parents afford to pay the rent in which u and them are currently staying? I guess u have a first degree. Do u plan to further ur education soonest or apply for professional courses that would zap ur money? I am not even bringing the girls income and her family/extended family needs/demands into this.I am focusing on ur own needs first of which u must solve before carrying ur wife's own and add. Bc even after u marry u immediate family needs would still be there for u to carry. U must take care of ur aged parents and also assist ur younger siblings through school if any. Ur wife have parents which u must also take care of. God help u if she is the first born. Think this thing through bro. Pls dnt stumble into marriage else u'll have a bumpy ride. |

TheSuperNerd: Spalleti Explains Why Nura Abdullahi Didn’t Make Roma Bow Against Empoli
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-100.jpg
An explanation as to why highly rated Nigerian teen back Nura Abdullahi didn’t make his debut for Serie A side Roma against Empoli has been provided by Luciano Spalleti.
The Roma boss included the Nigerian in his matchday squad for the first time this season, as the highly rated 19 year old has fully recovered from the numerous injuries and fitness issues that has slowed him down.
However, he didn’t get to make his debut as expected as Roma cruised to a 2-0 win over Empoli, courtesy of goals from forward Edin Dzeko with Nura left on the bench for the entire duration of the game.
”Nura was a bit unfortunate yesterday. The plan was for him to play some minutes but the coach was forced into making a substitution in defence which caused Nura his debut”, Nura intermediary told Owngoalnigeria.com.
”Federico Fazio felt some pains in his legs and has to be replaced by another central defender with five minutes left to play that substitution plus other factors in the mind of the coach denied Nura his first team bow with Roma, He is aware of this explanation from the coach”.

TheGoodJoe: Do you prefer our Super Eagles play on the pitch in Teslim Balogun Stadium or Port Harcourt/Calabar?
Amunike advised that boys not to worry about their allowances during the U17 and think of how their lives will change after they won the U17 World Cup. You cant tell me that u dnt know that the Teslim Balogun stadium has abt the best artificial pitch in Nigeria. The issue was not the Pitch bt the heavy rain that took place hours before and during the match. Now dnt raise an issue of poor drainage in the Teslim Balogun stadium bc the PH and Calabar stadiums are not any better. To your second paragraph, that statement u jst made is not an evidence that the boys were not paid their U17 qualification allowances. So pls i need something more concrete. Show me any link to that claim. |

TheGoodJoe: I can say I have never heard of a team that went through what Amunike's boys faced during camp. Not paid allowances from before the U17 qualifiers, to the qualifiers and then the tournament they won.
Then no allowances in their U20 Camp which comprised of most of the U17 winning team.
Why carry them to Teslim Balogun stadium instead of Calabar or Port Harcourt in such an important game? We failed Amunike and his boys. Why Calabar or Portharcourt. Can you support ur claim in anyway that they were not paid their allowances right from the U17 qualifiers? |

BascoVanVeli: That was one match, any team can lose on any given day. Remember we beat them in Sudan. Prio to that game the team had been struggling. Recall they came from behind to score two late goals in Sudan. The tie before that also they laboured and left it late. I started complaining right from when they started struggling to beat teams at that stage. |

TheGoodJoe: Amunike's inexperience did not let the team down. It was the mistake of the NFF that let the team down. From not caring from them in camp, to no allowances throughout their camping from U17 and finally playing them on a turf that did not fit their playing pattern. All those are excuses. Those boys were not matured both physically and mental for that stage. Was it NFF that invited rain makers to Surulere that day? Talking abt allowances are they the only Nigerian team that has ever suffered such? Bc u are being owed allowance Sudan will beat u 4-3 in ur back yard. The same Sudan that teams were using as punching bags at AYC. If Sudan had gone ahead to qualify for the WYC now i would say ok they met a tough team. |

TheGoodJoe: If Amunike wanted them, he would have called them. He was okay with his group of players. He even called for an open camp, which means he preferred his current players to those screened out. That explanation is not acceptable. "He was okay with the group of players". Does he know the level of competitiveness of that stage? He thinks the U20 is jst 1 step above U17? His inexperience of coaching at that level has let Nigeria down. Amuneke failed in his players selection. He is my pal but I must say the truth. |

TheGoodJoe: If Amunike wanted any of them, he would have gone for them. Unlike who is the next coach who did not coach the U17 team.
I want whoever takes over the U20 team to also address those screened out by the MRI. Ndidi, Mathew, Bulbwa and Mustapha among others failed MRI but Manu wanted them back and all 4 became first team players at U20. I remember Ndidi used to bear Oyinye Ndidi then. Is Amuneke telling us that none of his U17 players failed MRI or the ones that scaled through MRI are better than the ones that failed? |

TheGoodJoe: Yes he did. That does not mean he was way above the age limit. Just like Maduabuchi Obinwa, the MRI prevents old players from passing the test but does not mean young players can not fail the test.
The MRI is now a U17 Criteria which we accept. It helps filter out overage players and I feel that level of tournament needs the protection it gets.
However, I call on the inclusion of players who failed the MRI scan to participate in our U20 process. Just like the players who failed in the last Manu Garba's U17. @ Your last paragraph is what Amuneke did not do. |

TheGoodJoe: MRI helped our football but some like Awaziem, Mikel Agu and Victor Moses did not use that route to stardom. We produced quality young players in the past like Oliseh, Oruma and Finidi without the help of MRI screening.
The fact is that not all players that look older than their ages are overage. Ask Rooney. Sebi Ndidi failed MRI. |

Iwobi needs to stay off the Social Media and sleep early. He should also check his lifestyle and cut out things affecting his game. The young man needs discipline. I dnt think it has much to do with his social media life. I think It has more to do with his attitude. He takes things too easy. He believes he is a world renowned star already. Rohr is an experience coach who have seen what he was looking for in RB in Aina and remember both Aina and Omeruo belonged to Chelsea,Omeruo on loan and Aina in main squad,a good coach w evaluate d situation.
According to reliable source d switching of Aina's allegiance to Nigeria is d top priority of Rohr and NFF coz of his displayed in training. Firstly, the Aina case is the gradual process I am talking about. But hope his switch in Nationality would effected before our game in June? Then to Musa mohammed and Shehu. I believe u watched Nigeria vs Tanzania where Musa played that RB for 90mins. How was his performace? You saw Shehu in the Egypt double header plus Olympics. What is ur assessment of his performance. My only issue with Musa is inexperience added to the fact that he does not play in a competitive league. I personally dnt have any issues with Shehu playing that RB. I dnt actually know what transpired in camp prio to Zambia game for him to field Ndidi in that position. Shehu was my pick for that RB before we saw d line up. |
