terzurum5: Aluko is ahead of Iwobi in so many areas, experience, creating goal scoring chances, goals, best suited for physical opponents, etc
Besides what is the essence o inviting a player to play games he is not suited for Hahahaha. Did u watch Iwobi against Mancity? If Iwobi plays in that championship he will dust Aluko. As if Aluko never played in the EPL. Besides, Mikel will be back for the SA game and Iwobi goes back to his Left wing position. So the comparison should be between Mikel and Aluko. If u want to draft Aluko to the Right Wing then compare him with Victor Moses. |

EEGA: I think we need a No 9 who plays regularly in his club for the remaining World Cup Qualifiers. The Nacho we saw in the match against senegal wasted some chances though he later scored the equalizer and this can be attributed to his lack of playing time in his club.We can make a list of No 9's in Europe.Nacho can come in as a substitute. We should avoid the mistake of fielding a player who hardly gets playing time.We need strikers that score when they get the chance.A friendly match tells us more about our team. Before the 2014 World cup.USA defeated Nigeria 2-1in a friendly. One of the goals was caused by Yobo's mistake. We should field regular and in form players especially in the wings they play for their clubs. I agree with you. But can you suggest one number 9 for us? |

goldfish80: Lol.. If you can explain to me how Romania got into the world top ten and displaced Italy and France I go comot cap for you I wouldnt say exactly how Romania did it. But what i'll say is it requires planning, hard work and results. That is also how Switzerland made top ten a couple of years back. As I said before, the ranking parameters are not secret. FIFA has made it public. The ranking is done for a 4yr period. Eg the latest ranking was from March 2014 to April 2017 with the most recent results(2017) carrying more weight. Some countries dnt play friendlies with teams outside the top 50 bc playing teams that are too low behind does nt fetch much points and if u by mistake lose or draw to any of such teams it will really negatively affect ur ranking. Playing top teams and getting results moves u up. Just a draw against Senegal and u saw our ranking points soar. Senegal lost ranking points with that draw against Nigeria. Jst like the case of Romania and Switzerland. You can acquire those points calculatively. The ranking points formulas are available. U simulate the results and calculate the possible ranking points from them and u select which teams u'll play in friendlies. U may nt have a choice of who to play during main tourneys or qualifiers but every opportunity u have to play against a big team jst get a result even if it is a draw. Dnt loose games even if u have already qualified from the group. Like if we secure qualification after Cameroun double header some would say we should rest our regulars and try new players. U may not get the desired results needed to boost ur ranking. FIFA ranking has become so important these days and should no longer be taken for granted as it is now the basis for group seedings in both FIFA and CAF organised tourneys. |

stevedre: You spoke my mind. One of the most honest and trusted friend I have is yoruba, how did we get to this level of hatred and tribalism. Nairaland is also not helping matters because the mods dont ban the handles of the hate mongers. East and west share allot in common compaired to the north, I believe there are more connected with people from Niger republic than other parts of Nigeria. nairaland has no doubt been as source of all sorts of info for some of us. But some elements have also used it to spread hate among ethnic groups. I personally stopped commenting on the politics section when i saw the extent of hate, and insults flying around. I am a nationalist and bc of that there is no kind of insults i have not received from my own ethnic brothers here. I plead with seun and his moderators to apply stricter measures to deal with this issue. Our youths of today are so much divided and filled with so much hate for each other. In this twenty first century when we should even be thinking of erasing ethnic boundaries. |

goldfish80: A student in Finland developed a formula to beat this FIFA monthly rankings. Wales and Romania used this system to their advantage and broke into the FIFA top 10 world rankings, earning for themselves top seeds in their world cup qualifiers group. The Nff can adopt their method if they are interested in soaring up the rankings. It is one thing to know the formula and another thing to get the desired result to boost your ranking points. FIFA no longer makes the formula secret. U can actually calculate ur ranking points even before a game is played. Like a kind of forecast. That may even inform u of the decision to play which country so as to secure maximum ranking points. Immediately Nigeria drew Senegal i calculated our ranking points and those of other countries closely above and below us. From that i stated Nigeria would move to 5th in Africa and top 40 in the world. Not something difficult. |

Agent – Ndidi Won’t Turn Down Manchester United, Anyone Willing To Bet?

Leicester City rave of the moment Wilfred Ndidi won’t turn down a move to Manchester United if a bid is lodged for him in the summer by the Red Devils.
Ndidi is reportedly on the wishlist of the Premier League giants following a whirlwind start to his career in England, following his transfer from Genk in January.
According to Nigerian intermediary Hakeem Bello who is close to the bonafide intermediary of the former Genk man, Ndidi will jump at the chance to join Manchester United.
” Ndidi won’t say no to Manchester United, I can proudly tell you that if a bid is launched for him, he will most likely ask Leicester City for a transfer”, Hakeem told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” We talking Manchester United you know, the biggest and most successful in England. That’s a no brainer. Ndidi won’t turn down Man United, anyone willing to bet?”.

TheSuperNerd: Musa played right ba in Moses' absence in the friendly... so Musa drops....
Onyekuru plays from the left more.... although he can play both right and left Wing forward positions and he is so good that he also drifts centrally oftentimes into the no.9 position in some match situations when his team are pushing for goals.... Dude is dynamic.
So For Victor moses... musa benches....
Some Aluko's invite won't automatically mean someone drops... he must show he is better than those playing the no.10 role for now.... Rohr may need to increase his squad list from 25 then. |

TheSuperNerd: Well kinda true.... but consider Iheanacho and Kayode in there for now....
Won't call Ighalo and Ideye as they will return for some friendly games in France camping during or after their seasons in China. Besides, they are a bit outta the picture for now too.....
Won't call the foreign born no 9 options too because we have not gotten them yet....
Won't call Success as he is more of a wing forward now.... kinda... (Sir Icon4s... could Success still play 9?)
So yeah... odey has a chance right now... but Nacho and Kayode are there for now And Rohr is looking at Wing forwards also.... The beauty of modern football is the versatility of both the coach and players. The ability of a player to play more than one role gives him an edge. Apart from CF which other roles can Odey play? What if i tell you that what Rohr fielded in the later part of that Senegal game was a 4-3-3.That is how i read it. The 3 forwards being Success-iheanacho-Kayode. I see Success as a very useful player in that attack as he is a wing forward and also a striker. He may not be a CF. Kayode jst like Success can also be played as a wings forward. Same goes for Onyekuru (ie WF and CF). Iheanacho, Success, Kayode and Onyekuru have more to offer than Odey. I cannot drop any of these four for Odey. |

I know Oga Forgiveness will bury me for this but if I am given those three options to drop one and bring in Onyekuru, then I will drop Kayode despite his fine debut for the team. I feel Nacho and Success brings far more to the table than Kayode.
But again, Kayode is a no.9 not a wing forward. So he may get an invite even if Onyekuru is to be considered. I think the person under the threat of being dropped is Ahmed Musa.
Now I don't know if Rohr has the guts to take this decision to exclude Musa just as he has done with Ighalo and Ideye. Time will tell..... But forgiveness, na true say u go burry TheSuperNerd if he choses to drop Kayode for Onyekuru? Hahahaha. |

https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/Goal_Nigeria/e1/97/super-eagles_vv8izesatcfw11il55vj7yzwa.jpg
Nigeria are now the 40th best football playing nation according to the latest Fifa ranking released on Thursday.
The Super Eagles were ranked 41st in March ranking but this month, they moved a place up thanks to their 1-1 international friendly draw against Senegal in London.
They are fifth in Africa behind leaders, Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.
The Indomitable Lions, who will face the Super Eagles in a crunch 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier dropped a place to occupy number 33 in the world, though third in Africa.
On the global scene, Brazil returned to their seat at the top of the podium after a seven-year break. They are followed closely by Argentina, Germany, Chile and Colombia.
Macedonia (133, plus 33) were the month’s biggest movers, with some strong gains coming within the top 50 too as Sweden (34, plus 11), Northern Ireland (26, plus 9), USA (23, plus 7), Greece (39, plus 7) and Japan (44, plus 7) all gained ground. The next Fifa/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 4 May 2017.

That is why i still feel pained by our U20 team not playing at the next WYC. It is very obvious that Rohr cannot invite Onyekuru, Kalu and Odey at the same time. The WYC would have been a good avenue to really assess them and their readiness. I personally have dropped Ideye and Ighalo from my own mind list. Now between Iheanacho, Success and Kayode who do we drop so we can at least try Onyekuru for a start? For the Nig vs SA match. |

Chukwuma Nseogwu was from a part of Igboland that was never and had never been part of the East. He was from the Mid-Western Region which was part of the old western region. However, state creation was more of a political convenience. Ethnicity was the main thing then unlike now. Today u'll see an Asaba man with full Igbo names saying he is not Igbo he is Delta or South-South. When were Delta and South-South created. Honestly, there is so much disunity down South and that is why the North will continue to take us for a ride. I was with a Northern colleague at one of our Oil fields somewhere in Etche land in Rivers state. Discussion led to the other and he told me these people here are not Igbos they are Rivers. I come look at the Hausa man wey dey teach me the Ethnicity of my people. I jst gave him a little assignment to go as the locals what language they speak and he came back to say "well they said they were Igbo". He then told me he thought there were no Igbos in Rivers state. That is what he probably had been reading. We need to Forster unity amongst ourselves down South. |

That is the exact same way all history books have put it. So it could not have been made up. Do u know that if not for that singular act by Fajuyi the Igbos would have believed he had a hand in Ironsi's death? Fajuyi paid the price of brotherhood between Igbos and Yorubas. I always feel bad when i see the present generation of Igbo and Yoruba youths calling themselves all sorts of names. It is a big shame. When we should be coming together to fight our common enemies? TY Danjuma and his brothers killed two of our illustrious sons who were what our youths are not today. How many Yoruba young men can die for an Igbo young man and vice versa? Fulani herdsmen are ravaging our communities here down south and all we can do is to insult and mock which ever region was affected. I am really disappointed in our youths of today. Tribalism was not as much as it is among youths of today. Growing up most of my friends were Yorubas. And Yoruba muslims for that matter. We could do anything for each other. Kog45: No,pls go to archive and u w discover that Seoul Olympic football game was not for U23 but purely national team affair.
The Under 23 started in Barcelona 92 and three over aged was introduced in Atlanta 96.
It was Los Angeles 84 that professional footballers were allowed to participate with special consideration given to Africa,Oceania,Asia to use full national team players while Europe and South America were banned from using players who had world cup experience.
All this was done to protect d integrity of World Cup coz allowing Olympic football tourney to have full participation of national team players w have negative impact on d World Cup. So how then do u account for the non-participation of the older senior players in the Super Eagles? It is not completely for the senior team players. I think there were restrictions as per mayb how many senior international matches played or something like that. |
