You gotta be fecking kidding me! Please don't tell me that this man is planning to use foreign based pros to prosecute the U-17 qualifiers? Somebody really need to call these so called coaches to order: No foreign based pros for the cadet teams until you qualify for the real tournament!

At the U-17 levels (even up to the U-20s) most of our best players are still home-based; these coaches just need to discover them. Unfortunately, laziness wouldn't allow them to do their jobs, they would rather find the already made talents somewhere in the Euro soccer academies.

#Shameless

” We are ready to receive players born abroad who are eligible to play for Nigeria and want to play. You can’t deny them their fundamental right. As a coach I have had some of them in the past. Like Ovie Ejaria at Liverpool but I will like to state here that they won’t be giving any preferential treatment ‎, and they have to be better than the players we have in the team. Merit will be out watchword not where you’re coming from”.

Cosigning. To me, the only time FIFA ranking merits any discussion is from about two years before the next World Cup. Other than that short widow, the FIFA ranking is totally irrelevant.

Honestly, I am ambivalent about this. First, I believe that we've hosted the U-20 World Cup before. So why don't we go for the real thing: bid to host the main FIFA World Cup? It's either go big or go home, right? If South Africa can do it, I don't see why Nigeria can't.

Much ado about NOTHING. I have not seen the outrage when Cristiano Ronaldo does the same thing. And he does that all the time ... so gimme a freaking break, OK?

When it comes to being petulant, Cristiano Ronaldo takes the cake. Here's someone who grabbed the microphone from the hands of a journalist and threw it into the water! If another player does the same thing, that person would be banned for two months but Cristiano didn't even receive a slap on the wrist; rather they awarded him an undeserved MVP shocked

Yup. It's must be federal character. That's what's pulling Nigeria behind. I have actually questioned Pinnick on the criteria for selecting Salisu as the best coach to understudy Rohr. And I recommended to him that Samson Siasia is the right person for the SE's assistant coach. Siasia is the future; hence, the sooner he's seconded to gain more experience by understudying Rohr the better.

But, hey, that's the NFF for you: square pegs in round holes. Tell me how this dude got the U-20 job ahead of Emmanuel Amuneke?

Nigeria, we hail thee.

O pari

AIG07:
Good names you've reeled out there.

I'm in support of your choice of Mikel. His ability will come handful for 35-40yards and above distances.

But that Onazi is a no no for me. I won't even like to see him stand near our dead balls either far away in our own half or near our opponent's goal,

*who is/are your pick for the pens?*
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 7:53pm On Feb 14, 2018
That's a very good point you raised there, AIG. Any good counter attack team must be deadly at set pieces. Right now, I will pick:

VicMo
KC Iheanacho
John Obi Mikel
Eddy Onazi, and
W. Ndidi

In that particular order....

O pari

AIG07:
Throughout the World Cup qualifiers, the Super Eagles scored 12goals across 6matches averaging 2goals per match which is an impressive stat putting in mind the strength of the opponents they faced and going on to concede 4goals in total.

Of the 12goals scored, only 1 was scored via setpiece(corner kick) while the rest came from open play. The team conceded 4goals: 2 from open play and 2 from spotkick(resulting from avoidable goalkeeping errors). This has gone to show how strong our line of defence was against the top, strong and physical african sides.

With Rohr, looking forward to strengthen his defence and finding a reliable and permanent solution to the ever unconvincing goalkeeping department, I see the team putting off any forms of attack from the open play.

In the light of this, Eagles opponents might have to exploit other means to break the Eagles' wall and get the desired points/results. One of these means will definitely be SET-PIECES.

Eagles' group stage opponents Croatia, Iceland and Argentina all boast of world class and deadly dead ball specialists. These opponents, might decide to draw fouls out of our boys in dangerous areas to capitalise on our team's weakness-SET PIECE DEFENDING.

There is therefore need for us to settle and fix our inabilities to convert and defend setpieces before
we kick the first ball at the mundial.

A very good left and right setpiece takers who have the ability of weeping deadly balls into the 18yard boxes from left and right sides of the pitch. These players should be our notable takers in the upcoming friendlies so as to enable them to master the act before World cup proper.

*my suggestions*
Victor Moses
Simon Moses
Kelechi Iheanacho.

Osu is a practice in SOME part of Igboland that has faded away,
Only Ignorant people make a big thing out of it.
There is nothing like osu, the Ancient Arochukwu people invented that stuff to deceive people and have an easy access to people to sell off as slaves back then.
They were civilized then and many Igbo communities hire them as judges, those who the law is against were casted away and they become osu,
In the night, the aros through their Abam warrior mercenaries will come and kidnap those people and sell them to the white man.

The guy should try another girl pls.
What a handsome young man.

And by the way, to answer your question, the reason why the likes of Maduka and Uzoho are getting a look in is because both Akpeyi and Ezenwa has disappointed badly. Rohr is now desperate for a decent goalkeeper ... anybody at all. And, as you know, desperate men do desperate things grin Remember, when Carl Ikeme was healthy, you didn't see Rohr picking goalkeepers from the garbage bins of the Euro leagues.

Pls i do not understand what you mean by you can bet it probably have not watched Emma or Alampasu in my life, pls try to be courtesy in some of your words cos i respect you a lot and i believe you should understand basics things about football analysis and not always being carried away with emotions.

I was with U 17 live at UAE and have good relationships with most of these players till today, saying have never watched Alampasu is an insult and mind you even after U 17 have watched him in number of occasions but if i may ask you is Alampasu not a member of Rohr team.I remember he was always in camp and kept against Corsica in a friendly.

On Emma Daniel, what brought his name into discussion was all about our future and i need to refer to him,Uzoho, Alampasu and Maduka, that the future is bright or are your saying a young keeper that benched Akpeyi at Rio 2016 is no longer a future of Nigeria team.

On Maduka my case is clear cos i know what is football and i will not be deceived by what people posted on him and thank God tbaba1234 came out and said the guy had 2 clean sheets in 15 games in regional league and this statement was the bedrock of our discussion.

Look before i make any comments here i have my facts not just hearsay and sometimes did my research,so saying some folks are talking thrash here is out of it cos that's what your comment implied which is uncalled for and am highly disappointed such notion can come out from you,oh my God i hold you in a very high esteem.

I started watching this game since 1980 and is a fact not just talks and i can tell you a lot about Nigeria football till today without going into archive.I follow the game passionately especially anything relating to Nigeria football and sports in general.

On Maduka i still repeat it how on earth a keeper keeping in junior regional league equivalent of division 4 in Europe is good for super eagles if not sentiment.

I made a post on super eagles goalkeeper crisis and those who really understand the game agreed that things must be done cos most of our keepers are not doing well in their various clubs except shaking Akpeyi which is not convincing.

Uzoho is now a fourth keeper in his club but keeping in division three which is not good enough. If not for keepers crisis, super eagles is not a place for division three player.

Alampasu a third keeper in his club meaning is match rusty and not good enough for Eagles criteria if not for Eagles keepers crisis.

Maduka a keeper in fourth division not a good criteria for Eagles,on what ground for God sake.

I'm not saying these guys are not good cos Uzoho already showed us that they can come good but for the coming WC can we trust them between the sticks especially seeing them keeping in lower leagues.

One thing is glaring the future is bright with Grancis Uzoho,Alampasu, Daniel and Maduka but coming to upcoming WC Rohr need wisdom in his selection and as thegoodjoe always saying no sentiment the best should be picked.

Komekn, not that I could possibly convince you but his statement was mostly accurate. I know for a fact that Alex Iwobi (and most other black African players) receive a lot of craps from British pundits because they are Africans. Any mistakes that African players make, especially Nigerian players, are extrapolated. An Euro or English player can make the same mistakes without getting any negative reactions. Those of us who understand the game already know that you gotta take some of the commentaries you hear on TV or read in the British press with a big dose of salt, OK. Anytime Arsenal loses, it's always Iwobi this, Iwobi that while totally ignoring the craps they play there in defense Mustafa for instance can get away with murder ... same with Nacho Monreal, even Koscileny (sp). I am yet to see any game where Jack Wilshere performs better than Iwobi but he never gets called out for poor performance.

And let me say this again, for sub-Saharan African, you gotta be twice as good as the Euro players to play.

Maduka Okoye's club appears to rate him highly so the ability is there. It is left to Maduka to prove himself in camp.

Well, I can make a case about Sweden and England but fair enough; however, I still believe that we had a good chance of beating that French team. Well, you can keep exposing your ignorance while calling people names. You're suffering from what I will call the Nigerian problem of poor education (aka half education). And like my grandfather would say "half education is dangerous". When I was growing up, my elementary school principal have this saying "A mistake in London is a style in Africa".

A typical Nigerian, you heard about ethanol, decide to jump in and swallow the whole thing line, hook, and sinker ... years after the pioneers are already moving on to bigger and better things. Meanwhile, let me offer you some free education. Most advanced countries including the United States and Brazil are already transitioning out of the 1st generation ethanol - that is, the so called corned based and sugarcane based ethanol that Nigeria is gradually planning to introduce simply because they realized that using corn or sugarcane for fuel isn't the solution. Even Al Gore has admitted that the First Generation Ethanol was a mistake:

Total ethanol subsidies reached $7.7 billion last year according to the International Energy Agency. In fact, biofuels worldwide received more subsidies than any other form of renewable energy. Gore argued that "It is not a good policy to have these massive subsidies for [U.S.] first-generation ethanol".
Gore went on to say that “first-generation ethanol I think was a mistake. The energy conversion ratios are at best very small.” Gore now supports so-called second-generation technologies that do not compete with food — using farm waste or non-food sources such as switchgrass to make ethanol.

sweetgala:
You are the deluded one here, Biofuel has been big in many oil producing nations for decades now and Nigeria is the nation that has not caught on. Brazil are a major oil producing nations yet most people there use E85 in their vehicles some even run 100 % ethanol.

We can use it to fire our generators, many large factories ins Brazil use the sugarcane chaff that remains from ethanol production formed into bricks as solid fuel to run their furnaces or boilers.

In Nigeria we have this stupid disillusion about petrol

E85 is available in certain fuel stations in UK, US and Japan you simply roll up to the fuel station and fill up on what you want.

Race drivers use E85 because the ethanol component cools down the combustion chamber
