Good point. Let's hope for the best sha. O pari TheSuperNerd: Yes O pari master, I surely understand your concerns and where you are coming from.
Like I said, I don't expect to see Kelechi starting enough games. I think he will get more games as a sub and few games as a starter. If Puel exceeds my expectations then fantastic! . But I am being very cautious and careful here. Vardy wants to ensure he is England's second choice striker behind Kane ahead of Russia so he will surely get most of the games.
One thing is certain... Beyond Vardy and Okazaki starting together, the go-to man would be Kelechi. And If Vardy is unavailable, the go-to man would be Kelechi because Okazaki cannot play Top 9. There is no more Slimani or Ulloa to step in for the rest of the season if Vardy is missing for any reason. It will be Kelechi most of the time.
As a sub, I expect Kelechi too to come in for either Vardy or Okazaki depending on the game plans or dynamics. And of course I expect him to start a few games.
In conclusion, I for see him having few games as a starter and more games as a sub... Still good enough for me. But if it exceeds those expectations, then great!
Kelechi will be in fine form for Russia. And I even think his "balanced" gametime involvement for this second half of the season will favor Nigeria at the mundial because he would still be fresh and won't suffer burn out. |

But Kelechi doesn't have to play as a top striker. He can play as a SS or even as AM. And he could play from the flanks as he did on Saturday. So I think he can play together with Vardy. And in addition, Vardy (considering his long dry spells this season) is not even good enough to bench Kelechi. Granted that Vardy has a history and record with Leicester but, apples to apples, Kelechi is still a better player (* tries to duck a bullet from Komekn*) O pari tbaba1234: It is Vardy not gray or Okazaki |

But you guys gotta understand that it wasn't Slimani that was keeping Kelechi on the bench! It was the likes of Shanji Okazaki, Demary Gray, Albrighton etc. So as long as those players are still at Leicester, I can't see how KC's situation has improved. Abeg, mek una excuse me but, for some reasons, I just can't get over the fact that a player like Kelechi is sitting on Leicester city bench. There's too much injustice there! O pari tbaba1234: Kelechi will stay. Leicester have loaned out Slimani so Kelechi has to stay.
He will get games too. |

Well, Kelechi should've requested a trade even if Puel doesn't want him to leave. You're a lot more optimistic than me because I still don't see KC getting much playing time. Excuse my pessimism but I don't know what's going on at that football club - Leicester City. Something tells me that you won't play if the likes of Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan don't want you to play. Or else they would start losing matches. I think there's a very strong clique in that football club. I don't wanna name names but I heard it from a very reliable source that Leicester started losing matches when Claudio Ranieri insisted on playing the likes of Ahmed Musa and Slimani ahead of the likes of Demary Gray and Albrighton. Anyway, let's hope and pray that Kelechi would get some much needed playing time because we need him to be match sharp in Russia. I personally don't have confidence on Odion Ighalo leading our attack. O pari TheSuperNerd: Loooollll.... Calm down O pari master...
Ulloa left to Brighton...
Slimani left to Newcastle... Newcastle actually wanted Kelechi but it seems Puel won't let go and prefers letting go of Slimani. I think Puel kinda rates Kelechi over Slimani and Newcastle being in need of striker and with Mitrovic also going out the door, they had to settle for Slimani. Slimani too wants playing time so he took the plunge.
Right now Kelechi only has Okazaki and Vardy to contend with majorly. But shaa time will tell... But I see Kelechi getting at least some more game time this second half of the season. Even Puel promised so... But as usual... We dey observe. |

Aubameyang is a great player but are they going to play only with strikers and AMs? Ozil, Auba, Laca, Giroud (if he doesn't leave), Mikhi, Iwobi, Welbeck, Ramsey, Wilshere, Xhaka etc. All great players but where are the CMs and the DMs? What about a couple of solid CBs? To me, the team as currently constituted is very unbalanced. And in addition, what was the board thinking when they broke the bank just to resign a 29 year old Mesut Ozil? Well, unfortunately, these games are not being televised here so I haven't watched him play. However, I do not doubt his talent. Most Nigerian players are naturally talented but, until they go to Europe, they would still lack the basic fundamentals of the game. My hope is that these new soccer academies that are springing up all over Nigeria would help improve the situation. O pari lexyman: i am not saying he is in the same category with those you mentioned , what i have only pointed out are just his attributes , if you have not been paying attention to it , you have an opportunity in tomorrow's match and if he undergoes some special grooming he may become the kind of player we will need in he future . nearest future is the world , and mind you its just a prediction .... |

Well, the difference is that over here, the folks who don't have the prerequisite qualifications still put in the hard work. I had sources in camp during the 2014 World Cup preparations and based on what I was told, the whole training camp was a joke. The entire preparation was below the level you'd get in a high school soccer camp here. No wonder the team visibly lacked fitness. An average Nigerian coach (a la Keshi - RIP) likes to reap where he did not sow. O pari komekn: That's not unique to Nigeria.

OBJ is scheming and plotting a way to come back to the presidency. Three full terms are not enough for this man, he wants to be a life president. I picked him apart once he dismissed the two political parties and advocated the formation of another party aka the Coalition of Nigeria (CN) and puts his name forward as a member. There's no doubt in my mind that Nigeria would shock Croatia if coach Rohr starts the right players. Good players like Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, VicMo, Etebo, and Awazien have to start this game. But we'll struggle if Rohr decides to stick with the likes of Odion Ighalo, Moses Simon, and John Ogu. O pari MetalJigsaw: Croatia Coach, Dalic: Match Vs ‘Young, Potent And Hungry’ Nigerian Team Will Decide Our W/Cup Fate
Croatia head coach, Zlatko Dalic, has described the Super Eagles of Nigeria as a ‘young, potent and hungry’ side with great potentials, admitting that the result of his team’s first match at Russia 2018 World Cup against the three-time African champions will decide their fate in the tournament .
Croatia will open their 2018 FIFA World Cup Group D campaign against Nigeria on June 16, in Kaliningrad. This is the first time both countries will clash at the senior level.
Speaking to FIFA.com , Dalic, while assessing Croatia’s Group D opponents, which also includes Argentina and newcomers, Iceland, stated that their opening game against Nigeria will decide how far they will go in Russia.
“Iceland were the best team in our group. We know them very well and had a tough loss against them in Reykjavik.,” Dalic began.
“Argentina are obviously one of the favourites to win the World Cup, while I see Nigeria as a young, potent and hungry team with great potential. That first match against Nigeria is very important – it will set the tone for the rest of our tournament.”
Dalic described Real Madrid star midfielder Luka Modric as the lifewire of the Croatian team, but however stated that the main strength is in their unity.
“For Croatia, he (Modric) is our best player – he’s the engine that makes us go. He’s also a captain who leads by example. He always gives his maximum, he sets high standards with his attitude, aggression and energy on the pitch, and with his behaviour off it.
“We have good players in big European clubs, so obviously we have great individual quality in the likes of Modric, Mandzukic, Rakitic, [Ivan] Perisic, Kalinic and others. But our main strength has to be the team.
“I believe that pride and patriotism show by our players when playing for Croatia is a very important attribute. That’s something we need to combine with our quality; if we do that, we’ll have a good chance of reaching our goals.”
And on his plans ahead of the World Cup, he said: “I plan to travel and meet with players and their club coaches, to talk about their status and form. I am focused on only choosing fully fit players, and they know that.
“We also have two great friendly matches in March against Peru and Mexico in USA, and I hope to have two more strong opponents in June. We want to see how good we are and what we need to improve on before the World Cup, and to play teams with similar styles to those we’re going to face in Russia.”

Take it from someone who knows, no home based striker would be going to Russia. Truth is, Nigeria don't really have strikers. We simply don't know how to train strikers. What we have in Nigeria are natural finishers aka goal poachers, not striker. You would understand what I am saying if you've played the game at home and abroad. I thought that I was a super striker when I was in Nigeria and it took me months ... literally, to realize that I was making some elementary school errors. gosh, even our all time best striker, Rasheed Yekini didn't become a good striker until we moved to Ivory Coast. Hence, I don't see any home-based strikers challenging the likes of Iheanacho, Ighalo, Musa etc for a position the team. Mark my words! O pari lexyman: dont be surprised guys if this guy makes it to Russia , i am having the feeling, he has some unique style and so far in this competition he has nt done badly .... has the power and his hold up play is good ... also have a way of coming to the midfield to contribute to the team , i know he has missed some begging chances and one on one ... but he can get better , what if he his been drill and he develop so fast into the kind of beast we will need ? i think stage fright has contributed to his ability , but he keeps improving ... pay attention to him , he is Strong and dangerous . just my opinion |

Gernot Rohr and the NFF are not playing this time around. Let's hope they'd make good use of these friendlies. But I really don't like this friendly match against Congo DR. We need to play against teams preparing for the World Cup. I don't want the DR Congo to injure any of our players ... after all, they have nothing to lose. I don't understand this naija mentality that the team has to play a friendly match in Nigeria before departing for the World Cup. To me, that's BS! This is 2018, Nigerians can watch the team wherever they play in the world. Let's use that DR Congo date to squeeze in another friendly with a South American opponent. O pari Humility017:
