KPOM! Let's keep pushing the theory. I think that's what gives us the strongest line up, especially if Onazi is going to start on the bench. Another good news is that Alex Iwobi is improving his energy level and he fit well in AM role. This team is definitely coming together at the right time. I have not been this excited about the World Cup since 1994! O pari Oasis007: Honestly I would have suggested Mikel to play as a DM, perhaps deep-lying Playmaker at the Mundial, but I'm scared of being roasted alive....LOL!
Ndidi can't thrive as a B2B Midfielder at the moment. His style of Play makes him a Destroyer not an Ochestrator. Joel Obi is simply the best we've got for the Role for now. He's mobile, skillful and decisive. |

Football mystery, superstition or just mere whatever....? *shrugs*. This is linked to your prediction in Argentina being your no.1 for the WC title in Russia.
Note: Argentina won those friendlies 7-1 and 2-1 in '86 and '90 respectively. Now they fix another with same Israel just before Russia 2018. Abeg who dem play last before Brazil 2014? Lol |

Good post with a couple of caveats: Has anyone explored the option of Mikel returning back to his old Chelsea role, as a DM destroyer? That would free Ndidi to play the box2box role, and then Iwobi can play in his favorite position - AM. I am making this suggestion based on a few facts: 1. With our style of play - a fast attacking football - Mikel might be a tad too slow to be our offensive linchpin. 2. Our goalkeeping crisis reinforces the need to solidify our defensive end. Mikel can provide a defensive cushion for the back 4 (back 3 whatever). 3. Considering the countries we're up against (Argentina and Croatia in particular), we gonna need a strong defense line to keep them at bay. On the goalkeeping crisis, I think you guys are mixing up a few things. Rohr did NOT send a personal trainer for Maduka. All he did was to send an assistant to monitor him so they can decide whether Maduka has any potential and deserves an invite. So the man has done anything wrong. And by the way, I am sticking with my recommendation that the man deserves a lifetime contract. Oya, Kog45 come bite me O pari Oasis007: The Return of Joel is a good and welcome Development. I pray he's injury free and fit enough to be in the starting XI for the Eagles at the Mundial.
I wouldn't mind the Trio of Ndidi, Joel and Mikel Combo at all. Ndidi can be the base, shielding the Defense as a No. 6, doing the Tacklings and dirty Jobs. Joel Obi can play efficiently and effectively as Box2Box Midfielder, simply plays as a No. 8, while Mikel plays a free Role as a No. 10.
The Truth is; I was never sold on Etebo as an AM. I prefer him to be played as a Box2Box Midfielder than a No. 10. He simply can be a backup for Joel, while Onazi also serves as a backup for Ndidi. However, who possibly can be a backup for Mikel?!
Super Eagles should opt for a 3-Man Midfield Combo regardless to the Formation; whether 4 - 3 - 3 or 3 - 5 - 2. Also I prefer Idowu as the first Team LB and Ebuehi as the first Team RB, with Shehu and Aina as Backups respectively - meaning Echiejile is honorably dropped.
On the Goalkeeping Crisis. I think Rohr should have sent Trainers to both Akpeyi and Ezenwa instead of the Rookies. Akpeyi ain't a bad Keeper - for his Club he's superb, hence he should be psyched to get the Confidence of replicating Club forms in GWG. |

So the Argies will use Barcelona's training facilities for their preparation? Wow, this is what you call clout!! Seriously, Argentina would win this World Cup, if the AFA can get their acts together and if the other Argentine super stars show (Dybala, Di Maria, Aguero, Higuin, et al.) show up. But it ain't gonna work if they leave it all for Messi to carry. No one can do it by himself, no one has ever done it by himself ... it takes 11 players. O pari TheSuperNerd: WC Opponents Watch
Lionel Messi meets with FA president as Argentina finalise World Cup plans
Lionel Messi received a visit from Argentina Football Federation (AFA) president Claudio Tapia at his Barcelona home as Argentina finalise their World Cup preparations.
The Albiceleste will use Barcelona's training facilities from June 1 until they travel to Russia on June 8.
Tapia posted a photograph on Twitter of himself sitting alongside the Barcelona superstar, writing: "A beautiful morning chatting, having [caffeine drinks] and with a few presents for our captain of our national team."
The AFA is considering playing a friendly against Catalonia in Barcelona in early June before their World Cup group-stage opener against Iceland on June 16. Tapia also met with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Monday.
The AFA chief recently spoke of his hope that Messi would play less for Barcelona the remainder of the season so the 30-year-old would arrive at the World Cup in top condition.
Messi has a La Liga-high 22 goals and has set up 12 more in 25 league appearances -- with all but one start -- for the league leaders.
Barca, seven points clear of Atletico Madrid, will face Las Palmas away on Thursday before squaring off against Atletico on Sunday at the Camp Nou. "It's difficult to imagine this Barca losing four or five games, honestly," Atletico's Uruguay defender Diego Godin told Cadena Ser radio. "Barcelona are in spectacular form. We just have to win our games. Messi really does what he wants and when he wants. When you have a player like him in a team, it's very difficult to stop him."

Iran Coach Queiroz: Messi Not Human, Should Be Banned From World Cup https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/messi-queiroz-iran_600x337.jpg
Iran manager, Carlos Queiroz, claims Argentine captain, Lionel Messi is not human and should not be allowed to take part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer.
Queiroz, who has Portuguese heritage like Messi’s rival Cristiano Ronaldo, is poised to lead Iran to their second World Cup finals in Russia. Iran will face Spain, Portugal and Morocco in Group B at the Russia 2018 World Cup while Nigeria will face Messi’s Argentina, Croatia and Iceland. The former Portuguese manager told FIFA at the two-day Team Seminar in Sochi, Russia on Tuesday that five time Ballon d ‘Or winner can punish a momentary lapse in concentration.
“I’ve always said that Messi is an extraordinary player. He’s out of this world. If he were human, he wouldn’t have had that magical moment in that match (Argentina beat Iran in the group phase with a late Messi goal),” Queiroz told FIFA.com referring to Iran’s 1-0 loss to Argentina at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
“I don’t usually like losing, but I didn’t come away from that defeat with a negative feeling.
“It’s when something magical like that happens that you know that football is alive and kicking, and that’s why it’s one of the best sports in the world to watch.
“And it’s even more of a special moment when it comes from a player who shouldn’t be allowed to play by FIFA until it’s proven that he’s actually human.”

Boshit! First of all, the position "UN Ambassador" is a non-paying position. It's a ceremonial job, the best you can get is all expenses paid travels and hotel rooms. Secondly, even if he has a paying job with the UN, I can tell you that he wouldn't be making more than $150k/year. My friend used to work for the UN and he was making only $120k/yr. The UN job is not like naija politicians where they steal you blind. Again, I repeat my question, how did he make this money? For starters , is it even his house or is he just showing off? And if it's really his house, did he purchase it mortgage free? There are so many questions and loopholes to this story. O pari zika1: Nigerians are funny sha oooo.... you think UN na moi moi? or you think because he shows you the luxurious side of his life means he doesn't work hard to earn what he has? Same difference. He hasn't watched Maduka closely either, so that's how he's sending somebody to monitor him. And this brings me back to the questions, why hasn't any of these goalkeepers been given a tryout with the Super Eagles? The way things work in Nigeria is bizarre. I heard that Ezenwa is not even the first choice goalkeeper in this team. Hence, if he isn't the best goalkeeper in his team, how in the world did he become the Super Eagles keeper? Why haven't Alloy Agu, Salisu Yusuf, and the other home based SE coaches taken the time to monitor the national league and pick out the best two goalkeepers in NPFL? There's no doubt in my mind that Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are NOT the best goalkeepers in Nigeria. O pari tbaba1234: Clean sheets in the NPFL

Uzohor was "singled out" because unlike Ezenwa, Akpeyi, and even Alampasu, Rohrs hasn't had a chance to work with him closely. However, since he showed promise in the friendly match, Rohr made a good decision by sending his assistant to give him a real tryout to determine whether he's the true deal. In addition, we don't have the resources to assign personal trainers to all the goalkeepers at the same time .... we only have one real goalkeeper trainer. O pari somehow: Yes, you stated that which gave birth to my statement on why it should be on Uzoho alone when we have issues with all the goal keepers available because i initially thought the report expected from the GK trainer was on all the GKs which is to inform Rohr's decision when it comes to positioning the GKs. maybe i confused you with the way i wrote it? What i am simply saying is "one GK shouldn't have been singled out since he's not the only one needing some brushing up, Alampasu is even there". it makes it look like "preferential treatment" by this action has been picked already and might make the rest or some of them give up already especially the Instagram Alampasu lol. well if Uzoho end up coming out good, then its a risk worth the stress.
And Yes, i don't read everything, once i check the headline and it doesn't interest me, i skip it, not peculiar to me, you might be reading everything but i doubt everyone here does. |

Well, like you said, let's hope that he has improved. O pari TheSuperNerd: Hahahahahahahahaha..... Wow! Coming from you Icon79?! But you were sky-high in confidence saying Uzoho is your choice to be our starting GK at the mundial. Lol.... Sir Tbaba1234's small dossier on goals conceded by Uzoho come make you change mind sharp sharp.... Chaaaiiiiii.... Oga mii.... Check that confidence level oooo... Lol.
Please, Sir Tbaba only posted Uzoho's downtimes naa..... Something Chief Icon4s wanted to see too.... Uzoho is not Superman and neither is he unbeatable between the sticks. He is also still growing and is just 19 naa... Abi? So relax... He is still the same Francis Uzoho with bags of top class potential which made Deportivo throw him into the deep against Eibar in the LA liga. Also, most of those goals conceeded were from way back before the Spanish article described Uzoho of now as a young goalie who learns in a week what it takes a month for others to learn. The coaches at Deportivo hace seen this lad grow into a top prospect indeed and the Uzoho of now is not the same of five or six months ago.
I know we are in a dicey situation as regards our goalies.... Lol... But fact is we must make a choice after all... Hopefully it be the best choice. More like the "best risk"
I knew that a meltdown will happen once Sir Tbaba posted the clips of Uzoho's mishaps and goals conceeded from months back.... But I didn't expect Icon79 to go into 180 degrees turn around of absolute meltdown...... He dey even ask for nationality switch for any available top flight goalie not going to world cup.... Hahahahahahahahaha..... . Omo, Bros... You dey funny I swear... Hahahahahahahahaha....
I will pay more attention to the stats that shows Uzoho had kept quite an astonishing good amount of clean sheets from a good number of games... 11 shut outs in 17 in all... Come on... Rohr seems to have made his choice to place his trust in this big young lad. Hopefully he steps up to the challenge....
But for the comments of fear and uncertainty following those clips ehn.... Chaaiiiiiiii..... Una meltdown crack me up pass...
