Your idea of achievements is objective my brother, how can I achieve what they have when we are not even in similar fields? Have they achieved what I have? Or you think I am not doing anything with my life because I don't come here to reel out names of footballers I have met? Or because I don't roll with NFF big shots? Is that your idea of achievement? Has Obasanjo achieved what Fela achieved? That is how ridiculous your comparison is
If you think it is insults, that is objective as well. It is facts to me.
After all, you never ask anyone of them what they have achieved whenever they attack our players.... Oh wait, you are one of those who calls players headless chickens

The Connecticut Lottery has an iconic TV promo, back when I lived there, it says, you can't win if you don't play. Our boys haven't progressed because, in some cases, they haven't really been given a chance to play. You can't progress if you don't play. Take the case of Kelechi, for instance, how many games has he started and completed at Leicester since the beginning of the season? Now, people would expect him to score 20 goals per season just by playing 10 mins per match, here and there. If our players start one or two games without hitting it out the park then they are exiled onto the bench for the foreseeable future. Now, how do you expect them to perform wonders? Do you know that sitting on the bench does damage to one confidence? I don't know if you know my story but I speak from experience when I say some of these things. O pari komekn: The question I will use to qualify your proposition.
How far have our youth players progressed over the years We get to very high accolades at youth level that does not transfer to professional development.
Look at the that 2005 team that included Mikel. Consider where the majority of Argentinian players have progressed to over the past 12 years and then see where our players have got too.
That observation is reflective in all our youth teams but less so since 2013. The advent of MRI scanning. |

Thank you! Just a few years ago, Pep Guardiola confessed that Ike Uche alone totally outplayed the entire Barca squad. Bottom line, out boys are better than the football clubs they play for. Out players are underrated and undervalued in Europe. There are no two ways about it. Hence, I pray and hope that we do very well in the World Cup because that's one way to increase the value of our players. O pari edi287: Yeah I remember this. Ian Wright complained of Iwobi benching him. |

Let me post this again because I think it's fitting in this instance: Mickael2 ( insert komekn here), like most football analysts, I think you're underestimating the level of Nigerian players due to the football clubs they play or do not play for. A few years ago I published an article in a Naija daily regarding a peculiar Nigerian perspectives in football. Take this for instance, when the Nigerian U-23 team lined up at the China Olympics soccer event final, the profile of the players could not have been more different from their Argentine counterparts: At CD Argentina had Ezekiel Garay of Real Madrid, Nigeria had Dele Adeleye from the bench of dutch basement club Sparta Rotterdam. Just over a year ago, he was at Shooting Stars, oscillating between Division 1 and 2. At LB, with the responsibility of marking the dreaded Leo Messi; yes Lionel Messi of Barcelona, was Chibuzor Okonkwo from Bayelsa United, a right footed player converted to LB. In CM, where Argentina had Riquelme, Gago and Mascherano, arguably the best DM in the world at that time, Nigeria presented Ebenezer Ajilore of Mydjtilland and from the bench at Sparta, Sanni Kaita. A few years ago, Ajilore plied his trade at Ebiede Babes, a Lagos youth club. But as the game unfolded, the confidence of the Nigerian players and the cautious approach their opponents showed, belied the reputation and CV of Argentina's players. This effectively proved two things, if you can believe it: (i) that the club status of the Nigerian players does not accurately reflect their real quality; and that (ii) a new measure is urgently required to determine the quality of our players; one that is not entirely dependent on the judgment of European club managers whose philosophy of the game and needs, vis a vis their clubs, may not necessarily be in alignment with the development of the average Nigerian player, or the SE. O pari komekn: If you go back further you will see where I said that the Ox was considerably ahead of him. Some castigated my view.
My final judgement call was judge my analysis by how much will be offered for both of them in the summer transfer window. That window has come and gone and the Ox is at Liverpool after rejecting crazy money to go to Chelsea. How many offers for Iwobi
Pundits talk is of no consequence and us very fickle at best. Talk to recruitment, coaches, and managers you get a completely different view.
TV pundit talk is better but quite emotive by former players but not substantive. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 9:07pm On Nov 18, 2017 |
I don't know what league you've been watching but Iwobi actually played a decent amount of games last season. Yes, he struggled to get games towards the ending of last season but by mid-season he was getting a decent amount of play time. As a matter of fact, it got to a stage where the British pundits were blaming him to OX being on the bench. If you have the time to search this particular thread, you'll find where we discussed that subject. I was one of the people who argued that the pundits were trying to unnecessarily blame Iwobi because he doesn't play the same position with the OX. O pari komekn: This discussion emanated from the proposition that Iwobi is being discriminated against because he Is Nigerian. That is the reason there was very little or no interest from other premiership clubs.
Firstly last season Iwobi was struggling for games and in many regards off the boil.
There are no issues of work permit, he is British.
Mahrez, Serge Aurier and Zaha play for CIV and Algeria respectively. These players attracted the attention of the top teams in the EPL. Thier nationality didn't cause any problems for them.
Did the nationality of KC and Ndidi hamper thier big money moves to the premiership
So yes, I don't think Iwobi faced any discrimination.
However, the issues of work permit will hamper players not from the EU and players not within the top 10 FIFA ranked national teams will struggle.
Outright discrimination no I doubt that not when you are a top performing player. |

So you don't believe that being a English player gives you more opportunities to get contracts with the big EPL teams? And you don't believe that African players are mostly undervalued and for the most part better than the clubs they play for? Interesting ..... Well, we just played Argentina last week. So let's start by comparing the pedigree of the teams their players play for and then juxtapose that with the pedigree of the clubs that our boys represent. O pari komekn: You are totally misrepresenting facts and being misleading why Emotive sentiment to over hype.
It was not too long ago that Iwobi was benched at Arsenal and as a result was struggling for games. Then Ozil got injured and Iwobi seized position once more.
The Ox was always ahead of Iwobi. yes I like Iwobi but the truth must be told. Had this discussion donkeys ago and ended with, see how much the Ox will go for in the summer transfer. I have now been very much vindicated.
Don't think there ever was a time the Ox was in contention with Iwobi so thats misrepresentation. The idea because Iwobi is Nigerian nobody wants him is totally untrue.
Zaha and Bolasie play for CIV and Congo respectively. They were in demand by the creme of the EPL so the idea because he is Nigerian. That worked against him is far from the truth. |

Smart fouls are part of the game, bro. My major concern with Ogu are the late challenges ... tackles from behind, etc. Remember how Italy took out two of our best players, without even getting a card, in the USA '94 World Cup? In Brazil, France did the same thing ... that Blaise Matuidi's challenge was a clear red card offence but he disguised it very well and got away with a yello. O pari Mujtahida: Ndidi was the roughest against Argentina. He committed more fouls than any other SE player. |
