Gernot Rohr may not be the most technically astute coach in the world but the man is ready to work and he strikes me as someone who's very organized. We will definitely do well in Russia if the NFF continues to give him a free hand and gives him everything he needs. O pari terzurum5: Rohr Eyes Six Super Eagles Friendlies Before Russia 2018
https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/2-2.jpg
By Dare Esan: Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr believes his side will need up to six friendly matches to be in optimum shape for the Russia 2018 World Cup, Comple tesportsnigeria.com reports.
The team will face Argentina in a high-profile friendly on Tuesday in Krasnodar, Russia but Rohr, who has guided the Super Eagles to the World Cup via an unbeaten qualifying campaign, wants much more.
“It’s very good we have two games to prepare our team between November and March but it is not enough,” Rohr told Comple tesportsnigeria.com.
“We’ll like two games in May, two games at the start of June. We could have six games during the pre-World Cup preparation, with training sessions used as match conditions.”
The only FIFA window for international matches between now and the World Cup in June is 19 to 27 March where two friendlies can be played.
But friendly games can be organised after the European season in May when teams begin intensive camping for the World Cup.

I think you guys are still misunderstanding what I was trying to say. I was just responding to the claim that we have always started slowly in all our games. That claim is not accurate because we have started very well in certain games even if we didn't score early. Secondly, you guys are making an assumption that Zambia, Cameroun, and Algeria are not tactically good teams? Are you aware that we're the only team that Zambia lost to in the whole qualifiers? Same with Cameroun! And by the way, this same Cameroun team went to the Confed Cup and they were not disgraced. Please let's not write them off because they lost to us, they are a pretty decent team. Listen, there are only 3 countries that I am worried about in Russia: Brazil, Germany, and Argentina (if they can get it together). As per France, Belgium, and the other countries .... let them bring it on! O pari Mujtahida: It's not about goals. It's about our style. Anyway maybe that's our own uniqueness but the disadvantage of a style is that tactical teams can easily dismantle you unless you have very good players. |

Omo, I wasn't getting involved in the argument. I was just responding to one quote in what you posted - the highlighted portion. I have watched all Barca's games these seasons and I am not sure that Paulihno has started more than 3 games in total, so it's totally false to claim that he has started ALL games since he joined Barca. Have you seen him (Idowu) play before? As concerns to Aina, he gave a decent performance on very poor playing conditions (pitch, weather etc). Personally, I think he's an upgrade on Echiejile. However, if Idowu can man the LB very well then Aina should fight with Shehu for the RB position. Aina is a natural RB. O pari Napoleon55: i have the feeling that Idowu is going to steal the show . beside i'm not yet convinced about Aina over Echiejile. i think the right back is settled for now,but Rohr still need to test Aina at right back in case of anything happens to Shehu. |

Bingo! Truer words have never been spoken. You don tok am finis ... to add anything else would be most uncivilized. O pari Joebie: Rohr will make the best decision for the interest of the team, considering other factors. For now, Aina is ahead of Echiejile at LB. If Idowu fails to come better than Aina at LB, it will be in the best interest of the team to keep Aina at LB. Modified: But if Idowu proves to be a very solid LB, then we can start talking about who is a better RB between Aina and Shehu. Then Aina should have his chance at RB in friendlies. |

This is a freaking lie. How many Barca's games have you watched this season O pari kingphilip: the players you put up there as being considered by Brasil were NEVER considered during their time in the Chinese league. Hulk was considered before he went there; Paulinho was considered after he went there and have been starting ever since he joined Barcelona; Tardelli just got only a call up which is the last game and sincerely i don't know where he plies his trade presently; Oscar was a regular before he went to China and haven't been called up since then even to be a training material even at his very young age which should be between 27-28 years.
does it really mean both Oscar and Hulk suddenly loss form since they went to China or Paulinho is now competing for world best winning various MOTM since he came to Barcelona?
are these players Defoe, Alves, Robben, Evra, in the Chinese league too? |

Personally, I would prefer a midfield combo of: Mikel-Ndidi-Etebo (with Mikel partnering Ndidi in the DM and Etebo as the CM), but this last game hasn't really helped Etebo's cause. However, I would like to see Etebo play CM when Mikel (or a true playmaker) is on the field. Having said all that, I think that Rohr would stick with Onazi-Ndidi-Mikel combo in Russia. And I won't blame him either, though I still have concerns over Onazi's rough tackles. I am afraid that the Euro refs would punish such tackles ... esp if they feel that Nigeria is playing well. O pari Danielnino00: Do you think the Ndidi-Onazi-Mikel midfield combo should be Rohr first choice in Russia?? If not, who would u rather like to see in the midfield??

No, he wasn't fantastic but, based on what I saw yesterday, he was head and shoulders above Echiejile, both offensively and defensively. And you gotta consider that this is his real debut .... I wouldn't count the previous two cameo appearances. O pari somehow: Aina wasn't fantastic yesterday, he was just average bro, he needs to do more if he wants to send Ederson permanently to the bench. Can't really say he did badly cos the pitch surface made a mess for some of them. |

Thank you! Remember, this is the same team that was unable to qualify for the past TWO AFCONs! Now, we've qualified for the World Cup with a game to spare and some morons here have the audacity to criticize the coach This is the same argument I was trying to make a few days ago regarding the way some folks tend to run their mouths on here. We all know better than Rohr, yet none of us have coached any country and qualified them for the World Cup. Bizarre people O pari realpoacher: Am sure you will do better than Rohr. When some of you criticise, you do it so blindly that it looks like you have a personal score to settle with the coach. Give this man some credit. This is the first time in a long while that we qualified without calculator and here with a game to spare, Algeria needed a dubious referee assisted penalty to draw at their own backyard against our second team. What were you expecting?, that we go there and whitewash them?... Na we buy boot for dem?
Some of you guys here with negative words, criticism, and "never see good in Rohr" are a suspect. I believe that besides our team's success, you guys might have an ulterior motives.
I mean how else do one explain the name calling and demeaning remarks on this match and on our players.?.. In the viewing center where I just watched this game, applause and praises were all the players received only to come online to read this rubbish!
I am beginning to think that many of you are kids who knows nothing about our history in football or better still you guys are all foreign based Nigerians who are just beginning to show interest in our football.
That should be the only reason why you guys throw new players at the coaching crew upandan and making weird statements calling it tactics.
From time immemorial, apart from westerhof. Rohr is the only foreigner doing something great about the Super Eagles, heck it took almighty westerhof 4 years to do what Rohr is doing for us under a year. And the best you lots can do is to criticise, insult and demean his ability, capability and achievements so far.
I don't blame you, you all probably won't be saying this had we been stucked at the bottom of this group, to which the worst you would have done is to sack him.
Armchair coach is what I call you all, and not until you guys take up a coaching job, it remains so.
Honestly it is nauseating reading many negative comments here. Just imagine you wishing us to lose, you have been saying it since last month. And since we didn't lose today, instead of running home with your tail in between your legs, you are making a lame attempt at being a contempt.
If you can't support this team positively, abeg maintain your Lane.

Yea, the biggest discovery today is that we now have a decent LB. I will scream blue murder if Echiejile ever starts ahead of Aina again. I think the team is gradually getting set. We still need a true top striker along with another playmaker besides Mikel. O pari solonnachi: I know Ekong covered up for Balogun no thanks to his injury. But I think the back 4 complemented for each other well. They all covered up for themselves. Check out the classy play if Aina & Shehu. I think 2 and 3 have been covered. And if Brian Idowu joins up with the eagles in Russia, then Echiejile may face stiff competition.
Ezenwa is -1. His shakara was too much. Yet he was caught many times in no man's land.
Rohr has not studied our boys well. Poor technical input tonight |

Iheanacho and Iwobi were played in the wrong positions, so they can be excused. Ezenwa showed his weakness today. I think the search for goalkeeper continues .... Nwakaeme is not an Eagles material. I would be surprised if he gets invited back Leon Balogun has his absolute worst game in the super eagles jersey today. So why were you impressed with him? I think the face mask impacted his game and probably the captain's armband as well. Some players just don't play very well when given the added burden of the captain's armband - examples: Harry Kane and Neymar. O pari solonnachi: I was disappointed with Ezenwa, Nwakaeme, Iwobi & Iheanacho.
However, I was impressed with the 4 man back line is Aina, Shehu, Balogun & Ekong did well.
