datbay: Honestly,am disappointed in fashola,it seems Jonathan is becoming too lenient. These APC governors have no respect for the president.Disappointed? For saying the truth? Read part of what Fashola said: Fashola insisted that Jonathan’s attitude was “Truly strange and Truly unAfrican”He asked, “How does this sound? ‘Hello neighbour, I heard you lost your child to abductors. Please come and see me at home so I can sympathise with you’.“This is my paraphrasing of what has so far transpired. As if this was not bad enough, the event had been followed by another round of lies about whether or not they tried to give money to the bereaved parents. For me, it’s a low point for leadership, it suggests lack of empathy.”According to him, “The first lie when the news of the abduction broke was that all the abducted girls had been retrieved. When that was exposed, the next lie was to raise doubts whether they were truly missing. “When that was not enough, they are now telling us that they know where the children are. We are prayerfully waiting that they will bring the children home.” |

Utter rubbish. Maryln Ogar should know better, how on earth would she say APC offered them money. Is APC a person? Who exactly in the APC offered the money? When is the person going to be prosecuted? Clearly, Ogar was partisan in her responses this morning. Rather than address the issue she was busy throwing jibes at APC. She told us how APC thugs were arrested with charms but refused to tell us how many PDP thugs were arrested. Or PDP didn't use thugs? She even asked what was an old man like Lai Muhammed doing outside between 11pm and 12am on Friday. When has it become the responsibility of the DSS to determine where a free Nigerian should be at any given time? Is there not freedom of movement anymore? |

ChelseaKings: Please let us get it straight and lay all these confusion to rest... Any university that the Engineering faculty has not been accredited, the engineering courses are still under physical sciences and their degree will be Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.Sc Engineering). Once the engineering courses are accredited as faculty, they are on their own and the degree gotten from there will be pure B.Engineering. Is like that in every part of the world. Hope this is clear. Top of the morning to you guys. What you don't know you don't say. |

bot101: under his is presidency, nigeria became africa's largest and most sought after economy despite insurgency and unstable power supply. just imagine what would happen if we are able to achieve stable power supply. so much for a DAFT and CLUELESS president. What shall it profit a president who govern 'africa's largest and most sought after economy' when its citizen cannot sleep with two eyes closed? What is the primary purpose of a government? |
I'm sure it's APC that doled out the N22.4m to the Chibok community in order to tarnish the reputation of the president. |
At first it was no money was given now it is the President was not aware of any decision to bribe anybody. Who is fooling who? And who is this special adviser on special duties? Why is his/her name not mentioned? It's clear there's a lot of money being thrown around in the presidency. N22.4 million? And the president does not know about it ? Who then know about it? America? |
The Presidency on Friday insisted that President Goodluck Jonathan did not direct anybody to share money to the parents of the schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Borno State, and their colleagues who escaped after his meeting with them. Jonathan had on July 22 met with parents of the girls abducted from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, by Boko Haram insurgents. The meeting, which was held 99 days after the abduction, also had Chibok community leaders in attendance. Some of the parents had in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation alleged that a gift of N100m was given to them through their leaders in Abuja, who decided to short-change them. In his response, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, had dismissed the allegation as “completely untrue.” Abati said the onus laid on those who made the allegation to prove it. Less than 24 hours after, the Kibaku Area Development Association (Chibok community) made it clear that the Presidency shared N22.4m to those who attended the meeting. The association in a press statement signed by its spokesman, Dauda Ilya, said 63 individuals, comprising 51 escaped girls were given N100,000 each, while 51 parents equally received N100,000 each, and another 61 parents got N200,000 each. Ilya said the money was given to the beneficiaries in their hotel rooms by the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties. He added that 10 parents out of the 122 that took part in the meeting with Jonathan did not receive any money. But Abati, in an exclusive interview with SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday, insisted that the President was not aware of any decision to bribe anybody. He said the allegation could be an attempt to frustrate efforts of the Federal Government aimed at rescuing the over 200 girls still in captivity and to alleviate their parents’ pains. Rather, the presidential spokesman stated that the allegation would be thoroughly investigated. He, however, did not disclose the agency of government that will carry out the investigation or when such will be done. Abati said, “I have already made it clear that what they are saying is completely unknown to the President. He did not direct anybody to go and give bribe to anyone. “The attempt to make a big issue out of this looks like an attempt to frustrate efforts of the administration at ensuring that everything within the powers of government is done to bring back the girls and to alleviate the frustrations and pain of the parents “This kind of frustration to drag the name of the President into the matter, the allegation, if there is any iota of seriousness in it, will be fully investigated.” |
A lot of people say APC is not the kind of opposition they want for Nigeria and I ask,is the PDP the kind of ruling party they want? Even if APC does not provide the platform for a good opposition, should we not start from somewhere? Today,Nigerian electorates are driven by one of religion, ethnicity or personal interest. Let's look at these; Shekarau ,the former governor of Kano, was an advocate of a Northern presidency but today his political colour has changed , he now supports GEJ because of personal interest What about Asari Dokubo? He wants GEJ to continue not because he is 'performing' but because GEJ is from the South-South. Another case is that of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor,he supports GEJ for two reasons; he benefits from his govt and that GEJ is a Christian. And that explains the Nigerian story. Most electorates vote for those reasons above. The PDP wins elections all around Nigeria not because the electorates love the party but because the PDP have enough money to throw around . The PDP is the most hated political party in Nigeria, but in the midst of very glaring, pervasive and prevalent poverty that ravages the Nigerian masses , with a bowl of expired rice and adulterated kerosene, a gullible electorate would love PDP from the bottom of his heart. Those who are in the corridors of power want GEJ to continue so that the 'chop chop' would continue , nothing more. The Nigerian political environment is not driven by performance but by what I refer to as 'unavoidable constraints';religion, ethnicity and personal interest . May God save this country |

The discovery of a baby placenta in the residence of a man, identified simply as Alfa Gani, is causing confusion in the Laduba community, Ogidi area of Ilorin, Kwara State. Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that the discovery was made when some volunteers went round the Laduba community to appeal for financial contributions from residents for the repair of a faulty transformer in the area. It was said that the volunteers perceived offensive odour at Gani’s residence, which they later reported to other members of the community. It was said that curious to know what smelled, some members of the community rushed to Gani’s residence and demanded an explanation for the offensive odour oozing from his house. An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told PUNCH Metro that Gani initially accused the community members of intruding into his privacy. He was said to have rushed to the Oloje Police Station to report the community members. The source added that before Gani could come back with the police, the community members had entered his house and discovered a boy with a baby placenta. The enraged community members were said to have beaten up the boy, making him to confess that he was asked to prepare a charm by Gani, who allegedly exhumed the placenta. While this was going on, our correspondent gathered that a woman, whose baby naming ceremony was recently held near Gani’s house, arrived at the scene. On seeing the placenta, she was said to have rushed to where the placenta of her new-born baby was buried, only to discover that it was missing. She was said to have raised the alarm, alerting the community members to the ugly development. When he came back with the policemen to arrest the community members, the commotion was still in progress. The source said, “The residents narrated their discovery to the policemen. It was at that point that the policemen decided to search the entire house including an uncompleted building behind the suspect’s house, after which they discovered some human parts.” It was gathered that the enraged mob vandalised Gani’s house and set it on fire. Our correspondent gathered that the policemen, who were overwhelmed by the crowd, managed to prevent them from lynching the suspect as they whisked Gani away to their station. It was learnt that the incident fuelled speculations that there were dens of ritual killers and markets where human parts were traded in Ilorin. The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, however, told our correspondent that there was no den of ritual killers in the state capital. He said, “That is not true. What was discovered was not a den of ritual killers, but a suspected criminal who was used to performing fetish activities. “The man was looking for a placenta of a new baby, exhumed the buried placenta and used it for whatever yet-to-be identified purpose. “He just came back from jail. He went to where a placenta was just buried about three days ago before the incident. He dug up the placenta and while he was doing that, people saw him and tried to do things their own way. In the process of damaging his house by the youth, the police got there and arrested the suspect with the exhibit. “The police have started investigation to get to the root of the matter.” |
