I was shaken this afternoon when i went to Wuse Market. I could not believe my eyes; Wuse Market has gone back to the pre El-Rufai era. Streets have been turned to market...wares scattered around. Touts are now the order of the day. Yet, Bala Mohammed was recently conferred with a National Award. Where is the dude that posted the FCT good governance tour pictures. He needs to take a visit to Wuse Market and see what the Market has turned into.

Why protest because of 15k increment? If truly our students expect to get good education then they should be ready to pay more. |
Nnamsco4real: Mtcheww! Why am I bothered about this health news of this woman? If the govt is not willing to talk something on this matter, then screw the whole stories. Nonsense, this will never change the price of Garri or groundnut in Abakpa main market.Price of gini? my hand no dey o... |
Walahi i'm tired of all these speculations...since the Presidency kept mute, then i care less! Quick recovery madam Dame! We miss you, please come back home to your kids. |
zeefa: Mr man, can you compare the facilities there with what we have in Nigeria. Common, don't be nutty! Try and visit d white man country and see how things work accordingly.Mr Man, you are the one who is nutty here cos you failed to understand my point. We are not talking about how things work or don't work. My point is clear, we can also host our debates in the University community. When we do this, then our leaders will appreciate the academic community. Students will also be happy to see their future leaders seated and drilled! #just_saying!!! |
TV Channels – Each debate will be broadcast live on C-SPAN, ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, as well as all cable news channels including CNN, Fox News and MSNBC among others.University is the venue...but in Nigeria, they will look for International Conference Centre, Transcorp, Eko Hotel etc to showoff. Whatever happened to Trenchard (UI), Amphi Theatre (OAU) or UNILAG Auditorium. SMH for 9ja |

List of Universities with Approved Postgraduate Programmes The National Universities Commission (NUC) has observed with great concern that some Nigerian universities are running unapproved postgraduate programmes, leading to the award of Masters and PhD degrees. The Commission has also observed that some Parastatals and Institutes are awarding these same Postgraduate degrees, either on their own or through unapproved affiliations with Nigerian and foreign Universities. Such practices are not only unethical, but also antithetical to time-tested quality assurance best practices. The qualifications/awards resulting therefrom are not recognized. The Commission hereby notifies the general public that only the following universities have approval to offer postgraduate programmes at the Masters’ and Ph.D levels in Nigeria, as of 30th July, 2012: Federal Universities 1. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University,Bauchi 2. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria 3. Bayero University, Kano 4. Federal University of Technology,Akure 5. Federal University of Technology,Minna 6. What Do Statisticians Do? The world is becoming quantitative. More and more professions, from the everyday to the exotic, depend on data and numerical reasoning. Data are not just numbers, but numbers that carry information about a specific setting and need to be interpreted in that setting. With the growth in the use of data comes a growing demand for the services of statisticians, who are experts in the following: Producing trustworthy data Analyzing data to make their meaning clear Drawing practical conclusions from data Examples of Statistics Careers Medicine The search for improved medical treatments rests on careful experiments that compare promising new treatments with the current state of the art. Statisticians work with medical teams to design experiments and analyze the complex data they produce. Environment Studies of the environment require data on the abundance and location of plants and animals, on the spread of pollution from its sources, and on the possible effects of changes in human activities. The data are often incomplete or uncertain, but statisticians can help uncover their meaning. Industry The future of many industries and their employees depends on improvement in the quality of goods and services and the efficiency with which they are produced and delivered. Improvement should be based on data, rather than guesswork. More companies are installing elaborate systems to collect and act on data to better serve their customers. Government Surveys How many people are unemployed this month? What do we export to China, and what do we import? Are rates of violent crime increasing or decreasing? The government wants data on issues such as these to guide policy, and government statistics agencies provide them by surveys of households and businesses. Market Research Are consumer tastes in television programs changing? What are promising locations for a new retail outlet? Market researchers use both government data and their own surveys to answer questions such as these. Statisticians design the elaborate surveys that gather data for both public and private use. |
What Is Statistics? Statistics is the science of learning from data, and of measuring, controlling, and communicating uncertainty; and it thereby provides the navigation essential for controlling the course of scientific and societal advances (Davidian, M. and Louis, T. A., 10.1126/science.1218685). Statisticians apply statistical thinking and methods to a wide variety of scientific, social, and business endeavors in such areas as astronomy, biology, education, economics, engineering, genetics, marketing, medicine, psychology, public health, sports, among many. "The best thing about being a statistician is that you get to play in everyone else's backyard." (John Tukey, Bell Labs, Princeton University) Many economic, social, political, and military decisions cannot be made without statistical techniques, such as the design of experiments to gain federal approval of a newly manufactured drug. Job Characteristics Use data to solve problems in a wide variety of fields Apply mathematical and statistical knowledge to social, economic, medical, political, and ecological problems Work individually and/or as part of an interdisciplinary team Travel to consult with other professionals or attend conferences, seminars, and continuing education activities Advance the frontiers of statistics, mathematics, and probability through education and research If you enjoy any of these, a career in statistics may be right for you! Statisticians provide crucial guidance in determining what information is reliable and which predictions can be trusted. They often help search for clues to the solution of a scientific mystery and sometimes keep investigators from being misled by false impressions. |
Adolite: They Failed to Dualize ABUJA to LOKOJA for many years now.....WHy celebrating what they have not completed yet, they always start but they dont finish, stop praising yet. What about University of Abuja Students of this University are still studying under trees. I visited Idu-Karmo (a suburb in FCT) last week...the journey that was suppose to take about 15-20mins from Jabi lasted over 1 hour due to bad road. They should tell us something else joor. |
PhatIon: Mr. Idmanzik: I really appreciate people like you; who look at life objectively, don't think that other people's success is a threat to them, who do not even mind assisting or encouraging other's success and who would not try to undermine first class honours degree holders because they're not, but actually appreciate them and wish them well. I didn't know you before now, but I believe that you have a great potential for success in you by virtue of the fact that you're not angry about other people's success. Like I said previously, I didn't know you before now, notwithstanding I have one great prayer for you straight from my heart, it is: MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND MAKE YOU VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH WHATEVER CLASS OF DEGREE YOU GRADUATED WITH (AMEN).PhatIon, thank you very much for your prayer. I pray you also be among the top 100 in the PRESSID scholarship. God bless you!!! |
The info on GEJ rejecting the initial list is correct. I was at NUC on Monday and heard a Head of Department saying that the President even insisted that if two or three candidates from the same family is among the top 100 then so be it. Well, congrats to you all. I have been following this thread even though i am not a first class graduate ![]() |
The Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Cyprian Onyeji, who was kidnapped on August 15, 2012, has been released. Onyeji was released at about 11:30pm in Anambra State. He was left by his kidnappers at Igbariam area of area of Anambra State. He was reported hale and hearty when he was released and has since been reunited with his family. The police in Enugu State confirmed his release but did not give details. Onyeji was abducted from the ESUT gate as he was going to his office by gunmen who later called his family to demand for a ransom of N200 million. Ten gunmen on Wednesday abducted the Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Technology, Prof. Cyprian Onyeji.Prof. Cyprain Onyeji is the right man who has brought back sanity to ESUT. I can deduce from the punch news that this has nothing to do with a cult group. Prof. Onyeji may have stepped on toes while trying to sanitize the already battered "ESUT image". Remember few months ago, over 500 illegal students (students who obtained admission through back door) were expelled from the University. He also arranged with the police and army to get rid of cultists in the school, thanks for the support of Governor Chime. Over 100 students of the institution denounced cultism, those who could not bear the heat went into hidding. ESUT held it's 14th convocation after over a decade thanks to Professor Onyeji. The man also instituted scholarship for deserving students with a Cumulative Grade Point of 4.00 and above. These and many more are the achievements of Prof. Onyeji in less than 2 years. Success they say have many enemies, his enemies are at work. My prayer is that he comes out ALIVE. |
@OP, unfortunately WAEC GCE form is no longer on sale. NECO GCE form is not yet on sale, so you can try your luck. violent: My advise for you will be to learn to stop typing in text speak. Nothing is guaranteed to spoil your grammar faster than the frequent use of wrong words-- "Am ashamed of myself" should really be "I'm ashamed of myself" --- or the use of shortcuts.Funny enough the OP failed (D7) English Language. @OP, see the bold in your post, you may unknowingly have used abbreviated words in your WASSCE English Language. You have to take corrections. Nkonadi: I really Nid Advice Here pls... My may/june result is a big mess... Am ashamed of my self... |
Now more reasons to weep because i missed first class by very little margin. I wish you guys the best. I heard only 100 would be selected at the end. Well done guys! See you at the top. Please don't forget your roots o |
usermane: During my 200l as an undergraduate, i nvr missed an examination, but i missed several tests.Haha...Pele. I can't remember missing any test, but can still remember how i almost missed an exam in my final year. It was a very cold morning and the exam was scheduled for 9am. I stayed in the University Hall of residence back in school. I woke up very early that exam, did all necessary stuffs and was ready to leave to hostel at about 8:30am. Then this heavy downpour came...i concluded that exams won't commence until after the rain. At about 9:20am, a friend called to inform me that the exam was already on. He lied to excuse himself just to place that call to me. You need to see how i ran for about 1km not minding any obstacle around... |
This pretty baby was brought by her mom during the Passing Out Parade (POP) ceremony in Kubwa Camp Abuja. You need to see how Corp Members were dragging just to take a shot with her...the baby's mom was all smiles.

So stupid of a University of 52 years (apologies to my lions and lionesses). Why should such materials be printed outside the University community? UNN is big or old enough to have their own printing press. Abeg make them free the 23-year old boy joor. Have they arraigned all those useless lecturers that sell grades? Naija for show! |
donpeluchi: The system aint working!Gbam! passionate88: most states school does that... I am not so sure about federals..Federal schools also do same...top on the list is University of Nigeria Nsukka. Instead of selling result checking cards, why not include the cost of the card in the form. |
Thanks
