Goodmorning Mr Demola Ajao, I appreciates your effort on this thread and the hints and insights you have been giving so far. Please advice me; I have been doing variousesearch on my next car, am a Honda Fan boy. I seeing the 2018/20 Honda Accord Hybrid Base Model which i will be fully be in the market for in the next few days. Of course, I will be buying as Foreign used or Toks Standard. I have researched this car model, and It is an Hybrid car in the real sense not a plug-in Hybrid and also bit of the EV vehicle. Knowing fully well of the majorly lack of expertise, what are your Advise. Temitope, Ikorodu, Lagos. |
@Spoilerx, I bought 4 Packs of HCF CVT oils from a dealers from Tradefair market. You can also get it from @Luvinghubby at Oyingbo market, search for @Luvinghubby here on Nairaland. Be waring of were you get it from because of fake products. My CVT has always been a so smooth ride back to back especially when you are going at constant speed, it drives so smooth, so smooth is the word. |
I will buy and buy the Honda Products, again and again. Am only selective and watch out for the models I buy.... after a thorough research. Thank you. |
Goodevening Everyone, I have been following this thread base on my recent experience of timing belt on Honda Civic. It is important say this that am an Honda fan, I Love their Honda cars, except for their few automobiles like the old Pilots SUV and the Ridgeline Picksup which I think they are not edge to edge with their other competitors. I just bought a Toks Standard Honda Civic and just about after like 10days of driving the car, the timing belt snaps suddenly, a called a kazeem, he came and replaced the belt, moment, he started the car, the timing belt snaps immediately again. We repeated this process 3 different time simultaneously within a space of 2 days, it still keeps cutting few seconds after starting the engine. At this point the kazeem is getting frustrated, I was getting pained because of the costing of the timing belt. When the 2 Senior mechanics came to examine the situation, they suggested I changed the 2 Gork pulley teeth., and also the bought tokunbo timing belt. The kazeem guy, did the replacement, the he notice that the adjuster nut is not tight enough and the threading is weak and about to worn out. He called, a turner to drill the adjuster thread and, and relighting the adjuster bolt. After all these, he replaced the timing belt, and boom, everything seems perfect. He reved, the car multiple times, and the timing belt seems to be perfect eventhough am still observing the situation. All this processes took us 3 days, from Thursday to Saturday, Kazeem was already getting frustrated. I was also getting pained of the costing and order of materials from Oyingbo to Ikorodu. In the whole of this, what I learnt was the adjuster is a primary fulcrum in that process and the adjuster bolt must NOT be tight at all. If you tight the adjuster bolt or if it misaligned, it will cut the belt. If the adjuster positioning is aligned, with the other pulleys and it loosen, a bit for it to adjust and undulating. You are 100% good.. I decide to share my experience, inspite that, I love Honda Technology, it is just the technical know-how we suffer from, has a result of Bad Mechanics. |
@Nurey My 2014 Accord is a 2.4L engine with CVT. Got is the car 2022 at 125,000 miles and it is 3years now, I have only change the CVT oil with HCF, 4pieces of 1litre bottles when I was experiencing jerking at between 20- 30 MPH. I take my maintenance so religiously, the engine oil has Mobil 0w-20 from Mobil dealership. No issues, at all.. I think most people that had issues, with CVT must have either used non-recommended oil or has totally neglected maintaiance. Am fine with CVT, the starting can be slow but at optimum speed, Don't Dare it or under estimate it. No issues, at all... CVT has been seamless.. @Chingyyyy878 I will recommend and rate the Honda Accord 2013 - 2017 over the Camry of same generation. I own the Accord 2013 and my Elder bro own the Camry, 2013, i4 engines. The only difference is that the camry has a good pickup. Every other thing the Accord dusts the Camry. Hence, my choice for the 1.5t engine or Hybrid for the Accord 2020. I prioritise fuel economy, it is a Rule of Thumb for me. |
Thank you @Nurey. I appreciates your feedback. @Trymeee, Thanks The 2014, Honda Accord is superb and great emotional attachment to it. I think the @seatrade accord na N1.5T, truly my reviews as has correctly shows that most issues are from the 1.5t engines. But I just wanted a fuel economy car, I DON'T drive like Formular 1 or Michael Schumacher. I don't do all those James Bond Driving, maybe, just maybe once in a very very long while, I can do not certainly not. Infact, I don't even rev. my cars, I just start the engine and engage to drive after like a minute or 2mins. |
Am thinking of getting this car very soon, Honda Accord 2020, infact, I have watched a lot of reviews and comments but i think the 2019 upward has been modified better than 2018 the entry level. @Kingreign, @Nurey @Heavenlybang, What should I watch out in buying this car. Is it true that Turbo engines are problematic to Direct injection engines. I currently use a 2014 Honda Accord and want to upgrade to a 2020 Honda Accord. Anticipates your responses, experts in the house. |

tsiriman:Nice update man. Thanks. Do you still use the car, tell now. |
Soldier go, soldier come. We cannot denied the cultural practice of polygamy and patriarchy in Africa. Any man can have the will of polygamy, so far he can cater for them all. |
This car is a great Car, the best Accords of all generations and one of the Best and Classic Sedans in terms of durability and performance with other features you can find around. This Car dusts it peers, a user will convince you, how great the car is. It commands respect than it other Sedans. |
Infact, driving the car that long distance will make you attest to what you have bought. I think most Nigerian likes short distance drives which makes our car engine unhealthy most sometimes, unlike the Americans that can drive cross country with their families. Do you think Americans don't also that have insecurity issues along their border lines. Enough, enough of insecurity issues along their border lines, but some of them still drives the cross country distances. For me, I will prefer to witness a professional long drive on that 2020 Honda Accord having purchase a full cover insurance here in Lagos. A long distance drive like that will make your car engine healthier and blast out your carbons. Cars engines are not necessarily built for short or city driving all the time. Long distance drives makes your engine healthier and in top shape. Do you think, your HONDA ACCORD 30,000miles is only achieved through city driving in the USA, that's a lie if you believe so. I can tell you that 30,000miles has cross the country like 2 twice if not more. |
72hours to transport my 2020 Honda from Lagos to Abuja, I no sure say I go sleep for that 3days. I prefer to buy full cover insurance in Lagos, get a well experience and patient driver and drive with with him, in less than 8hours broad daylight me and my car is already in my house at Abuja. I love to handle such precious values myself, so I can account for it, I hate stories. |
Kingdemu:Everyone as spoken well, as for me the cost to get the car to Abuja is not important but the safety of the Abuja should be the top priority. I think I will get a well experienced and patient driver that knows the road terrain well and I will drive with him. 72hours is too long a time to commit my car to a logistics company at the middle of no where. A well experienced and patient driver that knows the road terrain very well will avoid major potholes, more so your Accord 2020 shock absorber and brake disc obviously will still be at top notch. Even my 2013 Accord absorbers are still gallant to the teeth. |
This ride is one of the best ride you can buy in town at this season. It is so sweet with great exterior, interior and performance. You can hardly go wrong with this car, it nailed the mated camry in all ramifications you can think of. Honda Accord 2013 - 2022 generations are the world best mid-size Sedan cars you can think of. I will do Accord again and again... Great engineering at it best. |
@OP To the best of my knowledge building materials is a good type of business with good return on investment I won't advise you to go into cement, reason being that that profit margin on cement sales in small and at the same time it ties down your money because of the vaule on the cost of cement. The profit margins on cement is just like 100 - 200 Naira but of you don't mind the profit margin, it is a cool business. N4million might be small to begin a cement business on a large or supply scale. |
Local gospel, songs. |
Omoawoke:@OP @NUREY @HEAVENLYBANG @GAZZUZZ @PIYKEL How can we avoid this, in case when we want to change our brake pads. I use same car. |
This car is superb. Infact I will advise anyone going for it to not hesitate. It is a good car with great efficency. Just stick to all recommended oils and fluids...and you will use it still the Parts fall off the Road. Great car. |
accelion:Please go ahead to purchase the Car. It is mostly fault free if well maintained with required oils and fluid. It hardly give you issues, and a good driving experience is assured. It is a car I so much love, and I went for it. It is hard for you to abuse the car because, it is very temperamental. Any wrong oil into the car, it will show you it bad side immediately but if you keep up with the required oils. You will just only put fuel and zooooom off |

bagger293:Thank you @Bagger Appreciates your response. I saw registered Evil Spirit at good deals within the range of N2m but I prefer the 2013/15 model because there is alot of improvement in the 2013/15 and it is worth all the patient required. Hope you enjoying your new ride. |
dadabashua1:@Dadabashua You are correct. I actually meant a Registered Toks Standard 2013/14 Honda Accord with a budget of N3m I actually I saw a fantastic deal for N2.5m at Ejigbo, but I wasn't fast enough while I was still making a few research. Am optimistic that with being faithfully patient. Someone can get a good deal within that budget range, it is just a matter of time. |
