durobraham - well said, I second your statement!
Family / Re: Our Attitude Towards Teenage Pregnancy by iDo3: 1:12am On Jun 08, 2012
No parent prays for a teenage boy or girl to conceive a child. Most parents try their best to tell children to avoid such. Most men and women responding to this topic have engaged and still engage in pre-marital sex. So there is a chance even with condoms of pregnancy. Even married men abandon their families so why are we surprised that boys and young men abandon their girlfriends.

All we are saying is that if it occurs then try to manage it by not compounding the situation. Using extreme examples of people in the ghettos might not be suitable. Even some children born to ghetto uneducated parents turn out to be excellent outstanding citizens.

In my humble opinion we should try not to play God but simply try to make a not so good situation better not worse.

At least with a child that is born there is hope and opportunity to get some good. With an aborted child we never know.

Ben Carson the African American Neurosurgeon was raised by a single mother. I don't think we should take absolute positions regarding abortion.

I am pro-choice but if I have a daughter and she gets pregnant as a teenager I will encourage and support her in keeping the child. I am a little older and wiser now, I have seen how life is not so linear and orderly. Like they say hind sight is 20-20.

Yes I will easily and gladly either adopt or marry a woman with a child if we are compatible.
Family / Re: Our Attitude Towards Teenage Pregnancy by iDo3: 12:46am On Jun 08, 2012
Yes there are many in juvenile prison - but children from "proper" homes with mother and father and rich professionals also are in prison - such as the recent underwear bomber and many Nigerian boys and girls from rich homes scamming and transporting drugs.

No one wants a teenager to get pregnant, but the cure should not be worse than the misdemeanor.

durobraham - has spoken with wisdom and compassion.

I was raised by a single mother, her husband abandoned her. I was able to graduate from University and managing my life very well, I also respect and understand what women go through. I make it a point to treat women, especially single mothers with compassion and dignity.

Some of these men here talking ABSOLUTES regarding this topic are obviously still young 20's and early 30's most likely. I will not argue with them. Life is the ultimate teacher. In time they will revisit this topic and realize that their extreme views are misguided.

There are many REAL men that marry and help raise wonderful children of another WEAK man. For example Reggie Bush (NFL player) gave kudos and much praise to his step Dad while he never mentioned the sperm donor. Most of these young men talking of Abortion carelessly do not know what the future will hold. I have some friends from University days that rushed their girlfriends to Abortions and today wish they could have those children back that they discarded.

Young men be patient, considerate and compassionate - the future is a few years away. Who knows what it holds.

Good for her!
I wish more Nigerian and African women go to the UK to have children.
The mess they contributed to with colonization is costing us way more than 200,000 pounds.

Thank God at least one thief on his way to prison!

Now if we could get the other thousands in elected and appointed government jobs extradited to stand trial in civilized countries maybe we can get some progress in this country!

All our so called religious people continue to support crooks in public offices and at our ministries look at the state of our country today!

I hope he rots in prison!
Family / Re: Is Marriage Worth It For Guys? by iDo3: 4:43am On Feb 02, 2012
This thread is sad - it reveals the state of affairs in the world not just Nigeria. Good women meet bad men and Good men meet bad women! Creating overall distrust on all sides real shame.
Family / Re: Is Marriage Worth It For Guys? by iDo3: 4:40am On Feb 02, 2012
Marriage is a coming together of two souls MORE than money or possessions.  When Steve Jobs passed on he was not thinking of his money but of his wife, children and family.  His money would not mourn or remember him - nor would chasing women for conquests earn you any pleasant memories - trust me I have been there.

Young men please spend time becoming a DECENT MAN, then you can also attract a decent woman.  Money and possessions will be the last thing on your mind when you meet a compatible woman.
Career / Re: Who Is More Promiscuous? Female Bankers Or Nurses ? by iDo3: 8:54pm On Jan 28, 2012
Promiscuous men create promiscuous women.

Many people saying negative things about women here have sisters that have done worse and daughters that will do worse soon.

Our oppressive male dominated society leads to this type of behavior. Your present or future wives have also done similar if not worse.
Business / Re: Stanbic IBTC Partners Lagos State On Lekki-epe International Airport Project by iDo3: 9:02am On Jan 25, 2012
I guess like most things in Nigeria the so called Government at all levels do not maintain infrastructure - just build another airport.
So everyone in government can use this chance to steal money. Then they go to church on Sunday and dance and pray to God.

By the time they steal 90% of the money we will see the shambles built. Then they award many more contracts. Only in Nigeria - they spend 10 times more and get 10 times less.

Some day the masses will rise up and it will not be nice.

As usual very vague ;-)

Perhaps next time he and and similar "church pastors" oh sorry GO's can predict something simple like heads or tails on a coin flip. Perhaps even the winner of a soccer match. Amazing that people that claim to be educated subscribe to these modern day scams under the cover of religion. Oh well I guess with the state of affairs in some corners we grasp at straws. Pity.
Politics / Re: Stop Moaning... Petrol Is 326.21 Naira a litre in the UK! by iDo3: 4:11pm On Jan 02, 2012
@OP
Only a fool would compare the UK situation to Nigeria.

People please note not all Nigerians in diaspora are out of touch with reality - we come home and have family at home. This fuel subsidy issue will also reach our pocket book.

Even if economically needed in the long run, the price could have been raised by 5 or 10 naira per month allowing a year or two for the economy to grow and people to adjust to the rise.

I wonder why this country is cursed with bad leadership for the past 40 years - each administration getting worse??

Crime / Re: Police Parade Fake Pastor In Nsukka by iDo3: 9:00am On Dec 31, 2011
Most so called pastors are fake especially Pentecostal churches. Just a money making venture with lots of gullible people. The pastors living high life on the money of millions of the masses like the politicians are doing. The profit from millions of 20 Naira deposits many times is astronomical. Marginal increments of small denominations. Sad that ignorant people continue to get exploited all over the world, even more so here in Nigeria.

Outstrip - you may not know this but the school you attend does not indicate your intelligence rather what you CHOOSE to learn and retain.

Most schools have access to the same body of knowledge printed in books and available on the internet.
Romance / Re: Can A Married Woman Have A Male Best Friend? by iDo3: 7:09pm On Dec 25, 2011
ronkebp - said it well:

There is no need flogging this issue, more than necessary, there is nothing like a male best friend for the wife and a female best friend for the hubby, outside marraige. No need beautifying what will never be. No man would accept that and am very sure no woman would be comfortable with her hubby having a female best friend outside, only if she wants to pretend.

The wife and the husband can have friends and acquaintances of the opposite sex - but discretion and respect for your spouse will lay the groundwork for a long and happy marriage. A best friend of the opposite sex is ridiculous and uncalled for. Obviously there will be be limited interactions with ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, or even just past non-romantic friends of the opposite sex.

I have first hand knowledge of men and women getting a divorce from a brief fling with an ex. People lose something that could have lasted a lifetime for a moment of temporary insanity.

All you so called liberated and modern men and women that want to treat marriage as 'boyfriend/girlfriend' relationship are living in a fools paradise. I guess you can go from one failing relationship to another or better yet just remain single and keep playing the field. Once I detect this self serving opinion in a woman, I realize she is not for me.
Politics / Re: Have You Ever Given Or Accepted Bribe? by iDo3: 6:57am On Dec 21, 2011
Theory and Practice sometimes are far apart. Easy to talk of NOT paying bribes when u live in Europe or USA. But in Naija unfortunately the system has been corrupted from the TOP down. Since the so called leaders President first for the past 35 plus years have enriched themselves and left nothing for the nation the small people have no choice often but to pay up.

Really sad what has become of this nation sad

God will punish all the politicians, government officials, etc. that have contributed to degrading the nation. Their children and heirs will not enjoy the ill gotten wealth!

Religion / Re: Rccg Holy Ghost Congress 2011 Tagged "A New Thing" by iDo3: 5:45am On Dec 14, 2011
Some of the people that attend those churches do not want to think critically or seek practical solutions to their problems.  In some cases perhaps there are no practical solutions to their problems that they can see.

Their hopelessness is being exploited by so called GO worship by various churches and religions all over the world.  The business model for Pentecostal xtian churches (I call them money making superstitious churches) was taken from the American mega-churches.  It worked well for the business churches in the US hence it was replicated to the max in Nigeria as the economy tanked in the 90's.

Once the economy improves people will depart these churches in droves.  They are based solely on feelings and emotions rather than the true teaching in the scriptures.  If you notice most of them create fear in their members by borrowing from the local superstitions to further enslave their members.  Creating fictional problems in the mind of the masses that they will in turn solve with prayers.  The churches such as these are the real 419!
Religion / Re: Rccg Holy Ghost Congress 2011 Tagged "A New Thing" by iDo3: 3:39am On Dec 14, 2011
Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria - Opium for the masses cheesy

At least the "Pastors" and their highly placed insiders are getting rich while the poor get poorer.

While some countries invent solutions - Computers, Blackberries, Electricity, Good Roads, etc we pray for "power to change hands"

When some of the members of these churches go home - they steal, fornicate and have affairs with married men and women.

One big joke, so called religion.

Claremont - well said!

Those that desire it can marry - it should be a free world to do as you will - just don't disturb others.

All people are needed, poor, rich, married, single the world would probably not exist without variety.

Those that have no children will take care of the excess children from the poor ;-) It balances life.

I will take care of my relatives children if I have none. Such is life.
