OfoIgbo:Lagos bring to the Nigeria purse far more than any SE state ever brought so it deserves the allocation it is getting from the center. In fact it deserves more than that. Like I said, I always value facts and statistics more, I’ll look for it later when I’m free about what allocation that was given to the states known as Igbo states then compared to the SW to infer my own judgement. Forget about the Fulani for once, the president of Nigeria has the power to control the gas in any region in as much as Nigeria remain one. There is only two things the Igbo can do, either play the politics and enter the center to control things or continue to clamor for Biafra and hope one day it will come to fruition. In as much as you remain part of Nigeria, there is little ESN could do to overpower the FG. If Buhari want to control the resources in the East, he will and nothing will happen. They will first use the carrot approach and grant amnesty to dissenting militia forces, if that fails they will buy the politicians, if that fails they will send the military guys to quell the uprising. Lastly, don’t get me wrong, I have said times without numbers that the Igbos have the right to take derivatives from the gas because it’s on their land BUT in as much as Nigeria is one, the gas will be controlled by the FG. |
OfoIgbo:What is the population of the SE states and landmass area? I mean the SE inhabitant population and not the Igbos as an ethnic group. You shouldn’t forget there are vast numbers of Igbos with sanctuary in most of those other states feeding on the allocation and sometimes employed into the civil services of those states. I am not sure there has been anytime the Yorubas are getting double the allocation of the SE. if there is any evidence pointing to that please let me know and I can learn too. As per the gas sector, Igbos can always do what they want by asking for some derivatives. It is their right so I don’t think that should be up for argument. |
This one loud o! |
OfoIgbo:I don’t subscribe that the Federal government neglected the SE in sharing oil boom. Last I checked, the SE states still receive FAAC from the same oil proceeds and I don’t understand what you mean by neglected. Also I think two states in the SE are part of those receive the 13% derivation so that’s also fair enough. Yes, ESN can always vent their anger about that if igbos don’t get lion share from the gas and they will be justified just as the ND militant were justified in their clamor. |
Ikpongiton:Now you are taking to correction. Remember I told you that you’ll do well with a comedy career. I like your jokes here, although the joke is still dry. |
OfoIgbo:One Nigeria my brother! The gas is for us all! ![]() |
Ikpongiton:Why should I mark your word? Do you even know Buhari had over 30% votes in the SS in 2019? Even in 2015 against Jonathan he still got some votes in the SS so for you to say Tinubu will have no single vote in 2023 in the SS shows you can excel well in comedy rather than writing words online. |
QuotasSystem:100% valid. |
Burruchaga71:Be careful what you say so you won’t waste your life for nothing! |
Sirjamo:What do you expect from the unprofessional media? All they do is to twist the headline to make it catchy because they know most Nigerians don’t read post content. You can see from all the comments that people don’t even know what he said in the content, they just started posting rubbish like they always do. |
Asiwaju advancing the game. |
Gandollaar:No, the reason why we are here is not only that. —The divide started during the Jonathan/Buhari transition where CAN led a crusade of political statement of Islamization and other stuffs. —To add salt to injury, Buhari body language actually seems like he favors Muslims more than Christians and that gave some credence to CAN stamements which led to increased religious divide and animosity. —Anothee wahala is the herdsmen, Boko Haram and atrocities which also tend to make Christian be like rhey need to defend their faith against Islamization and that is what led us to the current scenario where moderate Christians that see nothing wrong in Hijabs before started fearing because they thought asking for Hijab suddenly means Islamization down south. — I don’t like speaking for situation outside the Yoruba enclave and like tailoring my religious talks to the West. The reason is because outside Yorubaland, the dynamics of religious tolerance, compassion, extremism start to change and it will be like beating a dead horse by trying to engage in the context. My joy now is that even with an almost 50/50 religious demographics in Yorubaland, we are still keeping religious bigotry in check. Although we have our share of extremist in both Muslim and Christian faith, but they are in the minority and their voice are not yet strong enough to shape things. |
freeborn02:Lol. What time do your school close? Is it 2pm or you’re counting lessons as part of school hours? I just told you I attended Ibadan Grammar School. I sing from the SOP daily, we sometimes go to the chapel to just sing or do official functions so I know everything about the said topic. There is no mosque in that school as big as it is. Likewise most of the schools I know with Christianic background. St’lukes is also not far from that school in Molete and there is also no mosque inside. So that makes you a lying braggarts who just come on Nairaland to sow hatred and misinformation. So Christians now pray and fellowship every Friday too? Is that a universal thing or just your own school where you teach? Because at least in the school I went to none of such happened. |
freeborn02:What time do Muslim prayer start on a weekday and what time do school close daily? That will show you who is dumber. Secondly I attended Ibadan Grammar School, it used to be an Anglican school and we have chapel in our school BUT you will never see mosque in the school. Never! The only mosque we have is the MSSN mosque located outside the school when you pass small gate. Outside the school!!! So that shows you are a liar who use the fallacy of hasty generalization to push your agenda. Do all Christian schools have mosque in them?? Do Christians always have fellowship in normal schools daily on normal school hours besides the assembly ground? Do Christians students pick themselves and say let’s leave class by 11am and go and have fellowship and come back to class by 12pm even in normal secular schools? So why equating apple with oranges? You are actually more clueless than I thought honestly. How do Muslims pray during school hours when the average praying time of Muslims is below: 6:00am 2:00pm 4:00pm 7:00pm 8:00pm Which of those time fall within school hours? Except if Naija schools now end their official school after 2pm. You can enlighten me coz I left some while ago now. |
freeborn02:Well people reading this thread can vote on who is more dumber between us based on the arguments we both laid out here. I actually laid my point and addressed your mumbo jumbo even tho I should have left that to your fellow yaba left brethren to attend to. What we are able to establish on this thread is that you’re a useless liar that conjure false statement to back his argument. —Your main thesis was that “Christians were denied their right to worship”. I asked you how? You said fellowship. —Firstly, there is no where in Christian schools that they allow Muslims to do Muslim song or prayer on assembly ground. If you see one tell me! —Secondly, during school hours I don’t think student have the luxury of holding congregations where they come together to sing or fellowship in a school while their mates are in classes. —Thirdly, you may want to hide under Jumat as a case of Muslim having chance. But I told you Jumat are usually 1:30-2pm and schools already closed by 1pm on Friday. —Sunday is the recognizable day for Christians churches and fellowship and schools don’t open then, so I don’t know where you get your jargons you keep parroting from. Lastly, I might be wrong in misinterpreting what you mean by fellowship. So I humbly ask you one last time to tell me the context of the word “Fellowship” you keep parroting like damaged robot. |
freeborn02:The topic we are discussing doesn’t make any sense again because your vituperation made it so boring and corrosive. Friday is the only day Muslims meet up for prayers and you will never see a Muslim student holding congregation during school hours on normal days. That’s why schools close 1pm on Friday. Sunday is also the official day for Christianic gathering for prayers and it will be absurd for anyone to think students will leave their normal classroom hours to converge for fellowship in school. That brings us to your integrity and sanity. I asked you to explain what you mean by fellowship coz it could relate to a lot of things but you rather continue to parrot nonsense while waiting for me to engage you like an intelligent homo sapien. Sorry Bruv, I’m just catching cruises right now coz I’ve seen you are an epitome of emptiness. |
freeborn02:At least you’re taking to correction. Now you used a new abuse line. But door bell are actually not dumb, they notify the owner of someone at the door and give them time to respond to external influence. That abuse no enter. Find another one! |
joefelin2345:God bless you too. I think you’re also right about your assertions. I watched CAN deputy chairman in Kwara state statement on AlaroyeTV Facebook page and he said Hijab is not actually the main matter and he’s just fighting for equity and if possible government returning those schools to the church. I think he even spoke about the courtroom where the issue was suddenly changed to Hijab. I support them giving the school back to the church if that will solve the tension. However that will affect both Christian and Muslim student with poor parents. If the church take back the school and the government withdraw their funding, then the students need to start paying school fees as seen in Ogun state one and that might make the poor Christians that can’t afford the schools to lose quality education. But that’s by the way shar, probably the Church can find a better model but the governor should return the school back to them and build another school closer to the area to accommodate the students that will exit the mission schools coz of this policy. |
freeborn02:See me see wahala o. At least it you want to abuse, try to be original. You keep throwing the same quack line. Are Muslim students allowed to have fellowship on the assembly ground of Christian schools?? If the fellowship you mean is like a Sunday fellowship where Christian worship, then you are more dafter than me because schools don’t open on Sunday so that erase a thought of fellowship. Now if you’ll abuse me in the next post, try to bring a new line and be original. I’m from Ibadan, abusing people to us is natural and I’m an A grader in abusing people. But I’m not in the mood today and I won’t report you to the mod either. |
freeborn02:Do Christians have fellowship on weekdays? I thought church is Sunday or what exactly are you talking about? School is always on Monday to Friday. By the way, what do you mean by allowed to pray? Can you explain that to be better. Do you mean pray Christian way on the assembly ground in a Muslim school OR you mean allowing Christian students to pray to Jesus in their classes themselves. I will let the insult slide. At least sane people will know who among us both look civil enough in this discourse. |
freeborn02:Oga tell me how they stopped the Christian from practicing their faith. Before you lie, just know that you are conversing with an informed human being so choose your words wisely. I want you to tell us here on Nairaland how Christians were forced from practicing their religion in Muslim government schools. Thanks in advance! |
freeborn02:How are they stopped from practicing their religion? |
The article is superb and sensible enough. —Hijab is a fundamental right of a Muslim girl who choose to wear it and it will be demeaning that at this age, we are denying them the right to expression of their religion. —Currently, those missionary schools are public schools financed by the government and this gives every religion the right to enrol in it because their taxes are used to finance the school. —Thirdly, to be fair to the Christians, those schools were their creation before the government took over. They also have the right to say they don’t want hijabs in those schools to maintain tradition BUT the Muslim girl also have the right to wear her hijab devoid of discrimination in a school of learning. —Hence, to stop this back and forth, the government should return the Christian schools back to their owners where they can have the luxury of administering it as an almost private entity where their tradition can be enforced. Any Muslim that chose to go to the school then must conform 100% to the Christanic tradition and any Muslim parent that chose to foment trouble should be arrested. —Lastly, the government can build more schools in the area affected to accommodate the vast number of students that will be out of school or try to accommodate them in schools closer to the affected area in the interim before they complete that. Personally, it hurts that we can be bickering over these things we ought to have gotten over at this age and time. |
Kebbiprince:We will vote Tinubu in the East! |
Anyiamaka:So who will be the president in 2023? Kalu, Umahi, Peter Obi, or Okorocha? |
Bury what? Sir Ohaneze, Tinubu will rather step down for me than to bury his ambition for you guys. Although I heard you’re not the real Ohaneze so I’ll assume the real Ohaneze do not share this ridiculous sentiment. |
Uchek:Maybe if Ojukwu had not tried to invade Lagos, probably we would have been neutral. Before you say Lagos if the capital, you should know that Yorubas are the ones majorly living right from Ore, down to the ocean in Lagos. So invading Ore or Lagos is a direct attack on the Yorubas and we won’t just be silent while the West is the battlefield. It is what it is. Awo fought in his capacity for his country, while Ojukwu did the same in his own capacity. Both men have done their part, this present generation can forge our own path too. |
MansoryMX:Only that we haven’t seen the names of those fallen hero at Lekki massacre. If their friend and families had came forward to notify of their lost ones, their name would have been pasted in our heart. |
fergie001:Well you have a point. It is just what it is. Social media and paid influencers hiding under the banner of each tribe to front their propaganda for their respective candidates. However I think this is not only limited to Nairaland, it can be seen on all social media platforms. Nairaland is just more pronounced because it gives people the advantage of anonymity. Either way your points are valid. Enjoy the rest of your day bro. |
fergie001:The stressing is on the SE because they are the one that took this issue of PDP and Jonathan defeat too serious that they tend to become the scapegoat when trying to throw banters. Even the Ijaws who lost their son chance are not this vocal about PDP like the Igbo. For far too long, the Igbo have played the poster boy for PDP while the big boys controlling the party who are obviously not Igbos are scheming underground while using the Igbos as the mouthpiece to take the fall. Like you said, the author of this post might not be the true Ohaneze voice but I’m pretty sure he re-echoes their sentiments which is the same sentiments most Igbos push. And yes, the SS produce more votes for the PDP than the SE like you rightly said. |
fergie001:Alright got you. But I can tell you Atiku will NEVER get any overwhelming vote against a Tinubu or Osinbajo in the SW. Also, Atiku got that vote in the West in the first place because of Buhari performance which most people are tired of. However do you know same cannot be said of the SE’ners? In as much as a PDP man (whether Fulani or Kanuri) is on the ballot, the SE’ners will vote him overwhelmingly over any other Igbo candidate. They did it against Ojukwu so no need to deny it. Ohaneze here might have their own point but it’s directed at the wrong audience. They should rather threaten the PDP to give them the slot and not necessarily threaten Nigeria or some supposedly people marginalizing them. |
