Sincerely, I sometimes don’t bother reading the comments on nairaland cos they are full of shit. All they know is insults and support politicians blindly. I mainly read to get latest happenings in Nigeria, I depend on nairaland and Linda for local news, not as if I have other choices though.

I was following the town hall meeting of the democratic candidate of Texas who is going against Ted Cruz. He was asked what is there for him to do since Texas has the lowest unemployment rate in America, his response was something else.
He didn't insult the senator but said he planned to raise the standard of living than it is now. He said so many things that made me wonder why we don't have brilliant politicians in Nigeria, but then I had to conclude that most of these politicians employ the same masses to fight against themselves.

I personally live in Texas and I can tell you the governor is doing very well, yet people are not relaxed, they are holding the politicians accountable. They are tackling one of the aspiring senator now just because he questioned the rational behind building the Mexico wall. Just recently, the surface of a 12 miles highway was re-layed, it took roughly three weeks to complete the eight lanes, no disruption of traffic. You just drive in the morning and see they have completed a portion and when they finished nobody came to cut a red ribbon cos it’s a no brainer. Africa you build such road and the president will leave behind national issues to go commission a road.

Exactly, power belongs to the people not the politicians. Here in the US we are preparing for mid term elections, you need to see real campaigning. Politicians focus their campaigns on real issues, you either hear them talk about tax administration, affordable health, etc. These are issues affecting the common American and these are what they will be measured with at the next elections, how well they delivered on their promises on these. Nobody campaigns on providing boreholes or good roads cos those are necessities. Nigeria will get there sha.

The Only time u will know that there are workers in Ministries in the North is bre 26th-31st of any month! That's During Salary time!

Apart from that period it's Holiday thru the Month

The same thing in Katsina state where I served in 1998. Workers come to work only on pay day and the entire salary will be brought in cash and distributed and if for some reason(s) you don’t come to work on that day, your salary is story (as a corper I missed one pay day and it took them like 5month to pay me that month’s salary). The entire compound will be filled with people owed by the civil servants, as you collect your salary you pay your debt and wait till next pay day.

What do you expect from a country where all security agencies have been turned to political tools in the hands of the politicians?

I once worked for an abusive businessman (one man business) and had to resign the day he insulted me in the presence of his friend. I resigned without a plan B but was lucky to be called up by MTN to take up a job (more than 5 times the pay of the job I left). I still count myself very lucky and never stopped thanking God, sometimes we need to be drastic in making certain decisions but in all, put God first and He alone will perfect whatever situation you find yourself.

All that glitters is not gold, stay focused and don’t be deceived by social media wealth, all shows. The same artist had it on social media a while back that he bought a private jet only to end up being false. It’s good to appreciate wealth but people should not be carried away by what they see. The secret to happiness is to be hardworking and contented with the much you have, money does not bring happiness. No insults, these are just my personal views.
