You need comms for foreign missions not internal skirmish that you can easily identify your enemies.
I would be surprised if your coming convoys went on foreign mission without basic stuffs like military Comms.

Then talk of Mali mission, France no ever wanted to have the Nigerian military involved in Mali, reason they massively supported the chadians.
But again we proved our strength in Gambia, with our fighter jets in the sky, naval vessels on water and SF units on ground. It was a successful mission.

Kenya army is well funded, well motivated, well trained, very disciplined, proffesional and modern army. An army that is regularly called to provide peace keeping mission in Europe and Asia. KDF train regularly with British Army.

The army is not having a million soldiers paid in peanuts with rusted equipments. That is MILITIA like Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Kenya has 25,000 troops with twice Ethiopia defence budget - about same with Nigeria - with 360,000 troops. Think about that. You see how 10,000 troops of Ethiopia Def force are being arrested daily. They have very old rickety guns and are walking or hitching lift in old lorries.

Africa need modern lean force like KDF. Find me another Africa force with such impressive peace keeping mission profile - that tell KDF is a world class disciplined force.

Even without adding extra budget allocation and all other billions added yearly we still spend double of what you spend.

Playing puppet status to UN peace keeping missions doesn't make your military good.

Nigeria went to Gambia recently not under any UN mission, yet with fighter jets patrol the sky's of Gambia and naval ships docked at their sea port waiting for directives from Nigeria. The president has to step down or face bombardment from all fronts.
