I'm more in line with @mekaprime post of Box office analysis on Birds of Prey. It needs about $250-300mn to break even. And about $350mn North wards to turn profit.

It doesn't need a huge haul as $600-650mn. It's marketing and distribution and all that can't surpass $100mn(cos marketing costs etc hardly surpass production budget). A movie needs about 3x it's original production budget to break even and then make profit. So if you plus $100mn with $84mn(production budget) you get = $184mn which includes Marketing+distribution costs, and then multiply by 2. That's $368mn needed for it to be a profit.

If Shazam was deemed a box office success with a production budget of $90mn and worldwide gross of $364mn; then how is Birds of Prey with $84mn needs a $600-650mn haul?


Cos of the way Superhero movies tend to open with huge debut numbers people tend to misunderstand box office statistics ain't always black and white. What's applicable to A can't be for B. People are too used to $100mn opening weekend.

Indies do not get as funded as they used to because the studios nowadays care more about setting up franchises and universes.There was a really nice indie a couple of years ago called Ex Machina.You may like it.Go to Google search box and type 'The Tudors S2 mkv index'.Thats how I used to do it

I'm sure the producers didn't project this kind of success, it was just an experimental film then the Venice film festival thing happened, out of the need to virtue signal and seem offended for ridiculous reasons the sjws and woke media outlets started to pan the film; this enraged a lot of people which in turn gave the movie a more notorious popularity. A lot of negative things were said about the movie to stop it's success but it all proved futile because these spurred people the more to support it.

Same thing happened with the Dave Chappelle sticks and stones comedy, critics panned it for no reasonable reason other than it contained non politically correct jokes, fans in turn massively opposed and sang it's praises to heavens.

I get you and these are direct causes which I completely agree with. However, I'm simply arguing the point of toxic masculinity being the root cause of all these things. There's no denying your points, but if we want to address them, we need to solve the root cause.

Men have always used money to attract women but Nigerian men overdo it.
