Fashion › Re: Would You Ever Go Back To Natural Hair? by iice(f): 1:54pm On Feb 16, 2010
Tatase:
I'm not natural although I transitioned for a year about 2-3 years ago (but didn't go through with the BC) because I felt pressured by a lot of natural hair nazis around.

Maybe for some its a political statement, but for me, it's just hair. I have oyinbo friends who wake up two hours early to curl their hair because they think its too straight and flat, some have even gotten curly perms for body and others who also wake up early to flat iron their hair. It doesn't matter because it's an accessory, so personal preference is the main thing.

I know a lot of people who attach a lot of meaning to what's going on on peoples' heads but really, it's pointless. Are people who dye their hair funky colors like blue and purple and green, trying to be aliens? Are people who get mohawks trying to look reptilian? Are people who get braids trying to be rasta? Are girls who shave their heads or wear low cut styles trying to be like boys and denying their femininity?

To me, we attach so much meaning to hair and stigmatize others and make them feel like they're not "enough" in some way just because they choose to wear their hair differently, when ultimately it doesn't matter. Everyone should wear their hair the way they feel suits them or the way they're happy with. Whether that's in a curly afro puff or a relaxed and set style, it shouldn't matter.

Some of these debates on natural hair vs. relaxed hair are pointless and are just ways, we as black women try to further divide ourselves and we need to stop.
Thank you jare.

I just read a movie on Vlad the Impaler will be made cheesy
Where is the heart-beating emoticon when you need it?

Though i'm not sold on the writer of the script

Scott Kosar has been brought on to work on the screenplay for Summit Entertainment's Vlad, reports Variety.

The action film centers on Dracula as a young prince; he is known as Vlad the Impaler, the man behind the Dracula myth.

Charlie Hunnam ("Sons of Anarchy"wink wrote the original script. Anthony Mandler will direct for Plan B producers Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner.

Kosar's writing credits include 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Machinist, 2005's The Amityville Horror and the upcoming horror remake The Crazies.
Have to keep modifying as i keep reading new stuff grin
From Laeta Kalogridis ~ she wrote the script of Scorsese's shutter island

I've got "Ghost in the Shell," which is an adaptation of another manga and anime with DreamWorks and Steven's producing that and I'm hoping that the draft will come in pretty soon and I'm hoping he'll like it. DreamWorks had the material and I have loved it for years and years and years. They contacted me about it when they found out that I was interested. I mean, there's just no other property quite like it. It could actually be three two-hour movies, which is what I would vote for, but it's the seminal cyberpunk text as something like "Neuromancer." I mean, it really just is, and there's nothing else like it.
Hmmm i'm not like a super fan of ghost in a shell. We'll see how that one turns out undecided

I don't mind another sin city, if Rourke's character will be there. grin

Speaking of directors. . .Quentin wants to make a western. . .in slavery times. Is this man not adorably crazy? grin

The NY Daily News caught up with Quentin Tarantino, who says he's interested in making a Western, but one that is a little different.

"I'd like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with," Tarantino said. "Let's shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it 'A Southern.'"
grin grin well hell bells. . .that sure gonna shake up the people grin
