This weekend a white friend I've known for 15+ years, said "Niggers" when talking to another black friend in our group chat.
The group chat is a diverse multi-racial one of about 15 men and women.
We're all tight, we do international trips together(was planning a Naija trip later this year), show up for each other in life's moments (was at the guys dad's funeral a month ago).
This guy is successful, smart and is currently dating a black woman.
So, it made it even more shocking hearing it from his mouth.

What was not surprising that he said it?
The guy has been increasingly supporting Trump. He says he didn't vote for him (not sure I believe him), but has increasingly been making irrational arguments for someone I know is very smart rationalizing the nonsense Trump's been doing.
I saw the change in him late last year. He says he's been watching Fox News now.
And surprise, he called, I assume, the black people in the group chat "Niggers" because someone was getting at him to admit that Zelensky meeting was crazy and a clustefuck. I guess using "Niggers" to him was more acceptable than criticizing Trump.

This episode has underpinned for me the underlying racism in MAGA and in this country.
And that Trump and MAGA have normalized that racism.
I'm still in shock.

Years back I sued my car dealership in small claims court. I took it in for a repair after an accident and they put in the wrong sized axle (two different axles based on version of the model. Mine was the sports edition, wider base). The wheel fell off on the highway. I wanted them to repair it and pay for damages. The repair even had a warranty. They refused and made up some lie that I caused it. I was pissed as it could have been a bigger accident and so wanted to make a point.

Anyhow, while I was in court waiting for my case to be called. I sat and heard cases for credit card defaults. It was somewhat surprising that it was basically a default judgement mill.
The credit card companies would file cases will little evidence, there would be random attorneys in court who would stand in as attorneys for these cases if there was no attorney on the case.
So, if the defendant didn't show up, that attorney would get a default judgement (win). But ever so rarely a defendant would take time off of work and show up and of course the attorney who stood in would have no evidence to prove the case. Instead of the Judge ruling in favor of the defendant, the Judge would grant the credit card company a continuance. Lol. So the credit card company could have a second opportunity to get a default if the person couldn't take another day off of work or actually bring in some evidence. Now imagine if it wasn't your debt.
The system was weighted toward the big companies. The CFPB made it easier for consumers to fight back when stuff like this happened.

And I won my case.

Trump actually may reduce food prices and inflation.
But that's only because he crashed the Economy,
