Please does Uber still operate in Benin? |
tillaman:There was a time we went for an interview after being shortlisted and one of the interviewer asked me my country and why it wasn’t written on my cv. I smiled and asked her if I would have been shortlisted or invited if they knew I was Nigerian? She replied maybe I didn’t get the job but you understand my point. These employers have a software they use to sieve through thousands of Resumes to weed out what they don’t want. It’s always better to have an opportunity to show yourself and impress than to be weeded out because of your country or birth. There are reputable agencies that do offer legit jobs though subject to the payment of some fees. Jobs like Security, sales, factory workers, receptionist and some other menial jobs. The pay isn’t really much but some people don’t mind. To them it’s better than nothing |
Jefferyhi86:I just laughed while reading the epistle. Na who no know no know oo |
In as much as I have nothing against the write up and that the poser is right to an extent, I make bold to say that there exist serious discrimination against Nigerians. Those Scam Recruitment agencies have existed for a long time and unless you’re new to Dubai, you can’t fall for their tricks and gimmicks. They use different company names and locations as well as giving you assurances of non existent jobs. That’s a story for another day. The truth is our image has been laundered in that country that no reputable firm wants to employ Nigerians. Even the banks he talked of, how many Nigerians are working in those banks? The few ones that were employed are paid far less than their contemporaries in the bank on the same level. It took a friend 3 months of rigorous and painstaking security clearance before he could resume work in January after having been employed in October last year. To imagine he was highly recommended by a professor in one of the universities after working for over 8 years in one of the nigerian banks. It’s the same reason why Nigerians can’t open simple bank account in UAE because we are a high risk country. Even some Landlords are wary of given their apartment to Nigerians because of the deeds of ‘Our heroes past’ who have left a sweet legacy for us The fact some people are lucky to have good and reasonable employers or work in an unbiased environment doesn’t erode the discrimination prevalent in Dubai especially to Nigerians be it open or discreet. Dubai has always had laws but has it stopped prostitution which is notorious in the city, bribe accepted by the police, indiscriminate practices of firms and business owners? Or you think they don’t know all these? People should look for jobs elsewhere and free dubai for now, it’s really not worth the stress unless you have a job waiting for you |

heartofcity12:In the past one year how many shows have you seen wizkid or Davido perform in Nigeria? These artist have gone international and it’s a choice. It’s Business and you need to see it as just that |
aro1:Wizkid should shuffle his concert? Didn’t the Headies know about his concert that the date has been fixed over 3 months ago before choosing their own date? You know how much for O2 arena wey u want am to shuffle am coz of Headies?lol |
Nobody forced anyone to stay up and watch the award. If it’s boring please change the channel or sleep. Nobody expects the Headies to be perfect but comparing it with the Grammies or MTV is a joke. I personally have my grouse with them especially as it relates to the date. What will they have lost if they had shifted this award to a different date especially as it clashed with Wizkid’s festival at the O2? What’s an Award if the Awardees ain’t present to collect their awards? Back then Artist fight to even be nominated and such Nominations is always a talking point. I think the Headies needs a stiffer competition to bring their A game. Sound city Awards and even Afrimaa are no better anyways |

The Brazilian superstar expressed delight after they were handed a group bereft of an African side, most importantly the Super Eagles. Neymar has revealed that he his ‘happy’ Brazil avoided all five African teams, especially Nigeria in the Russia 2018 World Cup group stages. The Selecao will slug it out with Serbia, Costa Rica and Switzerland in Group E of the global showpiece as they aim to erase memories of their 2014 outing that ended awfully. And the PSG star who admitted they got tough oppositions, believes ‘African teams like Nigeria’ would have been an absolute nightmare. The fleet-footed Neymar noted the physical and energy-sapping approach of a typical African side as his main reason. “We [Brazil] have to be at our best to get a good result particularly in our first game of the tournament. The teams in our group are difficult to play against,” Neymar told media. “I am happy it wasn’t a group where we had to play against African teams like Nigeria. They run a lot and are very physical in their approach. We are no doubt still up against strong sides at the World Cup.” However, the Super Eagles were handed the Selecao's eternal rivals, Argentina for the fifth time in the finals while Croatia and debutant Iceland complete the Group D setup. Gernot Rohr’s start their World Cup campaign against the Fiery Ones in Kaliningrad on June 16. http://m.goal.com/j/en-gb/news/3526/world-cup-2018/2017/12/05/40780122/brazils-neymar-happy-to-avoid-nigeria-at-world-cup
