any idea of the process for obtaining this international drivers license?? You will not be allowed to drive in the UK with your Nigerian Driver's License at all. Hence the need for the International Driver's License. The International Driver's License allows you to drive in the UK for one year but at a higher Insurance rate(e.g if normal rate is 40 pounds, you will pay around 100 pounds). You will need 2 passport photograph, your personal details, name of country where its to be used and 17k Naira. It may not cost that much in Lagos as I was given this information at the Licensing office of where I am domiciled and was informed that it will be sent to Lagos. And will be ready for collection in 1 week. |

Clarine: I have answered this question. He requested for his sister number and he gave him the phone to show him. On this issue let's be very clear. The uk border officer is authorised by law since year 2000 to have access to your phone and other devices. You may want to Google it. So whether they brought out the phone or not, it can be requested for and they can download the content and store if they deem it necessary. Its not only in the UK but also Canada and USA. I don't know about others. |

Can anybody enlighten me on dis plz I know a couple who are currently in the UK, that the lady went in for a top-up Nursing degree in 2016, came back home in Sept2017 for 10 days after enrolling for her Masters, for her wedding. Husband joined her in November 2017. AS she completed her MSc , husband enrolled for his MSc. Because the wife has been struggling with her Nursing registration and he could'nt get a sponsored job, he has now enrolled for a doctoral degree( mind you, they don't need to show funds, since they have lived continuously in the UK for 12 Month). |

opiumpuppy: Hi guys, please I have a question that needs urgent answers.
How possible is it to get a UK student visa if my application includes my 4yrs old son? I am a single parent who is never married to his mother and I basically have been his sole guardian since he was 7months old.
Or should I go first and work for him to join later?
Kindly assist. I would advice that you go alone for now. Child care in the UK is quite expensive and their rules are different from ours. Here you can get a neighbour to help you keep an eye on your child while you go to the market, that's almost impossible over there. And you can't leave your child alone at home not even for 30 minutes! A 4 year old will most likely only be allowed 9am-12noon 0r 12noon-3pm in school, except if their rules have changed which I doubt. For those going as a couple, its only slightly better because your partner can work night shift, not a 9am - 5pm job. As someone has to be available to take and pick the young kids at 9am and pick at 3pm. |

Esitelo: Dear Nairaland, Please I've asked this question thrice, no responses yet..can I travel via Turkish airline alone on a spouse dependant visa to UK. There is no way to reach the airline and wakanow agents are giving conflicting info. One said you have to travel together with main applicant, another said you can travel alone. Please, has any dependant here travelled alone recently via Turkish airline to the UK? Main applicant (my husband) has travelled ahead Yes you can travel on any airline, including Turkish without your spouse as long as you have a valid visa for your final destination. The only case when you are not allowed is if it is stated categorically that "only when accompanied by passport number-----" and this is only written in underaged children's passport. |

Aikayval: Thank you very much. You sound like you are in uk already. I’ll try and get the police certificate then. But I’ll still like to know how it can be gotten online. No am here in Nigeria but have information because my daughter just completed her GMC registration. My son was able to get the Police clearance online thru a contact we got on the Canada FSW thread last year, one Inspector Moshood-08034747802. You can search for it also using the search on top of this page. |

Aikayval: I’m also really interested in the outcome of this as I fall into this category. And I hope to do some other job pending when I’m done with the certification exams. Yes, you can do other unskilled jobs before passing your PLAB 1 and 2. If you do not want to work in a care home you can do a 2 day Phlebotomy Certification course( costs about 250 Pounds) and try to get an NHS job, as that will give you an added edge when you get your full GMC registration. Don't forget to go along with your police clearance certificate, if possible. If not possible there are means to get it legally online. |

iiiyyyk: It's a big lie that u will test positive of covid 19 upto 9 weeks after symptoms.
So how then are people discharged from covid centres, if they still test positive?
I know few people that have tested positive of covid, both mild and severe cases. A person can test positive today and next tomorrow the person will test negative.
What covid centres do in my location is to discharge people once the have 2 consecutive Negatives. i e, if u test positive on Monday, then test Negative on Wednesday and another negative on Thursday, u are discharged. This is the experience of people I know personally that were treated at covid centres.
Go do your test, once your body has defeated covid, your result would come out negative.
It can take some 5 days to move from positive to negative. And another 14days, other 21 or more. It all depends on individuals immune system and treatment. Let's not just slam people off, at times our experiences and exposures are very different. I had covid last year and within 2 weeks of treatment my result came back negative but there's a very senior doctor in our State who had covid and for more than 6 weeks her result kept coming back positive! And we cannot say when it became negative because she decided to stop taking the test because she was physically ok within 2 weeks of her initial treatment and there was no explanation for why her test kept coming back positive! Let's just pray that theirs would come back negative next time. |

Domistic: Good evening all I have a question. My Wife will be flying with airmaroc on Monday 6am. Ordinarily she is supposed to be in the airport 3 or 4 hrs earlier that’s by 2 or 3am. That’s too early Do u advise that we go in the night arround 11pm and hang on there or look for a hotel in ikeja and rush there by 4am? Do you think that we can get a cab that early? By 4am and still meet with boarding ? Getting to the airport 2 hours to departure may be a bit late depending on the airline. Some close their check in desk as early as 2 hours before departure. Its better to be too early than missing your flight. Most hotels in Ikeja have Taxis to take you to the airport (at a fee). |

cretin: what rate do they use?..any restrictions?..what of charges, big? Its been a while that I used it but the rate is low, I mean just slightly higher than PTA rate. There's a limit of $1000 or equivalent per quarter. PS: Don't forget that you can also use your Naira Visa or Master cards on UK ATM machine or online as long as its not above $100( about 65 pounds) per month. If used online, when paying if given the option, pay in Pounds and not Naira even tho its a Naira card. |

JahMan1: It is good to say the truth always but the question on having a relation is confusing in the visa application. My brother and my sister are my relations but they were not listed on the application as qualifying for what they termed relations. Why should one then say yes when they're rather listing spouse, partner, grandparents, grandchildren, spouse/partner of your child, etc. Or am I the only one that saw that? Don't give unsolicited info, if its not there then don't bother. I have never filled the tier4 visa application but there is space to list siblings in the Visit visa application. |

Bourne007: Immigration officers do not have that authorisation to check one's mobile phone. The police however can only if arrested. This is not true. My daughter's phone was collected from her in May on her way in because she was detained for returning to the UK on a visit visa when she had just left in February( after a 4 months visit) and her return ticket indicated that she will be there till October. And she was asked to unlock and they went thru her conversations. You can watch boarder patrol of any developed nation on dstv and you will see several cases like that! |

justwise: Its unwise and ignorant to answer No to that question and yes its a lie to answer No.
Yes nobody will kill you but you are likely to be refused a visa or denied entry to the UK.
Lying in your visa application is the silliest to do because it will be saved and used against you. Please lets be very truthful. Everything is recorded, even at the point of entry. Some years back at the point of entry, I overheard one of the entry officers was grilling a Nigerian woman. He asked how long she would be staying and she said one month and the officer said thats what you said the last time and you stayed 5months! He got that I believe from the computer in front of him. I don't know how it ended but I learnt a lesson from that. Also if per chance you are put aside for extra scrutiny, your phone will be collected and checked and supposed you have lied that you don't have any relative there, your phone will expose you as a liar. But then there are relatives that you may have in the UK that you don't relate with, the answer is still yes I have relations here but I do not relate with him/her and he or she does not even know that am coming to the UK and I don't want him/ her to know. There's no law that says you must have a cordial relationship with all your relations! |

kayLion: When I filter "Lagos", there are no centers shown.
Why is this please? Because the greedy Lagos state government took over the test to make extra money. So you get redirected to the recognised Lagos centres after filling the form on that same platform. That is why outside Lagos, the test is 39,500 while in Lagos it's 52,000 or thereabout! |

HAminat: No. This isn't a system glitch. Its deliberate. If tried with a visa expiration date that exceeds 6 months. It's bringing the normal ihs fee. Your stay is likely to be less than 6 months so the assumption is that you are going for a visit and visit does not attract IHS surcharge. |

fificole: 1) Is wrapping of Luggage allowed in MMA Lagos and how much is it ? - Yes. Did not wrap so not sure.
2) Is Ghana must go ( the grey type) allowed? - Yes it is
3) Can one travel with electronics e.g TV set? - Yes. Must be checked in. However, why not buy from facebook market place/gumtree. (Except you are making a delivery). It counts as one luggage. Please double check the Ghana must go because several Airlines put out a notice 2 years ago that they would not check-in Ghana must go. Also someone asked about Kilishii the other time, Kilishi is meat and since the time of mad cow disease, the UK and other developed nations do not allow passengers to bring meat and dairy product(baby food is exempt). Processed Snails allowed though. |
