Politics › Re: FG Should Fix Our Refineries And Stop The Sharing Scams by Ikaeniyan0: 7:29am On Jul 21, 2023 |
TruthinAction: I am so shocked that a large percentage of Nigerians don't know how to make the right demand. What is this nonesense about sharing money as palliatives that will not take the poor out of poverty. Besides, there are countless millions the money will not get to.
So, if we have good revenue that far exceeds previous month's revenue, FG should use the money to fix our refineries.
When our refineries are fixed, the pump price of petrol should drop which will in turn bring down the inflation rate.
Other good alternatives are;
1. Build gas stations all over Nigeria and begin to convert petrol engine cars to be able to use gas to run. You spend far less when you run your cars on gas. For instance, if you spend 5,000 naira on petrol daily, gas will cost you just about 1,500 naira.
2. Invest the money on security. Set up CCTV camera on several places and on our highways.
3. Empower local vigilante to be able to curb the security challenges we are faced with.
4. Buy buses for transportation to run within towns and cities at low cost.
5. Build thousands of low cost housing so people will spend far less on rents.
6. Build more markets so that people can rent shops at low cost to trade.
7. Invest in agriculture. Build irrigation facilities so that farmers can farm for the 12 months of the year. Get involved in mechanized farming. Let the groundnut pyramid of the early 70s return back again.
8. Massive industrialization. Why can't we set up new industries to start producing many things that we import. For instance, can't we produce try circle aka Keke. It's annoying to hear that the price of that toy is getting close to 2 million naira. Why are our leaders so wicked. There are many other things we can start producing. Naira value is dropping daily because we are a consuming nation.
I can actually write a whole book on this.
Let's stop the scam of sharing money as palliatives and fix this country. Can all this things be done in less than 2 month? |

They will likely appeal but the funny thing is that even Otudeko is owing Ecobank billions of naira. Well, is good for Eco bank, they gave out billions of naira to otudeko and didn't ask him for any meaningful collateral. |

Business › Court Awards Honeywell ₦72.2 Billion Damages Against Ecobank by Ikaeniyan0(op): 9:48pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
A federal high court sitting in Lagos has awarded damages of N72.2 billion to Honeywell Flour Mills (HFMP) Plc in its eight-year legal battles with Ecobank Nigeria.
In a judgment delivered on Tuesday by Justice Mohammed Liman, the court granted all the reliefs sought by Honeywell over the freezing of its accounts by the bank in November 2015.
Ecobank had been granted an ex parte order to freeze Honeywell’s accounts in an attempt to wind up the company over its liabilities to the bank.
The ex parte order was granted with the condition that Ecobank would indemnify Honeywell’s over any losses.
The order was varied by the court of appeal in December 2015, but a dissatisfied Ecobank headed for the supreme court where it also lost.
Honeywell then approached the high court to claim N72.2 billion in damages against Ecobank for the losses it suffered while the freezing order was applied to its accounts.
The claims made by HFMP include losses due to foreign exchange devaluation, interest on unutilised cash balances, loss of revenue, and aggravated and exemplary damages.
In his judgment, Liman granted all reliefs sought by Honeywell.
“The plaintiff was denied the use of funds in his account based on the ex parte order granted in favour of the defendant. It is therefore my firm view that the plaintiff (Honeywell) is entitled to the amount claimed… The argument of the defendant in his written address is therefore not acceptable as the contents of the document are the best evidence and they speak for themselves,” he said.
He frowned upon Ecobanks’s lawyer’s approach, stating that “the purpose of an undertaking to pay damages has been held in a legion of cases to indemnify the party for the losses he may suffer on the bases of an ex parte order. Note that Rule 4 of the Winding Up Rules provides that all applications which affect the rights of parties in a winding-up proceeding must be made on notice.
“The provisions of the winding up rules are very clear and unambiguous. The defendant cannot claim ignorance of this provision as ignorance of the law is no excuse and it is even more inexcusable if it is committed by a lawyer. The ex parte application was therefore made ultra vires.” https://www.thecable.ng/just-in-court-awards-honeywell-n72-2-billion-damages-against-ecobank/amp

Kukutenla: You're sounding more stupid with each post. Who told you I'm from Anambra in the first place? I have challenged you to go through my posts and bring one where i ever praised any politician while it is something you do like your life depends on it.
It is this foolishness that led you to wailing after voting with your hands. May i ask where your brain was when you were voting? I can guess. In Tinubu's anus. Ordeh Save your useless sermon for your brothers in Anambra and Imo who have being voting for useless people like Obi and Okorocha. I voted for sanwo olu does not mean I can't criticize him. If that's how you do in your village, is fine, as for me, I am not cool with it. Sanwo olu needs to do more than he's doing. If your life has become useless because of Sanwo olu in Lagos, you can relocate to Anambra, Abia or Ebonyi, if the journey will be too expensive for you to embark on, you can make use of rat poison, is sold for just #100. |

Kukutenla: With all due respect, your comparison is silly to be frank. Lagos is not Anambra. Foolish excuse don start. Even though Obi performed terribly in Anambra State, useless things like you are still licking his hairy ass, thinking he can perform a magic he could not do in small Anambra State in Nigeria. Places like Onitsha was a hellhole under the useless obi in Anambra state, Onitsha could have only been compared to a dustbin, it still looks like a dustbin because of the failure of Obi and APGA, but it has not still stop lowlifes and useless things like you from still voting for apga in Anambra while still licking adaobi hairy anus. |

I'm not a bigot like you who's busy on Nairaland licking politicians anus up and down. If you have a working brain, there's no way you would have even talked about chinedu as the option to sanwo olu, it shows you're just a bitter bigot. I know your kind on top Nairaland, I won't be fooled. You're busy wailing about sanwo olu why your state looks like a dustbin were people are locked indoor by armed men with your governor doing no tangible thing to stop the madness. I voted for sanwo olu and I didn't vote for him to perform woefully like obi, ikpeazu and uguwanyi did in Anambra, Abia and Enugu state. Kukutenla: So why wail? He spent the first four years doing nothing other than settling the power brokers and alatenujes in Lagos. Why are you expecting better in the second term? Sanwo olu has done more project in Lagos in 4 years than what obi did in Anambra State in 8 years. Just because I voted sanwo olu does not mean I won't talk when I have to. I am not like bigots like you who is calling a man who failed as a Governor a messiah. I want sanwo olu to do more, so I won't let him rest till he keeps on doing more. You can keep on licking politicians anus on Nairaland, is your choice, I am not like you, so stop lamenting bitterly because of my comment. |

Kukutenla: Be telling yourselves lies to deceive yourselves. When GRV came out, you said he's Chinedu, Jimi was just kidding. Yet you say no serious opposition. Ambode who was building badly needed infra was kicked out because he did not spread the money round. Sanwo has come to Sanwo to the stakeholders while decieving the rest of you with plenty grammar. He is in his second term. You guys are the architects of what is going on with Lagos so don't blame anyone but yourselves. I can never vote a bigot like chinedu. The ethnic bigot have nothing to offer. When there's a serious opposition in Lagos, people like me will vote the person in power. Sanwo olu is the best among the major candidates, and I have no regret voting for him. Sanwo olu is performing below expectation does not mean I will vote an ethnic bigot. |

Politics › Ecobank’s Lawyer Ogunba Accuses Olanipekun Of Abusing Court Process by Ikaeniyan0(op): 11:40am On Jul 20, 2023 |
SAN: bank owes Honeywell N72.2b Mr. Kunle Ogunba (SAN), counsel for Ecobank in the debt recovery saga with Honeywell, has dragged the law firm of Wole Olanipekun & Co. before the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and the Body of Benchers (BoB). Ogunba urged the NJC & BoB to probe the firm and its founding partner, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for alleged court process abuse. The insolvency expert made the allegations in a July 18 petition letter in the matter of “Shares belonging to Honeywell Group Ltd, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, Anchorage Ltd, Siloam Global Services Ltd and Dr. Oba Otudeko in FBN Holdings Plc or any other entity”. He accused Olanipekun of among others, “unprofessionalism/abuse of the final judgment of the Supreme Court” and “persistent and constant abuse of process of court”. The letter also addressed to the Managing Director, FBN Holdings Ltd., claimed the law firm filed a fresh action to relitigate the matter of Honeywell’s debt already settled by the Supreme Court. It referenced an exchange of letters between his firm, Kunle Ogunba & Associates and Wole Olanipekun and & Co. The SAN said: “We have just been served a copy of correspondence of the 14th instant from the firm of Wole Olanipekun & Co. in response to ours of the 12th instant as regards the above subject. “We are now convinced beyond all previous doubts that the highly esteemed law firm of Wole Olanipekun & Co. will palpably stop at nothing to despoliate the final judgment of the Supreme Court in a dispute that raged for the better part of eight years as would be shown anon, particularly in the light of the “fresh action” {in SUIT NO. FHC/L/CS/352/2023} it has filed at the Federal High Court, in Lagos to palpably relitigate the same subject matter. “Clearly, the response of the firm of Wole Olanipekun & Co. has departed from its previous position that the Supreme Court could not have, and, indeed, did not grant an award claim in favour of the bank and has unilaterally codified a phantom unanimity of position that an entity and personality who undoubtedly guaranteed the facilities are not parties before the court and that a certain figure was never mentioned when the Supreme Court held that the ‘Debtor must pay all the debts that have accrued under the loan contract’. “Indeed, if that position is true for all intents and purposes, the question is why the necessity for a ‘fresh action’ on behalf of the judgment debtors necessitating a counter-claim on our part?” According to the lawyer, “If the preposition of the counsel to Honeywell Group and its cronies are allowed to stand it means there will not be an end to a litigation of a contract between parties enumerating figures…” He argued that a careful analysis of the claim as presented in the “fresh action” shows “vividly that the new action at the lower court is a frontal attack on the Supreme Court judgment because while the Supreme Court has previously held (at page 39 of its judgment) that: ‘The Respondent being the owner of the money dues as debts from the Appellants can decide to waive its right to recover all the debts due to it from each Appellant. But it cannot be compelled to waive a contractual right. “However, by the fresh action filed, the Appellants as Plaintiff now seek an order that the owner (the bank) can be so compelled contrary to the binding decision of the Supreme Court, the highest Court in the land which found as a matter of fact that as of the 17th day of January 2014, the sum of N3,1116,731,061.07 remains outstanding which is more than the=N2b the Plaintiff admitted as due and owing.” But Olanipekun, who said he had received Ogunba’s nine-page letter, disagreed with its contents, saying Ogunba had failed to largely controvert the substance of the succinct points of his letters of July 10 and 14, 2023. Olanipekun said: “We do not agree with the contents of the said letter and reiterate the succinct points in our letters of 10th July 2023 and 14th July 2023, the substance of which have been largely undenied; especially as enumerated in our letter of 14th July 2023. “Please be further advised that by a judgment delivered by the Federal High Court on 18th July 2023, in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/1554/2018 – Honeywell Flour Mills PLC v. Ecobank Nig. Ltd., Ecobank is a judgment debtor to Honeywell Flour Mills PLC in the definite sum of N72,291,990,705 expressly contained in the said judgment.” https://thenationonlineng.net/ecobanks-lawyer-ogunba-accuses-olanipekun-of-abusing-court-process/ |
