My fellow Nairalanders! Please felicitate with me because my God is good and kind to me, to him alone be all the glory.
I just received my long awaited PPR. VV for the spouse of an international student. I learnt a lot from this forum and it is very imperative I give back.

My first application was submitted June 2021
Resubmitted a new application via the new portal January 9 2022.
Refusal letter February 9 2022 (Refused Based on Family ties)
I ordered GCMS notes same day.
Reapplied February 22 2022
PPR April 7 2022


A refusal letter hits differently, I was devastated because I thought I had a strong and convincing application. It took me about 2 weeks to get myself to write a new LOE and SOP.

A sweetheart on this platform @mzjanez01 reached out to me and advised I reapply without the notes. She was kind to share how her husband tackled his refusal reasons as well. Jane, you are far too kind oh! Thanks for all the prayers and kind words.

My GCMS notes arrived on the 12th of March, it seems to be the shortest GCMS notes have seen. The VO wrote that “ applicant has strong family ties in Canada”. To be honest, I was disappointed because I was expecting a more detailed notes. (I kuku report the VO to God)
Luckily for me the VO concern has been addressed in the new application.

What i did to Tackle the refusal reason based on family ties? I strengthened my HOME TIES. Having surfed through YouTube and Other forums, I realized that no one knows your story more than YOU when it comes to addressing Home/Family Ties.
I explained my responsibilities to my parent, I wrote extensively about how important my career in Nigeria is, my personal business and ongoing projects.

Aside being an employee of a reputable agency, I further explained my other commitments and responsibilities that will make me return back to Nigeria and I supported my explanations with valid documents. Although the commitments were briefly mentioned in the first application but this time it was detailed and I connected how my absence will affect each of them. I included more documents to support each claim unlike the first application. To be honest, it wasn’t by the documents but God was fully involved. I think Baba God was tired of me murmuring my application number every morning and night, hence the PPR. lol!

The wait for PPR isnt for the faint hearted especially when you see people who applied after you sharing their timelines (e go come be like say na only you waka come). God of NLP answers prayer, I prayed and fasted fervently for this PPR. Chail! IRCC messed with my mental health. The plan was to visit my spouse after his first academic year but I couldn’t because of the pandemic. As it is, the visa got approved just in time for convocation (graduation is this summer) although Graduation wasn’t stated for purpose of visit, it was plainly “family reunification “


May this kind of joy go round. To all PPR hopefuls, it is just a delay not a denial.

Timeline:

Second application: December 6th 2021
Refusal without refusal letter: February 15th
Reconsideration (Approval without PPR): March 24th
PPR letter: April 4th

Thanks for your response. Yes I am schooling in the Atlantic but still have 2 years to complete my studies. Do I still qualify to apply through the foreign experience category? I think I may not be qualified for the international graduate category because I am still a student.

Hello, I got PPR within 2 weeks of initiating the whole process

Application submission: Feb 26th
Biometric letter: Feb. 27th
Capturing: March 3rd
BVL: March 10th
Passport request: March 10th.

I used the new link. I have no travel history. I used my two accounts to show POF. I have a married citizen brother who invited me. I will be there for the easther holiday.


So my question, can I deliver my passport in person at the Lagos office? I used them for the biometrics

Application Submitted Via new Portal

TRV Application Submitted : Jan 27th

PPR and Approval message February 23rd

No Eligibility review was done


Only saw Eligibility and Background check completed on the day visa was stamped .

Sent via DHL to VFS Abuja (takes 3-4 days max)

I had valid USA visa and also my trv just expired in January, have an application for post graduate work permit in progress too. Application was to renew TRV to return to Canada with my kids who are Canadian passport holders.

Based on the questions whilst filling the form, I qualified for the CAN+ I believe.

Please reapply ASAP using the new portal. To the best of my knowledge, medicals is not required for visitor visa.

I applied for Canada visitor visa 2020 and did biometric January 19, 2021 and till date (March 9, 2022) my visa is still processing. However, I was advise to send an upfront medical exam because I have not been requested for medical assessment. Should I go ahead with the upfront medical exam or keep sending mails and webform to follow up with my application?

Biometrics: Nov 29, 2021 (only father & oldest child, other two children are below 10yrs). After 14days and no feedback I decided to try the new portal.
Re-application on New Portal: Dec 13, 2021
(After 14days and no feedback I started sending scattered emails now and then, afterwards I noticed eligibility began.

Then nothing again for one month, so I started sending emails again (now consistently morning and night to IRCC Nairobi, from early Feb for about two weeks).

Feb 25: BVL
Mar 1: PPR for all 4 of them ( 4days after Bvl).

IRCC likes us to disturb them with emails, lol. Sometimes it’s what propels them to look into your application.

Ok. I believe they will get back to you in March at the latest to enable you prepare for April. Someone said travel date affects processing time.

Ok, I also applied on 9 November 2021 for my wife and daughter to reunite with me here in Canada using the old portal. If I don't hear from them by the end of February. I plan to submit another application using the new portal without withdrawing the old application.

In my case,
It took either 2 or 3 days. However, some persons get it within 24 hours

Eligibility review has not started on the GC Key. But the update I got from MP says eligibility review started since December.

Sent my passport to Abuja VFS office via dhl.
I got an email with the tracking number from vfs on the 1st February 2022.
It’s been like 2 weeks and no email from vfs.
Should I be worried as anytime I keep tracking my passport, I get the message still in transit.
Any idea on the timeframe for passport submitted at Abuja office
Also any idea on how I can contact the Abuja VFs office

Hello Nairalander, I was just refused based on families ties and travel history (never traveled before). An RCIC agent was used thinking it would help as they have experience doing that

I want to go through the application myself now,Please has any one used an agent before that failed and applied by him or herself?
If yes,do I need any information on the past application from the agent?
Also how can the above reasons be tackled in next application as I do not have any property or asset in Nigeria expect my family (wife is a student in Canada expecting a baby in May)
