Thisday just give wailers food. See how them dey stumble on each other.

If this tread helps you with managing your BP, you can continue posting on it for as long as you like. Discerning mind knows the drift around the information that crude oil price is not within the control of government. And people initially thought it was elementary. Obviously, it is not going by the fist going on it.

But wait for your disappointments as this government makes very giant strides after clearing the Augean staple.

Mark my word, you won't wait that long. I know wailing will become louder. But who careshuhhuhhuhhuh?

listen, woman, i am african and in africa, women know their place.... to stay and remain below men. it has always been like that. the good God never created us to be equal. He called woman the complement of man, because she was made out of his ribs! so whether you like it or not, (no matter how it hurts you) you were made to serve us! grin
it's a shame that even animals acknowledge this. in the wild, the lioness does the hunting but the alpha male feeds first.
we know our roles too, which are to provide and protect what belong to us cool
Hmmm...I sha like this tone.
Been reading all the posts on this feminism thing. Nobody has really struck the cord. Truth is that Women are made to control the world, but without making it seam so. Problem started when in trying to make it seam so, they belittle themselves. Even the materialistic tendencies only came to the fore in their attempt to influence men in a wrong operating mode. This is futile because, the only kind of influence possible here is basal. I.e to stimulate their sexual instinct which does not have lasting sustenance and value.

To really influence the world and effectively do it, the women have to be truly feminine (not feminist or do feminism). A real woman can silent a 1000 men and sway them in the right direction with just few subtle words. Key is that, it must be soft touch, soothing and selfless in outlook. I mean Motherly, sisterly, wifely and daughterly in nature. But the moment she subjects herself to chasing materialism and try to be forceful, she loses in the long run. It is akin to trying to push your car from Lagos to Kano instead of just driving it.

How this wrong trend can be reversed is subject of another discussion. I can tell you, before hand, it is like stopping a runaway steam roller moving speedily down the cliff with bare hands.

RomanceRe: 10 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Date A Nigerian Guy Of Today by ikwubaba: 2:57pm On Mar 11, 2016
ourchoice:
Relationship should be based on emotional feelings and love (if at all love exist). And this emotional feelings should be spontaneous and not based on:

1. Financial need or expectation

2. Material need or expectation

etc

But should be based on personality traits like:

1. Character

2. Intelligence

3. Composure

4. Manner

5. Human relation

6. Humor

7. Maybe physical attributes

But unfortunately today, ladies form emotional attraction and love only when they perceive money, favor and some sort of material acquisition in a guy....it is wrong....it is one of the reasons men are losing respect for women all over the world, not just in Nigeria alone.

The question is: if boys and girls go to same school, get equal opportunity to get same job, do same business, live in same climate, environment, why would the girl only fall in love or agree to date or marry a guy because she saw money with the guy and wants financial and material favor from the guy? Why can't she just like the guy and accept him for his looks, character, intelligence, manner, humor, etc....why must it be about money and material wealthhuh

The world has changed....women are no longer discriminated in acquiring academic qualifications and seeking for employment....women now get better or equal opportunity with men...so it is skewed for women to keep falling in love with men because of money and material wealth when we are preaching and agitating for gender equality, think it that way!

If a guy likes you because you are physically attractive, you too should like a guy because he is physically attractive to you and not because you want him to be giving you money, buying you gifts and taking you out with his money, if you do that, he will have a feeling of entitlement and will definitely use that same money he used to get you to get himself more prettier girls with time.
So true. Just that Naija girls still go to school, not learning anything. Majority just do runs and sort out their academics and buy expensive things not commensurate with their background. At the end of the day, they are still half baked and cannot fit in. They become leper seeking help. And to take this help in strides is still difficult. All manners of pride still accompany them in strides. Men are willing to take care of their babes, but they can only do that according to their various abilities and general preferences.

Only places you hear about Rivers APC is mostly on pages of Newspaper or TV stations to make Nigerians from other states feel they control majority of the people in Rivers.
So you didn't know Katsina had a PDP governor? You must be high on something. The people of River state are not fixated on any party. Thay can change anytime. Else, why the election at all?
FamilyRe: What Is The Ideal Spousal Age Difference? by ikwubaba: 9:41am On Feb 10, 2016
Every other thing remaining the same, a regression analysis drawn for seemingly perfect couples indicated a formula simplify as below.

X/2 + 7 = Y

X being the man's age and Y is the woman's age.

Mind you, this assumes every other factor considered of importance are taken care of.

Implication is that a guy of 14 will relate perfectly with a girl of 14 (no evil intended). Buy a man of 70 should be looking at a woman of 42. Not of age 60 as the 10 yrs gap theorist will like to propound.

At the normal marrying age in Nigeria between 30-35 for guys, the babes should be between 22 and 24 yrs.

Conversely, when a lady hits 30, she should be eyeing guys around 46 yrs old.
BusinessRe: Naira Crashes Even Further To 300 Against Dollar by ikwubaba: 3:09pm On Jan 13, 2016
jjman2322:
Ive been following these threads on CBN/$/Devaluation and there is a lot of misinformation.

Let me offer some details as I am a manufacturer and I also have experiences with importation and all that.

First of all, Nigeria does not produce much, we import everything.. All the raw materials our company here needs for production has to be imported.. Now the CBN official rate is N200/$, but it takes months to get that money from the bank.. Years ago, you could import goods on bill for collection(credit) , and submit the documents after clearing, and CBN will pay it in 2 weeks. Now we have some bills pending for 4 months, and have to resort to "black market" to keep business going.

Our product prices have gone up 50% since last year, and this will be similarly felt across all companies. By the middle of this year every imported product will cost at least 50% more. Actually even now go and price a TV, how much was that same TV two years ago, how much is it now, go and price an AC, etc.

The CBN is not fully to blame. I read their 2015 report and the CBN had requests for $60 billion from importers/manufacturers, and they could only meet $6 billion.

If the CBN was to give every manufacturer or importer the dollar they need, the reserve would be depleted in one day.

Oil prices are very low now, hovering around $30/barrel. Here is how the Nigerian government works:

#1. We sell oil, and get paid in dollars.
#2. Local importers/manufacturers now request for those dollars for their imports.
#3. CBN remits dollars to them, and in turn collects the Naira equivalent.

The problem we have now is the Naira will be devalued by the next CBN Monetary meeting this month. They have no choice, as the difference between black market and official market encourages fraud. Let me explain how the fraud happens.

A business man will go and buy a machine from another Nigerian partner in China.
The machine's true value is only $5,000.
The value is inflated to $50,000, and the goods are received and submitted to banks for payment.
CBN gives this importer $50,000. He in turn sells the machine locally, and the balance of $45,000 in China is wired back to Nigeria as "INFLOW".

"INFLOW" means he can sell it to any person who can easily wire it abroad.

So if you do the math, he got $50,000 at N200., CBN/Bank debited him N10,000,000. He now comes back and sells the $45,000 balance for N285 (current inflow rate as of this morning), and makes almost N13,000,000. Easy profit.. Now imagine people are doing this and inflating values by $500,000 , etc. My estimate is that at least 30% of pending bills the CBN has are just round trippers who are cheating the system.

I hope now you understand what's going on.

#1. CBN does not have enough dollars to fund pending and past due bills and obligations from importers and manufacturers. This is why the naira card is now useless abroad as the funds spent by us have to be remitted to Visa & Mastercard in USD. Naira can not be wired outside Nigeria, only foreign currencies can.

#2. Now as you can see that CBN is rationing the dollars, the black market demand has now flourished. We and hundreds of other manufacturers have been steadily buying at black market since last year to stay in business, as our suppliers in India and China will no longer ship raw materials if they are owed for 4+ months.

#3. The end result is that we have to increase our prices to match black market rate. If you import $100,000 worth of raw materials at N200 vs N285, the difference is over 40% , and this is factored into the cost of the product.

#4. Iran has a lot of oil, and sanctions have been lifted and they will flood the market. Saudi arabia is OK flooding even more oil into the market as their cost of drilling is one of the lowest in the world. What this all means is that oil prices will stay very low for a long time to come. There is excess supply and not enough demand.

#5. Everyone keeps saying Nigeria needs to manufacture, however this climate is nonsense for manufacturing. We can't compete with China made products. I'm a manufacturer but there are many products our company doesn't make, not because we can't but because we can't compete.

For example, as I type we have not had NEPA for the past 2 days and we are running 1000KVA Perkins generator. It uses about a drum of diesel per hour. You can do the math.

You can't buy raw materials from China, pay duty, produce, and compete with China that has low energy cost.

There is a reason why Nigerians aren't making all these petty items locally. The money is there to start it, but you cant compete with China. Everything is made in China smiley

As I type, ive found about 4 industries I could easily import machines for and start producing locally. However, everytime I do my final costings, it is always at least 20% cheaper to directly import it from China. Nobody is an idiot. Would you start a toothpick factory locally if your manufacturing costs (including diesel) are $1 per 1000 toothpicks, and meanwhile China is selling it for $0.40 per 1000 toothpicks..

You would just order 10 containers and sell. In my opinion, we are going into a deep recession. The fact that our reserves cant even cover pending bills (imports, bills for collections, LC's waiting, Mastercard, Visa, etc), means that we are almost done.

The current CBN governor is just patching the wounds.. There is no easy fix, naira will probably be N400 by end of the year and the drug you bought for N500 last year will now be N1000, meanwhile you are making the same salary. This is what inflation & recession is and it is going to hit Nigeria really hard.

One more thing people keep saying is ban imported items, produce locally.. Well it takes a long time to setup land, import machines, (if complicated need to hire foreign staff).

Where will the machine come from?
Where will the raw materials come from?

At the end of the day, lets assume they ban a certain item, what that means is that you will just pay more for it locally, as our local guys CAN'T compete with China. Some companies in Nigeria spend upwards of N1,000,000 for electricity(diesel/nepa costs) per day. That's N30,000,000 a month. How can you compete with a developed country?

God help us.
Educated people like this is why I am still patient enough to be reading stuff on Nairaland. Don't know if you are completely correct, but the logic is really compelling.

Thanks for this piece. I believe further discussion on this matter should stem from here.

I support the Biafra project.

But they should all return to their homeland and then chase every other person from there. It is as simple as that.

YOU CANNOT BE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY (ZOO) AND BE SHOUTING BIAFRA.

They should move from North and South-west back to the East or Eastern region and then systematically drive away others. With that everyone knows you are serious and it becomes easy to achieve.

If you remain in Kaduna, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Lagos etc investing heavily, selling fake/original goods and reaping heavily from others and shouting Biafra, I think it is foolish. You are invariably saying we will continue to milk you in your land, but we want to take sole possession of the oil in the ND (Are ND even part of this?), Then you certainly have the sense of an ostrich.

It is actually good we actualize Biafra. But they should move from the other part of Nigeria (or Zoo as they call it)

A very nice write-up and one with one of the best carefully chosen diction I have read on NL. However, suffice is to say that the intent of this write-up is to mislead the readers. One will argue with me that what I have just read is the OP's opinion and that everyone has the right to air his or her opinion, but that does not negate the fact that the opinion is this powerful article is coated with finely twisted facts.

If that statement is anything to go by, then you are saying that 'they are guilty' until proven otherwise. Which of course is standing logic on its head. Remember the many allegations against Buhari and those against Jonathan just before the March general elections, yet you went ahead and voted one of them. Where lies your own integrity?

Saraki's case is in court and it is left for him to clear himself but in the mean time he heads the senate. Are you then saying that because almost all the senate members are undergoing one trial or the other, they should not screen the nominees? Nawa o. They will have to really investigate the allegations you mentioned hanging on the neck of Ameachi and Fashola na and knowing that falsification of assets declaration is now a crime (one that even their leader is answering for) at least someone might be roped in and the witch hunting continues from there. This will of course be good for Nigeria and Nigerians.

Since the accusers are yet to charge him to any court, how can he clear himself if we insist the senate cancel his name from the list of would-be ministers?

Yes, its time. But it is not going to happen overnight bro. Nigeria is a multi-everything state, so we shall patiently get there.
Most people you say, who shouted for the head of Oduah are the ones who are saying leave Fashola and Rotimi alone, at the same time those who cried leave our dear Oduah alone are the one the shouting give us the blood of Ameachi. That is the irony of it all, but in-between you will find well meaning Nigerians who are crying 'let justice be done, irrespective of who or what is involved'. You too can be one.

Finally, I have my own questions about most of the nominees (except Alhaji Lai Mohammed who has been exceptional in his duty), but my consolation is the saying that we should ''be not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; but afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion". Let us leave the senate to do their work while we continue to pray for the success of this administration and the ones to come.

God bless Nigeria.

I am marveled to my marrows when I saw the comments that greeted the ministerial list. Actually, it should have been the 8th wonder of the world if the likes of Fashola, Amaechi, Fayemi, Ngige etc are not found there. It is ironical that we expect these men to be seen as upright by PMB before election and then suddenly become evil men with loads of corruption after PMB wins. That on its own will be treachery and backstabbing on the part of PMB. Everything about is his integrity would nosedive if he had played into the trap. Even if these men have skeletons, they have joined his anti-corruption crusade and he has to be consistent on his view of them. Like a thief who has decided to help the police (I am assuming they are corrupt). I am sure those wailing on the inclusion of these names would be the first to take to the social media of use and dump by PMB.

But let's look at the uproar on it's face value. We shout Technocrats...Technocrats!!!!. Where did we get the idea that technocrats will automatically act in good stead? were Deziani, Oduah and NOI (to mention a few) not technocrats before they were called to serve? What can we make of them today? they can technically steal the country blind in few months abi?

In any case, I do not know what logic holds that, politicians will deploy there time, resources and risk their lives to change a government, while the technocrats who have been drinking tea and typing away from the comfort of his office will be expecting to be appointed as ministers. Only Niaja logic I guess. If technocrats wants to be appointed, they should come out from their offices (Nigeria or in Diaspora) to come and do the dirty work of effecting change in government. Some of the appointments were erstwhile technocrats whom have made their margins in politics and have performed creditably well. They were simply hounded through campaign of calumny recently to ensure they are not appointed. The foolishness on the part of the campaigners is that, they are playing a game PMB is very familiar with. For the past 12 years, PMB was a victim of smear campaign with its highest crescendo close to the election that brought him into office. It is boundless stupidity to expect him to fall for them.

If I didn't see those names in the cabinet, I would have actually suspected a fowl play on the part of PMB.

Saraki can fight back by setting up probe panel on some dealing Tinubu had and ofcourse indict Tinubu too or whoever is behind his current travail. They all have skeleton in their cupboard.
It will come to nullity as lawmakers cannot execute anything. Even when they issue a communique and come to a resolution, the executive can simply ignore and that's it. The only means the executives are controlled by the house is the power to make law. And that includes the power to impeach. So as a president, you don't want to be impeached as it cannot be entertained (technically) by a court, so long as all the processes are followed to the later.
In Nigeria however, the processes for impeaching a president is so windy, it is extremely difficult. Even with blazing corruption and ineptitude, you need to bestir yourself seriously before moving such a motion. You need 240 lower house first, then the senate and Chief judge will prosecute, with 2/3 senate (73) in agreement to remove him. How do you secure that? You can do all you can even with all lower house members on your side, he needs only 37 senators to stall you. See the toothless-ness of the upper house?

Waoh! see interests generated here.

It may be good for us to dig far into the reason why there are definitions for what a woman and a man dressing is in any society. The fall of humanity was achieved by direct target on woman. This is because woman is the spiritual leader of the entire humanity. Her volition will from eternity to eternity, direct the cause and fate of all. A man will never be able to garner enough capacity to withstand her powers. This is the reason why great men/women of old put in place so much rules and norms to protect her delicate nature. These have been misplaced and even rubbished in implementation to the point of even making her look lesser as a specie. it was ok for women to fight for their right and recognition, but that process has also been hijacked by the power of evil and darkness. The whole thing was now taken beyond the safe boundary. What we have at the moment are women (leader of humanity) bringing themselves to all time low, struggling continually to advance in the direction of nudity. Submitting to the antics of evil forces (the crafty serpent) by continually seeking attention in the wrong direction. The ambience and good motherly feel which the women of yore use to bring to bear, have been replace with ugliness and terrible conduct exuding pungent smell everywhere. The clothing of a woman should radiate pure beauty and nobility not to elicit base cravings. You need to go back and see how women dress in the old to confirm this. What we call progress now is tearing down and exposing what is most precious to woman thereby creating very dark spiritual cloud around her. And it accounts to why many are regarded as playing thing for men.

As a matter of fact, humanity is doomed. Man will be unable to hold themselves back from reacting or responding to the effect of the emanation of woman. Man simply do not have that capacity. Even when some men can withstand or be repulsed by these ugly form, the generality of men will finally fall. That is not to say they will not be accountable for their actions.

I laugh at those who says there is no responsibility for the woman. Nothing is really free. Everything will avenge itself in thousands of folds.

call me a bigot but my people have refused to listen, why should it be Liar Mohammed and Femi Adeshina that have to clean up Buhari's vomit. Let Shehu Garba do those dirty job. They and their career will go down the toilet bowl faster than they know because of having to interprete jargons from the stables of an illiterate, they will come under the heavy criticsm of Nigerians while Shehu Garba will move on to become the minister of information or other more dignifying roles. Because their reputation is going down the drain fast, I am not a saTANIST nor Progrethieves. Oodua, I hope your inner eyes can see what I am talking, It has always been like this from the get go. Matured response not quotes from those still wearing diapers. Thank You
I think some Nairalanders here a very dull children. A man at 72 said "At 72, there is limit to what I can do" and it looks like he has said something abnormal. Even at the age of 20, there is limit to what anyone can do. The statement is axiomatic and should not evoke anything. A man is got limitations at any age. If you expecting him to run 65km maraton at that age, na you sabi.

But typical of idle SaTANic children, it is a subject of great discussion for you. Make una continue
CrimeRivers State Police And Security Agents Hand In Glove With Kidnappers by ikwubaba(op): 2:45pm On Jun 19, 2015
Friends,
I have been hearing in many places that police and security agents do deals with kidnapping. Nothing supports this assertion than what is going on in Rivers state. Information available shows that nearly 1 person is kidnapped on the average per day. Ransom is paid and person released, while they go for another.

Recently a guy I know very well (name withheld for security reasons) was kidnapped early in the morning 1st of June close to his house on his way to the office. He was kept somewhere in Port-Harcourt around Uniport. Due to some stroke of coincidence and luck he was able to escape. A large crowd appeared on Saturday morning to use the entire building without the knowledge of the caretaker who was also in the racket. Unfortunately for them it was too bright in the day to relocate the guy. So, they simply vanished. My guy hearing the large noise in the environment from people preparing the hall and environment for a very serious religious activity suspected that his fate might have changed. He did a few things to confirm his abductors are nowhere near. He quickly worked hard to untie himself and forced the window of the toilet where he was kept opened (the door was fastened with protectors and iron bars) and removed the not too strong protector of the window. He checked and discovered he is on first floor of the building. Well, it didn't matter, he jumped and landed safely with some pain definitely.

There was some drama as the owner of the building started shouting Thief/robber. He recalled this could even lead to his death (Aluu-4 comes to mind). He smartly went straight for her, jacked her and started accusing her of kidnapping him. As expected, everyone gathered to resolve the issue. It was then they discovered he had been held captive in the building for 5 days and the woman in question owns the place, but had no knowledge of what was going on. Looking around, the housekeeper/caretaker had disappeared.

Events.
1-Police had been notified of the kidnapped incidence and they demanded 100k to commence investigation-Why?
2-Police did nothing. But friends were able to track the location of where calls where coming from and notified police and anti-kidnapping squad-nothing happened.
3-Relations/friends where hopeless and had been begging kidnappers who were insisting on 20 Million even when alert on his phone shows he is nowhere near that amount.
4-My guy was able to escape and gave police all the information they needed to go after the culprits-for where? Police instead went arresting every students in sight near the place and asking them to bail themselves for 50k each.
5-Uptill now, police have done nothing about this case. They are asking for 200k to pursue the culprits.
6-Police are asking my guy to also pay 200k for his car that was abandoned by the kidnappers and was taken to police station.

Question: I thought this is supposed to be an easy case for Rivers state police commissioner. Why the reluctance. I am forced to agree with the assertion that they are in the paybooks of these kidnappers. Don't think it takes anything spectacular to locate where a call is originating from. What is preventing us from moving up the notch in crime tracking and intervention?. Even in this case, that aspect of the job is already done.

Please o. Nairalanders, we need to pass this on until it gets to police service commission and possibly PMB himself. Apart from Boko-haram there is need to focus on other security issues as well. Rivers state issues is alarming. They were only not being reported.
