khiaa:The point of making those references wasn’t to use them to justify my position. No, that would be a weak argument. The point of those references was to point out that morality is subjective, and sadly, religious folk like yourself tend to be picky about which perceived vices that should be fought against. If indeed all abominations (as provided by your religious book) were equal for you, you would be living in every single Nairaland post, screaming and preaching about everything and anything from lying to murder and people eating with their left hand and not keeping the sabbath day. You wouldn’t selectively be interested in things like homosexuality. ♂️ 2. Supposedly your white Jesus was conceived through artificial insemination!!Which one is White Jesus again? Biko, don’t veer the conversation with this one now, Abeg. 3. You are being ridiculous, the Bible/Torah/Koran tell us what kinds of food we are supposed to eat with fish being on the list. Is it stated for us to eat the fish raw?Pause. That the penis fits into the vagina is one of the foundations of your argument? Honey, reading up about anal sex will make most men realize that heterosexual intercourse is probably comparably underwhelming. People who have tasted both vagina and anus have sworn that the latter is tighter and snugger. But don’t take my word for it. You can ask your significant other (if you have one) to run an experiment and give you his honest opinion on how both body parts fit. Lol. There are many demon deities that you can believe in that will support your desire to have your butthole rammed with a big fat one.I laugh at this embarrassment. Oh wow! pS... God knew what he was doing when he made the female vaginA to give extreme pleasure to man. Just because you get pleasure from a pole up your bottom isn't a reason to shove one up it.Speaking from two sides of the mouth, are we? In one sentence, you talk about how the pleasure derived from vaginal sex is proof that it’s a gift from god, in another, you decry the pleasure gotten from anal sex. Well, I don’t expect more. Double speak is something religious faithfuls and leaders are known for. |
SIRcumalot:Okay. I’m pushing it lower on the to read list. Lol. Have you read Marlon James’ fantasy book? What do you think? |
khiaa:And god created the mouth for eating and food for mouth, if you’re one of those people that give or receive blowjobs, or incorporate food in sex, you’re committing an abomination. God made it so that women have to be naturally inseminated by their husband, if you use IVF or adopt, you’re committing an abomination. God made food to be eaten raw, if you process your food, you’re committing an abomination. Let’s all be stupid together. And whilst we are on the matter, which God are you referring to? I’m sure there’s a God out there that envisioned that men would come to love to pleasure each other, otherwise, he wouldn’t put the male pleasure spot behind the scrotum and accessible only through the anus. Either that, or he has a wicked sense of humor. ♂️ |
SIRcumalot:What’s this like? I’ve been meaning to read the book but I’m not in the mood for a boring literary fiction novel. Lol. |
khiaa:Married heterosexual couples have intercourse several times a year. Do they (aim) to get pregnant every single time they couplate? There are heterosexual couples that can’t have children biologically; they don’t have sex? Heterosexual couples that don’t want children, nko? They don’t have sex? Procreation is just one of the functions/uses of sex. The rest are available to couples that can’t have children. |
Please, yourself and your sexual partner should go to a hospital. Sexually transmitted infections/diseases can be very tricky and complicated. Inadequate treatment may make things worse in the long run whilst providing a short respite. Even if you use a medication procured from a chemist that stops one or more of the symptoms, the infection may enter a latent stage and continue to wreck havoc inside your body. Yes, a hospital may seem expensive now, but when compared to the cost of complications such as infertility and death, the few thousands of Naira you’d spend it worth less than those. Good luck. |
Originalsly:Okay, I’m done. Lol. |
biGDhAp:How is homosexuality a stain to the world then? That’s my point. Abnormality? What iis normal? |
mechanics:Deuteronomy 22:22: If a man is discovered committing adultery, both he and the woman must die. In this way, you will purge Israel of such evil. Matthew 5:27-28: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Leviticus 19:19: 19 “You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material.” Leviticus 19:23-25: 23 “‘When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, regard its fruit as forbidden.[a] For three years you are to consider it forbidden[b]; it must not be eaten. 24 In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, an offering of praise to the Lord. 25 But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way your harvest will be increased. I am the Lord your God.” My point is that the Bible said that a lot of things (some of which we do today) are sins. Now, for people who believe the Bible and live by its dictates, this is a big deal because it means we shouldn’t be so quick to castigate people who sin differently from us when we ourselves are not without sin. However, For people who don’t believe the Bible on the other hand, these tenets will hold no water as they don’t have to live according to the Bible. Hence, to scream that homosexuality is wrong in a society made up of people, some of whom aren’t Christians or Jewish, is rather myopic. Imagine if Muslims went around screaming that drinking alcohol is haram and everyone should cease to do that. Yes, your religion may be against homosexuality. But that doesn’t mean everyone else should be forced to agree with that. Using religion as a argument against homosexuality is myopic. ♂️ |
And then... it happened. |
Funkyswagzz:How can you put your stuff in a woman’s stuff?! How?! That’s ridiculous! I’m sure some people think some of the stuff you do during sex is bizarre but then... that doesn’t really mean anything. So what does you thinking that homosexual intercourse is bizarre bring to the table? |
. |
biGDhAp:There are human beings robbing other human beings blind by taking advantage of the position of power they occupy; people are blowing other people up with bombs; some of us are contributing so much climate pollution to the world that our descendants will inherit an Earth in crisis...but it’s queer people that’s a stain on the world? Really, Bro? I wish I could be as short sighted and myopic as you. Things seem very simple to you. |
In biGDhAp:And I’m not a racist but I don’t like seeing black people.... What does that make me? Why is it okay for straight people to have PDAs but it isn’t okay for queer people? |
Originalsly:When people argue that something is (un)natural, I really wonder what they mean? How exactly, is homosexuality unnatural?

Your point ?..... |
mechanics:According to the Bible, it’s wrong to eat the fruit of a young tree, wear clothes with two different types of clothing or eat many of the things we eat today. Let’s face it, according to the Bible (Old Testament), we are all going to hell. Why cherry pick and give special attention to people having sex with people of the same sex, one of the many many things that is wrong according to the Bible? I don’t see you guys raving about how fornication is wrong according to the Bible... Does it have something to do with the fact that people like to turn a blind eye to their own sins? |
Tv Romeo3:No. Even the Bible is conflicted about why Sodom was destroyed but it never explicitly said that the problem was homosexuality. Interestingly, if that whole drama played out today, I’m sure you lot will be singing a whole different tune. |
Mazk:The law says a lot of things including not paying tax are crimes, I hope you don’t flout any of them. In the North, things get more serious as drunkenness and (female) spouse committing adultery are crimes, too. There’s a relationship between morality and the law, but that relationship should rarely be in the form that things that are made illegal are immoral. As we very well know, not all things that are criminalized are immoral. If the Hate Speech Bill and the Social Network Bill ate passed into law and assented to, it will become a crime to say things that are similar to criticizing the government. Does it make those acts immoral? The better formula is that that which is immoral may be criminalized. But even that should be done in consideration of the extant societal practices and prevailing circumstances. The world has gone beyond the point where we argue that homosexuality is wrong simply because an old law that hasn’t been edited or reviewed in decades says so. |
jeff1607:Done it yet? Did it work? Cheaper? |
STILESGANG: People with very limited knowledge about awards making profound declarations. |
beresponsible:Maybe. But the RCA will more likely prefer Kidjo... |

I remember watching the movie Things Fall Apart when I was (maybe) six years old, way before I read the book. The nostalgia is strong and I really want to see the movie again. I remember the beautiful performance and the sweet Igbo dialect. If you know how and where I can get the movie, the one in Igbo (not the one with Pete Edochie oh!), please drop a comment!!! |
I just finished The Mothers by Brit Bennet (a very nice read). I’m currently reading Caine short stories. Meh. |
calliope:Was this in ePub format? Could you share? |
Just finished Highly Illogical Behaviour by John Corey Whaley. Yep, I couldn’t keep my word to not read anything new. . I’ll rate the book 2.3/5. I really shouldn’t read another YA book anytime soon. |
Just finished Jonathan Hadit’s The Righteous Mind. Awesome nonfiction book about psychology and morality. I am very hesitant about starting another book. Books have become very distracting these days and I will be engaged with a very serious task that requires my full attention soon so no point buying distractions for myself before then..... I hope I can keep my wits about me! |

infotail:Sorryyy. Even though I hear these stories a lot, it still hurts. |
An Orchestra of Minorities by Chigozie Obioma. 1/4 way in and so far it is looking very good. I think this book might be better than The Fishermen. Let me hold off on giving full reviews till I am done reading the book, sha. |
I do not get it when people talk about masturbation as if it is a vice. It isn't anymore unhealthy for you than penetrative sex. Heck, masturbation is even more healthy considering that you not be exposed to the STDs that other people might carry. Sure, just like food, masturbation can become bad for you if done excessively and if you become addicted. But the idea is to use common sense and enjoy yourself reasonably. My two cowries sha. |
Sorry, I didn't mean to sexually excite you.
This goes for women as well who participate in these perversions.
