My own personal list:

1. God giving a detailed explanation of why and how he created the universe. Using a human as an emissary won’t cut it, he has to deliver this message himself.

2. Jesus proving that he is the son of God. We won’t take his word for it. A DNA test might do, though.

3. God should impregnate someone else whilst we watch - for academic purpose, of course. This has to be a controlled experiment so no bethronement or sending angels to do his dirty work.

4. He explains whilst he says he’s one thing but does the opposite - like say that he loves everyone but asks one people to wipe out another tribe.

5. Explain his obsession with sex and why it’s so important to him that women be inferior.

6. Prove that he didn’t plagiarize the creation stories.

Okay, pause. I think we have gotten off on the wrong foot. The Bible is the problem, not God. Asking God to prove himself is like asking Okonkwo from Things Fall Apart to prove himself.

What we need is proof that the Bible is what it says it is - which the contrary has been proven.

You misunderstand, but perhaps that's because I wasn't clear in my explanation. I'm acknowledging that the light and sound theory is a myth and what was meant was energy and vibration. Quantum theory confirms that all matter is energy (quanta) vibrating at different frequencies.
As to the origin of both both of them, well I'm not an athiest. I believe in an intelligent design. And I think both theist and atheist alike should unless they are blindly ignoring even the science they embrace. My veiws of God however no longer coincide with anything in mainstream religions.

The argument of intelligent design is faulty in its premise - but let’s not get into that now.

I wonder why you needed to bring the sound and light myth in to explain the energy and vibration statement? It makes your argument less logical.

Yuval tends to sound very excited, and that’s part of the reason why I love reading his works.

I think he comes off as if he’s anticipating such a rebellion because he is convinced that it is already happening, and doesn’t have a stance against the movement.

It’s almost like listening to Adichie talk about feminism. Lol

The burden to practice safe sex is on both partners. If one is in adventedly exposed to the virus, they’re can still see medical help to ensure that they stay negative within a given window period.

If the solider has been on medication and is taking them properly, the risk of infecting these people with HIV will reduced (to as much as 0 percent).

Whether the accused person’s acts are illegal or not depends on the constructs of the relevant law in Thailand, but scientifically quite explainable.

This is just an updated version of the argument for intelligent design.

This postulation does not tell us where light and sound came from and why they started interacting the way they did.

Lastly, the interference propounded to have taken place between sound and light here is inconceivable. Sound does not in anyway distort light, especially on such a grand scale to produce different matter. Additionally, if this was true, we would be seeing a recurrent version of the creation taking place because light and sound still exist and interact - albeit without creation.

This is just a case of stretching science to explain one’s ideas.

Some. And to the best of my knowledge most of the fees prescribed by these hospitals aren’t for the staff. For example, paying for tests and contributing for a dead patient isn’t for the staff’s benefit directly.

Additionally, if you or someone you know feel like the staff of a particular hospital is acting unprofessional, take it up with the doctor or a senior staff at the hospital, find out the corporate sponsors (because the Nigerian government is very lackadaisical about HIV treatment in Nigeria, NGOs have taken up the bulwark of providing the necessary medication depending on their agreement with the relevant hospital) of the the clinic and report the staff accordingly.

Oh. In that case I have very limited experience on the matter. If you are using an Android enabled phone, the same procedure that I described above can be used to utilize subtitles with the VLC mobile app.

For iOS, I do not have any insights at the moment.

I noticed something a bit disturbing in the book about the lack of warmth between northern Muslim women and their first born child what is that about ?is it a culture thing? Google has no answer.

@calliope.i know you've read it.

It seemed like a cultural thing that was pronounced more heavily than it is in the contemporary society by the author to give effect to the story he was telling. I remember highlighting that part whilst reading the book, with hopes of asking the author about it; unfortunately I forgot all about it when I got to the end and was overtaken by the wave of emotions I felt at that point.

So I have been very very busy reading and finishing:

Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow and 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, both by Yuval Harairi. I thoroughly enjoy his books and I think I’m going to read these again next year, if I have the time. They are less entertaining than Sapiens, but I suspect that this is because Sapiens was a discovery book that is more pronounced to my narrating self than it affected my experiencing self.

This Is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay. This is a very funny book, but it illuminates real issues. I think it’s good timing that I read this book when I did - I needed a pick me up and a diversion from the real world.

Dear Ijeawele... by Chimamanda Adichie. I’m reading this book again and it’s still very relevant and instructive. I still recommended it to anybody and everybody, especially people who are quick to judge feminism and Ms. Adichie.

I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I really want to read fiction but I am afraid that I have outgrown that genre. Going through my book stash, Carl Zimmer’s She Has Her Mother’s Laugh just jumped at me and I am trying (and failing) to ignore the book. ��

If you use VLC (on a laptop), you can google search the name of the movie/series and download the .srt file. For example:

Inception.2010.HD.srt
Modern.Family.Season10.Episode2.HD.srt.

Then you have to make sure that the .srt file is saved with the same name as the movie or episode you want to watch in the same folder. This should automatically link the two so that the subtitle is activated when you start watching the movie.

Alternatively, you can add the .srt file using the ‘add subtitle’ option when you the movie is playing on vlc.

Like attracts like, demons are unclean spirits,
so they were naturally attracted to the conveniently nearby herd of pigs, that are known for being unclean

Pigs (i.e. bacon, sausage, pork belly, pork scratchings, spare ribs etcetera)
are allowed to be consumed by Christians and whatnot because of the following reasons:
1/ Biblical food laws for religious reasons are no longer required
2/ Food Hygiene Regulations, Food Safety Act and Food Standards Agency protects consumers from getting access to food that is unsafe to eat
and/or that is harmful to human health

Homosexuality is as biological as heterosexuality. Homosexual activity has been documented to have taken place amongst a wide range of animals. The sexual activity between two males involves the use of body parts that are biological. The ejaculation that results from such sexual relations is natural. The hormones that are in play before, during and after homosexual intercourse is the same as those that come into play before, during and after heterosexual intercourse.

Your husband should contact his classmates so that they will discuss the matter and handle it as a group. They will command more attention if they act as a group than as individuals.

The obvious option is for them to approach the said lecturer, the Head of Department and Dean of Faculty.

If these meetings prove abortive, then they should write to the school administration.

That said, I do not think that the situation is bad yet. It is not out of the ordinary for schools to conduct examination for prospective students whilst the results of the immediately past set has not been released. It all depends on the reason for the delay and the department's precedents.

What religion? The one that preaches hatred and intolerance? The one that puts the needs of men above that of women? The one that glorifies illgotten wealth? The one that encourages laziness and ignorance? The one that encourages extolles child marriage and sacrifice?

Laws should have very little to do with religion. That has been proven time, and time again. Do not expect millions of people to adhere to something you believe was inspired and passed down eons ago.

I cannot presume to know what you are going through. I cannot even say that I understand.

However, I can tell you that it is not as bad as it seems right now.

Sure, you are scared and feeling betrayed, but then I am almost certain that in six months time, you would have forgotten how you feel right now.

First thing you should know is that it is 2018 and not 1988. HIV, whilst a chronic health condition, is not a death sentence. It is not as much of a big deal as it used to be. We understand the virus better now and have more effective ways of managing it. So testing positive may not be as ground breaking and life altering as you think.

The most important thing for you right now is to understand that there is no reason to be worried. I mean, it is not like you can do anything to alter your position now and worrying is not going to change that.

Try to maintain a positive mindset. Do not obsess over it. It is not worth it. If you have a trusted friend or confidant, talk to them.

Try and maintain a healthy lifestyle now. Avoid sex at this point. Get tested. It may turn out to not be HIV but another sort of STI.

Good luck. I expect to hear some good news from you in three and six months time.

PS: There are options out there to prevent and manage HIV and other STIs. Always use a condom. Alternatively, you can start on on PrEP (a drug taken daily to prevent HIV infection). If you have unprotected sex, seek medical help and try to have PEP (a batch of drugs taken not less than 72 hours after exposure to prevent HIV infection) administered. Get tested regularly. Get vaccines for some of these diseases which are available.
