I need not tell you Sierra Leoneans are essentially Nigerians(Samuel Ajayi Crowther) the most notable of these. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Krio_people So I say we start a campaign to force him(Ryan) back home ![]() Just joking of course !! |
Shocked? Well, not exactly , ![]() But his dad is black (Sierra Leonan ancestry) ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Giggs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:People_of_Sierra_Leonean_Creole_descent |
Never. I find it difficult reading a book twice,just like films, I can't watch a fim 2 times. |
je parle un peu le francais |
Kirk Carman |
Comedy central !! ![]() Nigeria1, Pls leave your religion out of this please. Try to listen to other people's point of view. Brandishing your beliefs & pastors names won't get you anywhere. |
Singular=Alumnus Plural = Alumni No, I didn't attend this noble institution ![]() |
I agree the England game may have fired up Gerrard. What do you guys make of this rift btw Rafa & Hicks? |
@Orikinla Although this thread was essentially meant for Chimamanda, I think we need more people like you. So I move Orikinla for the Nobel ![]() But honestly, I have always been concerned with Achebe's obvious tribalism, i always looked at it from the point of view of espousing his culture, roots etc,but when viewwed against the backdrop of issues esp the Nobel prize,i think you're right on the spot, @SMc From a critic's view point ,whats you take on HOAYS? |
Congrats peeps. Newcastle 0 3 Liverpool . What do you think of Gerrard's performance? |
She's actually very smart and beautiful, But from all indications she'll opt for an Ndigbo ! So Doyin sorry o ! |
You are very welcome my brother ! ![]() You'll never walk alone. ![]() Just tell us what attarcts you to this great club |
Anybody read half of A yellow Sun? |
I just googled Orikinla & i came up with Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima ! ![]() Haven't really read any of his books sha! But I appreciate all your analysis, God bless Nigerian authors. |
I'll allign myself with the only female poster so far, maybe you should try to talk to your wife a bit more to understand your condition. Adultery won't solve the problem as you'll always have a reason to commit, today its pregnncy , tomoroow it may be something else. |
The fact remains that they were both in Barca feeder (youth)team & only one graduated into the senior team, which one please? |
I must say I am really intrigued with Nigeria1's passion , he obviously takes no prisoners ![]() He is unbelievably and unrepentantly tribalistic ![]() The fact is that govt is set up to serve the people. What name or configuration you give to it does not matter. For those old enough, the fgact is that the quality of life in the 3 region structure is incomparable to what obtains now, so whats the point, more govs, more deputy govs, more houses of assemblies etc. We can compare ourselves to America, canada etc , but the history, demographies & economies are totally different. Once a system cannot serve people & address elementary things like healthcare, education & other social services IT HAS FAILED. So creating 100 more states won't solve the problem. The LGs once they are stregthened and they deliver dividends of democracy as outlined in my previous posts is the way to go, Tunde my mechanic, Ikechukwu my generator man, Alhassan the maiguard in my area are less concerned whether Nigeria has 200 states or whether PDP is in govt. So I say lets deliver to the peopls first & foremost. |
@Orikinla Nice one,it won't be bad if they both(Ngozi & Helen) get to win the Nobel anyway, I was essentially fantasizing ![]() But you will agree they both have what it takes. I tend to agree with some of your arguments , I think when Chimamanda can trancend to writing successful plays , poems etc , we will all begin to take her seriously. ![]() I'm enjoying Half of a yellow Sun, it kinda has an erotic tinge to it , in my own opinion. ![]() I certainly need to read more Nigerian authors, seems you have a 'inner circle' view, who permit me is the real person behind Orikinla ? ![]() |
@bgees, How can u say Zico has no achievements? Both as a player & his limited(short) stint as a coach he has been very successful, he's currently with Fenabache http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zico Livepool play with a South American flair & Wenger who also coached like (Zico) has made a success of Arsenal. one thing we must realise is that to get long term (&lasting) success we should invest in younger coaches(although Zico is 53 now) & not necessarily established names, Man U took the gamble in 1986, see where they are now, I've already mentioned Arsenal as well. Zico is just one of numerous coaches who can fit . Lippi? Never! When someone has one the World Cup what other hurdle is bigger than that, he will just coast his way to the bank. QED |
@bgees I agree Benitez should replace McClaren I honestly think we should go South American(Zico?) |
But the premier league has declared the MSI runs dead on arrival |
Well said bro ![]() |
Not necessarily, awards go beyond economic gains, It ore or less makes a political statement. How many Nobel laureate a country produces may be a reflection(to some degree) of the state of the category in question within the recepient's own country. Outside the Nobel award whats your opinion on this charming lady & her second novel please? I'd like critical views too o ! ![]() |
I know I may be slightly ahead of myself here ,but I think this young lady is absolutely amazing and genuinely talented. I'm currently on Half of A Yellow Sun, her second novel & I think she's on the right path . Please lets share thoughts on the novel and this amazing lady, Her personal website: http://www.l3.ulg.ac.be/adichie/ The novel: http://www.halfofayellowsun.com/ |
Question should read:Who is more effective? Without any reservation: Lionel |
Let me just add my 2 cents,I think the 'Ruggedy Baba' song(with 9ce) on its own is really cool. Haven't heard something dat original in a while, though I tend to agree dat he needs to move on from responding to every yab/issue directed at him and also the video was a bit below what i've come to expect from Rugged man. |
chychy:You know 'dating' is beyond 'sleeping with'. From a lady's's point of view ,there may not be a prob , but as a man I would look at it like "chei my frind done do this thing before, she will now end up with me !" In addition to the likelihood of them doing it behind my back(believe me its possible), so i wouldn't |
Ok now ![]() Have a lovely weekend. ![]() |
@doyin13, Thanks, The main problem with our local govt system apart from the endemic Nigerian problems of corruption, lack of accountabilty & tranparency etc which I need not harp about , the LGs esp have in addition excessive politicisation&very low capacity(human resources). 1. I would advocate the states create as many LGs as they want, and funding should be another matter entirely. So states should essentially create what can be managed & not the current system where the Nat assembly dictates how a states administrative set up should be. 2. The elected Councillors/chairmen do not necessarily have to RUN the LGAs,they can appoint 'city managers ' like you have in the US. These individuals(city managers) will be responsible for the running of the LG area,. Where more than one LG Council make up a city (e.g Kano,Ibadan, owerri). all the councils within the city should agree on actual modalities. lagos for instance is actually 5 'cities' Epe,Badagry,Ikorodu,Lagos Island & Lagos Mainland. 3.So while the Councillors/Chairmen act as board members, the city manger who must be professionally recruited, will to some extent be immune from politics & be on contract. These are just a few of my suggestions, not fool proof but has some merits and is definitely better than our current hopeless situation. |
