pu7pl3: Season 1 was really good, if they continue from where they stopped I think it definitely is. It's Netflix's bread and butter. IMO blue eye samurai was way more entertaining and had a better story than arcane, arcane was more art than story |

IngeniousLeez: I don't see DUNE PART TWO winning Best Picture or the acting categories but it will be dominant in Best Cinematography, Director, VFX, Makeup, Editing and Costume, Best Score etc. It strengths is in the technical awards. Dune was eliminated from best score |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 1:40pm On Nov 04, 2024 |
IngeniousLeez: CONCLAVE is having increasing shouts to become the best movie judging by recent polls. Somehow to me DUNE Part II don't have enough juice to win Best Picture. Surely will get nominated but that March release puts it farther away from voters consciousness — unless WB kickstarts a mad marketing campaign. Gladiator II has the upper hand here. But still something tells me the prestigious award ain't going to them both. My guess is to either CONCLAVE, ANORA or THE BRUTALIST.
For the acting categories Mikey Madison in ANORA seems to be getting the most shouts alongside Angelina Jolie for MARIA. Ralph Fiennes looks like the overwhelming majority to win the Best Actor, to a lesser extent Adrien Brody too. As for the rest, anything can happen.
Like you said, this season its anything goes unlike last year when it was clear who were the Best Pic, Best Actor and Supporting Actor. Here's VARIETY's predictions below. 👇🏽👇🏽 Totally totally bulls*it. Denis Villeneuve is totally getting best director nomination. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 10:10pm On Nov 03, 2024 |
oyaskii: If Gladiator II dips, "DUNE: Part 2" is the clear favourite to win it imo. I can't explain it, but barely any other movie bar these 2, on that list, has the flair or charisma to be best picture imo.
In hindsight, it might be a free hit season at Best Picture this time around, unlike last year when "Oppie" was the overwhelming favourite, as soon as everyone saw the movie, it instantly clocked, that no other movie was gonna top it 😩, basically game over by 21/7/23, barely half of the movie year gone at that point...see Christopher Nolan is really that Guy 👌🏿.
Come to think of it, i haven't seen any overwhelming individual performances that are pulling clear of the male and female lead cate...i think, it is only Demi Moore that even remotely deserves a shout at this point...This movie year maann...uncanny to say the least. There’s a 5% chance dune wins |

toluxe0075: Michael Jackson movie will do wonders with appropriate marketing. As long as they concentrate on his rise to stardom and avoid dwelling on the controversial part of his life that would push away his fans, billions is certain. Even without marketing, it would definitely make a billion. Abduleez doesn’t understand how insanely popular MJ is. MJ has been popular since the 70s till now I.e old folks, millennials, zoomers are fascinated with his life - for a 7 years old to even know his face is insane. An MJ movie would be an event. Music is so universal just as MJ - his song was pop, rock, dance, country and even r&b

Ishilove: The lead, especially. He has to be able to project a little bit of that star quality that made MJ so unique in his life time. I say "a little bit" because MJ was, and will always be in a class of his own From the news sources I have heard from he looks almost too identical to MJ giving he’s the nephew and the director of the movie is acclaimed- Antoine Fuqua. John Logan - writer of Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo, Penny Dreadful also wrote the movie |

My best musical used to be The Sound of Music but ever since 2014, when i watched Les Miserables (2012), I've never been able to decide which one is No. 1 The only musicals that actually made sense no pass 4 - La la land The sound of music Mamma mia Singin' in the Rain. And that's because they actually had great songs |

oyaskii: Exactly my point...That 75GB is a mirage, a bait to get more people to download the app, they will make damn sure they throttle the speed, so you'd never see the end of that 75GB inside 24hrs 😭.
Now compare that to the speed test from my paid plan from today, still poverty speed but well above the speed i was getting when i was given a supposed "free 75GB" to flex 😐 You must really be a Swiftie to use almost 5gb to download a concert movie |

The 24hrs validity is where the problem lies 😩.. It's like the devil giving you free cap and collecting your head 😩😅....
They have no 5G network, and so i had to make do with their measly 4.5G that looked like it was deliberately slowed down, the day they gave me the data 😭....
Just look at the poverty speed i was getting that day smh...i have only be able to use 40GB max, the 2 times they have given me the data.. Wtf how do you guys download anything? |

abduleez1: Lol, I know he's been in projects. The animations and the others you've mentioned. You've largely ignored the year which is my problem point. All these are 2020 and below.
I no take any L at all. Cos my main talking point about him has been his absence in any movie or show since 2022. Unlike his peers.
You might be right. He might be busy underground. Make I dey wait and observe for him upcoming cooking. His absence since 2022 doesn't make him talentless wtf are you saying? Isn't that just two years. He's a PROPERTY and a BRAND. His name and his style mean something more than just his acting nowadays. Not every director can afford him now. Anyone coming from successful theatre performances is almost always talented |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 8:47pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
abduleez1: You dey talk nonsense. Tom Holland and talent in the same sentence? at best he's decent.
If Tom Holland is talented what are we to call actors like Timothee Chalamet, Jacob Elordi and Paul Mescal his peers
Onward and Spies In Disguise are animation movies and in 2020 I think. Those roles and his voice acting are way similar with his Spiderman role. So what range are you talking about.
Lost City of Z that what anyone talks about is Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson? If not that you mentioned it now I wouldn't even know Holland was in the movie as all references I've seen about this film online has all been linked to Pattinson.
My problem with Holland is not even his acting chops cos I don't even consider him a top talent in any way. It's his long absence from projects. 2022 is the last Tom Holland movie year.....these guys have movies at least from last year to this year. Tom's next film is not expected till 2026. That's 4 whole years of absence. Dude isn't even A-list and he's taking time off. I'm sorry but I don't consider upcoming actors without any body of work for 2+ yrs seriously. This is someone that Disney was promoting and pushing in all their movies back then. So what went wrong.
He might prove me wrong in the future oo and I'll humbly take my L. But for now he's @ss. He is talented as an actor. Just because he hasn’t been in a lot of acting oriented doesn’t make him untalented, you saying that is absurd. Acting in a way that solidifies the role is talent. No one is complaining about his acting in Spiderman because he is very good in the role and that is no easy feat. You actually think if Tom Holland is talentless like you say Nolan would pick him to play a significant role in his next movie?? 🤦🏾♂️ If you've watched his other movies or series other than Spiderman, you'd know he is a really good actor. Check out The Devil all the Time and Crowded Room (it's not a good show but he acted his role to near perfection). And don't you think it's quite unwise to think not acting for 4 years makes you talentless? There are tons of talented actors and actresses who couldn't find a good role that they actually like for even decades actors like John Travolta, Meryl Streep, Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Josh Hartnett, Hillary Swank and even Keanu Reeves all had stints that they didn't work for years - would you consider them talentless too? - Tom Holland is in a place where he can pick which roles he wants and which one he doesn't. Also Tom Holland is an A list actor. Please check what an A list actor is. |

oyaskii: Not even entering plane per say, as they surprisingly nailed the plane scene 100% but the screenplay didn't just work. If they nailed the plane scene. How the hell did they sneak in a gallon of gas into a plane. Do you know the amount of routine checks airplanes go through in every country not to talk of guns? Did they have an insider helping them? If they did, how did this insider get through PSA to even sneak in even a pen to a loaded airplane. Also how did the screenwriters believe it's a smart move to write characters that think an airplane would not be gunned down in another country's airspace if they think it's at risk to affect their own civilians? They may only have nailed the aesthetics of a plane but not its functionality |
