IjeBos: Dynamics changed this year. 2020 was Covid. More Dems took precautionary measures, so less went to the polls and so a lot did early mail in voting. Also Trump and Co. pushed Republicans to vote early and by mail this year. Lastly, their may be some crossover in Republican women voting for Dems.
Too many moving dynamics to be able to look at the Early vote and make any guesses this year. Will have to look at the voter level detail. You're right about moving dynamics. This election will be different from any other, Street the Dems propped up their pawn dumping Biden it's safe to say it'll be a surprising year for the US. Let's see how it goes |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Illusioneffect(m): 3:36am On Nov 05, 2024 |
IjeBos: I understand your sentiment, but let's be honest, If Trump wins, the US will struggle and will be weaker for it domestically and esp. Internationally.
I think a Trump win will see the US lose a lot of Power on the World stage. European countries were very nervous during his last presidency and I think Europe will try to roll more independently as Macron has been talking about since Trump took office.
A 2nd Trump win will be worse for the US than Brexit was for the UK. I understand your sentiment and I believe it's wrong. The US never struggled with international power under Trump. Of course most world leaders hated him because they knew he was tough on them paying their own dues. People forget he defeated ISIS in less than a month - something Obama created and struggled with all through his second term. He signed the Abraham Accords that brought peace in the middle East ensuring no new wars started during his presidency unlike our president right now. Besides, you actually think the US is not losing power already?? Really? The news has decided not to talk about BRICS 👀 looks like in the next 4 years there'll be a lot to talk about them |

ObaIgwe1: Very good!
1. What happened that made the gap close is that a lot of Republicans did not vote by mail in 2020 because Trump told them not to, he called it fraud. But this year Trump encouraged mail in ballot. Many of those Republicans who have sent in their mail in ballots voted on the election day in 2020 so this year, they wont vote tomorrow.
2. In 2020 there was covid so many preferred to vote by mail. This year is different, most Pennsylvanians vote on election day because there is no early voting in PA.
So keep your main analysis till after the election tomorrow. There's early voting in PA and Harris is leading but don't forget she's leading by a very low margin to Biden. Remember Republicans almost always vote by person. So like you say till election night we'll see how it goes. Good luck |

No matter who wins, The United States will prosper IJN. I hope Trump wins but if Harris does she'll be in prayers till she gets crowned in January. Go vote if you can! |

abduleez1: You say wetin?? Where's the stats to back this up. I’m in the United States and I literally know the climate of Hollywood. You definitely won't get roles just because you've voiced your political belief as a Republican. Most actors never identify as Republicans even though they're. I have so many examples that's almost uncountable of actors who have voiced there opinion on Trump and were fired from Hollywood and never got you work again |

pu7pl3: Which one is more star again? Only Florence Pugh can match her range on that list bro. Zendaya, Milly Bobby Brown and the rest except Pugh have more star power than her - most people would watch a movie just because they are involved |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 9:18pm On Nov 04, 2024 |
phr0nesis: Probably one or two of them, and I would just rate them on her level, not better Only Pugh might be the same with her- the rest brings seats to cinemas for example Beetlejuice Beetlejuice |

Baddestguyp: In terms of story, Arcane so far is better than Blue Eye Samurai.
I'm not saying it's an overall better show...but Blue Eye Samurai had a simpler story of revenge...
Arcane on the other hand has multiple stories of several characters which intertwine. Having multiple stories doesn't make a better story. Blue Eye Samurai has a better plot and more humane world building- a story that's complex yet understandable and still different |

It's because of politics, Clint Eastwood just turned out to be a republican. Also, Juror is actually making a lot of money from previews looks like they'll be forced to give it a semi-wide release |

IngeniousLeez: I don't see DUNE PART TWO winning Best Picture or the acting categories but it will be dominant in Best Cinematography, Director, VFX, Makeup, Editing and Costume, Best Score etc. It strengths is in the technical awards. Dune was eliminated from best score |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 1:40pm On Nov 04, 2024 |
IngeniousLeez: CONCLAVE is having increasing shouts to become the best movie judging by recent polls. Somehow to me DUNE Part II don't have enough juice to win Best Picture. Surely will get nominated but that March release puts it farther away from voters consciousness — unless WB kickstarts a mad marketing campaign. Gladiator II has the upper hand here. But still something tells me the prestigious award ain't going to them both. My guess is to either CONCLAVE, ANORA or THE BRUTALIST.
For the acting categories Mikey Madison in ANORA seems to be getting the most shouts alongside Angelina Jolie for MARIA. Ralph Fiennes looks like the overwhelming majority to win the Best Actor, to a lesser extent Adrien Brody too. As for the rest, anything can happen.
Like you said, this season its anything goes unlike last year when it was clear who were the Best Pic, Best Actor and Supporting Actor. Here's VARIETY's predictions below. 👇🏽👇🏽 Totally totally bulls*it. Denis Villeneuve is totally getting best director nomination. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 10:10pm On Nov 03, 2024 |
oyaskii: If Gladiator II dips, "DUNE: Part 2" is the clear favourite to win it imo. I can't explain it, but barely any other movie bar these 2, on that list, has the flair or charisma to be best picture imo.
In hindsight, it might be a free hit season at Best Picture this time around, unlike last year when "Oppie" was the overwhelming favourite, as soon as everyone saw the movie, it instantly clocked, that no other movie was gonna top it 😩, basically game over by 21/7/23, barely half of the movie year gone at that point...see Christopher Nolan is really that Guy 👌🏿.
Come to think of it, i haven't seen any overwhelming individual performances that are pulling clear of the male and female lead cate...i think, it is only Demi Moore that even remotely deserves a shout at this point...This movie year maann...uncanny to say the least. There’s a 5% chance dune wins |

toluxe0075: Michael Jackson movie will do wonders with appropriate marketing. As long as they concentrate on his rise to stardom and avoid dwelling on the controversial part of his life that would push away his fans, billions is certain. Even without marketing, it would definitely make a billion. Abduleez doesn’t understand how insanely popular MJ is. MJ has been popular since the 70s till now I.e old folks, millennials, zoomers are fascinated with his life - for a 7 years old to even know his face is insane. An MJ movie would be an event. Music is so universal just as MJ - his song was pop, rock, dance, country and even r&b

Ishilove: The lead, especially. He has to be able to project a little bit of that star quality that made MJ so unique in his life time. I say "a little bit" because MJ was, and will always be in a class of his own From the news sources I have heard from he looks almost too identical to MJ giving he’s the nephew and the director of the movie is acclaimed- Antoine Fuqua. John Logan - writer of Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo, Penny Dreadful also wrote the movie |

abduleez1: Multi billion dollars?? 🧐🤔
Let's see. I highly doubt it might do a billion but I can't bet against MJ. 🤷🏽♂️ You're not serious right? Bohemian Rhapsody about the story of Queen - who's more of an American celebrity made almost 900 million dollars, you think a Michael Jackson movie won't make more than 1.5 billion dollars?👀 |

Kaycee7: Only one I've solidly watched here is Sister Act. I've never been able to watch Mamma Mia from start to finish. I must either be interrupted or not start from beginning. In the Heights is on my watchlist.
My best musical used to be The Sound of Music but ever since 2014, when i watched Les Miserables (2012), I've never been able to decide which one is No. 1 The only musicals that actually made sense no pass 4 - La la land The sound of music Mamma mia Singin' in the Rain. And that's because they actually had great songs |
