Debonairs-yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ ilurveit Where's Manuela?

ilurveit:

Manuela's. It's like an Italian guesthouse/eatery. It's on Taslim Elias Close in V/I off Ahmadu Bello Way.

Food / Re: What Is Your Favorite Alcoholic Drink? by ilurveit(f): 2:44am On Nov 06, 2011
I'm not alcohol's hugest fan but if I had to choose, I'd pick a glass of white wine, if available, a Riesling, which is on the sweet side and doesn't taste as alcohol-y.
Food / Re: Pizza In Nigeria by ilurveit(f): 2:16am On Nov 06, 2011
The best and most authentic pizza I've had in Nigeria (and I've tried quite a few including Frenchies-used to be good not anymore, Debonairs- their pizza sauce is yucky, st. elmo's- meh, Double 4- just ok) is from Manuela's. It's like an Italian guesthouse/eatery (well there are 2 restaurants there so maybe eateries) and their pizza is amazing and tastes like real Italian pizza. It's on Taslim Elias Close in V/I off Ahmadu Bello Way.

However Cactus' pizza (on Ozumba Mbadiwe) is also alright and like Debonair's they deliver, if you're after that convenience. AND they taste a million times better than Debonairs.
Travel / Re: Is Old Mrp Passport Still A Valid Identification by ilurveit(f): 1:53am On Nov 06, 2011
Thanks everyone for all the responses! So here's the update on what happened:

I went with my e-passport AND the people gave me issues and a lot of attitude. They were like "we don't take that passport anymore." So I told them that the NIS (I don't even know if that's who's in charge of these matters but I sha said it with confidence) had extended the validity period till the end of this year and they still gave me attitude saying "ehn that is the NIS's business and that as for them, they only recognize E-passport."

Mchewww! Imagine!!! In my mind I was totally like "who you be sef?!" But in reality, I turned on the water works and resorted to good old-fashioned begging. Am I proud of myself? No! It was embarrassing, but I still took my exam in the end and that's what counts.

So, in summary, maybe don't wait till last minute like I did/plan better AND find out in advance from the source what is acceptable or not. Otherwise be prepared to cry and look a little foolish.

Travel / Is Old Mrp Passport Still A Valid Identification by ilurveit(f): 6:47pm On Oct 24, 2011
Ok this is not really a travel question but it is related to the old Nigerian passport.

I have an exam coming up day after tomorrow for which I've been told the only allowable ID I can use is my passport. (No Driver's license, National ID etc). However, I don't currently have my E-passport with me as it's at an embassy being processed for a visa. I DO have my old (MRP) passport which doesn't expire till next year. I'm wondering if that's still acceptable as a valid form of identification in this country or has it been phased out?

Uti is foine! but his personal hygiene leaves A LOT to be desired. Ahn ahn. . . Saying that he wears one pair of jeans 10 times before washing, and saying that it's metrosexual for guys to wear underwear only once before washing. . . I mean even if you really do that, you don't say it like that nah.

Romance / Re: No Money : No Love, What Is Your Opinion by ilurveit(f): 7:53pm On Nov 25, 2008
iice:

No money: No love.

There is love, but man cannot live by love alone.

I agree but only if there's no money compounded by no prospects. Eventually money arguments will eat away at the love that was there. I would date someone who didn't have money, but he had to have prospects or like ambition and a plan.

I wouldn't say I'm attracted to money, I find a guy who is ambitious and who know what he wants out of life more attractive. I'm not one who needs the money to be there right now, I don't mind working with my guy so we can build wealth together. Everyone must start from somewhere.

But he can't just be chilling and not even trying at all or have no prospects or plans. I'm really ambitious and my guy has to match me so please no monkey dey work, baboon dey chop ish for me. There must be a plan.
Romance / Re: Why Do You Think Over %70 Of Black Ladies In America Are Single? by ilurveit(f): 8:24pm On Nov 19, 2008
This may be anti-feministic of me but I actually really do believe that women should submit to their husbands.

I don't think submitting to your husband means that you shouldn't have a voice or speak your mind or voice your opinions, or that you should be trampled on, I think it means that you need to be respectful and do the things that are necessary to make him happy and I really do think there's empowerment in that. And I think if you're in love, then it's not a big thing to submit to doing the things your husband wants, because there's no place for pride in true love.

HOWEVER, I also believe that men should love their wives more than they love themselves. To me that means that her happiness, wellness, and even her life takes priority over yours. It is your duty to see that she is happy and that she can be herself in the relationship. You are the guardian of her heart and soul and if she trusts you enough to submit them to you, it's a privilege and an honor and it's your duty not to fcku things up, basically. This means that knowing the woman you married, you don't consistently force her to do things that don't make her happy and you don't stifle her spirit, and you respect her as a person enough not to put her down or demean her in the name of submission. Submission is a gift, it means she surrenders something important to you, it doesn't mean she's your doormat.
Romance / Re: When Your Partner Denies You Publicly. by ilurveit(f): 7:58pm On Nov 19, 2008
Cut him off one time. After all, you're only like "vague friends," y'know.  You don't know each other "that well, just well enough to escort him places." Drop him jare. There's no excuse. It would have been better if he had not qualified the relationship and just introduced you guys with names only (as Sauron suggested) even though that's really shady too.
Romance / Re: Strench Behaviour Please Advice by ilurveit(f): 7:41pm On Nov 19, 2008
It may be one of several things:

1.) He's not over your argument from days ago.
2.) Something else is going on with him that he's not yet ready to share.
3.) He's angry with you over something.
4.) He doesn't want to be in the relationship.
5.) He's feeling guilty over something he's done.
6.) You may just be feeling a little over-sensitive and insecure because of your argument from before.

Romance / Re: What We U So If Ur Boy Friend Is To Harsh? by ilurveit(f): 7:28pm On Nov 19, 2008
Maybe your guy is a good guy. Maybe he's loving in other ways, that you haven't explained here. We don't know your relationship, i understand that, and I'm sure you have your reasons for loving him.

However, please please please, look at yourself and look at him. With all likelihood you're smaller than him and he can really hurt you physically if he loses control. It's not so much whether he loves you or not, or whether he's sorry afterwards or not. The point is that he doesn't have self-control and one day he can beat you up very badly to death even just because he's out of control only to regret it later.

You need to look after yourself and consider your personal safety. Maybe your temperaments are not compatible and maybe you both need partners who have a calming effect on you. When someone hits you, it's a sign that they don't have control and when that's someone that could seriously hurt you, you need to love yourself and them enough to get out of that situation before you put yourself or your partner in trouble.

Romance / Re: Is Maintaining Her Viginity A Crime? by ilurveit(f): 7:58am On Nov 18, 2008
Your friend and her guy obviously want different things out of their relationship. She shouldn't at all allow him to pressure her into having sex if she doesn't want to. Also, she shouldn't just chill while he does what he wants for 5yrs before he may or may not decide to get together with her after that time. I think she should move on and stop letting this guy put so much pressure and stress on her. Virginity is not a crime at all. She should join the club, we're many even though many are also hiding so people don't think they're too naive. She should look for someone who will respect her and her decisions.

Fox river:

I dated ma girlfriend for 5yrs witout sex n i don't know d colour of her pant.I try forcein her n i found she had not known a man.I was surprice(she told me that she had slep wit any guy,i didnt believe her) later we broke up because i started seein another girl because anytime i ask 4 sex i know she wil not give me.We stop seein each other n she kept sentin msg that she is goin 2 kill me,after 2yrs she called me that she want 2 come back. Wot do i do?Should i take her back, If she is disflower am not goin 2 take her back. Ma adivse 2 u is that,if u r not ready don't do!

Wait what?!? That is absolutely shocking!!! shocked Please o don't force anyone. That's not ok at all.

Dark_Rxn:

Man: I'm sorry, she came after me. I didn't know what was going on

A week later he calls her back and tells her she's the only one he loves. She forgives him and it happens again. Why?

I HATE the line in Bold. It's like how did you not know what was going on. Like at what point of your pants dropping etc did you not realize that "oh my pants shouldn't be falling with this chick and I shouldn't be in this situation." And then after it's like I'm sorry, I love you as if that it makes it ok. It's so bogus and it's so insulting and it's like Ladies why? why? He doesn't love you. Like why would you love someone who doesn't respect you and isn't good for you and makes you cry?

Like once the love stuff starts spouting, I'm always very wary. I don't want to hear it just like that. Because I should see it before I hear it. Like I should know before it's said, because to me its more than words. I think we women should respect ourselves and know out worth and not stick with emotional abusers who are full of love talk but don't ever show it.

stillwater:

. . . because they love the men. embarassed

I think it might have more to do with self-esteem issues and/or fear of being single and having no one. Because unless it's like a psychological problem, it's unnatural to remain in a situation that causes you pain.
Romance / Re: What Is The Probability That He Wont Dump You! by ilurveit(f): 7:33am On Nov 18, 2008
Personally, i wouldn't do that. But then all these long engagements and vague arrangements are not really my thing. I wouldn't do a marriage introduction unless I was ready to marry within the year. And I wouldn't move in with someone unless we were getting married like tomorrow, not at some vague point in the future.

But again only you know your guy and your relationship and you have to decide for yourself whether you trust this arrangement and whether it's something you want for yourself, and not just because it's what your guy wants.
Romance / Re: Should I Relate My Health Problems To Her Beffore The Wedding? by ilurveit(f): 7:21am On Nov 18, 2008
I think it's hard to talk about sensitive personal health problems with a partner because of the fear of rejection but it's necessary, because better they reject you before marriage, than afterwards, if rejection is going to occur. Honesty is the best policy and it will come out one day anyway so it's better to just get it over with.
chamotex:

Now the chances of that happening is very slim!

You wouldn't want to marry someone who is HIV positive, would you?

People that had their marriages cancelled one way or the other before their wedding were also in love aswel.

Promoting stigma, eh? I think of course it's no one's dream to be HIV+ or to marry someone who is, but there are amazing people who do because of love and history and other reasons that are not easily understandable, and there is life with HIV; it doesn't have to be a death sentence. No but it's true, there needs to be full disclosure. You can't take the decision out of your partner's hands.

@ H202,

Oh you wanted my attention?!? Why didn't you just say so? You should have just asked, y'know, there was no need to be mean to get it. It wasn't nice, it was very juvenile and primary school. The being mean to the girls to get their attention. <shakes head> Come on, we're older than that, no?

You did get my attention though, so good on you, but I have to admit, it wasn't really undivided; I was also responding to chamotex and posting on other threads. However, if you had just asked and been polite, maybe it could have been undivided, no? maybe?

Thank you again for your empathy and your charm. Good luck with everything and have a good week.

@H202

What horn is there to toot? I don't toot my horn. I'm not that kind of person at all and I don't know how that fits in with anything that was said. I thought it was funny that's all. It's like after you've yapped me and my opinions finish, it's like total 180 and it's like why? You always choose to be really abrasive and really (for want of a better word) "pratty" on NL and this is just in general and I think it's interesting. Your empathy didn't really come across though through the personal attacks and insults and so I'm sorry I missed that.  But anyway, seriously though, I'm sure in your real life, you're a good person and more power to you.

I'm not saying I can't be played, of course I can be played, anyone can be played, I'm just saying I pick up on games really quickly and once they've been played, they've been played!

@ chamotex

Man come on, the game was little. It was cute though.

Aw I'm sorry. How can I make this up to you embarassed

There's nothing to make up. I'm already procrastinating by being on NL, I don't want to waste this special procratination time by going round over the same circular argument with you about something that doesn't really matter anyway. We've both stated our points. We disagree. It's fine to do so, y'know.

@ chamotex when you said: Sorry for what? Make up what?  so that was ur plan all along cheesy

Look at you outing your friend's little game. wink

@H202 when you said: lol.  guy's gotta do what he has to do.

Does he? Does he, indeed? That's cute. smiley

Romance / Re: Her Mum Says She Has The Right To Cheat On Me by ilurveit(f): 11:58pm On Nov 16, 2008
Your relationship seems a little dysfunctional to me from what you've said. Like why are you with a girl who repeatedly cheats on you? Why are you not using protection with a girl who repeatedly cheats on you (she's been pregnant 2ce)? Why does this seem to you like a relationship you want to continue in when neither your girl nor her mother respects you?

Her mother will only treat you with the amount of respect you show her that you deserve to be treated with. And wanting to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't seem to respect you and moreso whose mother doesn't seem to respect you, doesn't command much respect and moreover doesn't seem healthy. I think you need to re-evaluate yourself and examine your own self-respect and what you really want out of life and what is good and healthy for you.

Stop preaching to me and stop being semantical. It doesn't work with me. Anger management koh, fufu deliverance ni. I didn't say one sin is greater than another. I said, unlike you, I don't turn a blind eye to nonsense when I can stand against it. How is that being judgmental? You have a voice, but if you don't prefer using your voice don't blast others for using theirs.

Ok.

H2O2:

At first I was going to tell you to shut up, but now I just realised that you're one of those people who condone the "leave it alone" speech, all in the name of "not judging people" . That leave it alone attitude is the reason homos are now forcing people to accept them as normal people.
It's your duty as a good Nigerian woman to promote good virtue, and to be critical of amoral behaviors when you see them. Stop trying to coerce me into thinking like you.

But . . . I still like you wink

You're very funny. I don't why you're soo quick to abuse though. Like do you have impulse/anger management issues You need to deal with that. Point being like one sin isn't better than the other. If you read NL, lots of pple (guys and girls) claim to be doing pretty much the same thing as these girls only they're not putting themselves on blast on Youtube. I think its hard to find the balance between being judgemental and being like this is right or wrong. I don't think what they're doing is right, but again it's not my place to judge them either way or to force my way down their throat. The only thing I can do is choose not to live my life like that. However, it's kind of laughable to see some NL pple saying this and that about these girls when all the time they're kind of doing the same thing.
Romance / Re: Please I Need U Guys Advice by ilurveit(f): 11:29pm On Nov 16, 2008
You're making yourself too available. She can't have it both ways. Either she likes her guy better or she likes you better. Either she needs to make a decision. Like you should back off on the relationship talk and just continue with her as a friend. She knows you're interested. If she's interested also, she'll break up with her guy and then start with you. Because it seems like it's one of 2 things now. Either she only likes you as a friend, or she's flattered by the interest of 2 guys. You should expect more for yourself than to be somebody else's "other guy." If she doesn't want to make the decision, move on. Plenty of other fish in the sea etc.

I'm not discussing my toto with you or on NL, I think I'm worth more than that. I know who and what I am and am not so your comment is kind of funny. Totally expected from you based on your typical cracked out NL posts. All I was saying is, who is anyone to judge? Is a liar better than a prostitute? We're all the same. We all have to try and live with what we do. As in let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Of course my first instinct is like shock and horror but then again, it's like y'know let them live and learn. It's not like I'm the best person on earth in other ways than these girls. I mean ok I'm not selling myself and ok I don't choose to put my personal life on blast on youtube. If you live your life right guys and girls, nothing they do should be hurting you.
Romance / Re: Unilag Girls Or Prostitutes! U Decide by ilurveit(f): 10:52pm On Nov 16, 2008
I think if these girls are content doing what they're doing and they can live with themselves, then who's anyone to judge, really? Personally I think it's sad the way things are and it may not roll with what I think is right, but it's not as if they're saying you should pay the gold or that other girls should join them. Abeg people should let them be.
