Buhari has not and will probably never forgive IBB for this. Funny thing is that all the past leaders and present think that they did what was best for Nigeria. Even Abacha sends us some cash once in a while. Apparently, God didn't answer that anthem prayer to guide our leaders right, or help our youths know the truth. |

LordReed: Soft drinks and water are not the same. People need water, they don't need soft drinks. You are not in a culture that celebrates Harry Potter that's why you think it doesn't compare.
Jesus allegedly making himself a comparison to water means nothing. That fact that billions of people have lived and continue to live without him shows he is not needed. i have consistently stated that people need God or a god, meaning that through the thousands of years and billions of humans, people always find God or a god to worship. All over the world, humans find a need to devote worship to something or someone to be "fulfilled". This will continue forever because humans are made to worship. Up to you to worship the true God/Jesus. All over the world, billions of people take drinks for refreshing, maybe water or tea, or soft drinks, or coffee, or other drinks. You don't need a culture to drink something for refreshing. Harry Potter doesn't compare, even its actors and directors probably don't care to watch it every year. Same can't be said for the universality of drinking or worship. Tomorrow is Sunday again, billions are going to drink and worship. No one cares about the few thousands that'll probably watch or read Harry Potter and drop it forever like i did probably over a decade ago. |

DeepSightZ: Where?
It doesnt say so.
It says "privileges of GCFR" and not "privileges of ex president."
You are the one assuming that since the rank has only been given to ex presidents, then its privileges are the same as those of ex presidents.
If they were the same, then MKO's name and picture will be in every list or line up of ex presidents of Nigeria. Okay oh. |

LordReed: Exactly, no one needs a god just like no one needs Harry Porter. It's also like soft drinks, no one needs soft drinks but we consume billions of litres of it annually. No one needs God or a god but billions continue to find God or a god, let's face the reality. People need soft drinks because of refreshment of the human body and the need to take a drink. It's wrong to say no one needs soft drinks, the data says otherwise. i've heard of and met people who cannot do with drinking something, either tea, coffee, soft drinks or just plain water. Harry Potter cannot walk that line. Little wonder Jesus compared Himself to water and the Rock that gives water. |

Iceberg3: Very convenient for you living your lives based on assumptions that suits your narrative and I am very sure that you've even assumed in your mind that I am Igbo.
Whenever circumstances makes us bring up 2014 and GEJ up,you are always quick to tag us Igbos and that the Niger Deltans have moved on but we can't help but why you people cannot just do same!!! How on earth can you say let bygones be bygones and you are still adding petrol to fire!!!!!!
And again Nigerians had issues other than this to tackle in the 1980s and 1990s and early 2000 but all of a sudden power went to the SS and from then till now,you people suddenly remembered that the Igbos are your problems in life!!!!!!
I really smh i really don't understand these lamentations and tribal diatribe. i showed that IBB DID NOT debunk any Igbo coup narrative. It is a LIE to say that IBB debunked it and i attached the proof from his book. You refused to read it but claimed you have far more important and better things to do with life. It's more important for you to believe a lie? Or what are you doing on NL and opening the thread reading through people's government since your life is so important to care? i did not say anything about Igbos in the post, i simply said the truth that Rufai(a non-Igbo i think) is lying about IBB(a non-Igbo). |

DeepSightZ: Yinka is dead and secondly PMB only posthumously awarded MKO GCFR. He did not recognize him as a former president which is what the writer is asking (and I support). Sorry i mixed up the name. GCFR stands for "Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic," which is the highest national honorary award in Nigeria, exclusively conferred on presidents. The certificate in the below link clearly shows that he enjoys all the privileges of a GCFR. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/06/buhari-formally-confers-gcfr-abiola/ |

MakindeHassan: You people are obsessed with this narrative. Let it rest.
For the coup to be an Igbo coup, there would have had to be a plan and connivance with Igbo leaders and civilians. There was no such plan and Igbos woke up to the news like everyone else.
It is important to note that even Ojukwu and Ironsi were not carried along and played important roles on squashing the coup. Ojukwu called Nzeogwu several times from Kano ordering him to stand down.
You also have to look into Nzeogwu’s personal character and read about him. He saw himself as a revolutionary and had this hot headed character that didn’t take instructions too well. He even continued to carry out daring unauthorized ambushes during the war which ultimately led to him being killed.
In Obasanjo’s book he mentioned that Nzeogwu tried to convince him to join the coup a year earlier. Nzeogwu and Obasanjo were close friends. Obasanjo brushed it off and declined. If it was an Igbo affair why would he be recruiting non Igbos.
Apart from the majors, it has been established that more officers were involved. More officers of other ethnic extraction but our selective history will only focus on one segment.
Let’s be fair to the Igbos abeg and move on from this rubbish. Germany and Britain almost blew themselves off the planet in world war two but have moved on and working together. You don’t see them trading blames and focused on the past but black man in Nigeria cannot move on and progress from something that happened in 1967 and you all wonder why we are backward. If you read me carefully, i simply showed that IBB didn't debunk anything and was not in a position to. i can't help you if you cannot see this. |

PHIPEX: You questioned the reasonableness of a 25yeard old soldier to give an account of a coup. When Gowon was just 32 at the Head of state so stop twisting it.
He stated his age but you questioned his sense of judgement i never questioned the reasonableness, i simply stated his age because he referred to it himself. He said "I admit that my position here may be the naive insights of an unsuspecting young officer who viewed events from a distance!" naive unsuspecting young distance i quote these words directly from ibb. |

How old were those who carried out the coup at the time? For God's sake, can't you read? i did not say it! The man said it himself in his book. i attached it but you probably did not care to read. Somehow, i cannot attach images again but you can check it again on my post that you quoted. Or get the IBB book(SMH). It is on page 40 and i quote again. tctrills: A 25 years old officer who lived the experience and eventually rose to become the head of the army.
These are far beyond the views of a 25 years old kid. It's the view of one of the last remaining men who experienced everything, spoke and learnt from many who were involved one way or the other. His experience is just too much to be seen as the views of a 25 years old kid. Again, how old were all the other major military actors in the 60s. Lastly, we can finally get an unbiased narrative after almost 60 years. Did you read the slide that i posted from the book at all? He himself said it. Page 40 of his book says and i quote "I admit that my position here may be the naive insights of an unsuspecting young officer who viewed events from a distance!" |
