So you actually believe these palliative will get to poor people like u said?
Bring up a better and workable idea. The FG cannot by-pass the state governments and local governments or continue to wait forever for all things to be perfect. They tried disbursing 8k earlier, there was an outcry. Now this. It's going to 3 months since subsidy was removed, the opposition cry the most about palliatives, once they are bringing out palliatives, you cry no, without any better arguement.

How are sure u will get anything from this palliative?
Fortunately for me and you, we don't need the palliatives and i will never need palliatives in form of food and monies meant for the poor and downtrodden.
The palliatives we need and will get are better roads, better jobs, better education, better electricity, better healthcare, ability to afford anything and everything in any part of the world. That's the summary of the hope. Better start praying for the government to work and succeed, else you continue struggling for palliatives all your life.

Nothing can please everyone. Criticize constructively with superior solutions, not just to show you are in opposition. We can all see how opposition are governing in their different states. They've not shown anything new when given the opportunity. Anyone can criticize Ronaldo and Messi and suggest how they could have done it better. Na to come out do the things, not to use mouth to drive trailer.

What a foolish thing to think. Africa is blessed beyond other continents. If they give you 500trillion, we will still be behind them and we still know the people that will chop it, clean mouth and use it to buy mansions and cars all over the world. What we need is change of attitude to change ourselves, not apologies and schemes to get dollars.

He's Tinubu's right hand man and seems to think like Tinubu in a way. Tinubu wants to make money from that ministry. We keep saying Nigeria is blessed with resources but we only see the blessing in oil. It's time to try to see the blessing in gas and in other resources. Tinubu wants to make incredulous money for Nigeria and probably for himself like he did Lagos format.
i expect Alake to do well, it's an administrative/supervisory role, not technical.

Christianity Etc › Re: If The Kingdom Of God Is Within Me, Which Other Heaven Do Churches Preach? by Image123(m): 9:13pm On Aug 16, 2023
litigator:
" Knowest ye not that the Kingdom of Heaven is within thee?"

"Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

Luke 17:21

Well, this is the new I sha. I am still not a Christain. But I believe I am now born again, and I have this new spirit within me that is the spirit of God, and this presupposes that the Kingdom of God is within me.

Learnt this from a book authored by Robert Collier, " the secret of the Ages". He made loads of references to the Bible and other books, and I had to do some research. I recalled Bishop David Oyedepo had mentioned something like this before now in some of his older books I read that didn't mean so much to me at that time.

It was like I was reading a novel for the sake of knowledge and nothing more. But looking back, I can't help but ask.

But wait fess. This matter nor clear abeg!

If this kingdom dey inside me, why many churches come still dey preach about one kingdom wen dem dey package us to go after our time on earth?

Jehovah's Witnesses say that is no resurrection after death. We simply die, and that is it. I have read loads of materials authored by them, and they are the only sect of preachers that do discuss the Bible with you like you are in a class. I give that to them.

They were the first sect of believers that made the Bible an interesting book to me. Well! That is about that. Now back to my story.

So, what do you think?

If there is already a kingdom within us that has guaranteed us all we need on earth if we are able to look inwards, why do churches and religion teach us to look outside of us for a kingdom that is to come?

I am just a young bible student who needs some Biblical education.

Shalom.
Context is key. Jesus was talking to a people who eternally placed their hopes in the future when the 'Messiah" will come, and did/do almost nothing but routine till then. Jesus told them, get up and work, don't keep waiting till kingdom come.

Luk 17:20  And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

BTW, you cannot be born again and not be a follower of Jesus Christ(Christian). If any man be IN Christ, he is born again.

The famous Lord's prayer teaches us to pray for God's kingdom to come.
Mat_6:10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

So evidently, there is a kingdom to come that wasn't there at the time of the disciples. Nonetheless, we as followers of the King of the kingdom can receive some dose of the powers of the world/kingdom to come.

Heb_6:5  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

So quit waiting on fate and on the kingdom to come without doing anything, the kingdom is right there. We are not just going to be saints in Heaven, we can be saints right here. We can have God's presence, power and glory right here in good dosage.

yeah you right cuz a pound came down from 1182 to 1130 this afternoon
this is a temporary measure cuz we don't produce for export to keep it stable
It hopefully should be permanent and should go further down to like 600 which is around the real rates for dollars. These current rates are speculation(round tripping) driven, not demand driven.

Eriokanmi:
Rescuing currency with usd isn't only a Nigerian practice. It's done in all dollar-driven economies globally. The onus is on the leader of that country to monitor the disbursement and place a heavy sanction on erring agencies or banks. Across Europe, there's an agency called Travelex. There are others too who act like the bureau de change and sell fx to those who need them. I've bought usd and euro from Travelex in France, Germany and Switzerland in the past at their airports, Dubai too. There was a time they came to Nigeria.

But here, corruption may not allow this to work effectively but in a way, it would strengthen the naira. The federal government should reach out to registered bdc as they did in the past when the pdp was in power and allocate fx to them for sale to the public and monitor compliance. There was a time in this country when usd was almost same in rates both at the official and parallel markets. It was because bdcs were allocated fx constantly. Doing this will strengthen the naira and put less pressure on it. I hope the dollar crashes further cos I've got loads of fx transactions to make. I've been waiting since June.
We've been rescuing our currency with USD for decades and it has not worked much, plus we currently do not have the money(looking at the national reserves and government debt plus CBN freshly revealed debts). Tinubu will definitely put sanctions, he's already working on it. Monitoring the BDCs will work, no need to allocate anything. All our allocations no work, the BDC operators and banks now have large stomach. The removal of subsidy has greatly reduced pressure on the naira. It is now mostly speculation driven, not really demand, and that's what the government needs to work at. More powerful "speculators" than you should probably be shot as a deterrent to others(if it happened to a couple of them under a dictator, everyone will sit up). I would have said jailed/prosecuted, but our laws are too weak for the rich man and our main speculators would just play ping-pong with court cases and cost money. We operate a democracy though, so we all must be patient.

I'm not a fan of Tinubu and his visionless apc party but I bought dollar at 810 at Allen avenue around 4pm yesterday. I hope it crashes further because it will favour us the more.

These speculators are the problem of the fx market..what Tinubu should do is pump more dollars to stabilise naira, if he has the balls to do so. Western policy introduced is killing Nigerian economy.
He's such a visionless leader . What the Nigerian economy is going through right now is as a result of dictates from the west.
Pumping dollars doesn't work. We have powerful people ready to mop up the flood of dollars. They work with the banks and BDCs and are not tired of the huge easy gains on round tripping.

This thing keeps happening, and sadly this will not be the last case as its a cyclical paradox sad , Why this battle for a God we know nothing about , we did not learn about pain! If you get a new born infant and toss it into a pan of hot grandnut oil , we all can imagine what would happen ? So why is the knowledge of the love or existence of One True God be Learned? We clearly didn't learn about pain did we, but a God who did create "Heaven" and "Earth", knew us before we were "born" , we should at least has a sort of decorum at this point on who he look likes and the religion he "listens" to .

How do the banks make dollars scarce and make it available to their customer BDCs?

Are you a witness to such?
Do you have proof against such? Banks make it almost impossible for the people to withdraw forex. They also encourage you to go to BDCs, an there's usually some BDC guys/girls close by in the banking hall that they refer people to.

I thought Tinubus new forex policy was supposed to take care of all these?
Having same forex rates in the country is not Tinubu's forex policy, it is the normal thing all over the world. Like i said, Nigerians are not normal.

How is it now different from the previous forex regime?
The difference is that the Naira is been FLOATED, not "defended". That is the normal thing in most economies around the world. The governments don't "defend" their currency and run different rates that encourage round tripping. Forex rates are normally determined by market forces of supply and demand. Other factors are Inflation, Interest rates, political stability, confidence and speculation. In Nigeria, it is more of greedy speculation. Just to make gain at the detriment of others, BDCs continue to raise the price to maintain parallel market and the huge gains they have been enjoying. Even Ukraine and countries hit by war and disasters don't trade that way.

If Nigerians need high-handedness, what does the govt need? Pampering?
Hopefully, the FG should be strict against this sabotage no matter the outcry. That's one of the problem with democracy though, but we go manage am and overcome by God's grace.
You seem to lack the basic knowledge of what law and order entails. Go to your state governor's office to sow him some high handedness since you seem incapable of thinking.

She won't ever recover. My parents 'died' after my siblings died in a plane crash. It's almost twenty years later, and they still aren't themselves.
She can. Job recovered, Kumuyi recovered from the death of his wife Adeboye recovered from the death of his son. It takes total trust in God and belief. It's painful but possible. Someone who truly and thoroughly believes that the lost one is sleeping and will be met at the resurrection will recover faster. The problem for the Christian in grief is usually if the loved one died as a sinner, or if the person grieving feels God disappointed him/her in some way. Death is inevitable, like Heaven and hell.

The death came to us with deep sorrow and pain. I have tried to move on even though it's difficult. I still cry every day secretly but my biggest concern right now is how to get my mother to move on. She has remain unconsolable as every morning I could hear her cries as early as 4.00am daily. I had to be with her in her room talking to her.

Soon, I will be travelling and I am worried she may never find any reason to be happy.

I have spoken to her in my little wisdom and don't even know what else to be telling her.

I need our advice please on how better to handle this and what can be done to effectively help the situation
Sorry about your pain. She needs to totally hope in God the giver of life and submit all things to Him. Sorry again and may God comfort you all.

I think the people in Government are not just ready to fight corruption yet. Maybe because they are benefiting from it. The oil imports and this dollars rate is one of the biggest factors affecting the economy of this country
The banks have a major fault here, not the FG as it seems. Nigeria is not a normal place and normal laws and economics don't work here like other places. Banks try to make dollars scarce to the people and make it available to their customer BDCs. The round tripping needs to be arrested.
The problem is that Nigerians need high handedness, and any high handedness employed by the government will meet with backlash.
