The difference is this.
In science and medicine, they have been studied and we have high success rates. Lemme give example, if I give ACT for 10 patients and only 1 gets cured of malaria, then its deemed failure. And there would be research on why there was treatment failure, better drugs would be researched on to take the place of ACT. That's science.
Another example, if I do appendectomy on a patient with suspected acute appendicitis, and he reports 1 month later with right iliac fossa tenderness. That's a treatment failure. And the patient is re-investigated til a final diagnosis is made. If a diagnosis isn't made, he is referred to a higher center.
Notice in these scenarios, there are procedures and due processes.
If I had a dream and it never comes to pass, what do I do? Is there a mechanism to determine why the dream didn’t come true?
If I keep on dreaming thousands of dreams and only one comes true, would I say dreams come true? Compare it to if I keep on treating 1000 salmonellosis cases with quinolones, and only one gets treated.

i did not say that they were the same, did i? FOCUS. They both have room for failure. Failure does not mean that any should be dismissed.

Science, physical processes, clinical surgeries, stocks and trade all fail. Their failure doesn't make them useless or meaningless. Saying some dreams fail,hence dismiss all dreams is fallacious. Get the simple one line point into your head before roaming around aimlessly.

I do not think dreams are some kind of supernatural occurrence. It is obvious that our consciousness is a complex mechanism and is yet to be fully investigated as to all its nitty gritty but twhat we know so far puts it's operations firmly in the natural.

In my opinion dreams are like predictions with heightened or lowered probabilities for occurrence in real life depending on the elements within the dream. If you dream that you grew wings and flew like a bird you know the possibility of that happening is essentially zero but if you dream that someone gives you dollars the possibility is higher than zero. In essence there is nothing special happening in dreams.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Two things are suspect from her end though hopefully your end is clean/clear as this is a one sided story.
One, it's possible she had an unpleasant sex experience in Italy that changed her attitude to sex. You may want to check that out.
