PhonesMobile Number Portability For GSM Operators In Nigeria. Question & Answer by Imeobong(op): 11:21pm On May 05, 2013
Mobile number portability has finally been launched in Nigeria. With the network operators battling each other in commercials to showcase their readiness for rollout, each network tries to convince you that they are the best and you need to port to their own network. However, they do not address the vital issues on ground that Nigerians need answers to as far as mobile number portability in Nigeria is concerned. For example, how to you implement porting? what time of the day can you port? where do you go to port? what happens to your sms, internet, mms and other ancillary settings when you port? how much does it cost to port? how do you confirm the number you want to port is yours? what kind of numbers can be ported? what kind of numbers can be ported?, etc.

These are questions that Nigerians want answers to. SUCCESSSECRETS is all about your success so we took time to get all the necessary information from the Nigerian communications commission and present it to you. The video here answers and explains what you should know about mobile number portability in Nigeria. It addresses the how and the why with common examples in plain language that will be easy for everybody to understand. Watch it and share it. Enjoy mobile number portability in Nigeria!!!
Questions and comments for improvement are welcome.
SOME QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS IN THE VIDEO (VIDEO HAS MORE EXPLANATIONS)

1 What is “Mobile Number Portability”?
Mobile Number Portability is a service that enables you to keep
your mobile phone number when changing from one mobile
service provider to another. So, if you switch between service
providers, you do not have to go through the trouble of informing
all your friends, family, colleagues and other contacts because your
number stays the same.
2 Who can use the system?
Mobile Number Portability is available to both “Pre‐Paid” (Pay As
You Go) and “Post‐Paid” mobile customers in Nigeria.
3 Who can provide this service?
Mobile Number Portability will initially be available among the
GSM mobile operators: MTN, GLOBACOM, ETISALAT, and AIRTEL.
4 When will porting become available on the CDMA and Fixed
line Networks?
NCC has adopted a phased approach to the launch of Mobile
Number Portability service in Nigeria. The process to port to
CDMA networks will begin as soon as the GSM porting process is
completed and launched.
5 What type of phone number can be ported?
Any mobile number on the GSM network can be ported
irrespective of the type of service it is been used for (e.g. voice,
data, GPS tracking etc).
6 Where do I have to go to port my number?
Customers should go to the customer care office, retail shop or
outlet of their chosen new service provider and meet with the
authorized sales person to request to port their number.
(Porting can only be undertaken by visiting the customer care
office, retail shop or authorised dealer of your chosen new service
provider and is not available by telephone, online or other
electronic means). Please do not terminate your service with your
existing service provider before initiating porting with the new
service provider.
7 What time of day will the porting service be available by the
operator?
The porting service will be available when your new service
operator's store/ outlet/ sales point is open to customers.
8 What do I have to do to port?
You will be required to complete a Port Request Form. You will
also be asked to send a text message with the word “PORT” to a
short code “3232”. Assistance will be made available if required.
9 I'm a pre‐paid customer and I have some credit left ‐ can I
take this with me?
“Pre‐paid” customers won't be able to take outstanding credit with
them, and should use it up before they switch service providers.
10 What happens to SMS that I send or receive whilst porting?
Messages which have been sent to the customer prior to porting,
but not delivered, may be lost
11 Will I be able to take my voicemails, SMS and service settings
to my new operator?
You will lose your old voicemail, SMS, MMS and ancillary services,
and will need to set these up again with your new service provider.

SportsWhy Do We Love It When Barcelona Lose? by Imeobong(op): 12:47pm On Apr 24, 2013
Source: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/early-doors/why-love-barcelona-lose-233612080.html

They have one of the most exciting groups of players ever assembled.

They play football the right way, they try to score goals and never fail to entertain.

Their star player might just be the greatest footballer ever to draw breath.

They are owned by the fans, not some oil-rich sugar daddy or profit-obsessed tycoon.

They stand for something, they aren't just another of modern football's faceless machines.

So why does it feel so good when Barcelona get an absolute pasting, as they did so gloriously in the Allianz Arena?

Let's face facts. Football fans and Schadenfreude are best friends - a lot of the time, it's all we've got. But when Barça get tonked it just feels that little bit sweeter.

First of all, there is novelty value whenever a big team lose.

We're bored of Barcelona winning. They have made such an art of making the incredible look routine that... well, it looks routine. Lionel Messi scores in every game. We know this. The last time he failed to find the net in a Liga match was November 3, for pity's sake. That's 19 games. It's absurd. And in its own way it's a little bit boring.

So it becomes unfeasibly exciting to see him brought down to our level. To see him immediately tackled by two players whenever he gets on the ball, and end up scratching his head wondering how he can possibly influence the game.

Watching the world's greatest footballer morph into Michael Ricketts - it's really quite good fun.

But, other than the fact that they have been the best team for quite a while, it doesn't explain the extra little thrill when it's Barcelona.

For that, we can start by looking at their progress over the last 10 years.

When Barça came to the fore in the middle of the last decade it was really, genuinely exciting. Ronaldinho lifted a mid-table shambles back to prominence, and after Pep Guardiola took over they leapt to a level of unprecedented quality. Wonderful.

Then they started to believe their own hype. Such were the plaudits that they became convinced of their superiority - not just in scoring goals but also on a moral level.

On the rare occasions they failed to win, they would take it very badly. A senior player (often Xavi) would blame the opposition for parking the bus or tackling too hard.

When Barcelona took on Jose Mourinho's Inter in the 2010 semi-finals, they genuinely saw it as a battle of good versus evil. Which made Sergio Busquets's diving antics, immortalised in gif form, all the more risible.

More than anything, it is that moral dimension that makes Barcelona's failures so satisfying.

Football has its bogeymen. Serial trophy-hoarders disliked by everyone but their own fans - Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich. This is what winners should look like.

Real Madrid don't care what you think. Barcelona want you to like them.

Real Madrid want to be the best. Barcelona want to be the best, and play the nicest football, and for everyone to give them a round of applause for it.

They are to football what Roger Federer is to tennis. He and his fans are so convinced he has the most beautiful game, they consider it an affront to the sport when Novak Djokovic grinds him down in five sets.

Of course, there is no morality in sporting aesthetics. Even if you reject the notion that you play the game to win, style is just a matter of taste. Some may like Stoke's long-ball tactics, others prefer tiki-taka. It's all football.

Barcelona's more distant past contributes further to this sense of uniqueness.

The club are intrinsically linked to Catalan nationalism. Under Franco's fascist regime, they became a rallying point, a potent symbol of opposition. Even today campaigners for Catalan independence operate outside the Camp Nou on match days.

There's nothing fake about any of that. It's totally sincere and it feeds into a strong feeling of being the underdog, the outsider. Unfortunately, it's also what gives Barça the gall to emblazon their seats with 'MES QUE UN CLUB' - more than a club.

And when Barcelona try to sell you an underdog story with their star-spangled squad, their massive sponsorship deals, and their 100,000-seater stadium with its megastore and their overwhelmingly middle-class clientele... well, you want to invite them to Spotland on a cold December evening and show them what the little guy really looks like.

For all it might pretend otherwise, football is a brutal, cut-throat business. You don't get to the top without leaving a trail of bodies behind you.

But Barcelona carry themselves with the smug self-satisfaction of team that have not so much climbed the greasy pole as floated up it on some divine calling.

And that's what makes it so especially pleasing when they get played off the park.

QUOTE OF THE DAY 1: Gerard Pique disproves the above diatribe with a frustratingly magnanimous response to Barcelona's defeat in Munich: "They gave us a thrashing. We will try to turn it around in the return leg and put in a good performance for the fans. They were better and faster than us. There is no point talking about the referee, there is no excuse."

QUOTE OF THE DAY 2: Just when you thought Liverpool has played the Suarez bite perfectly, here's this from The FA: "Luis Suarez has accepted a charge of violent conduct following an incident with Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday’s fixture at Anfield. However, Suarez has denied The FA’s claim that the standard punishment of three matches is clearly insufficient for this offence."

FamilyHis Uncle's Wife Is Sleeping With The Gateman by Imeobong(op): 9:15pm On Sep 07, 2012
Saw this on Facebook, and he needs advice..

"I am afraid for my safety as I send this information to you. Please leave my e-mail address and name out of this. My purpose of writing is to get people's opinion on what to do.
"I came to Lagos about three months ago to stay with my uncle and his wife, who's an Ibo woman. By the way my uncle is from Edo State and their marriage is about four years without kids. In the last week of August my bros travelled to the North on official business and something happened in his bedroom.
"I came back that day because I could not meet up a job appointment in Igando area due to heavy traffic. I was reluctant to return home since I had just left but I couldn't think of a better place to go so I headed home. On getting to our compound, I didn't find the gate man at his post and I was even angry because of the security risk of him leaving the gate open like that.
"But something got me worried when I saw the gate man's sandals right inside our sitting room. I
just told myself that something is going on between my uncle's wife and this dirty boy. I was right, when I moved close to the window of my uncle's bedroom I started hearing screams of sexual pleasure from his wife. I tried to peep into the room but it was difficult because of the protector.
"So, I summoned courage and walk to the door as if I wanted to tell my uncle's wife that I was back. I opened the door and caught the adulterous woman red-handed under the dirty gate man (boy). Sadly, the gate man was already ejaculating so he couldn't get up immediately, it took him few seconds to jump off and grab his clothes.
"I simply walked away and returned to the sitting room, pretending to be watching a programme on the TV. Few minutes later my uncle's wife joined me and started begging that it would not happen again. I didn't say a word but when she kept pressing I said ok I've heard. Later she brought food for me but I refused it and since then she has been putting pressure on me.
"The unfortunate thing is now she even wants me to sleep with her as an assurance that I wont tell my uncle, always coming to my room half unclad. Because of this I've not eating in the house in the last one week, I'm almost going broke already.
"My uncle may be back next week. I will like people with more experience to tell me what to do when he comes back. Should I tell my uncle the kind of wife he married or quietly move out?
My Uncle is a Nice Guy, but who long will he leave with this situation"

RomanceRe: Does Being A Good Person Really Pay Off? by Imeobong(m):
My brother I was asking myself this question last week Sat. There is an Electrician by name Obinna that park into a complex I run my business late last year. Where he was b4 was demolished, I advised him to go talk to my landlord, which he did and the man gave him a space free of charge. During this period we did nt have light and the guy was suffering because he cud nt charge battery for his customers, meanwhile I run my 12kva generator 12 hrs everyday during this period, so I called him and told him to hook his wire to my change over so that he could be using light from me (be it Nepa or gen. But I told him that since they stay near the gate house where my gen set is that they should be looking after the gen and also change from Nepa to gen if the need arise.

This Obinna guy have been using my sweat and making money for almost 1 year now, I have never ask him for money to service or repair my gen, nor money for diesel, nor oil. But yet each time I ask him to do electrical work for me he will charge me and I always pay, and sometimes he will be showing negative attitude towards me, like sometimes, if Nepa takes light he or his boy will not go and start the gen or if they bring light they will not go and change to Nepa. Recently, maybe because of rainy season, the light has been stable and our neutral had problem and they was light throughout, we had stayed 4days without light cause of high voltage as a result of neutral failure, every other person in the complex agreed to contribute money for a Nepa guy to come and fix the neutral, but this Obinna guy refused cause he was having free light from my gen, it was not until I threaten him that he agreed to bring his 500 Naira contribution.

Just last week Friday, I wanted to travel to Aba from Enugu. My car developed kick problem that day, I took it to him he fixed it and it worked, he charged me 1500 naira which I begged and pay 800 naira, after which I went to fuel my car for the journey, after my car was fueled, the kick refused to work again, and the car was pushed and I took it back to him. He was not around and his boy ask me to go and buy brush, that it need to be changed. As his boy was about removing the kick he came back and started beating the boy and asking him who gave him the permission to ask me to buy brush?. I pleaded and he left the boy but was still grumbling, after the boy looses the kick this Obinna guy beats up the boy again. I became angry when I ask him not to and left them.

To cut long story short, after they finished fixing the car I did not go to him again, they only brought the key and I went started the car, and did not travel again that day. On Saturday it was a rainy day, but I still embark on the journey, and the rain was my saving grace, I travel and was even looking at my dash board which I normally do anytime I am driving. I finished what I went for at Aba and returned back to Enugu in the evening and met a little hold-up at New Haven junction, and that was when I noticed it, my temperature started rising, it has never risen before. I was so surprise, I pull over, open my bur net, behold, the radiator fan was not connected, I quickly connect it, after which I called him- the Obinna guy. His response was that he was not the one that work on my car and that it was his boy, nothing like sorry. I cut of the call started my car, thank God and drove back home. Since that day till today, I see him everyday since Monday, he has not said sorry. They no more put on.off the gen, nor change light, the unfortunate happened yesterday and this morning, gas cut in the gen and I had to rush buy gas and bleed the gen before it start, he and his boy where sitting and watching me, and today without me coming to check, there was no oil in that gen, I had to go buy oil and change it entirely, he and his boy where sitting and watching me do it, after which I decided that "enough is enough" and removed him from my gen.

He has since come and inquire why I disconnected him? and has gone round telling everybody, including the DCO. Can u imagine? Folks did I act badly? Please candid advice please. Thanks
Christianity EtcHow Prepared Are U? by Imeobong(op): 4:03pm On Aug 19, 2012
I got this from a friend and feel it's worth sharing: A man and his wife were going to a place in their car when an old man standing by the road side beckoned on them to carry him. They first decided not to wait because of the rampant cases of kidnapping happening in that area, after a few meters, the car suddenly stopped. The man simply came out of the car and went to call the old man once the old man entered the car,the man tried starting the car,and it went on smoothly. The old man then said, the Arch Angel was told to blow the trumpet last 2 weeks sunday (15/7/2012),but Jesus went and covered the mouth of the trumpet, and the old man disappeared . This is a true life story that happened at emure ekiti. Are you prepared for heaven? God has done his part let's do our part!

Christianity EtcNigeria: My Hero Pastor Is A False Prophet (part 1) by Imeobong(op): 4:37pm On Jul 10, 2012
Source: http://nigeriamasterweb.com/Masterweb/nigeria-my-hero-pastor-false-prophet-part-1

It has been a confusing time for many Nigerian Christians over the genuineness of the crowd claiming to be Bishops, Pastors, Apostles, Primates, Prophets, Rev Fathers and all who claim to have been called by God to minister spiritual food to his people. The mainstream Catholic, Protestant and Pentecostal churches have always viewed with suspicion the activities of religious leaders like Olumba Olumba Obu (who claimed to be the holy spirit); Eddy Nawgu (who was butchered by Bakassi boys); Rev King (currently in a Nigerian prison for setting a female church member ablaze) ; Prophet T.B. Joshua was initially blacklisted as a false prophet since 2001 by the leadership of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) under Bishop Mike Okonkwo and Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. Reports got to the PFN that Rev Chris Oyakhilome have been secretly fraternizing with T.B Joshua and was eventually seen on Television holding anointing service with T.B. Joshua at the latter’s Synagogue Church of All Nations, they called him for clarifications and when he failed to respond, they warned PFN members to beware of the antics of the duo. However, some church members of Olumba Olumba Obu, Eddy Nawgu, Rev King, T.B. Joshua and Chris Oyakhilome claimed that they received some form of relief from financial pressure, sicknesses and depression as a result of the prophesies, revelations, literature materials, holy oil, holy water and spiritual materials from these pastors.

The history of false prophets is as old as Christianity. The first named false prophet in Church history was Simon Magnus. This man was actually converted by Philip according to Acts chapter 8 vs 9-22 and when Apostle Peter and John came to Samaria to pray for the Holy Spirit on the new converts, this sorcerer turned Christian offered to buy the impartation for money and was rebuked by Peter. Simon converted to Christianity and was later to introduce all manners of false doctrines which he backed up with miracles to the consternation of the Apostles. He was seen as the father of heresies in the Church. When Simon died around 61 AD, Menander continued as his successor till 111AD.

Iraneus, Bishop of Lyonnais, and disciple of Polycarp who was tutored by Apostle John, had to confront a certain Marcus around 135-178 AD. This Marcus was performing some miracles, prophecies and causing a lot of people to commit sexual sin. He drew a lot of followership and caused confusion in the early church that Iraneus had to intervene by writing to religious faithful to beware of the magical antics of Marcus. This earned Iraneus the historical tag of Defender of the Faith.

Many Christians who had the privilege of dying and coming back to life like the celebrated case of John Chiedozie who died for some days and miraculously came back to life in the early eighties and Daniel Ekechukwu who was officially certified dead for 42 hours by a medical doctor and came back to life on Sunday, December 2nd 2001 between 3.30-5pm during the Crusade of German Evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke at Grace of God Mission, Onitsha had tales of seeing disobedient Christians in hell fire. The accounts of these two pastors corroborated the reality of heavenly bliss and a burning hell where even some pastors and disobedient Christians were languishing. Daniel Ekechukwu said he saw a pastor who told him that he was in hell for stealing church money.

A disobedient Christian is one who wilfully disobeys the commandments of God. A Christian who sleeps with church members, seduces pastors and snatches people’s husband is a disobedient Christian (1 Cor 6 vs 18). One who deliberately lies, slanders and bears false witness is a disobedient Christian. A Christian who visits necromancers, astrologers, native doctors, palm readers, sorcerers and diviners to gain promotion in office, contracts or political appointments is a disobedient Christians.(Deuteronomy chapter 18 vs 9-12). A prayerless and wordless Christian (one without sufficient knowledge of the Bible) is a disobedient Christian because by his laxity and weakness, the devil will strike and turn him into an experiment, bringing shame to the name of God.

The first identity of these false prophets is over emphasis on prosperity. The Bible says in 3 John 1 vs 2 ‘’ beloved I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers’’ This scripture posits that both soul prosperity ( repentance, salvation and sanctification) should be given the same attention as health and financial prosperity. Matthew 6 vs 33 says ‘’ but seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto you’’ this signifies that as the church member seeks constant repentance and sanctification (righteousness) God will equally include all other things, prosperity, health, breakthrough in a measure that will not be injurious to the soul of his child. Therefore a pastor who lays much emphasis on financial prosperity while abandoning spiritual prosperity is a false prophet. That was part of the heresies of Simon Magnus during the era of the early church.

A major fallacy from these false prophets is the theory of Once Saved, Always Saved. This theory posits that once a Christian is saved (born again) the person is always saved no matter the atrocities of the person. This fallacy is inconsistent with the scriptures. Judas Iscariot, one of the 12 Apostles, was once saved but lost his salvation due to greed and was called the son of perdition. (John 17 vs 12). Apostle Paul said in Philipians 2 vs 12 to ‘’.... work out our salvation with fear and trembling’’ and he also added in Romans 6 vs 1 ‘’ what shall we say then, shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound, God forbid. How shall we, that have died to sin, live any longer therein’’. Therefore, a pastor who teaches such is a false prophet, encouraging iniquity and leading his flock to hell.

Another fallacy is one of God’s Unending Mercy. God is both a Merciful God and a Consuming Fire. The same God that forgave King David his sins was the same that ensured that all the punishment He prescribed for David for committing adultery with Bathsheba and murdering her husband, Uriah, came to pass despite being a man after God’s heart. (2 Samuel 12vs 1-18). David lost four sons, including Amnon, Absalom and Adonijah as a result of the curse. Absalom killed Amnon for raping the young sister, Absalom plotted a coup against his father, David, dying in the process, while Solomon killed Adonijah . These false prophets give a one sided analogy of David’s forgivingness from God, without adding that David served out his full sentence, thereby encouraging sin in the church.

Another fallacy is the use of tithes and offerings to bribe God. The Bible enjoins us to pay tithes and offerings for the upkeep of the work of God but not from stolen funds. A Christian who steals government funds meant for development and provision of essential social amenities have already contributed to hardship in the society. He cannot bribe God by donating a part of the cursed money to the pastor as tithe, offering or seed. God rejected the offerings of Cain in Genesis 1 vs 4-5 , therefore God does not receive offerings obtained by looting national treasury. These false prophets propelled by greed will be glad to receive stolen money in the name of God without the consent of God.

Jesus Christ said that ‘’ and there shall arise false christs and false prophets and shall shew great signs and wonders ; in so much as it is possible, to deceive the very elect..’’ (Matthew 24vs 24) Therefore miracle is not the only proof of genuineness of a religious leader. Revelation chapter 16 vs 13 describing the prowess of satanic miracles says ‘’ and I saw three unclean spirits come out of the mouth of the dragon, and of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet . ’’ For they are the spirits of the devil, working miracles ....’’ The devil can do miracles too especially Marine spirits who can give a relief from one side and add a problem from another side. The False Prophet will use miracles to give credence to the Anti-Christ including calling down fire from heaven.(Rev 13vs 13). Paul had to strike a certain false prophet by name BarJesus with blindness for obstructing him while preaching to theRoman proconsul Sergio Paulus. (Acts 13vs 6-12). Bible history had shown that the prophets of Baal were in the habit of calling down fire from heaven until the battle of Mount Carmel where their god could not perform on the all important day.

The early church were brought up with mindset of cross checking every new teaching to ensure that it is in tandem with the scriptures. These false prophets elevate their views above the teachings of the scriptures. The Berean Christians were called noble because they searched the scriptures to see whether the teachings of Paul were according to the Old Testament (Acts 17 vs 11). Therefore every Christian have a noble duty to prayerfully evaluate the theories of his Pastor, Bishop, General Overseer with the teachings of the Bible to avoid a situation whereby according to Jesus Christ in Matthew 15 vs 13-14, a blind man is leading a blind man and all fall into a pit.

It was their wedding anniversary, and Rose, was waiting for her husband (Dan) to show up...Things had changed since their marriage, the once "cute, couldn't-live-without-each-other couple" had turned bitter.. Fighting over every little thing, both didn't like the way things had turned so negative. Rose was waiting to see if Dan remembered it was their anniversary. Just as the door bell rang, she ran to find her husband wet and smiling with a bunch of flowers in his hand...The Couple started reliving the good old days. Making up for fights, there was then plan 4 champagne, light music and rain outside! It was perfect, but the moment paused when the phone in the bedroom rang! Rose went to pick it up and it was a Man voice "Hello Ma'am, I'm calling from the Police Station. Is this Mr Dan Brynes Home?" Yes it is answered Rose. " I'm sorry Ma'am, but there was an accident and a Man died. We got this number from his purse; we need u to come and identify his body." Rose heart sank.. What that Frickles! "But my Husband is here with me?" "Sorry Ma'am, but the incident took place at 2pm, when he was boarding the subway. Rose was about to lose her senses. How could this happen!? She knew these type of things she heard about the soul of a dead coming to meet a loved one before it leaves finally! She ran into the other room..He was not there.. It was true! He had left her for good!! Oh God, she would have died for another chance to mend every little fight before! She rolled on the Floor in pain. She lost her chance, forever! Suddenly, there was a noise from d bathroom, the door opened and Dan came
out and said..."Hun, I forgot to tell u my purse was stolen today"! LIFE MIGHT NOT GIVE U A SECOND CHANCE.. SO NEVER WASTE A MOMENT WHEN YOU CAN STILL MAKE UP FOR YOUR WRONGS!!! The second half of d year is rolling out so let's start making amends...To parents, To spouses,To lovers, To in-laws, friends, everybody. will start from u am sorry if wronged you in any way. Pls 4giv me

Jokes EtcWedding Night Experiences by Imeobong(op): 9:00pm On Jun 24, 2012
A mum was lucky enough to see her 3 daughters wed in the same year....... So she whispered to each of them after their weddings..... "Text me your 1st Night experience & doп'†̥ forget to text it in code o!"
After a week, the 1st daughter sent 'NESCAFE' in an sms to her mum while a week later, the 2nd text 'BENSON'. Their mum, as a soji woman, picked up a tin of Nescafe & read from the label; "fantastic till the last drop!"
she also went to her husband's pack of Benson Cigarettes & found written on it; "extra long, king size!". She smiled & taught aloud; 'not too bad for them at their age sha!'
A few days later, her 3rd daughter's text comes in; "Arik: Lagos - Kano!". So Mama calls Arik Air Information Desk to inquire about their kano-lagos flight!
She was told; "Its 3 times daily, 7days a week & the flight duration is 75mins to & fro!". Mama then throws herself in the air, lands, slumps & faints shouting... "Yeeeeee! Dis one go kill my daughter Oº°˚

THE MOST INSENSITIVE COUPLE ON EARTH ? or should the dead bury the dead ? Smiling at their wedding today after losing their sister with her four kids, husband and mother..Maimuna's brother and her bride today..She died in the Dana air crash while coming for this guy's wedding, but they decided to go ahead with the wedding even when the bodies of the deceased were not yet buried including that of a twin of 2 years. BY Peter Okoli

BACKGROUND: Mrs Maimuna Anyene is from Niger state while her husband is from Anambra state. She was killed along with her husband, 4 kids, mother, sister and 2 cousins visiting Nigeria for her brother's wedding from USA on Dana crash.

do you agree that they should have postponed the wedding to a later date?
Unusual love story of couple who were killed in Dana Plane crash

One of the most tragic stories from the ill-fated flight Dana Air 992 that crashed in Lagos on Sunday revolves around Maimuna Anyene, a Connecticut-based Nigerian woman, who died along with her husband, sister, her four kids, two cousins and her mother-in-law.

Ms. Anyene, who is being mourned by friends, relatives and colleagues around the world, was described by several sources as having a boisterous laughter, a happy spirit and an infectiously cheerful disposition.

One of the late woman’s spirits closest friends captured her spirits. “When Maimuna laughed, she was always loud, joyful, and even crazy in the good sense. She laughed spontaneously and excitedly. It was a full-of-life kind of laughter that seemed to come from deep within her belly. She laughed without inhibitions. She was pretty and had cute dimples that made her round face memorable.”

Maimuna was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ndanusa and Birikisu Mijindadi on July 30, 1979. Her father, from Bida, Niger State, was a professor at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Her mother had worked for a few years as a nurse in the United States before returning to Nigeria where she began and ran several enterprises, including a large grape farm in Zaria.

Maimuna attended primary school in Zaria and completed secondary school at Queens College, Lagos.

She proceeded to the University of Ibadan, where she studied Economics, graduating in 2001 with a Second Class (Upper) degree. At UI, she made many friends, staying close to several of them years beyond her university days.

One friend said she stood out as the most studious in her circle of friends. “Maimuna was the one who talked to her friends to focus on their academic work whenever she found them in danger of getting too distracted by the many temptations of student life,” said the friend.

“No surprise that we called her ‘effico,’ a nickname for nerds and bookworms. It meant she was efficient in organizing her study and play time. She was diligent and hardworking, and simply never lost sight of her priorities.”

Another friend said she fondly remembered how she and others called Maimuna “effico.” “It was a term of endearment but also a playful kind of derision. We derided her for keeping us honest by enforcing group discipline. And, at last, we cherished her for keeping us honest that some of us graduated with honors from Ibadan and other universities.”

On graduating from UI, Maimuna returned to Zaria for a few months before heading to Lagos for the mandatory one year stint as a member of the National Youth Service Corps. She served with Citibank in Lagos.

Maimuna was married to Onyeka Anyene, a lawyer who has offices in Abuja and Lagos. Friends described the marriage as one founded on religious tolerance and broadmindedness. A devout Muslim, Maimuna married Mr. Anyene, a Christian.

A few friends disclosed that Maimuna’s parents were at first reluctant to approve their daughter’s choice of husband-to-be. Even so, Maimuna and Onyeka displayed their determination by heading for the Marriage Registry in Ikoyi, Lagos to solemnise their wedding. The ceremony was marked by a simplicity that was characteristic of the couple; it was witnessed only by three persons: a close friend of Maimuna’s from her U.I. days, and a couple who were friends of the groom.
