IBOM AIR’S STEADY GROWTH- A PRODUCT OF FORESIGHT, INGENUITY AND WISDOM Multiple award winning Nigerian airline, Ibom Air has declared N96bn revenue, N6.8bn net profit for year 2024, a large departure from the previous 2023 stunted performance, which it explained, stemmed from the unstable economic realities of the time. One cannot but smile ear to ear in reminiscing the rare decision of the Akwa Ibom State immediate past governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON, to commit investments into the first ever sub national-owned airline during this reign as the State's Chief Executive; an initiative which is currently enjoying the sustaining ingenuity of Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, Governor of Akwa Ibom State. When the first sets of the airline’s aircraft arrived on the soil of Akwa Ibom State, cynics had gone on autopilot mode, deriding the project as a white elephant, meant to score cheap political points for the Governor who was then seeking a re-election. Even patriots had no reasons not to believe that the airline was a ruse, after all, the country, could not run one, and the current attempt only ended up on the drawing table, with just a logo to show. But Emmanuel was one, not won’t to distractions, and with his eyes on the ball, pressed on, and in June 2023, the first African, sub-national airline started operations from Akwa Ibom State, with its unique selling points being, efficiency in service, relatively new aircraft, prompt time management delivery, and fair market pricing, among others. But as a leader who has interest in sustaining the gains of his stewardship, Mr Emmanuel pitched his tent with another gentleman, who is humble, Godfearing, compassionate and experienced in effective management of human and material resources- Pastor Umo Eno. His success in the private sector, and the passion to lift the State, was evident in his campaign promises, that he will connect the dots, and build on the foundation laid by his predecessor. This, in the airline progress story, has seen Governor Eno, ensuring the acquisition of four additional aircraft, two CRJ jets and two Airbus A220-300 series. In its first Public Annual General Meeting held June 25, 2025 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Ibom Airlines Limited announced a 43% Revenue Increase from N67b in 2023 to N96b in 2024. It also noted that the Operational Profit grew from a loss position of N3b in 2023 to a N16.5b profit in 2024, and a Net Profit from N8.7b loss in 2023 to N6.8b in 2024. It is today heartwarming that the economic vision, forecast and calculations of Mr. Udom Emmanuel in the aviation investment pays off gladly and every proud Akwaibomite is falling head over heels in pride, with the steady growth of the Ibom Air brand. Little wonder Udom Emmanuel himself had usually armed himself with a steady response to unrepentant media attacks from John 13:7, “Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter“, a response that resonates till date.

"For over 30 years, Akwa Ibom has struggled to have a deep seaport, today we are reassured that the federal government will show us the order of reciprocity, by helping us to realise our deep seaport. Akwa Ibom has the longest draught 19 metres deep, that does not require dredging. We have struggled as a State, but I believe we have struggled enough. I believe that our President who is a man of his word, will honour us. Even if it is one terminal, this movement would have been justified. Akwa Ibom people look with hope, and look unto the President and the Federal Government, as the bride looks unto the face of her groom. This movement will be the beginning of a new dawn for Akwa Ibom State in terms of infrastructure and projects that would enable us to be seen as having taken a good decision. We have taken a risk by joining our son, the Distinguished Senate President, to work with him and deliver our President in 2027. Every risk also has a reward and we know that Akwa Ibomites everywhere around the world will be happy that this marriage has brought us goodwill." - - HE Governor Umo Eno,PhD, during a reception rally in his honour in Uyo.

‼️NEWS ROUND‼️ *God Has Sent Me On For the Good of A”ibom , Says Governor Umo Eno* …*Reaffirms Commitment to ARISE Agenda at Government House Prayer Meeting* 🎈Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the ARISE Agenda, declaring that his steps are divinely ordered and guided by enlightened state interest. 🎈Speaking on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the monthly Government House Prayer Meeting held at the Latter House Chapel, an emotion-laden Governor Eno thanked the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was present at the service, and declared: “God has sent me ahead.” 🎈The Governor officially pronounced the ARISE Agenda as the singular and official blueprint of his administration, with the ARISE uniform as its symbol of unity and purpose. 🎈Governor Eno emphasized his administration’s resolve to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in delivering good governance, noting that collaboration with the federal government is essential for the accelerated development of Akwa Ibom. “There are things the State cannot do alone. We must secure the confidence of the federal government. That is enlightened state interest,” he stated. 🎈Acknowledging the weight of recent political decisions, the Governor noted that the decision was not taken lightly, as it is both emotionally charged and deeply reflective but “like the children of Issachar, we must understand the times. Leadership requires vision, courage, and timely decisions, even when they are not easy,” he said. 🎈The Governor called on church leaders to take an active interest in state affairs by offering spiritual guidance and prayer support. He stressed that “every administration is for a purpose,” and urged the people to move forward in unity. “We need to create more opportunities for our people in the bigger Nigerian space. Let’s not be stuck in one spot, running around the teacup. I know where I am going, and God will see us through to success.” 🎈He concluded by affirming that his administration will continue its programmes and projects under the ARISE Agenda without distraction, urging Akwa Ibomites to support the journey ahead. “I respect people who make decisions, and I ask that my own decisions also be respected. If we align and realign rightly, we will get what we need as a State,” the Governor added.

WE ARE ALL STRONGLY IN SUPPORT OF GOV ENO’S PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT - PERSONAL AIDES By Mary Martins All personal aides to the Akwa Ibom State Governor are solidly behind him and are fully ready to celebrate the new political course of progress charted by Pastor Umo Eno,PhD. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr Essien Ndueso, stated this in a media interview in Uyo. Dr. Ndueso, who is also the Dean of the College of Personal Aides, maintained that all his colleagues, including senior special assistants, special assistants and personal assistants to the Governor, have pledged their fidelity to the renewed hope/ARISE Agenda united for progress. “As we speak, the Governor’s aides will all be present at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday to celebrate their boss and his peaceable disposition, which has united the State and positioned it for even greater advancement”. The Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso, described the Governor’s move as “a welcome development that aligns Akwa Ibom State with the government at the center.” “The Governor has truly lived up to his promise of uniting Akwa Ibom State and reconciling all the diverse interests. This is about the Akwa Ibom Project — a unified front for the common good,” Dr. Ndueso emphasized. In what is set to be a high-profile ceremony, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the Senate President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, will officially receive Governor Umo Eno into the APC at the rally. “Pastor Umo Eno is not one to switch parties in secrecy. He wants the people to witness this historic movement and understand the long-term benefits of aligning with the center,” he said. Dr. Ndueso expressed unwavering loyalty to the governor, stating that his decision to follow Governor Eno to the APC was based on a deep belief in the governor’s vision and performance under the Arise Agenda. “I have been with the Governor from the trenches. Leaving his government now would mean I no longer believe in his ability to deliver. But I do now more than ever,” he affirmed. While acknowledging the legacy of previous PDP administrations in the state including massive road projects and industrial strides, Dr. Ndueso insisted that the synergy with the federal government will multiply the pace and scale of development. He cited instances where initiatives were stifled in the past due to political polarization, including the controversial cancellation of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s planned commissioning of the Coconut Refinery in 2022 during Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration. “You can recall that the Vice President had to call off his intended inauguration of the Coconut Oil Factory, after the APC in the State complained that it was a subtle campaign for the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections. “The VP called off the event and rather went on to have political consultations with his party members, thereby Akwa Ibom missing its opportunity of committing the federal government to support for the project. “Akwa Ibom contributes significantly to the federal purse as Nigeria’s highest oil-producing state yet, we’ve not benefitted enough due to political differences and this move seeks to end that,” he noted. “Look at all the investments drive of the immediate past Government of Mr Udom Emmanuel,CON. He built the highest number of roads in the history of the State, the longest stretches of dual carriage ways and the longest bridges such as the Afe Uko Ntighe and Ikot Oku Ikono; and attracted all the industries out of his own ingenuity and with no support from the federal government. “Now that Pastor Eno is aligning the state with the center it means the development will triple. If we were recording progress in an arithmetic progression, henceforth it will be in a geometric progression because of the anticipated unbiased support from the federal government” He described the alignment as strategic, as it will open doors for federal agencies like the NDDC to collaborate freely with the state without fear of political backlash. Dr. Ndueso mentioned that his local government which holds over 40% of Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves is optimistic that this transition will attract long-awaited attention and federal projects. Sharing a personal reflection, he further explained that the governor’s ideology, like that of King Solomon in the Bible, is rooted in peace choosing reconciliation and unity over conflict. And like Solomon’s reign of peace that enabled development, Governor Umo Eno, he said, seeks to foster an atmosphere where growth can thrive. He dismissed criticisms of the defection, noting that opposition is a natural component of democracy. Citing the Individual Differences Theory, he reasoned that “no two individuals think alike, even twins don’t think alike. So we expect some dissenting voices. But overall, the people are happy.” He concluded by emphasizing the importance of Saturday’s event, calling it a monumental celebration that will attract people from across Nigeria.

The Height of Political Hypocrisy and Why Aniekan Akpan Must Resign as PDP Chairman Immediately The recent defection of Governor Umo Eno from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has exposed the shocking duplicity at the highest levels of the PDP leadership in Akwa Ibom State. What we are witnessing is not just ordinary political maneuvering, but a brazen betrayal of trust that demands immediate action from the party's National Working Committee (NWC). At the center of this disgraceful episode is Elder Aniekan Akpan, the State Chairman of the PDP, whose actions since the governor's defection have made a complete mockery of the party's principles and the loyalty of its members. This is a man who, just weeks ago, stood before the people of Akwa Ibom as the leader of the PDP, only to now shamelessly trail behind the governor to every APC function, grinning from ear to ear as if he has not committed the highest form of political treachery. Aniekan Akpan’s conduct since Governor Eno’s defection has been nothing short of scandalous. Here is a man who, as PDP Chairman, was the first to endorse the governor’s move to the APC, declaring publicly that he would follow the governor "wherever he goes." Since then, he has attended every major APC event, rubbing shoulders with the party’s leaders while still clinging to his position as PDP Chairman because he can’t serve two master’s. This is an unforgivable conflict of interest. How can a man who has openly pledged allegiance to another party continue to preside over the affairs of the PDP? If Aniekan Akpan has any shred of honor left, he should resign immediately and defect openly to the APC, rather than engaging in this charade that insults the intelligence of every loyal PDP member in Akwa Ibom State. The recent statement by Edwin Ebiese, the PDP’s Publicity Secretary which is a laugable press release and his claiming that the party remains "100% intact and unshaken" is nothing but a desperate attempt to paper over the glaring cracks in the party’s leadership. While Ebiese was busy crafting empty reassurances, his boss, Aniekan Akpan, was busy attending APC events and solidifying his relationship with the new ruling party. This is the height of hypocrisy. How can the PDP claim to be unshaken when its own State Chairman is practically an APC member in disguise? Ebiese’s press release is an insult to the thousands of PDP members who have chosen to remain in the party out of principle, refusing to jump ship for temporary political gains. The silent betrayal of loyal PDP members, what makes this situation even more infuriating is the fact that many PDP faithfuls including commissioners, local government chairmen, and grassroots supporters have chosen to stay in the party despite the governor’s defection. Some, like Ini Ememobong and Chris AbasiEyo, even resigned their positions in government rather than compromise their principles. Yet, while these men and women stand firm, the man who is supposed to be their leader, Aniekan Akpan, is openly dining with the opposition. This is not just a betrayal it is a slap in the face of every loyal party member who still believes in the PDP’s ideals. The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) must act now. Aniekan Akpan’s continued presence as State Chairman is a cancer eating away at the party’s credibility, If the NWC fails to dissolve his executive committee immediately, it will send a dangerous message that the PDP tolerates such blatant disloyalty. The precedent is clear, the PDP has dissolved state executives for far less in the past and there is no justification for allowing Akpan to remain in office after his open fraternization with the APC, every day he stays in power is another day of humiliation for the party. Aniekan Akpan must go. He cannot continue to pretend to lead a party he has clearly abandoned in spirit, If he has any respect left for the PDP or its members, he should resign today and defect openly to the APC. To the NWC, the time for alacrity is now. The PDP in Akwa Ibom cannot rebuild under a chairman who has sold his soul to the opposition, dissolve this compromised executive committee before it’s too late. To the loyal PDP members, Do not be discouraged, the party belongs to those who believe in its ideals, not to fair weather politicians who switch allegiance at the slightest opportunity, stand firm, demand accountability, and fight for the soul of your party. This is not just about politics, it is about integrity. And right now, Aniekan Akpan has none left.

UMO ENO AND UDOM EMMANUEL : WHY THEY MUST REMAIN LEADERSHIP MODELS As Akwa Ibom State approaches the year 2027, the anticipation of another pivotal election cycle is steadily intensifying. The political landscape is becoming increasingly charged with tension, as various politicians and political factions regroup and craft new alliances, often fabricating or exaggerating political tandems and loyalties to serve their strategic interests. Amidst this swirling political turbulence, one crucial factor remains paramount: the preservation of the current peace and cordial relationship that exists between Governor Umo Eno PhD and his predecessor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel CON . This relationship, characterized by mutual respect and cooperation, has become a beacon of stability not only within Akwa Ibom but also across Nigeria’s political sphere. It exemplifies a mature and pragmatic approach to leadership, demonstrating that differing political affiliations or personal ambitions do not necessarily have to breed conflict or discord. Maintaining this peace is of utmost importance, especially in a political climate where opportunistic actors seek to exploit perceived differences and sow discord for their own gain. Regrettably, some factions within the political class have begun to project and promote groups with the explicit aim of undermining Governor Umo Eno’s authority. These groups often operate under the guise of ideological platforms but are, in reality, driven by motives of blackmail, intimidation, and destabilization. Their strategy appears to be aimed at creating divisions, attempting to portray the Governor as a mere trator before Deacon Udom Emmanuel CON thus orchestrating internal conflicts between the two capable and prudent leaders. Such tactics threaten the stability of the state’s political harmony and undermine the collective progress made under their leadership. The harmonious relationship between Governor Umo Eno, Ph.D., and Deacon Udom Emmanuel CON is an exemplary model for Nigeria at large. It underscores the importance of unity, dialogue, and mutual respect among political leaders, regardless of their differing views or backgrounds. Just yesterday, at the Apostolic Church in Lagos, Governor Umo Eno, PhD, visited to offer his gratitude to God for the divine fulfillment of a prophecy that was proclaimed within that very sanctuary. During this significant occasion, he unequivocally reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to fostering a peaceful and harmonious relationship with his predecessor, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and understanding between the two leaders. In his heartfelt words, Governor Eno expressed, “At God's appointed time, His divine grace touched the heart of my political father, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. That is the reason I will forever hold Deacon Udom Emmanuel in the highest regard and honour. Should anyone expect me to act otherwise, I challenge them to take everything they wish to offer—because my loyalty and respect are unwavering.” He further articulated his deep sense of gratitude and recognition for the spiritual and political guiding hands that shaped his journey, stating, “From my youth, I have learned the vital lesson not to forget those whom God has used to touch and elevate my life. It was through God's divine intervention that He used Deacon Udom Emmanuel to fulfill the prophecy spoken here in 1980, and I will always cherish and honour that divine partnership.” This heartfelt declaration explains not only the profound respect and reverence he holds for his predecessor but also highlights the genuine understanding and peaceful coexistence that both leaders aspire to uphold. Their mutual recognition of each other's roles as instruments of divine purpose exemplifies a leadership rooted in humility, respect, and a shared commitment to the collective good of the community they serve. This partnership has garnered recognition at the highest levels, including commendations from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself, who often cites Governor Umo Eno PhD and his predecessor as exemplars of effective and responsible political leadership. It is essential to recognize that leadership styles naturally differ among individuals; what is effective or appropriate for one leader may not be for another. Personal priorities, backgrounds, and perspectives inevitably shape their actions and decisions. Attempting to exploit or exaggerate these subtle differences, or to portray them as faults or faults in character, is not only unjust but also perilous. Such attempts are likely to incite political crises, foster unnecessary tension, and divert focus from the common good. Furthermore, the emergence of clandestine groups or factions that claim to represent one leader or the other, particularly those formed solely to run gossips, blackmail, or political intimidation, are wholly unacceptable and antithetical to the spirit of genuine unity that exist today in Akwa Ibom State It is widely understood that some individuals within the political class may feel uncomfortable with the enduring peace and stability, especially since political conflicts often translate into financial gains for certain actors. Nevertheless, it is imperative that all stakeholders, especially those with vested interests, allow the leaders to continue exercising their prudent and statesmanlike partnership without unwarranted interference or malicious attempts to destabilize their smooth relationship . The ongoing peace and cooperation between Governor Umo Eno PhD and Deacon Udom Emmanuel CON serve as a vital foundation for the political stability of Akwa Ibom State. It is a model worth emulating across Nigeria, highlighting that unity, respect, and dialogue are indispensable tools for sustainable development and progress. All political actors must prioritize the collective good over personal or factional gains, fostering an environment where leadership can thrive unencumbered by unnecessary conflicts or manipulative tactics. Let's allow this peaceful political union to continue without conflict. Nigerians are happy that, for once, they have leaders like Governor Umo Eno PhD and Deacon Udom Emmanuel CON who can relate peacefully and show mutual respect and humility towards each other. Governor Umo Eno, PhD, remains the primary and highest beneficiary of Deacon Udom Emmanuel's benevolence. He does not take this for granted and will never do anything that could cause his benefactor to regret his support. On the other hand, Deacon Udom Emmanuel CON understands the principles of leadership. He respects Governor Umo Eno PhD as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and will never do anything or make any statement that disrespects the office he once occupied. Therefore, those regrouping to create political tension should understand that they cannot be more Catholic than the Pope. In the kingdom of Udom's men, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State is the number one leader.

FACEBOOK LAWYER, INIBEHE EFFIONG SHOULD NOT BLAME GOV UMO ENO FOR HIS FRUSTRATIONS Richard Peters Everything Inibehe Effiong claims to be starts and ends on social media. From his acclaimed popularity and knowledge of the law, he is merely a Facebook Tiger that is why he files petitions online and prosecutes online. Outside social media, Inibehe is like a fish taken out of water. He claims to be a lawyer but a good diploma student understands the law more than him. Imagine the temerity of calling Governor Umo Eno "irresponsible and witchcraft!" When he insults people in positions of authority and gets applauded by his Facebook friends, he erroneously thinks he is legal titan when in the real sense, he is poor in law. Of course, empty cymbals make more noise. With all this noise joblessness has imposed on Inibehe, he cannot defend a fowl thief in court because he lacks foundational knowledge of his supposed profession. Inibehe starts court appearance with contempt of court and ends with contempt of court. That is why his own court is on social media where he is both the prosecutor and the judge. I did not know this until he appeared as a defense counsel to the late Barr Leo Ekpenyong on a matter I was the lead testifier. Leo was in court for criminal defamation against former Governor Udom Emmanuel. When he was to cross-examine me, I was scared thinking I was appearing before a lawyer judging by his overrated popularity. But Inibehe disappointed himself and whoever must have contributed to his law training whether by way of sponsorship or teaching. He left the cross-examination and came to physically attack me, and that scenario repeated thrice which eventually led to his sentencing and remand in Ikot Ekpene Correctional Centre. I gave this background to establish that Mr Inibehe Effiong lacks the credentials to be insulting every leader in Akwa Ibom State. This serial blackmailer has never seen anything good in any leader or governor of Akwa Ibom State. He has sustained steam and flame of insults on Senator Godswill Akpabio, Mr Udom Emmanuel, and now, Pastor Umo Eno, talking carelessly and bringing their names to disrepute because he feels he has monopoly of insult. Even if the leaders are not saints, the least person to judge them cannot be a man who cannot even manage a wife or family let alone comparing himself to persons who are managing 8 million people. What makes Inibehe think that Governor Umo Eno should not have an opinion on who should be Nigeria's President? Governor Eno has every right to endorse President Tinubu for a second term in Office, and give his millions of supporters in Akwa Ibom State who elected him as their governor direction come 2027. And this unfortunate lawyer without bearing is barking with his chained legs and arms! It is not Inibehe's duty to protest because he is not Governor Eno's supporter. The governors supporters have heard their leader, and have since gone to work; what political value does a failed lawyer have in a State where the only he only places he knows are the airport, prison and restaurants? Governor Umo Eno is a contra-myopic leader who is concerned about the good of Akwa Ibom State, and cannot allow political party divides to put a wedge between his people and development which President Tinubu represents. Inibehe is too insignificant to begin to tell an elected Governor who to support or not. Inibehe claims to be suffering from myopia which has blinded him from seeing all the great and promising efforts of Governor Eno to change the economic fortunes of Akwa Ibom State, ranging from the unprecedented empowerment programmes to the investments in education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure. Inibehe's appointment with ENT consultants failed to treat his acoustic ailments for him to hear the ubiquitous testimonies of beneficiaries of the governor's benevolence especially the vulnerable. The first lawyer of his generation who neither reads newspapers nor monitor the media space to know that under Governor Umo Eno, there is an aggressive rural development, and that in 2025 alone, the governor has lined up 25 Special Projects that will continue the loveable trajectory of taking Akwa Ibom State to the firmament of prosperity. Or he hates the governor for building Compassionate Homes for the vulnerable across the State? Inibehe cannot continue to wear oversize white shirts and insult successive Governors of Akwa Ibom State; it will end in this Umo Eno's administration. Why is it possible that no Akwa Ibom leader has ever impressed Inibehe in any aspect? Must we all relocate to Lagos and grow external economy for Inibehe to be happy? He should note from today henceforth that any insults on Governor Eno is an insult on Akwa Ibom State, especially his supporters , and we not allow you to get away with it again. Deal with your frustrations, Governor did not place you there, and should not be getting your transferred aggressions. Governor Umo Eno says we in Akwa Ibom State will deliver President Tinubu in 2027 for a second term, and we are running with that because it is in the overall interest of Akwa Ibom State, South South and Southern Nigeria. No wailing from a tactless lawyer can change that position. Not from a mere bachelor with just a bachelor's degree.

VP KASHIM SHETTIMA APPLAUDS GOV ENO'S INVESTMENT IN HUMAN CAPITAL DEVT. ... says A'Ibom worthy of emulation Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima has applauded the audacious investments in human capital development by Governor Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom State, saying he is worthy of emulation. In his speech at the launch of the ARISE Human Capital Development Strategic Plan held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, Vice President Shettima noted that investment in human capital development surpases every form of investment. “That is why I commend Akwa Ibom, not only for your outstanding performance, but for daring to dream bigger. "With an under-five mortality rate of 80, compared to the national average of 110, and with only 3.5% of primary school-age children out of school—far below the national average of 25.6%—your state is not merely compliant with our national vision. You are ahead of the curve. And I assure you, the federal government stands ready to partner hand-in-hand with you. “This is the Governor in whom the President has a lot of confidence in. “Let me therefore commend the Governor and his team, for not only adopting the HCD framework but localizing its operation and placing people in the center of public policies. This is leadership, this is what it means to govern with vision, foresight and commitment.” The Vice President said the National Human Capital Development Programme, which has entered its second phase, is a solution re-engineered to meet the moment. "At its core, HCD 2.0 is about integration and impact. It is built on the foundation of HCD 1.0, but goes further to incorporate cross-cutting themes. What has brought us together in Uyo—the launch of the ARISE Human Capital Development Strategy by His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno—is a template for each state of the federation. It’s a strategy that acknowledges that we can’t build an enduring castle without a solid foundation. "What Akwa Ibom State has shown us here isn’t just progress, it is leadership. It has become the first state in the nation to localise the HCD vision in its truest form. While other states have a strategy tailored towards the state, Akwa Ibom has taken a step forward by adopting the strategies in all local government areas. "We cannot solve what we do not measure. This is why we have launched the HCD Dashboard to monitor these indicators at both state and local levels with precision. We are deploying data not for reports, but for results. "I urge every governor to learn from the example set by His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno. There’s no legacy that surpasses that of building our people. There’s no monument that would outlive the legacies of health, education, and opportunity," he said. Earlier in his remark, Governor Umo Eno saluted the Vice President, for the great work done in putting together the building blocks of the ARISE Human Capital Development and Local Government HCD Implementation Roadmap and Strategic Plan, and also leading frontally towards its implementation and delivery. He also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making Human Capital Development a major focal area of his Renewed Hope Agenda, of which, according to him, Akwa Ibom State is a beneficiary. The Governor said the Human Capital Development Plan, is also designed to expansively provide key human-centric projects such as healthcare services which the State is currently executing through investments in the construction and equipping of primary healthcare centers, provision of quality education at both the primary and secondary levels, empowerment of people, and equipping them with requisite skills, knowledge and equipment they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. He enumerated different efforts of his administration at human capital development to include; establishment of Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Centre (IBOM-LED) which has trained over 4000 people with start-up grants ranging from N5,000, 00-N750 ,000 , the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre, DASAC, where over 400 trainees recently graduated in various areas of skills-set. Also in the list included; 16 youths in Toulouse, France for training as pilots with Airbus, 21 engineers who recently came back from training with Ethiopian Airlines and would soon be absorbed by Ibom Air, empowerment of businesses, traders, and farmers with grants worth over N4 billion through Town Square Empowerment Meetings and support for Small and Medium Scale (SMEs), and many others. He noted that his people's first policy which is encapsulated in the government's ARISE Agenda aligns with that of the federal government and he would do all possible to ensure the HCD programme meets its set target.

UDOM EMMANUEL’S TRADUCERS AND THE STORY OF DANIEL Essien Ndueso The drums were loud and the signals were clear. They felt pained that you performed creditably well in your tenure, defying all logics of economics which had plagued our country. That is why they made so much noise, simply because as an honest man that you are, an invitation was honoured. A clear conscience nurses no fear. Like Daniel in the Lion’s den, you saw and you conquered. Those who want to see you shamed, now gnaw their teeth in anguish, and the tears they yearn for you have submerged their saucers. That disgrace, will never come. You came to our State at a time there was general apathy about governance. At a time people had lost hope on safety and general welfare, because a large chunk of our State had been besieged by terror and insecurity. The plains of Ibesikpo, the coastal communities of Eket, the hills of Uruan, all succumbed to marauders who turned the State into a killing field. My own father, Elder Ekefre Ndueso Etukudo, till date, still bears the pains of three bullets pumped inside his abdomen by those who reigned at the time. If they could succeed over an Army General, a former military governor’s wife and several other political gladiators, with armed guards, then who was a retired civil servant in his quiet country home on that fateful day, April 7,2011. At the time you came into office; there was no motor-able access into Eket Senatorial District, either through Etinan, Abak or Onna. Oron had been cut into two on the major expressway from Iquita community to Anwana Esin axis of the road. The alternative entry point, via Mainland Avenue became a dead trap. While the coastal corridor through Enwang was cut off due to the lack of political will to link the Etebi - Enwang Bridge. There was no single state government dual carriage way on the entire stretch of the 12 local government areas of Eket Senatorial District. Not even an access road to the seashore where the country has over 40% of its gas reserves. But that was not all, there was no access road to Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, as the Uyo - Ikot Ekpene Road was an eyesore, with while the alternative Uyo - Abak road was marred by a dead trap, known as Ikot Oku Ikono junction. While others were complaining of recession that rocked the country, you preferred to turn water into wine. No one before you ever constructed a longer stretch of dual carriage ways in the State. 23.7km with three bridges on Eket - Etinan, dual carriage 29.5km from Etinan to Ndon Eyo with two cable bridges, 20km from Ibiono Ibom- Ikot Ekpene, 20km from Uyo to Etinan, the list is endless. No State Government before you constructed any road to link Akwa Ibom with sister state. You did. Nto Edino - Ekwerazu in Abia State with two bridges, Ikpe Ikot Nkon - Arochukwu in Abia State with two bridges etc. Just like you built bridges to connect communities, recording 40 of such bridges; you also built bridges of peace in our State. Your main opponents in the 2015 election became your principal partners in State building. You instituted peace and retrieve conquered territories like Ukanafun and Ika back on the path of progress. None before you left any money spinning business that can compared to Ibom Airline, celebrated as the pride of our State. Who can stop the Lord’s anointed? You are one propelled by the prayers of the saints all over the State. Those whose deaths were prevented by the 12 remodeled and equipped General Hospitals you scattered around the State. Above all, you kept your promise to us, that you will exit government peacefully after your tenure, allowing our Governor, the peace and stability with which to drive his laudable vision for our people. Those beating the drums are right in the bush, closer than one may imagine. But let me assure you, your traducers may bare their fangs, but they will never hurt you. In the Bible it is written that, there were a hundred and twenty men, who grew jealous because the king had chosen Daniel ahead of them. Sponsored blackmail and set him up. We all know their story and how it ended for the sponsors of the blackmails. Just as it is Lamentations 3:37 says, “Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?”

3rd March, 2025 BACKLOGS: COURT OF APPEAL PRESIDENT HOLDS SPECIAL COURT SITTINGS IN UYO The President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, CFR has led her Brother Justices in a special Court siting in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State. The special sitting hosted by the Calabar Division of the Court of Appeal, was set up by the President of the Court and scheduled to hold from the 3rd to the 7th of March, 2025, to help clear up backlog of cases in the Calabar Division of Court which also oversees cases from Uyo. To ensure the effective and prompt hearing of cases, Justices were also drawn from various Divisions of the Court to sit and hear cases brought before it. In a special welcome address to her learned Brother Justices, Hon. Justice Dongban-Mensem expressed gratitude to God Almighty for bringing them safely to Akwa Ibom State despite all odds. Noting that they are all in the State eager to do their jobs, the work that they do to the best of their abilities and to the glory of God Almighty. This she said is because they are not doing it unto human beings “whatever you do man will never appreciate, but God knows what we are doing and for me I know what we are doing, I know what we endure and I assure you that God Almighty will bless us in different ways” His Lordship equally brought to them the maternal greetings of the Hon. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat O. Kekere-Ekun, GCON, who extended her good will to all the Justices of the Court. Stating that she appreciates their commitment and the sacrifices that they make and prayed that everything will go on well with them in Uyo. His Lordship also stated in her address that the chief host has put in place good things that will keep them comfortable to the best of her ability. Adding that the Court of Appeal doesn’t have a Court in Uyo and she has observed that there are so many cases there. She thus appealed to the Justices to make do with the space that has been made available to them to work. She also appealed to them not to allow the special sitting go to waste: “please do not allow this special sitting be wasted, as much as possible hear all the appeals that has been listed so that our next coming will be to deliver judgement” His Lordship equally pleaded with them to bear with the lawyers as they are all working under difficult situations particularly in Uyo since the Court doesn’t really have its own facilities there. Wishing them good and peaceful deliberations and quick dispatch of their work, the President of the Court of Appeal noted that the special sitting has been organized in such a way that the justices can have their conference either in Uyo or when they go back to their respective Divisions. Encouraging them not to rush so that things are done right, She expressed confidence that they are all knowledgeable and have been discharging their duties compassionately and effectively. Praying that “the Lord God Almighty will continue to strengthen us and to bless and protect us in all that we do.” The President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem recognized the Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Uko Udom, SAN and the Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Ekaete F. Obot, appreciating them for their support while hoping that this outing will take off some burden from their dockets and those of other lawyers in the State. At the opening of the special sitting, speaking on behalf of Bar, Rev. Fr. Edwin Obiorah while welcoming the President and Justices of the Court of Appeal, said that they are honored that the President herself had to come in person. He said he was so happy and on behalf of the inner and outer Bar from the Uyo area, welcomed the President of the Court of Appeal who took her time and sees the jurisdiction as special to appear in person. “We thank you and the noble members of the Court of Appeal who are present, we thank you very much and we appreciate your presence” he said. The President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem who was sitting in a panel alongside Hon. Justice Peter O. Affen and Hon. Justice Abiodun A. Akinyemi welcomed her Brother Justices, lawyers and the general public to the special session. Stating that they are not new to such special sittings, but that this one stands out as it is the second one holding within the Calabar Division of the court within a month. Which shows the great importance attached to the Calabar Division since her taking note of the docket of the Division. Noting further that the first time they sat, was from the 10th to the 14th February 2025 in Calabar. His Lordship said it is no secret that despite the enduring hard work of the Justices of the Court of Appeal, they are still putting up with backlogs of cases. Stating that the convening of special sessions such as this, is an innovative transformation process that will hopefully lead to the decongestion of the Court’s dockets primarily, and in general, speedier and more efficient justice delivery. The President of the Court of Appeal also noted that other interventions are equally being made to deal with the age-old problem of never-ending case backlogs effectively. These measures she said, include the recruitment of more judicial officers and support staff, the proposed establishment of more court divisions, the building and refurbishment of more courts, and the adoption of technology to enhance the hearing of cases and the case management process, to mention a few. She equally brought to the attention of Counsel and litigants that the Court has Mediation Centers that has been very well received in the Port Harcourt Division, Lagos Division and the Abuja Division of the Court. Urging them to take advantage of it as mediation is a quick and fast way of resolving issues and leaving litigants still friends and good business partners including the lawyers as well. Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem said that in Calabar, there were a total of four panels that sat from Monday, the 10th to Friday, the 14th day of February, 2025. Adding that a total of Two Hundred and Twenty-four (224) Appeals were listed during the period and upon conclusion, Thirty-five (35) judgments were reserved, Seventy (70) Appeals were dismissed, Seventy-one (71) others were struck out/granted, while Forty-eight (48) Motions were adjourned. The real impact of these, she said, might not be felt with simple reference to figures but when viewed within the context that parties who have waited so long to have their day in court now know their fate, or will soon know their fate, enables them to conclude that justice has been served and the years of waiting for the litigants in these 245 appeals have now or will soon come to an end. Noting that indeed some can continue with their lives while others may continue to pursue legitimate means of further appeal to the apex court. “In either case while our determination and insistence that these matters be heard may potentially be regarded as somewhat extreme, our resolve to power through these cases serves as helpful reminder to practitioners and litigants alike that we have resolved to do what is within our means and the scope of the Court’s power in respect of cases before us to uphold the principle that there must be finality to litigation.” The President of the Court of Appeal said that as a follow-up to the success in Calabar, the Court has now converged in Uyo, and this time, with 49 Justices sitting in 16 different panels. Appreciating her colleagues she said; “I find it expedient to offer some words of appreciation, and to sincerely express my gratitude for the exceptional efforts my colleagues put in during the special Calabar session. As valued justices of the Court of Appeal family, i appreciate their dedication and acknowledge their hard work and unparalleled commitment to attaining justice. “I want to take a moment to highlight the Justices exceptional commitment to ensuring that justice is done at all times, which is truly remarkable. Once again, I thank my hardworking colleagues and the lawyers. “I want to specially thank the Justices who have shown up for this exercise. I can never appreciate their commitment enough knowing the hardship that we endure in traveling and the difficulty working suddenly outside your normal habitat. It takes time to settle down but we come in and move straight into the Court do our work and go back with loads of work.” Noting that the Justices are never idle as they are working very hard, she said she continues to urge everyone to give their best while calling on the lawyers to also appreciate the Justices commitment so that when they stand up in Court, they won’t start asking for an adjournment of their cases and failing to argue their appeals. His Lordship emphasized on the need for lawyers to always read the rules of court and have it with them in Court. Because coming to Court without the rules is like going to the farm without a hoe. Stating that if they take time to read the rules of the Court, they will discover that many things are put in there that will make their work a lot easier which they have to discover themselves. His Lordship said: “As we look forward to the days ahead with fortitude and hope for the best, I call on the lawyers whose cases have been listed for hearing to come prepared with their best foot forward. In pursuing justice, lawyers remain vital gatekeepers, saddled with an abiding duty to assist the court in upholding the principles of fairness, equality, and the rule of law. “Just like we judges, the role of lawyers in the administration of justice is instrumental and vital in ensuring that legal rights are protected, legal processes are adhered to, and justice is ultimately served. Counsel have a higher calling than merely representing clients. It is therefore incumbent on lawyers first and foremost to the constitute the court to ensure the smooth administration of justice. I urge all lawyers whose appeals have been listed for hearing to keep these at the back of their minds so we can all get the best from this exercise. “There will be no allowance for adjournments and no room for motions as this sitting will be strictly for serious business leading to disposal of appeals". His Lordship expressed her profound appreciation to the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division Hon. Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam and her great team for the tremendous work done first in Calabar and now in Akwa Ibom. Stating that her organizational prowess in both instances, in no small measure, has led to the successes achieved so far in Calabar and hopefully here in Uyo. The President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, also extended the greetings and goodwill of the Hon. The Chief Justice of Nigeria My Lord Justice Kekere-Ekun, GCON, who gave the Justices of the Court of Appeal her blessing and prayed fervently that everything that they have come to do in Uyo will be successful. She equally extended her goodwill to all the lawyers and the good people of Akwa Ibom. “With these words of appreciation, success, and hope, I should not forget to profoundly appreciate the Hon. The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Justice Ekaete F. Obot who has virtually shutdown the Akwa Ibom High Court and also committed her time and the support of her Judges to ensure that we settle down quickly to our work. “I believe the lawyers also appreciate the gesture of the Hon. The Chief Judge because all the work we do, if we don’t take the appeals, their efforts may not translate to much since most of their decisions are subject to two tiers of appeals. So the earlier and the quicker we take these appeals and then you move to the Supreme Court, the better. “And when you have this three tiers of adjudication, it opens up room for you, those of you who aspire to become learned silk like Dr. Obiorah and those of you who aspire to come to the bench, you have sufficient materials at hand to put forward for consideration for your elevation whichever way you want.” Speaking on behalf of all the Justices of the Court of Appeal particularly her learned Brothers Hon. Justice Peter O. Affen and Hon. Justice Abiodun A. Akinyemi, she wished them all good luck and believed that they shall have a seamless sitting and come out with results that will be pleasing to some. “I know whatever we do some people will not be happy but at least maybe our decisions will put an end to the ordeals of some and it will open up the way for others to move forward whichever way we are happy we did at least let’s put an end to something thank you very much”. She concluded. Bring the day’s sitting to a close, Hon. Justice Peter O. Affen thanked everyone for the proceedings so far and appreciated God for being able to bring the day’s proceedings to a close. For the matters that were adjourned, he hoped that they would be taken before the end of the special sitting. He equally thanked the registry staff for the job they have done and looked forward to more as the special sitting continues.

HOW GOV ENO”s POLITICAL INCLUSIVITY DOCKED AT ASO ROCK By Aniekan Umanah ———————————— In the grand theatre of Nigeria’s political landscape, few performances are as meticulously choreographed as a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa. For Akwa Ibom State, February signed off on a good note. On February 28, 2025, the stage was set for a 104-member delegation of Akwa Ibom stakeholders, led by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio to pay homage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The 104 delegates ensemble cast across party lines , featuring political luminaries, traditional monarchs, religious leaders, and representatives from various societal strata, first assembled at the Akwa Ibom State Governors lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The next stop was the Presidential Villa’s banquet hall side as early as 1:00 PM. The accreditation process unfolded with the precision of a well-rehearsed symphony, culminating in the delegation’s transit through the pilot gate into the hallowed chamber of the presidential wing. State House protocol and security personnel, ever the unsung heroes of such occasions, orchestrated the proceedings with commendable finesse and meticulous discharge of their duty. However, as the clock ticked past the scheduled 2:00 PM rendezvous, anticipation gave way to a gentle hum of anxiety. At precisely 2:30 PM, the State House Director of Information, Oche, took to the microphone, his voice resonating through the chamber with the authority of a town crier. “ Your Excellencies , Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. President will be here soon. He was penning accent to the the nation”s 2025 Appropriation Law, he announced. You could say Akwa Ibom was a witness to prelude of the anticipated burgeoning economy which the 2025 Budget signposts. But that is not the story. The delegation settled into a rhythm of emphatic communion, subdued conversations and occasional forays into the art of people-watching while others made their way to chambers arcade for coffee and some snacks . The atmosphere brightened at 4:00 PM with the arrival of Governor Umo Eno, whose entrance was marked by a congenial exchange of pleasantries. He appeared in a light green studded lace adorned with well crafted ornaments and decked a hat with an ARISE crest. He was accompanied by his predecessor, former Governor Udom Emmanuel who had on a white well knit lace with the accompanying htraditional Dakkada encrusted hat. Their camaraderie set a tone of unity and continuity. Five minutes later, precisely 4.05 pm the room buzzed anew as Senate President Godswill Akpabio made his appearance. He had a dark blue flowing agbada on with an “olumegbon” hat. With the ease of a seasoned politician, he navigated the head area of the Federal Executive Council Chambers.engaging in brief but hearty interactions starting from his wife , Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and other top dignitaries. His presence added a layer of gravitas to the gathering. The atmosphere suddenly got officious and secret service men were. noticed. At exactly 4.10 pm, was when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu , GCFR made a bold Presidential entry into the FEC Chambers. Clad in an immaculate white fitting and studed “agbada” lace and his traditional BAT hat radiating warmth and authority that have become his hallmark. In a strict order of events, the national anthem was taken and Governor Eno was scheduled to give the introductory remarks . At 4.17 pm Pastor Umo Eno rose to his feet to address the gathering, but Mr President quipped quickly “ you may sit down Governor. This is family meeting “ He did and presented his 20-month scorecard detailing the state’s strides in development. He seized the moment to solicit federal support for the Ibom Deep Seaport project and interventions to mitigate ecological challenges, notably the menacing gully erosion threatening infrastructure. The Governor extended an invitation to President Tinubu to commission the ARISE Resort and pivotal road projects slated for completion in May 2025. This was swiftly followed by the conferment of the Traditional Title of "Otuekong Akwa Ibom" on the President by The Oku Ibom Ibibio III, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk who, on behalf of the traditional rulers conferred upon the President Akwa Ibom’s highest traditional title, “Otuekong” (Commander-in-Chief of Akwa Ibom State). It was next for the Senate President , Godswill Akpabio to speak. He addressed President Tinubu by his newest chieftaincy title "Otuekong" and applause took over the Chamber. He commended Governor Eno for fostering unity in the State, expressing his elation at witnessing such cohesion. “Words will fail me if I am to describe how elated I am today. This is the first time the blue and white have come together. I come from home, I can see my people from divides here. Akwa Ibom has demonstrated the brotherhood we stand for, and it is the governor that has made this possible.” He assured President Tinubu of Akwa Ibom’s support for his administration, pledging that the political leadership in the State would work towards further reconciliation and collaboration. Mr. President who had listened very attentively amidst nods gave his response. He reminisced on his days in Eket as an ExMobil auditor, reinforcing his longstanding connection to the State. He stressed the importance of political leaders prioritizing national development over party affiliations and commended Governor Umo Eno for showing such example. “Nigeria’s full potential can only be realized through unity and collective action.” Commending Governor Umo Eno’s leadership, President Tinubu declared, “You have a very good governor, and he has the fear of God and love for his people.” He praised Akwa Ibom’s bipartisan collaboration and reassured the delegation of the federal government’s support, noting, “I have just signed the 2025 budget. I am happy that the uncertainty over the economy is fading, and hope is rising. I have had your concerns about the Deep Sea Port Project and others . Thank you for always staying with us. We must work together to build the nation.” As the formalities concluded, Senate President Akpabio, ever the gracious host, extended an invitation to the delegation for a reception in their honour. The gathering, held at a high-profile venue within Abuja, provided an opportunity for the delegates to unwind after a long day of political discourse. Amid traditional delicacies, informal conversations, and strategic networking, the event further cemented the spirit of camaraderie that had defined the visit. The high-profile delegation included Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Helen Eno-Ibareki; former Governor Udom Emmanuel; senators and members of the National Assembly; Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong; Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Obong Emen Ekperikpe Ekpo; and State Chairmen of the PDP and APC, Rt. On the other hand, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris , Minister of Petroleum ( Gas ) Rt Hom. Ekperikpe Ekpo, joined the host, President Tinubu in the meeting. As the delegation departed the Presidential Villa and later the reception, it was evident that this was more than a ceremonial visit; it was a testament to the power of unity and collaborative governance. It was indeed a family meeting. The Akwa Ibom stakeholders left with renewed optimism, buoyed by assurances of federal partnership in their developmental endeavors. In the grand tapestry of Nigeria’s polity, today’s engagement added a vibrant thread, in Governor Umo Eno”s political inclusivity mantra , weaving together themes of tradition, progress, and collective aspiration. Governor Umo Eno, the exemplary leader and model governor, made that possible.

Senator Godswill Akpabio's Hands in Smear Campaigns and Petitions Against Mr. Udom Emmanuel Is it now the duty of the National Assembly to probe the Akwa Ibom state immediate past government? I highly doubt it. The National Assembly's primary role is to focus on federal matters, exercising oversight functions over the federal government and its agencies. While they can investigate matters of national interest, probing a state government's actions is typically the responsibility of the State House of Assembly. In Akwa Ibom State's case, the State House of Assembly is responsible for overseeing the state government's activities, including investigating any alleged wrongdoing by the immediate past government. It's concerning to see the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, involved in smear campaigns against Mr. Udom Emmanuel. This raises questions about the motivations behind such actions. It is now confirmed that Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President from Akwa Ibom, is still expressing bitterness against his successor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel. This bitterness is driving him to allegedly sponsor all the petitions and smear campaigns against him. Akpabio's actions have raised eyebrows, especially considering his position as Senate President. Instead of focusing on federal matters, he seems to be fixated on discrediting his successor. This obsession has led to allegations that Akpabio is manipulating the system to settle personal scores. If allegations involve federal agencies or national interests, the National Assembly may have a role to play. However, in general.

A PETITION AGAINST MR. UDOM EMMANUEL TO THE EFCC IS SENATOR AKPABIO'S CONTINUED ANNIHILATION OF THE IBIBIO PEOPLE Recently, some miscreants who choose to call themselves NETWORK AGAINST CORRUPTION, have risen, at the behest and prompting of the Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio, to insult the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel on social media platforms. Those young men with questionable characters are simply acting a script written for them by their paymaster, Senator Akpabio, an Annang man, who has a penchant, and he's hellbent to bring down prominent Ibibio politicians in line with his vow to bring Ibibio at parity with minority ethnic groups in the State. It was Akpabio's 'anthem' while he was the governor that "by the time he shall leave office as governor there would be nothing like majority ethnic group in the State." Because of this mindset, Mr. Akpabio as governor had to fight and ensure the removal of Ambassador Sam Edem from office as Chairman of NDDC. He alleged everything against the man, and even paid the media to testify against him. Akpabio has on several times and media been accused by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe as being responsible for his removal from office as Minister of State for FCT, despite the fact that it was this same Akpanudoedehe who was instrumental to his governorship, even against the wishes of his Annang people. As governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akpabio insulted and humiliated his predecessor and benefactor, Obong Victor Attah. He called him names and paid some hoodlums and political scallywags to insult him, and even denied the man the use of Le Meridien Hotel for his 71st birthday celebration, in spite of the fact that Le Meridien Hotel and Golf Course were built by Obong Attah. As governor, Akpabio humiliated Obong Umana Umana and Obong Nsima Ekere out of office as SSG and Deputy Governor respectively because of his penchant to disgrace every Ibibio politician. During his tenure as governor, prominent Ibibio politicians and business men were either kidnapped or killed, and some were kidnapped and killed at the same time. General Edet Akpan, Her Excellency Mrs. Sam Ewang, and over 100 others were kidnapped, while Madam Philomena Udonwa, Barr. Imo Udonwa, Mr. Paul Inyang, Mrs. Maria Ikpe, among others were killed because of their divergent political views (which were pro-Ibibio) during Akpabio's time as governor. Despite the atrocities he committed during his tenure as governor, we were happy that our son is the number 3 man in Nigeria because of his position as the Senate President, and thought he would use the position to better the lots of Akwa Ibom people. Instead of using his position to attract development to the State, Senator Akpabio rather uses it to divide the State along ethnic lines, and uses it to enhance his evil business of stampeding the Ibibio people, which is the reason he is sponsoring a group made up of a non-Akwa Ibom person and two of his Annang brothers to commence an attack on Mr. Udom Emmanuel (the only Ibibio man left). The reason why Akpabio is sponsoring attacks on Mr. Udom Emmanuel is to "deal" with Mr. Udom so that a way could be paved for him and his cohorts to humiliate Pastor Umo Eno out of office in 2027. Senator Akpabio has been bragging that he cannot be a Senate President without installing an APC governor in his State. And that he would do anything to win Akwa Ibom State for the APC in 2027. Thus, in his thinking, the only way to have an APC governor is to blackmail Mr. Udom Emmanuel (an Ibibio son) whom he feels and knows has the necessary connection, wit and strategy to "detonate" his "bomb" against Gov. Umo Eno in 2027. The so-called "petition to the EFCC against Mr. Udom Emmanuel" is a decoy by Akpabio to divert attention from his actual game plan. He knows Mr. Udom Emmanuel has not stolen a kobo from Akwa Ibom State. We dare say that the only person that has some questions to answer from the EFCC is Senator Akpabio who seem to forget how Mr. Udom Emmanuel used his office as the governor to block the EFCC from investigating him (Akpabio) against the wishes of the majority of the people of the State who were aware of how the State's funds were spent on frivolities by Akpabio. It is Akpabio that deserves to be reported to the EFCC to account for the 31 industries he said he would build without building, yet money meant for them were taken out from the State's coffers. And lot more. Therefore, we wish to warn Mr. Senate President to cage his mad dogs led by the prodigal son of Delta State who refuses to ply his dubious trade in his (Delta ) State, but chooses to allow himself to be used by the enemies of the Ibibio people. Henceforth, Senator Akpabio should stop attacking Ibibio sons, directly or by proxies. The Senate President is hereby warned to desist from his evil agenda against the Ibibio people, albeit through proxies, because we the Ibibios are ready to resist it vehemently. We dare! Signed by Nelson Utip Spokesperson IBIBIO FRONT

By Imoh Etimudo Beyond the bulky trucks of Bulk Purchase Agency that move from one local government area to another, distributing food to the people, especially the vulnerable, farmers in Akwa Ibom State are busy cultivating their farms in line with the policies of Governor Umo Eno in agriculture to achieve food sufficiency and showcase the status of Akwa Ibom State as a reputable food basket in Nigeria. Governor Umo Eno came with lofty ideas condensed to a great vision for agriculture, and there is a likeable revolution in the sector in the State. It is an intentional effort of the governor for the State to attain food sufficiency and food security, barnishing hunger from the land. While marketing his manifesto for the people of the State ahead of his election, Governor Eno was emphatic that he was going to ensure that the full value chain of agriculture is achieved in the State; he is achieving that achievement for his people. That is seen clearly in the acronym, A.R.I.S.E which is the governance bible and leadership compass of his administration, where the first alphabet, "A" stands for agriculture. Agriculture is not just the leader of the pack in cosmetics or rubrics of rheotric, it is gaining first class attention from the governor, and was among his first port of call when he assumed office. Governor Eno was the leader of a delegation to Songhai Farm in Port Novo, Benin Republic to understudy the secret of the success story of that investment. Today, a replica of it is emerging in Ibom Model Farms, which can pass for a modern day Garden of Eden. Ibom Model Farms is an integrated farm modelled after Songhai Farm which focuses on crop and livestock with capacity for training and potential for tourism. Very importantly, it aids technology transfer. Governor Eno's policy has made agriculture an interesting, exciting and respectable occupation, throwing up high profile and emerging private entrepreneurs in agriculture. He has given agriculture a new look, a new image and indeed a new name - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with a competent professional, Dr (Mrs)Offiong Offor as the Commissioner in charge. The vision of Governor Eno for agriculture is that more farmers in the State will go for tractors and harvesters than they go for hoes and machetes. That is why government has perfected plans to set up equipment leasing yard to support farmers in the cultivation of massive hectares of land. Meanwhile, farmers are supported with agricultural machinery to aid land preparations for farming in addition to receiving farm inputs, agrochemicals, access to finance and benefitting from the services of agricultural extension officers. The ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is encouraging farmers to form themselves into co-operative groups for ease of accessibility to government incentives as well as monitoring their progress by the ministry. These clusters make it easy for the distribution of of farm inputs and agric loans as well as seed multipliers. Governor Eno's revolution in agriculture is holistic. It covers all forms of agriculture from crop production to fishing, poultry and general livestock. There is sustained distribution of livestock to farmer's multipurpose co-operative societies such as goats, pigs, fingerlings, and birds for those in poultry farming. Those in crop production often receive improved varieties of their crops covering cassava cuttings, pumpkin seeds, coconut seedlings and maize seeds. Cash crops much as oil palm, cocoa and even those into rice cultivation are given the necessary support to enable them make good yield with attendant profits. At intervals, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development often harvest cassava from their demonstration farms, process and sell to the people at reduced prices in an effort to help reduce high cost of staple foods in the market. The Umo Eno administration has undertaken the distribution of solar irrigation pumps to farmers for watering their farms. There are many agricultural interventions to support the farmers. These interventions are meant to change unproductive conventions such as farm fragmentations that often impede mechanization. In his wisdom and good intentions, Governor Eno had merged rural development with agriculture. Hence, the aggressive rural development through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) has equally added value to what has been achieved in the agricultural sector. There is strong initiatives and policies to tie agriculture to industrialization in line with the value chain promised by the Governor. That is why the governor visited the Akwa Palms Industry with a view to bringing it to functionality. The governor is passionate about making the people see agriculture as a culture. To this end, civil servants are given work-free days known as farm days where they are expected to go to their farms. There is a loveable mental shift on prioritizing agriculture and making it look attractive and lucrative for even the young people. This leads to the acceptable invasion of secondary schools and other institutions for awareness and and re-orientation on the importance of agriculture, and that it is not an occupation of shame but a calling to be proud of. Even the local government councils are not left out. They have farms and equally donate lands to the State Government for agricultural purposes. Farmers are at the verge of receiving financial grants to invest in their farms for optimum productivity. This is in furtherance to the Governor's philosophy that there is no alternative to farming. Hence, everyone should return to the farm. Therefore, while the food distribution programme is appreciated especially as it has put smiles on hitherto frowned faces, Governor Eno has urged Akwa Ibom people to see it as a stop-gap arrangement and not a permanent thing. They are to liken the gesture as manna, knowing that manna does not fall everyday. What to do? Return to the farm. The governor is giving them every support to achieve this. Truly, Governor Umo Eno has done extremely well in agriculture in Akwa Ibom State, that one is save to say that Akwa Ibom State is an emerging beautiful food basket. Governor Eno is weaving that basket with golden materials. It shall be filled with food from the anticipated bumper harvest from the farm, and hunger shall have no place in the land. Food will not just be available, it will be accessible and affordable in Akwa Ibom State, enormous enough to feed the people and for exports. Imoh Etimudo writes from Itu Mbonuso in Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

GOV ENO RECEIVES TWO ADDITIONAL AIRCRAFTS FOR IBOM AIR…PROMISES MORE SURPRISES FOR CRITICS Governor Umo Eno, has celebrated the addition of two new CRJ 900 Bombardier series aircrafts to Ibom Air’s fleet, with a promise to flag off more new projects in the coming weeks.
