Car TalkPlease Help!my Golf 3 Would Not Start Except I Turtle Down by imoci(op): 11:00am On Nov 17, 2015
Experience people please help me,i have been driving my golf 3 beautifully until recently when
i started experiencing hard start.i need to press down the accelerator pedal while trying to start the car and this take some few minutes and it will almost run down my battery before it will eventually start.

The funniest thing is that it only happens once the engine cools down.for example when i start it in the morning and i put it off for like say 30 minutes it starts immediately, put the reverse is the case if i allow the engine to cool down say 3-4 hours.

two mechanics i invited have asked me to replace the carburetor, its an electric carburetor.

please is there any one in the house who has experienced similar issue.
i need advise please.

Car TalkCar Hard Starting. by imoci(op): 1:19pm On Nov 12, 2015
good day guys,i drive a golf 3 which run smooth on the road until one morning when i was about to drive out only to find out that
car would not start.i had to turle while trying to start which normally last up to 3 to 4 minutes before it will finally start.

I took it to mechanic and i was asked to buy injector cleaner which was used to clean the carburetor (its and electric carburetor).

The cleaning did not solve the problem as same was experienced on daily basis.some one suspected the key fibre and i was advised to call on a rewire for replacement this i did and the key fibre was replaced. i started my car normally for two days and i was about to feel a sign of relieve when the next morning the same problem started again.i immediately called on the rewire and he said he woul take the car to where he bought the key fiber so they can replace it there and then.to cut long story short it was replaced and after three days same issue started again.

i called him yesterday and he said he suspect the carburetor,he said i will need to call on a mechanic to service the carburetor or possibll replace it.

pls i need help could this be the problem i need advise on this issue.

spyder880:
This thread is opened to document the processes of building a small 5 bedroom duplex in a rural area in Nigeria. It is a thread to promote affordable housing for those willing to construct their homes at the lowest costs possible, while imbibing the best engineering practices.

We did not decide to mold our own blocks here, instead, there is no block industry around this town, so we have to make our own blocks in this location. I am not going to include the cost of clearing this site, as the conditions here might be different from that in many other sites.

We have made about 3,400 blocks of 9" to start this foundation, and the costs of making the blocks are as follows;

1. Bags of cement N1,750 x 120 = N210,000
2. Workmanship for making the blocks N600 x 120 bags = N72,000
3. Trips of sharp sand N8000 X 12 trips = N96,000
4. Carriage and packing of the blocks N 30,000
5. Security and misc. N10,000
Total cost for making 3,400 blocks is N418,000 (this means that each block here was produced with N122.94 only)

Another cost we have incurred here is a well for water supply. This well was done for N120,000, everything including workmanship and plastering works.

This will mean that we have spent N418,000 + N120,000 = N538,000 so far even before starting the foundation of this house.

Thanks to every one for your kind contribution and suggestions.

I was told to dig soakway so that i can use the excavated sand to fill. That way the quantity and cost of buying laterite will be minimised.

BUT how long can i leave an already excavated soakaway unattended to.can it be left for a whole year.
