I admire your spirit. Do not ever give up. All of this will only make your testimony sweeter to hear. May God crown your efforts with success. It will all end in praise, in Jesus name. Amen. Mrs O, mycanadianfling blog Algbenguze: I have to retake it. I'll enter the pool meanwhile with the 1st result (with PNP in mind), remark the 2nd and register for another test. It was those yeye T,F, NG and Matching Heading questions o. Trying to save time, I had left 2 stubborn questions unanswered, planning to return after but still ran out of time before I could go back. Just as I wanted to guess and put something down, the invigilator, who was close by, stopped us and started looking in my direction. I was caught between either obeying the rules OR putting down something (with whatever consequences to follow) but unfortunately the 'good boy' inside me prevailed. It was very painful considering it was this same Reading that made me retake in d 1st place. My hands were literally on my head as they collected my answer sheet. I was demoralized and just managed to pull through the Writing section. In fact, one voice inside me said there was no need continuing with the test. I just taya! With that I knew I had goofed but was expecting I wouldn't get more than another 4 answers wrong. Unfortunately, BC thinks otherwise. |

Thanks for the clarification. Mrs O, mycanadianfling blog toyogirl: I checked with a friend who is currently @ Windsor...He reconfirmed the high quality of Catholic schools but stated that anyone choosing to settle in the GTA has to present baptismal certificates for parents (husband or wife wd suffice) & children.. |

Thank you for this. I guess I will have to check. Mrs O, mycanadianfling blog salford1: I inquired with a new Catholic school (opening in sept) not too far from my place in Calgary. I was told that I need to show baptisimal certificate...without that, we would be put on standby till they cater for all Catholic faith pupils. |

Thank you! Thank you! This is extremely useful. I believe the new rule makes a lot of sense, and I hope that this eventually gets implemented across Canada. Mrs O, mycanadianfling blog TheCongo2: Actually the rule of enrollement into catholic schools have changed. Three years ago, one would need to show a baptismal certificate to enrol the kids in catholic schools but now this is no longer a requirement. Anyone can enrol his/her kids in catholic school so long as the person agrees to the fact that his/her kids will be introduced to the catholic faith by the school. My kids do attend a catholic school in London, Ontario. I was never asked to show any baptismal certificate when I first enrolled them 2 years ago given the change of the rule. But a year earlier a baptismal certificate was required.
But to be on the safe side, people should still check with the Catholic school board of the City where they intend to move to. Maybe this change has been implemented only in some jurisdictions and not across Canada. |

Dear pauloverdi, I am not yet in Canada but thought to share some of the feedback I had received from friends on some of the matters raised: 1. School - The two families I spoke with thought it best for school age kids (age 4 and above) to come in time for the September school resumption. They even suggested coming in August so that the kids could settle down a bit, and maybe even start to mingle with other neighbourhood kids in the parks or at swimming pools. All these just to get the kids well adjusted in time for the new term. Also, you need to have your full immunisation records of the kids with you when you arrive, as all schools will require this. If you want your kids to attend Catholic schools (some of the best schools in Canada are Catholic), then you would need to show a baptismal certificate. You should have yours available for inspection as proof of you/your kids' Catholic faith during enrollment. 2. Weather - The feedback was also that summer was better to arrive in Canada so that one would be present as the weather gradually changed and got colder. More like allowing winter to gradually happen, as opposed to the shock of coming into Canada in the biting cold of December. I hope the above helps, and apologies in advance if this is not helpful. As I said earlier, we have not relocated yet, but we are doing a bit of research from Nigeria, and this is the output of said research Mrs. O, mycanadianfling blog pauloverdi: Thanks for all the wonderful posts so far. Very insightful. God bless u guys. My pr visa is valid till March and I would really love to hold on till January before I move. However impending school resumption in September for the kids and associated costs coupled with rent being due as early as December is making me consider leaving earlier. Please I'd like to get advice from someone who arrived canada with their family in the ember months. Bc to be precise. Was it easy getting the kids into school immediately or were there aNY special protocols to observe? Considering the earlier factors I stated should I wait till next yr (though I can move earlier but would love to do so in a more "tidy" fashion)? Im trying to book our flight tickets so I'm really trying to avoid a situation where ill be pressed to reschedule at the last minute. Me and wifey can quit our jobs easy... nothing stopping us. However my pals over there say the cold might b a concern and d best apartments are taken before September by students... just want to here some naija canadian tots on the matter |

Thanks yetty. Just a few follow on question in respect of the highlighted portion: 1. What happens if I am not looking for work at all? Am I then ineligible to apply for the subsidy? 2. What happens if I do not find work after 60 days, but can show that I have been actively looking? Thanks in advance. Mrs. O, mycanadianfling blog yettyopy: The way the subsidy work is they use taxes filed after a year of working to calculate how much you should pay in a day for daycare . So if you just moved here and have not worked for a year, you probably wont pay anything as said by a friend i made here. As for me , hubby has been working here for a year so we will have to pay some amount. Although the subsidy office gives you 40-60 days to find a job once your child starts daycare. |

Hi Virt, I did a Google search, and saw this post https://www.nairaland.com/1279130/canadian-federal-skilled-worker-program-timelines/109. While it does not say how to go about using WES to evaluate your Madonna Uni degree, the members referred the poster to CES and ICAS. I hope this helps. Mrs. O, mycanadianfling blog Virt: Thanks for all the encouragements from this thread.
I just got my IELTS results - LSRW- 8,8,7.5,7 with CRS score now at 409. What are my chances of getting NOI from Ontario for NOC 1111 - Accountants and Auditors, since it was mostly IT Nocs that received NOI in June.
Also, how do I search this thread for specific information without reading through each page, this is because I need info about WES evaluation of Madonna University Certificates. In 2014, WES said that they do not evaluate academic records from Madonna universities, and so declined evaluating mine, but I heard recently that they do now. I don't know how true this is. Please can anyone confirm this? or show me how to search this thread fo such info.
Thanks very much in advance. |

Sorry about this. Take heart and keep your head up bro. Mrs. O, mycanadianfling blog. bigbroda: Really angry and feeling devastated right now. July 8th exam result just came out and it was a mess up for me. LSRW-7.5,7,6.5,7.5. Feel so hurt and tired of the whole thing. Ain't doing dat exam again perhaps for now. Gotta take a break, Ontario might call while chilling being an IT person with 381 which is possibly hitting 390 after spouse's ECA or EE cut off just come down to 390 while I believe will happen someday from a personal study. I will be glad to embrace any of the stated options.
Gotta take a break but before dat lemme ask for a remark in listening and reading. Who knows, something good might come outta dat cos I'm a bit optimistic about it especially for the listening.
Guyz, can someone please list all the steps involved in asking for a remark biko. Dat's all I need for now.

Thanks ma'am. I definitely found this helpful, and consistent with some tidbits of advice we had gotten earlier. For the daycare which you mentioned is almost free (after subsidy), how many days a week is this for? And for how many hours a day? Mrs. O, mycanadianfling blog yettyopy: Hello Everyone,
I am new on this platform but will like to render advise to the mums relocating to Canada soon as i moved from naija to toronto about 4 months ago. I have a 6 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. Kids cant start school until they turn 4, so for mums that intend to start work once they get here, *make sure you immediately register your child in the daycare as most day cares have a very long wait-list . *Also register your child for subsidy as the government subsidizes the daycare fee which for new comers its mostly free the first year . This also has a wait-list that might take a months. *For Pr holders , health is free but you are only entitled to a health card after being a resident for 3 months . So if you or your kids have any medications you have been on back home in naija please bring it along or else you will pay a doctor's fee of $65-$100 depending on the walk-in clinic . The doctor's fee isn't inclusive of medication. *If you are coming in the summer, try to visit the nearest community centres near you as they have a lot of fantastic programmes for adults and kids e.g drop-in for early years, parent relief ,etc.
This is all i can remember for now. I hope someone on this platform finds this helpful . |

Thank you papaking1. This has been very helpful. We may look into this, or travel with blankets papaking1: You will be fine in Cassablanca.
You may need to book a hotel to stay during the wait at Montreal because the airport is very cold with the numerous ACs. We had to dig into our bags to get out wrappers to cover our kids as I didn't want to go to a hotel. But the option of a hotel is available.
Once you are cleared at the point of entry, you can do as you please because you are already officially a PR |

Dear phf2be ank kemkem, I feel you both. We were in your shoes in November 2015, and we decided to go down the O-PNP route. Tbh, our decision was made easier because the last draws at the time had been 489 and higher, while our score was in the early 420s. We sometimes wonder if we should have waited patiently then and saved the $1500, especially when we think of how long we had to wait to get PPR and CoPR. Our friends who got ITA in February 2017 already have their PPR! But we had no way of knowing back then, and we made an informed decision based on the information that we had available to us then. If we had to do it all over again, we would do the exact same thing. My point is that there is no right or wrong decision here. There is no certainty that the cut-off will go back down to the 413 levels we have recently witnessed. However, this outcome is more probable now than it was in November 2015 given recent precedents. I would agree with Algbenguze and say that you should wait till the end of the 60 + 14 day validity period before taking a decision. Whatever decision you take, know that you are one step closer to your Canadian Dream! Wishing you all the best, and God's grace and wisdom. phf2be: At 424, shouldn't I just take this NOI from Ontario and run? Is there hope for ITA? |

Wow!!! Just what I wanted to read. We just paid for our tickets to Ottawa this afternoon, and the length of the layover, coupled with the flight time out of Lagos had me soooo bothered! Glad to know that we will be fine. We have a toddler, so I am a bit concerned about his comfort during the layovers in Casablanca and then in Montreal. Were there any play areas for kids by any chance? Also, was there the option to come out of the airport at Montreal to go to a nearby hotel for the night? @bolded, omg! I cannot wait to hear those golden words. It is well, so thankful to God for bringing us all this far. papaking1: We left Lagos about 6:35am and landed in Casablanca after 10:am. From there a bus drove us to a place with lots of chairs and a free wifi where we rested for about 6 hours till we were later driven again to the airport to checkin to Motreal.
We were fed four times. On the trip to Cassablanca, at the waiting hall and two time during the flight to Montreal.
I was most impressed by the way the flight crew attended to a white lady who was having health issue. they went all out to help the lady regain consciousness. she was handed to proper doctors immediately the plane landed at Montreal.
We got to Montreal around 8:30pm and after we cleared with immigration and had our PR paper signed, we had to wait till 5:am inside the airport to check in with Air Canada to board a flight to Winnipeg.
The most interesting part of the journey was when the immigration officer signed our papers and said "Congratulation, you now have all the rights of a Canadian citizen except the right to vote." |
