Good people of Nairaland, please I need your help, I don't really know if this is the right section to post this...
A man sent me a friend request on facebook and I accepted, his profile said he's from Amsterdam, Netherlands. So he asked me of some of my info and said we should be good friends and he asked if I have an apple phone so that we'd do iChat and I told him I don't that am just a student in the uni and that it's expensive to afford by the average Nigerian. So he said he'd buy one and send for me, I told him, what about if he sends the money then I buy it here but he said HE WAS BANNED FROM SENDING MONEY ACROSS TO AFRICA. Then I said if he can ship it no problem. Now, this evening he told me he has sent it together with a laptop and that in the morning I should call the number on a receipt he sent to me so that I'd communicate with the waybill agent.


I'm feeling as if it's a scam and they may request for money from me(although I've promised myself that I won't spend N5 on it)
He has only 2 facebook pictures and his friends were hidden

The moment they left, the security people arrived saying 'Come out Come out; we are here'. Houses had been burnt and people had been killed. Some were set on fire in their house.
It is delusion of grandeur for any group of people to think that millions of christians in Nigeria will suddenly disappear. It is a symptom of madness.

even having D in all is still the same thing in the 10 8 8 stuff. If you have lost it already, then there's no way out, you A's will only improve hour GP and stop you from being sent home

ouch! sorry about that, it's not the end. there's always a way out for anyone that fails to give up. Try all you can and make your CGPA to be above 1.0 at the end of second semester so you are not sent home. Maybe after getting to a new department, you can still settle to rewrite JAMB if you still want Mech.Eng, so far you don't give up on your dreams you can still make it

how does 10 8 8 work pls. I had only one f in mat121but e in mat111 and phy113 does that mean im gone from engineering?

you know the three MATs (111, 112, 121) are 3 Credit Units =9 plus the two STA of 2credit units =4
4+9=13
so out of this 13 you must make 10. ie if you are having an F it must be just 1 of the three 3credit unit (either 111, 112, 121). If u have 2 Fs, you are affected already.


same applies for the PHY (113, 100, 123, 126)=10credit units, u must make 8 ie u can fail only one which is 2 unit(either 100, or 123)

and for CHM(111, 112, 191, 121) = 10 credit units. if u must fail any one it should only be one of the 2unit - either 112 or 191)


So... if u failed MAT111, you must not fail MAT112 and MAT121, STA117 and STA127 (if u failed any two from the MAT/STA category, you are affected.

same applies to the CHM and PHY

This is one of the reasons why u did not do well in ur first semester bro. Move to the Campus hostel (if there s anyone in ur school), tell ur self d honest truth to change ur ways and spend more time with academics. As for making a First Class in Mechanical Engineering, it is not possible. Good luck.

I stay off campus, missed some lectures (studied them myself) because going for lectures is waste since I'd stay at the back and won't hear the lecturer - because the whole engineering are together for year 1 and I can't leave my house by 6am for 9am lecture because going by 7:30am you would sit at the back still. and I made a strong 2.1 in the same Engineering, same school _ I never d friends though except my lodge mates. I even know some off campus guys with 4.7+

we haven't started any mechanical courses. We just did basic mat phy and chem with some gst courses last semester.

My problem i identified is that i sat at the back seat and didnt read that much.

you for attend tutorials na and then study any topic wey they lecture and you no understand (and meet others if need be).
u really need to work hard/smart This semester. Eat past questions as much as your brain can take and attend tutorials (find just one and attend: don't attend NIFES today, FCS next week, RCCG upper week etc so u don't get yourself confused by different methods employed by different tutors) ---the space between each course lecture is always one week, never allow yourself enter the second week class without having understood the lecture of the previous week. If u can't get the help u need in any course, GOOGLE is your friend and YouTube tutorials are also okay. just give it all it takes and trust God, he can help you-

Kindly forget graduating with a first class ever in your life and build this gpa up to a strong 2.1 from 4.0.
No offence, this gpa is low

thats just first semester GPA. I think with serious studying it's possible

Futminna has one of the best chemical engineering departments in Nigeria therefore you have a lot of opportunities to learn from high quality lecturers, but u must work very very hard. Make sure you understand what you are being taught and solve as much past questions as possible. There are opportunities for chemical engineers but not so much to be honest due to the nature of the Nigerian economy. Nevertheless, there is always room for excellent people. When I say excellent people, I don’t mean 1st class graduates who just cram to pass but people irrespective of their class of degree who actually understand chemical engineering.

In your first year, the key is to be familiar with as may past questions as possible. If possible, cram the key formulas and equations, and also as far as possible, cram the answers because lecturers could be very economical and unrealistic with time allocation. But whether you cram or not, make sure you understand what you cram. Anything you refuse to understand now will haunt you in future until you take out time to understand it

I am close to certain you are not a first class material, i would have said you should chase a 2-1 material, but i think the issue is more worse than i thought, sorry if i hurt you with my writing, you DONT have the fire to do well in that dept. how do i know? i saw your comments on the first page about you doing better than some people , even though you had a 0.2/5.... That tells me all i needed to know about you. YOU GOT NO FIRE OR deep PASSION in you to do well. Your mentality is terribly weak. Your aptitude and more worrying your attitude is weak. If you can change dept to a less demanding dept. DO THAT NOW..... Once you change dept. you will have to qwork on your ATTITUDE.

100 level is not even Engineering yet, they offer same courses with School of Pure Sciences, Engineering starts 200level. The exams are even CBT multiple choice so she having 0.2 means her destiny may not be science inclined.. but what do I know?

I know a lot of people would be here to console you. my dear, even with your unseriousness, if you're a lil brilliant, you might still have ended up with 3.0 gpa; but 0.2 gpa is unimaginable.
If by the end of second semester your gpa is still very low, dont waste your time in MEE department. Change your department and start afresh from 200l in another department before it's too late .

they won't even accept her, that's the issue. in Futminna CGPA of 0.99 after 100 level, you are going home.
Not having at least 10 8 8 out of the 12 10 10 credit load of MAT, CHM and PHY, you are leaving Engineering.
to be blunt with the truth, I don't think she'd make it with that 0.2(gosh!)
this second semester is even a bit tougher with calculus and organic chemistry ..
I just pray she do extremely well this semester for her own good

i just finished my 100 level 1st semester. I worked so hard, i deserve a furst class also. 6 of my engineering female friends are in 4.5 above with 2 having a perfect 5.0 perfect GPA, and I'm here struggling with a 0.2gpa.
