ICE or Electric motor transmits power to the transmission box.
Towing vehicle means the wheels turn without getting power from the ICE or Electric Motor and very unlikely this will lead to charge up of the battery pack as the power source is not the ICE...
But should help engine build up compression and probably make start up easier..

Your last statement is what i might not agree with o.
Helping the engine build up compression implies that the transmission be engaged in D during the exercise
This to me may be a bad idea since the Camry hybrid uses a CVT instead of a conventional automatic.
And all car manufacturers absolutely discourage such practice ( even towing your car in Neutral is discouraged) , and rather suggest that the driving wheels be taken off the ground during towing to prevent possible damage to gearbox and differential ( or transaxle)

I think the best approach is what has been earlier proposed: drop the engine in another vehicle and turn it till it gains compression

Or charge the batteries 100% to handle the multiple charging attempts

No.actually I doubt if the engine would be running during the regenerative braking effect

The only issue with this technique is that the brakes would have to be lightly depressed throughout the whole exercise

In got lost in thought a few days ago about this project, I wondered what would happen if I left the ignition on, and towed the car over a long distance with the battery pack installed.

I would appreciate an interactive session on this.

Regenerative braking

Depressing the brakes actually provides a dynamo effect that in turn charges the battery.

Ithe question is how much juice can you get from such exercise?

The Bell came Late, but the Bell came sha....

As I wait in the banking hall let's Recap.

Vehicle Came with a Knocked Engine. Engine replaced. New engine will require a Longer than usual crank for it to startup. Vehicle is not equipped with a starter motor and will require the Hybrid Motor to start the engine. The Hybrid Battery pack is low on charge, it cranks the engine, but not fast/long enough for a proper start. Battery needs a charge outside the Vehicle or a replacement pack with a full charge.

Current battery pack will be fixed, by eliminating bad cells with good ones and charge the entire unit.

1st replacement battery pack was not good and has been returned.

Current mode of battery charge is using a solar panel attached to a charge controller.

We are currently Testing this mode of charge on the weak cells/bad cells to be sure it's a stable means of charging the Battery packs, so far results Have been very impressive.

Will connect every cell tomorrow and hope for enough sunlight, by Sunday evening I will reinstall batteries in the pack an start Vehicle.

That's where we are.
