The movie, as well with others like King Of Boys, follow in line in capturing the ugly nature of Lagos state politics and Nigeria at large.

More movies like this will help people become more cognizant of what's going on in their community and nation, and proffer effective ways for change.

As with Nollywood, some scenes were predictable, e.g when Gift shot Kazeem at the end.
Nollywood like their counterpart, Hollywood, giving masculine role to the feminine always make movies less interesting. Watching Gift (Adesua Etomi) fight hardened and tough criminals made the movie had tinctures of caricature. Let men do their thing; ditto for women.

Lessons learnt:

1. Crime is an unending loop once there are myriads of benefits attached.

2. Revenge is a cycle. Only pure justice can stop it.

3. Politicians are only loyal to their bellies and pockets. No matter how loyal you're to them, they'll use you as a pawn to leverage, either to gain more or escape danger.

4. True love never dies. It can be separated, but it keeps burning.

5. Don't taste crime. Once you do, you enter into an interminable tunnel of brief joy and long sorrows.

6. Don't be a pawn on the chessboard of politicians. Deal with them from afar and with wisdom.

7. Being a good parent matters a lot. You must re-evaluate all your plans once you become a parent. It's your duty to protect your community by raising good children.

8. No true friends in gangs of criminals. Two thieves are not best of friends but worst enemies. Their proclamation of love is mere pretence.

9. Deal with trouble at the root stage. Because it becomes impossible when it germinate and grow tall.

10. We must put the community above the self. Only then bribery and corruption can be curbed to the lowest.

Gangs of Lagos is a good movie. Go watch it.

If you are trying to build a decent society do you build it on a young woman whose father robbed two states blind? If she is no better than the people she wants to change then we can't simply take her word for it. We must default to experience. Since her husband has no experience at all in government then we are left no alternative but to believe that the better candidate won in Lagos.

We were being asked to take a leap of faith solely on the faith in a person's character and antecedents. Once you bring antecedents into the mix then you are fair game.

There is no hating on the igbos. Igbo people are in government. But Nigeria cannot simply chose a governor on the basis of wing and prayer.

What I see on Twitter and nairaland says otherwise. Calling him Chinedu, claiming his mother is igbo and him an ipob is what is trending online. You are the first person im seeing not voting him on the premise that he doesn't have experience.
But your reason is still not reasonable to me, given that all the past leaders with experience has taken Nigeria nowhere but to the ground.

Subsidy is about 280 if not more, buy the time its remove we will be buying fuel for nothing less than 420, I pity Northerners sha, they will be buying times 2 of the price in the south. Just like how LPG and AGO is more expensive in the north than south.

For all of the noise from the Atiku and the Obidient camp,one fact is clear,none of them could score 25% of the votes in 24 states in Nigeria during the presidential election.

MOF, the easiest elections to manipulate are the ones electronic. Israel or Russia hackers can create ghost voters, any numbers you want , so long you can pay.

This bvas system is easy but Nigeria govt is just making things hard.

The just concluded election has two main issues and if these issues are resolved Nigeria election will be closed to perfect.


1. inec staff Refusing to upload the results to irev at the polling units.

2. Going to their office for collation.

First of all the collation should be done automatically using strong network like starlink.

Bvas should be able to scan the results, extract the figures, send the figures to irev while irev do the calculation automatically, ours is just to vote and monitor irev real time.
(There are powerful apps that can snac and extract figures from papers or one could be built just for inec)

Secondly after bvas has scan and extracted the figures from the resultsheet, the inec staff should still snap the results and upload on irev immediately.

All this should be done right at the polling units, thats why I suggested that a strong network like starlink should be used.

After that every one goes home and monitor irev.

No need for collation.
