RomanceROMANCE: Ten Foods You Should Never Eat On A First Date by informa(op): 3:37pm On Jun 20, 2013
A first date is all about making impressions…and a lot is at stake. Your date will most likely be on the look out for all the signs of good etiquette, but some foods leave you too stressed up, trying to observe table manners, whether outdoor or indoor. So, do yourself a favour and wait till the wedding anniversary before you eat them. Generally, avoid these mood-killing first date foods:

1. Beans and what have you: Anything that has the capacity to make you pollute the air should be avoided. Would the beans have digested to that stage by then? Well, we never can tell.
2. Whole Lobster: It’d require the use of your bare hands, and I’m sure your date will actually mind the smell of fishy fingers after dinner..
3. Sugar Cane: Yes, nice to suck the juice from sugar cane…but after this, I wonder the sort of mechanism with which you’d remove the fibre from your mouth…!
4. Orange: Sucking up orange gives your mouth a funny sort of twist…you know what I mean…
5. Sphaghetti and meat balls: You’re likely to end up with a meat ball on your skirt!
6. Garlic: Talk about bad breath…

CelebritiesJustin Bieber In Another Accident by informa(op): 12:45pm On Jun 19, 2013
We hate to think that the name of Justin Bieber plus an automobile equals an accident...but he has acquired repute for being associated with several road mishaps in recent times.
The singer was reportedly involved in another accident in Los Angeles involving a pedestrian.

According to TMZ, as Bieber, 19, was leaving a local comedy club with rapper Lil Twist, his Ferrari was surrounded by paparazzi, one of whom got pinned between Bieber's car and another vehicle.

The pedestrian, who was unidentified, sustained some injuries but they were not life-threatening.

As CNN reports, "Last month police twice responded to reports that Bieber was speeding around his gated Southern California community. Last July, he was involved in a high-speed chase with paparazzi on an LA freeway. And in November he was cited for making an unsafe left turn and having an expired registration.

"On New Year's Day, the Ferrari was involved in an incident in which a photographer was run over and killed while crossing a busy street after taking pictures of the vehicle. Bieber was not present at the time."

Mr Bieber will definately have to be more careful with his automobiles...

CelebritiesFINALLY: Kim And Kanye Name Daughter "Kandice" by informa(op): 11:26am On Jun 19, 2013
What haven't we heard about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby's name over the past few days that she was born.

Everyone guessed right it would be from a letter "K"...and here's a run down of what we have heard and what not:

Kary Kagdalen (a la Mary Magdalen)
Kristal (like the champy)
Kanyetta (like her daddy)
Kimye (like her mommy and daddy)
Karat (like the measurements of diamonds)
Kleopatra (like the Nubian queen)
Kueen (like a queen)
King (like Martin Luther King, Jr.)
Kosmos (like the entire universe)
Karma (like what goes around…and comes around)
Kalliope (because this is a real name)
Kevin (because gender bending is in)
Keyonce (like Beyonce)
Kashmere (like Kanye’s favorite wool blend)
Keytar (like the greatest musical instrument ever)
Kalifornia (like her home state)
Kroissant (to commemorate “I Am a God” and “Niggas in Paris”)
Kelly (because it’s a nice, sensible name)

Finally, the real name of the baby is Kaidence Donda West. Guess the parents had to go down creativity lane and yes, they did come up with something nice. But then, I cringe at the thought of the paparazzi and media life this baby has got to live, and has begun to live...

Baby's obviously a celebrity already!

HealthThree Sisters With Werewolf Syndrome Fear They'll Never Get Married by informa(op): 9:57am On Jun 19, 2013
This story first broke out last year as reported by Sun Newspaper (UK) but the gist is that these three sisters who are based in India say their dreams of getting married is a nightmare and fear they will never find husbands because of their uncontrollable hair growth!

The sisters suffering are from Hypertrichosis Universalis simply referred to as Werewolf Syndrome; a condition affecting just one in a billion people means their bodies are covered in extra hair — giving them extremely bushy eyebrows and beards.

And Savita, 23, Monisha, 18, and 16-year-old Savitri fear the will leave as life-long spinsters.
Savita said: “Marriage is not an option for us. Who is going to marry us when hair keeps growing on our faces?”

The sisters are now using hair removal cream but the hair returns too quickly to maintain.
Savita added: “When I used to go to school the boys and girls would shout ‘hairy face’, ‘horrible looking’, and ‘don’t sit next to her’.”

The condition was passed down by the girls’ father with whom Anita was forced into an arranged marriage by her uncle and aunt when she was 12.

She said: “It was only on the day of my marriage that I discovered what my husband was, hairy on his face, ears and body. He scared the hell out of me when he arrived at the altar."

RomanceIMPOTENCE: Marriage Crashes Over Husband’s Inability To Satisfy Wife In Bed by informa(op): 8:33am On Jun 19, 2013
“Starting from today, you cease to be husband and wife; you shall go your separate ways and maintain peace." This was the statement made by an Agege Customary Court President in Lagos on Tuesday when he dissolved a seven-year-old marriage of an office assistant who said that her husband was unable to satisfy in bed.

According to him, the evidence before the court showed the marriage of Mr Maxwell Madu and Grace, had broken down irretrievably.

The petitioner, Grace, 24, had filed a divorce suit submitting that her husband, Maxwell, had not been able to give her sexual satisfaction. “Since I got married to him, I have not enjoyed sex; he does not perform well in bed,’’ she said. She also accused him of maltreating her.

Maxwell on his own part, said that since he lost his job, Grace had taken to adultery. “She is never satisfied in bed; even if we go five rounds, she will still ask for more.“My wife returns late at night, flirts around with different men and, at times, does not come home after work,’’ he said.

The court dissolved the marriage, granting the husband the custody of the child.

CelebritiesPHOTO: We've Never Seen Lady Gaga Looking This Normal by informa(op):
Seriously, Lady Gaga, is that you?

We've become used to seeing Lady Gaga don some pretty crazy outfits just to run errands, so am surprised to see her dressed down in street clothes on Monday.

I remember my kid sister used to turn away the Television anytime Lady Gaga's song is playing. Why? She used to think that some demonic being are on the screen until i explained to her those were just costumes and she is trying to make a living

The usual Laga Gaga i know with her crazy and weird costumes after the cut

Am sure the singer will be back to wearing crazy designs in no time, but perhaps she's enjoying a more casual look.

PoliticsREVEALING: How Mko Abiola Died by informa(op): 9:18am On Jun 12, 2013
This is the first time a detailed analysis of the issues leading to the June 12, 1993, election and detention and subsequent controversial death of the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, winner of the election, is outlined by an insider who is very close to both Abiola and late Sani Abacha to know the secret details.

Below is Dr Ore Falomo, Abiola's personal physician's exposé in a recent interview with Punch. It is a must read...

Can you recall your last meeting with M.K.O Abiola. When was it, and what was the state of his health?

It was about two weeks before he died. But the visit before the last was more remarkable. It was arranged by the military government to dispel the rumour that Abiola had died in detention. They quickly arranged a meeting for me to go and see him. They sent one captain from Aso Rock to me to tell me that I was needed urgently in Aso Rock. This was the penultimate meeting to the last meeting with him. I found the message strange because my previous meetings were arranged by the commissioner of police in Abuja, under whom Abiola was supposed to be. Whenever I visited him, I usually returned to Lagos by 6pm, but that day, it was not possible because immediately I got into the car, they started driving round Abuja to waste time so that it would be dark and I won’t recognise where they were taking me to.

When we got to the place, Abiola was there. It was a new place; I had not seen him there before. It was a bungalow. As soon as they opened the door and Abiola saw me, he came towards me and we hugged. We sat and unlike before, none of the guards waited to listen to our discussion. We spoke Yoruba all the time. They objected to it at first, later on they agreed. That day he was behaving like he was in the spirit. I told him there was a rumour that he had been killed. He said, ‘I know that I’m dead. They have dug the grave. They have put me in the grave except that they have not close me up.’ I asked, ‘What happened? Have they injured you or injected you?’ He said no, but that he just knew.

That means he had the premonition that he was going to die in detention.
Yes. As he was talking, his mood changed. He told me he had forgiven those who caused his incarceration; that it was left for them to ask for forgiveness from God. He said he forgave them because he wants God to forgive him his sins. All these were strange, because in my previous visits, he was always asking about the things that were happening in the country. Then he started singing, ‘Nearer my God to thee, nearer to thee.’ He used to sing Christian songs. After signing the song in English, he started singing it in Yoruba. Then he got up; hugged me and we began to cry. It was very emotional. I tried to calm him down, because I didn’t know what he had seen. All through this period, the guards did not come to say time was up. I told him I will tell the story to the people, which was normal after every visit.

But did you observe any sign or symptoms of illness in him?
No. He was neither sick nor injured. You could say his spirit was low, but his body was good. There were no signs and symptoms of any illness. He spoke from a very conscious mind. That was the most poignant visit. The last visit was routine; to change his toiletries and so on.

The then Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, recently told us that when he visited Abiola few days to his death, he was in high spirits, because he was happily awaiting his release. How did he overcome the depression?About two weeks to Abiola’s death, Abdulsalami Abubakar had started to send out word that Abiola might be released. So, the whole town started to rejoice. I don’t know how that one was done. They even got to me and said my trips to Abuja would soon end. I knew the government was not going to try him. Chief Rotimi Williams had already told us that they did not have any evidence against him. There was no point going to court. As far as I knew, Abiola knew that they would not allow him to come out just like that since they would not take him to court. Every time, they were asking him to denounce his mandate and prepare himself for another election, but he refused. During my last visit, I told him I had the rumour that Abubakar will release him but I did not want him to believe the rumour until there was concrete evidence.

How did you receive the news of his death?
That day, I was in the sitting room here. A call came from the personal physician of Abubakar. He said, ‘Doctor, get yourself ready and start coming to Abuja. The Head of State has sent his personal jet through Governor Buba Marwa, it would be at the VIP section of the airport.’ Of course, I was not going to enter that aircraft. But I asked him, ‘Why are you sending for me? I was given about two weeks appointment to come and see Abiola, so tell me what has happened that warrants me to come urgently.’ He didn’t want to tell me that Abiola had died, so that my reaction would not be, ‘Alright if you have killed him; eat him. I’m not the doctor for the dead, but for the living.’ That could have been my reaction, which was exactly my reaction when I finally learnt that he had died. After that, I called Kola Abiola and told him that something bad had happened but that I didn’t know the extent. The doctor also told me not to come alone; that I should bring any of my colleagues. I then thought, maybe he had not died. I told Kola and he said, ‘Doctor let’s go to the airport and take the plane to Abuja.’ I didn’t know Kola had heard. We boarded Kola’s car and he tuned to BBC news. At that time, it was about 15 minutes to 6pm. Then they announced that Abiola had died. I asked Kola, ‘Is that true?’ He wasn’t crying, I knew he had heard. I told him to turn back. And just before we got to Maryland, people had started rioting. We were lucky to escape without the car being damaged..............http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/Mko-Abiola-June12-Falomo.html

PoliticsFG Creates 1.2million Jobs: But Where Are The Jobs? by informa(op): 6:36am On Jun 12, 2013
The Minister of Mines and Steel, Musa Sada , on Tuesday in Abuja said his ministry has created over 1.2 million jobs in rural areas.

Speaking at the ongoing ministerial platform, Mr. Sada said 1.254 million jobs were created from operations in 1710 quarries, 223 small scale mining operations, 195 mining leases and 2048 exploration licenses.

The important questions are: where are the jobs? 1.2 million jobs created from mining alone in rural areas? What is the period of data presented? where is the proof? How many able-bodied youth are engaged?

The rate at which people are migrating to few cities we have in Nigeria especially Lagos, one would conclude that rural areas are totally abandoned by the government in term of job creations and infrastructure

Presenting unsubstantiated data to the public is not way to go Honorable Minister!

HealthBuy Bottled Water And Waste Your Money? by informa(op): 6:59pm On Jun 10, 2013
Going for bottled water as against satchet water ("pure water"wink, for some of us, is an extension of panache. Some people, as a matter of principle, take only bottled water while others take "pure water" indoors but bottled water ONLY outdoors...

Hehehe...

But no, that effizy is not what I'm branching about today. In Punch's interview of a nutritionist, Dr. Kemi Elumoye, she not only argues that bottled water is expensive, but also considers money spent on buying it wasteful. Worse, she says, “contrary to popular belief, the average bottled water is not any healthier for consumption than tap or deep well water.”

Yeparipa!... But before you start calculating the difference between N60 and N10, let's hear her out:

In her words: “I challenge bottled water consumers to examine closely the labels on the water bottle if they would ever see where the water they drink comes from. What this translates to, in essence, is that bottled water companies also drill boreholes from which they source the water, and then take the water through certain processes that may be inimical to health when used regularly.”

Such processes include reverse osmosis which filters out a select number of contaminants, depending on the size of the contaminants. If the contaminants are larger in size than water molecules, they will be filtered out, but if they are smaller in size, they will remain in the drinking water.

As for mothers who feed their babies with bottled water or use it to mix infant formula, Elumoye warns that the probable high mineral content of some bottled water “makes them unsuitable for feeding babies and young children.”

So, next time you're stuck in traffic and you're wondering whether it is "pure water" or bottled water that is most respectable to buy...just purchase according to your financial might, for packaging might just be the difference!

PoliticsLagos Begins Fresh War Against "Agberos" by informa(op): 8:18am On Jun 10, 2013
Some of us have simply wondered for a long while, why one would board a bus at a bus-stop of one's own volition and someone in some tacky uniform with alcohol reeling through his breathe would appear from nowhere and collect money from the driver for the "passenger-ship".

Wonders will simply never end in Lagos, or maybe this particular one is about to be cracked down.

Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement Unit) says that having nabbed 46 of touts who collect illegal dues outside motor parks (agberos), it has begun a fresh war against the social miscreants.

“Magistrate Jadesola Adeyemi of the Special Offences Court in Alausa sentenced the 46 miscreants to 50-hour community service for constituting an environmental menace. We believe that the punishment will serve as a deterrent to others who might want to constitute a menace to law-abiding Lagosians”, he added.

According to reports, the "agberos' had earlier been restricted from Lagos roads but they obeyed the restriction law for only a month, after which they re-surfaced.

We hope this will be permanent

PropertiesApapa Fire: "I Head Back To The Village To Commit Suicide"- Trader by informa(op): 8:05am On Jun 10, 2013
“I am finished. As you are seeing me here, I have lost everything I have to this fire incident.Unless something is done, I am heading back to the village and you know what it means – suicide."

These were the words Mr. Izuchukwu Agwu, a trader at the Trinity Spare Parts Market, Apapa, where a tragic fire incidence on Sunday razed 150 spare part shops and left many of the traders sighing helplessly in abject loss. According to reports, the fire started when Power Holding Company of restored power supply around 1pm in the afternoon and there was a power surge in one of the shops on the B line.

The affected plaza is estimated to accommodate no fewer than 200 shops, mostly spare parts traders. Except the government helps these traders, it will be difficult for them to get back to their feet.

PoliticsAbacha, Jonathan: What's The Difference? by informa(op): 7:37am On Jun 10, 2013
Recently, famous (or rather, infamous) military Head of State, Gen. Sanni Abacha re-surfaced in the social media. The occasion was the remembrance note in honour of him by his daughter, Gumsu, who said “May Allah grant my father Aljanna Firdaus. I miss you so much. Fifteen years already. Allah ya jikan ka da rhama ‘Baba,’” in a tweet.

Trust twitter to go viral when you least expect it to, Abacha soon became a subject of discussion with people posting several comments for and against him. A certain Segun Bamidele said, “With due respect ‘Mr. & Mrs. Death’ you have been unfair to Nigeria. You took Abacha and Abiola 15 years ago and left us with more wicked charlatans.’’

Perhaps, most interesting is social media journalist, Tolu Ogunlesi's comment which reads "Truth is, many ‘achievements’ Jonathan Government is claiming, Abacha too claimed. African Cup of Nations win; Petroleum Trust Fund (for Abacha) – Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (for Jonathan); Failed Banks Tribunal (for Abacha) and Fuel Subsidy Trial (Jonathan).

“Give Abacha’s list of achievements to Doyin Okupe (Presidential Assistant on Public Affairs) and Labaran Maku (Minister of Information), you won’t recognize the dictator again o. Bottom line is that there are no heroes anywhere, are there? Only varying degrees of non-heroism. Nigerians celebrated Abacha’s death. There were parties in Britain celebrating Margaret Thatcher’s Death. Therefore, the summary of the matter is this: All leaders are evil but some are (much) less evil than others.”

Hehehe...so on what degree of heroism (or rather, non-heroism) is Jonathan's government?

RomanceRevealed: 5 Types Of Women That Men Avoid by informa(op): 6:02pm On Jun 09, 2013
Chances are while you were on your date you discovered a personality that you know you just can’t deal with. It’s not that your date was creepy or malicious; you just know that a long-term relationship with that person won’t work out.

Dating is not about putting people into categories, but there are some personalities that just make a person want to turn and run.

1) The Party Girl

This is the serial Elegushi loading, Oniru rocking, Abuja Going, Pool party banging, Koko lounge balling kind of lady

When men meet this ball of fun, they think she is the life of the party. She’s carefree, maybe a little wild, and from the outside looks like a person they may be interested in. Once they get a closer look, however, they realize that her entire life is a party. While a guaranteed good time may seem like a good idea, what will she be like in the sobering light of day?

Her hilarious antics, outgoing personality and righteous dance moves are good in small doses, but the Party Girl doesn’t know the meaning of “closing time.” It’s hard to have a healthy relationship with a person who is masking major problems underneath his or her party hat. Plus, we all know that people who can’t amuse themselves without mind-altering substances just aren’t any fun when the party is over.

2) The Flirty-Bird

Men love women who flirt. Men are drawn to a good flirt because besides being fun and charming, she’s definitely not shy. The flirter shows interest right off the bat, making the “getting to know you” aspect of courtship all the more easy. For a guy, not having to do all the work is a relief.

But there’s a difference between a situational flirt and a serial flirt, and the latter is something that men just don’t want to deal with. A serial flirt giggles, touches, and tosses her hair at everyone: the best friend, the boss, the father. A woman who bats her lashes indiscriminately seems like a challenge at first—How do I get her to just pay attention to me?—but that game gets old really fast.

After a while guys realize that the Flirty-Bird needs constant attention because she’s stricken with major self-esteem issues. An extremely confident and patient man may be able to deal with this kind of behavior, but he’ll probably run himself ragged before realizing that the Flirty-Bird isn’t worth his time.

3) The Commitment-Phile

Imagine that you’re a guy for a second. You meet a fantastic woman and you’re having a great first date. The lighting is just right and the food is perfect. You’re sharing a great conversation and just beginning to get comfortable when…WHAM! Your date starts talking about your wedding location, how many kids she wants and Big Lug, the name of your future dog.

It puts a lot of pressure on a guy right off the bat. In any healthy relationship, the first couple of months—and especially the first couple of dates—should be kept light. A woman who fast-forwards to the happily ever after makes guys wonder if they really are her perfect match. With such a speedy narrative, perhaps her plans are all about fulfilling her dreams regardless of who is standing across from her at the altar.

I trust our first ladies here in Naija, they will want to die as first lady and even pass on to children and grandchildren

Russian President, Vladmir Putin, has divorced his wife of 30 years in what the couple has described as "a joint decision".

In their divorce statement on state television, Thursday, Lyudmila Putin said: "I don't like publicity and flying is difficult for me" while Vladmir added; "We practically never saw each other".
Truly, Lyudmila has rarely made public appearances since her husband's sojourn in the world of Russian politics. One of the very few outings was a ballet performance at Kremlin after which the couple announced the divorce.

The couple have however, resolved to remain very close friends.

You mean, someone really is not crazy about being First Lady? Lolz...na wa!

A 65-year-old woman, Navenna Shine, has not eaten in five weeks and is still alive. Reason? She is exploring the concept of breatharianism which says that food is not necessary and sunlight provides all of the nourishment the body needs.

She plans surviving on water for the next four to six months. So far, she has dropped from 159 to 130 pounds and lost more than six inches from her belly.

On day 30 she wrote: ‘I have the feeling that my body has reached a point where it has used up all its stored fats and is now looking around for what next to consume." She says she is not completely sure she will be able to last, but intends to give the project her full efforts.

Daring, isn't it?...or dying, isn't she?

HealthNigeria Tops Chart Again: Country With The Highest Use Of Bleaching Cream by informa(op): 3:01am On Jun 05, 2013
WHO has declared Nigeria as the country with the highest use of skin-lightening products. Topping the chart all over the world with 77%, followed by Togo's 59% and with Senegal in third place with 27% usage.
In spite of these facts, it is important to look at the general consequences of the extensive use of skin-lightening products as stated by WHO. A consumer who uses products as this is more exposed to leukemia, cancers of the liver and kidney and severe skin conditions like the multi-colouring of the skin. I call it 'colour-blocking'.

The organization might have got it's fact through purchase rate, yet these results are quite controversial, if you ask me. We should remember always that Black Is Beautiful. Appreciate yourself and see how much people will appreciate you.

FoodNigerian Luxury Designer Creates The World Most Expensive Champagne by informa(op): 2:50am On Jun 05, 2013
Nigerians are indeed wonderful! World's richest champagne is out and it was created by one of our very own, Alexander Amosu.

Luxury champagne brand, Gout de Diamants (Taste of Diamonds), has launched into the Champagne market. As the most expensive, it goes for £1.2million which is estimated at #248million naira. The price of this luxury product could be attributed to the design of the bottle as the brand logo on the bottle features a 19-carat diamond valued at $1.56million. Gout de Diamant's Superman-style signature logo is handcrafted from 18-carat solid gold and is centred by a
flawless deep-cut white diamond weighing 19-carat diamond which costs $1.56million. Usually, the Gout de Diamants bottle is created for an unnamed private client and the name of the client is engraved on the label which is hewn from 18-carat solid white gold. Talking about the Superman-style signature logo which is centred by a single flawless deep-cut white diamond which weighs 19-carat, this logo replaces the Swarovski crystal that used to lie in the space.

I was so perplexed when i saw this picture of the Uk-born Nigerian terrorist, Michael Adebola back in his school days with his mate. What could have changed this young innocently looking boy to act the way he did? What could made him a cold blooded killer? Only God can tell!
