The ex-President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday said he would never support President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.

Obasanjo also rejected the President’s visit to the United States, and he said it achieved little or nothing for the country.

He said this through a report by his media adviser Kehinde Akinyemi in response to broad insinuation on the social media that he was now backing Buhari for another term.

Obasanjo said:

“From the Buhari/Trump meeting, Chief Obasanjo only saw through three points: One, the US will continue to reduce purchase of crude oil from Nigeria and there is nothing Nigeria under Buhari can do about it; two, the US will export agricultural products to Nigeria and Buhari’s government will encourage that; and three – all the killings taking place in Nigeria by herdsmen are being done by expatriates trained by Gadaffi, and no Nigerian is to blame and Buhari cannot do anything to stop it.

“For whatever the meeting was worth, President Buhari again bungled another opportunity to self-redeem. No wonder President Trump ordered him in a rather condescending manner to go back home and stop the killings going on in Nigeria! We hope now Buhari will heed Trump’s advice which hopefully will be considered non-abusive.”

The report appended:

“For the record, Obasanjo has not and cannot endorse him. Chief Obasanjo sympathizes with the plight of those campaigners and supporters of Buhari. He doesn’t believe dishing out fake news that…will turn black into white.

“Nigerians know that Chief Obasanjo has only spoken the truth about widening poverty, alienation and social disunity and near disintegration of the country under Buhari. Obasanjo will continue to exercise his right to free speech, and no amount of hate speech will assuage Nigerians who are in need of a brand new leadership…

But the Presidency dismissed the statement as unworthy of response.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina replied:

“The statement is not worth responding to. The original item being shared on social media did not emanate from us, and if a spokesman is idle enough to use it to vent a spleen once again, good luck to him.”

Here are the common Illnesses that Arise During the Rainy Season. June to September are the months we experience an heavily downpour. During the rainy season, we feel soo cool, and the environment is all green. The truth is, we also invite some health disorders and illnesses to our body. Most especially children who are usually vulnerable. So, Parents need to be watchful and careful during the rainy season.

During the rainy season, there some infection that is so paramount, so, it is crucial that you know about the illness to take necessary precaution during this season.

So, in this short article, we would be talking about the list of seasonal diseases that arises during the season, some of the illness is related to the respiratory system (water and foodborne diseases), Cold and flu happens mostly during the rainy season.

Below is the list of common Illnesses that Arise During the Rainy Season

1. Dengue

This is a disease transmitted by a mosquito, by the species of mosquito called the Aedes caused by the dengue virus. The Symptoms of the illness are; Muscle and joint pains, headache, high fever, vomiting.

2. Flu

Short for influenza, this is a common infection that brings a cough, fever, severe aching and catarrh. It happens every year.

3. Food infection

We can also call it food poisoning. It commonly happens during rainy, due to the people that people patronize food that is not cooked at home.

Food infection: this is a disease that happens while taking contaminated food or water, it can be infected during its production stage, processing or cooking. It is mostly caused by bacteria such as parasites, E.coli, and viruses; At least 99.9% of people contaminated by food illness is caused by unknown sources.

For a country like Nigeria, hygiene plays a role in the spread of food poisoning, because some people do not waste their hands with soap before eating, they just jump into the food they are about to eat and infect it with their dirty hands. More so, if you're the type that lives in a place that breeds insects such as, houseflies, cockroaches or rodents like rats. This rodent can carries germs to our food.

If you start experiencing that illness, is advisable to drink a lot of drink and rest to prevent hydration because at this stage such a person would have been vomiting or stooling. Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) is a solution can be given to any person that has experienced food poisoning to help relieve the loss of fluid in the body.

4. Leptospirosis:

This is another rainy season diseases; this is an infectious bacterial disease of rodents, dogs, and other mammals, which also be transmissible to humans.

Okoringa was gunned down in his hometown Kaiama, the headquarters of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The assassins shot him severally, confirming he was dead before leaving the premises.
