According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Obiageli Ezekwesili Presidential Campaign Organisation, Ozioma Ubabukoh, the former Minister was withdrawing to help build a coalition to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

“This decision followed extensive consultations with leaders from various walks of life across the country over the past few days. I deem it necessary for me to focus on helping to build a veritable coalition to ensure a viable alternative to the #APCPDP in the forthcoming elections,” she said.
“It is my ardent belief that this broad coalition for a viable alternative has now become more than ever before, an urgent mission for and on behalf of Nigerian citizens. I have therefore chosen to lead the way in demonstrating the much needed patriotic sacrifice for our national revival and redirection.

Singer Davido has explained the reason why his girlfriend Chioma suddenly disappeared from social media.

A Nigerian man who went on a rampage and attacked public officials on Sunday, January 6 (yesterday) in Italy, has been arrested. According to Italian media reports, the 25-year-old Nigerian man was trying to empty a garbage can in the street at Ferrara train station before allegedly going out of control.
The young man is alleged to have thrown bottles on the ground and also damaged a bus in the area close to where a woman was seated with her baby in the course of his rampage.

A National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Amina Zakari, has dismissed reports that she is a blood relation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Peoples Democratic Party and other political groups, as well as individuals, had alleged that Zakari, who was, on Thursday, named by the commission as its Chairman, Advisory Committee and Presidential Election Collation Centre Committee, was a niece of Buhari.

They, therefore, submitted that she was not qualified to preside over the collation of the presidential poll’s results.
By virtue of her position, she will coordinate the collation of results for the February 16 presidential poll, in which Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the election, will contest the presidential ticket for a second term in office.

The Presidency has however debunked the allegation that Zakari is a blood relation to the President. It also explained that the national commissioner was appointed to INEC during the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The PDP, the Inter-Party Advisory Council and several political parties had called on INEC to rescind the appointment of Zakari as the chairman of the committee on National Collation Centre.

But in an interview with the BBC, which was aired on Saturday, however, Zakari, who is a former acting Chairman of INEC, said she had served as a special adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

She further stated that she was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan as an INEC commissioner and she had done the job diligently for the last eight years.
Zakari added, “I’m not his (Buhari) niece; I am not his cousin and, on this job, I was appointed since 2010 by President Jonathan. Prior to that, I was appointed as SA to President Obasanjo and I have done my work conscientiously over the years as a patriotic citizen of Nigeria.

First Executive President of Nigeria, Alhaji Sheh Shagari, is dead. He was aged 93.

The former president died on Friday evening at the National Hospital Abuja.
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, announced his death on his official twitter handle @AWTambuwal on Friday.

“I regret to Announce the death of former President Shehu Shagari who just passed away at National Hospital Abuja. May his Soul Rest in Peace,” Tambuwal tweeted.

Shagari’s death was also confirmed by his grandson, Bello Shagari, who tweeted that the former President died after a brief illness.

n FCT High Court in Maitama has sacked Donald Duke and declared a former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, as the winner of the presidential primary election of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, conducted on October 6. Duke, a former Governor of Cross River, was declared the winner of the election and its flag bearer for the 2019 election.



According to the party, Duke polled 812 votes while Gana had 611. Gana challenged the result in court and sought to be declared the winner in line with the zoning and rotation formula of the party’s constitution.

In his judgement on Friday, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf held that the regulations contained in the party’s constitution were binding on every member and must be obeyed. According to the judge, the zoning and rotation formula as contained in the party’s constitution stipulated that both the chairman of the party and the flag bearer should not come from the same region.

“In this instance, the party’s Chairman, Chief Olu Falae, is from the South and Duke is from the South too; the law is clear; there is nothing to write in-between.

“The law has crystallised that political parties should abide by the regulations which they have made by themselves.

One of the things many people have asked me is how I met this man because we don’t run in the same circle. Well, I met him 3 years ago at Wheatbaker Restaurant in Ikoyi in December 2015 shortly after I moved to my home in Banana Island, Ikoyi. It was a day after Christmas and I was having dinner with friends when he walked in. He saw me and the rest is history. He claimed at the time that he had never heard of me which was seriously a turn-on for me because up until then I’d only been meeting men who behaved like fans. At the time we met, I was 35 and he was 37 and I’d been single for nearly 4 years.

Tottenham currently trails Spanish champions, Barcelona, by a lone goal in the first half of their last group stage match at the ongoing UEFA champions league tournament.

The English Premiership side needs a victory to ensure their passage to the next round of the competition baring the outcome of the event between Inter and PSV.
