No, you don't leave when the ovation is loudest because it doesn't make sense to do so. When the ovation is loudest: that's when you make your money and that's when you make a name for yourself. When the ovation is loudest, that's when you break old records and set new ones. Hence, it would be foolish to leave the stage when the ovation is loudest.

I guess you don't understand the interpretation of the quote,....... leaving the stage is not automatically means end of career, contrary he just set a standard and go for another higher conquest with NOT the same stage.
If he is tempted to come back, his standard might be levelled by another while he refuses to take or promote himself to another level with respect to his age.
