Barcelona are said to be looking at the possibility of re-signing club legend Dani Alves in what would be a reunion with former team-mate turned manager Xavi, Newspremises reports.

The Brazilian veteran full-back Alves won a host of major trophies during his first spell at the club after signing in 2008 before departing in 2016 to join Juventus.

He is now a free agent, however, and according to journalist Nicolo Schira, discussions between Alves and Barcelona are ongoing over a potential return.

It was reported that Nou Camp chiefs initially ruled out the move, but after Xavi was unveiled as the new Barcelona coach, Alves would serve as a leader under him.

A meeting is scheduled to hold over the coming days to make a final decision on whether the 38-year-old veteran comes back for a second stint.

He has confirmed that he has informed Barcelona about his willingness to play for them again, saying: 'It would be taking advantage a bit to say now Barca need me.

'I left saying that when Barca needed and wanted me I would return regardless of where I was.

'There's too much love, respect and care I have for this home. If Barca think they need me all they need to do is call.

'I believe I can add things wherever I go but at Barca now especially with the youngsters they have.

'We were young once and we weren't prepared to defend a responsibility as big as defending Barca is, no matter how good they are or how much they are spoken about. It's all new.

'You need a mix of young and old to give balance and the chance to fight for great things.'

Laporta is also open to the return. He said: 'Dani Alves helped the club in a number of ways - and he has offered us his help from a sporting point of view as well.

'Like with (former captain Carles) Puyol, there is a very direct relationship. They can help if Xavi needs it.'

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the handover of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) students arrested by the Nigerian Army, Newspremises reports.

The officers of the 12 Field Engineering Regiment in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, took the 20 suspected internet fraudsters to EFCC Ibadan zonal command, where they handed them to the officials.

The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by the Nigerian Army at Ijagun, Odogbolu area of Ogun state.

EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, released their names in a statement on Monday, November 1.

The suspects are Azeez Hameed Busayo, Olubor Chuks Winner, Amusa Abdulhakeem, Osoko Adesola David, Diyaolu Daniel Damilola, Olunlade Quadri Olamilekan, Amaje Kelly Armstrong.

Akorede Olaleye Tope, Owonifari Niyi Sanwiyu, Ganiyu Olamide Sodiq, Onasanya Taiwo Adeniyi, Ajayi Muhaymin Adesola, Asenuga Ridwan Ayotomiwa.

Others include Bamgboye Tobiloba Quadri, Ayede Opeyemi Oluwaseun, Oseni Abolore Ismail, Olaniyan Mayowa Emmanuel, Akanni Qudus Olaleye and Onasile Abiodun Sunday.

Eleven vehicles, twenty-nine phones, and suspected hard drugs were recovered from them. The cars are still in the custody of the Army.

Uwujaren announced that 19 of the 20 students have been indicted in the ongoing investigation.

The spokesman added that they will be charged to court at the end of the inquiry.

The All Progressive Congress Party's chieftain Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as an exceptional leader, Newspremises reports.

Tinubu made the disclosure after he paid a courtesy visit to the President at the State House, Abuja, on Sunday, October 30.

The two men according to reports, a held a closed door meeting.

After the meeting, Tinubu explained that, he was at the presidential villa to thank Buhari for visiting him in London where he sought medical treatment.

Iyorchia Ayu has emerged as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Newspremises reports.

His emergence reportedly marked the conclusion of the PDP’s elective national convention in the early hours of Sunday.

The former Senate President went into the elective convention as the consensus candidate of the Northern PDP leaders.

However, delegates still cast their ballot for all the candidates despite the consensus.

A total of 3,511 accredited delegates to the National Convention were called out to vote.

First to be called were delegates from Abia and Adamawa States. Abia has 116 delegates while Adamawa has 118 delegates.

According to the Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the Convention and Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, there were a total of 3,701 delegates in the PDP, out of which 3,511 were accredited.

Five students from Kano State lost their lives while several others were injured while on their way to Katsina State, Newspremises reports.

Four of the students from Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education Kano and one from FCE Kano, were said to be on their way to Katsina to attend the inauguration of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Zone A, when their bus had an accident on Thursday, October 28.

The deceased students have been identified as Comrade Abubakar known as Last Don, Aisha, Maryam, Tahir Dalhatu and Abubakar Usman Tudun Wada.

Those who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), with appeals for blood donations for them trending on the social media.

Kano State FRSC sector commander, Mato Zubairu, who confirmed the incident said 19 persons were involved in the accident, which he said occurred at Lambun Garba, near Bichi en route Katsina, around 10am.

He said it was a lone vehicle accident and those involved include 15 males and four females, adding that the victims and survivors of the accident have been taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has ordered a 3-day mourning over the demise of the students.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mikail Abdullahi, its Public Relations Officer for zone A.

"We received the news of the demise of five our students from Kano axis of NANS, majority students of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, following a ghastly motor accident while on their way to Katsina to attend a function," the statement read.

“Man cannot question the act of God Almighty, October 28 remain a day to remember, as such, NANS zone A under the leadership of Comrade Adamu Kichinga declare a 3-day mourning."

Super Eagles former player Odion Ighalo has said that he is yet to make up his mind about making a return to international football, Newspremises reports.

It was widely reported on Thursday, that Ighalo is set to make a return to international football.

He was said to have been included in Gernot Rohr's provisional squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon in 2022 and the World Cup qualifiers in November.

Ighalo retired from international football after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he won the Golden Boot.

In the ongoing campaign, he has scored nine goals in the 10 games he has played, with the latest coming on Thursday against Al Tai in a 3-0 win.

The player has now confirmed contact with Rohr and the president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick.

“They have been in contact with me about the possibility of coming back, Amaju and coach,” Ighalo told ESPN.
