Well, now I'll have to invite a few of my colleagues to examine this situation.

This advert has a number of inconsistencies.

How is it possible that back when this vehicle was originally sold in 2012 its authentic mileage was 57,175, and now in 2018 its stated mileage is 26,000?

In addition, these photos would appear to be at least 5 years old. Is this the true present condition of this vehicle?

I would strongly urge caution for all interested parties in this vehicle.

This back and forth is really pointless. The gentleman is a Doctor of Optometry. He is not a Medical Doctor. He may choose to affix the Dr title to his name, that's his prerogative.

His problems would start when he decides to pass himself off as a Medical Doctor. Practicing beyond the scope of his training in minor and a few major ophthalmic illnesses and conditions would make him a quack of the most dangerous kind.

An Optometrist is not to be confused with an Ophthalmologist. The latter may well practice as a general practitioner of sorts, besides his specialist training in Ophthalmic conditions of all types and severity, as his basic training is in Medicine and Surgery.

In summary, an Optometrist is a Dr, just as an industrial chemist with a PhD may choose to bear a Dr. title. However neither are medical doctors, and should never pass themselves off as such.

As a footnote, please stick to your recommended Engine Oil grades. Do not let yourself be cajoled into using anything besides the recommended because it's 'suitable for our weather'.

But come to think of it, your write up is basically suited or tailored to probably European and American cars and not sub-saharan Africa, due to weather different from both region.

For example it states the most common grades are SAE 5W/30 and 10w/30. This is not really feasible for Nigerian weather. The SAE is simply the viscosity index, meaning if an oil is 5W/30, it will flow at a temperature as low as 5 degrees and temperature as high as 30 degrees. For the Nigerian weather we do not have such low temperatures and in places like the North, temperatures may go as high as 40 degrees, that is why grades such as SAE 40, 50 are more common.

Here we go with the weather and climate comparison tripe. These engines and oils undergo testing in a wide variety of scenarios. A quick Google search will show you that several places in the USA, for a start, get much hotter than tons of places in Nigeria and much of the subcontinent. Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV come to mind easily.

Oh, and we don't have places in Nigeria with 5 degrees weather? It's unfortunate that we're not great at record keeping, so finding empirical data is proving tricky. However, having had an extended stay in the Shere Hills area of Plateau, I can guarantee that December and January mornings there have easily gone into single digit weather.

I think it's time we moved onto a new debate point, past this worn and rather baseless weather comparison.

The irony is that you and I have been in contact. We've been planning a vehicle purchase, I asked you about a couple and you gave me prices and sent me photos, and I said I'd get back to you.

Human behaviour is reasonably predictable. If your reaction to such mild critique is this uncouth spiel, then perhaps I'd be better off taking my business elsewhere. It may or may not hurt your bottom line, but that's hardly the point.
