Hello house,

Do anyone know the most recent date for Lagos or Abuja? My sister was denied today, was wondering if she can still meet up before the Aug 26 resumption date.

Thanks

Thank you.

So if I buy another visa fee. I hope it won't be any problem to change to Abuja right? And DS 160 already show Lagos, Nigeria.
Or Do I have to fill another DS160, or I can still use the same one.

nelem:

someone just advised you

if you have your interview on 19th of august and it's approved (without AP), you get your passport after 3 working days(22nd-23rd). and you can travel on/before 26th. but if you're placed on AP it now depends on when the embassy eventually issues your visa.
you can only reschedule once free of charge. once that is used you have to pay another visa fee.

What can I do?

iphyconsult:
Hello house how many times can I re-schedule? I saw online that I can do it twice. Now I did once (to the closest), and the option is no more there. School resume Aug 26. I just change from initial schedule Aug 23 to 19. Aug 19 is still close to resumption date. What can I do?

Can I request for an emergency appointment?

Or If approved on Monday Aug 19. Will I get my passport back by Friday. And travel like weekend cos school begins Aug 26 (the next Monday)

Hi,

I'm a student, just came home last weekend for the mid-semester break(2weeks)to renew visa. I have the dropbox option but decided to go for interview cos I have limited time. I missed my monday morning appointment due to travel delay.

I ended up paying a new visa fee at GTB. Now I got an approval for emergency appointment since thursday, but was not able to schedule a date for the new appointment. Was displaying "your group size is larger than current allocation". Really weird cos I am just myself, no dependent, no group schedule. I called and was told their technical team will handle it. A case was already open since thursday but yet to be resolved.

Now I have only this week left and still have the dropbox option, I was wondering if the processing time can be fast-tracked (based on emergency approval) if I go for drop box option?

We don't have to blame a single person, the entire NDDC as a whole have by one means or the other contributed to the delay.

Meanwhile, I wonder if some poeple truly understand that leaving in the foreign land like UK, US, Canada is far different from Nigeria. No amount of job and international student can do to cater for basic needs and bills. Not even to talk of paying tuition.

Another thing is that scholarship are meant for scholars not a street dude who just want to do underG runs to survive. If he's cut,...straight home.

Are we truly representing? Does NDDC scheme worth it if student are not emotionally stable because of threats from immigration, school, landlords,...

This is actually a good time for the UK scholars to match to the embassy. This time that buhari is in UK. Can you see the 2015 scholar did last year.

Hello house,

I planned to invite my aunt for a 2weeks visit by next year Easter. I am a PhD student here with F1 status.

My concern is that she had been to the embassy multiple times been rejected through agents who helped her in filling forms. Now that I'm in the picture, is it possible to start a fresh application because she didn't even have the previous details or email?

Second, can she request for an interpreter because she told me , the VO speaks too fast.

Third, her last interview was at Abuja, can she apply in Lagos?

Thanks.

Good day,

I am a grad student currently in US with F1 visa which expire by August 2017. My I20 is 2015-2020. I really don't plan going to Nigeria sometimes soon but due to my nature of research, It's possible I travel to Canada and Germany for conferences. I understand I will need to get a visa for the countries.
My concern now is after my visa expires by August 2017, how can I renew my visa for the short visit outside US?
Can I use the dropbox to apply for a new visa while in US before August 2017?

Please advise.

Sincerely

@ rexington, congratulations!

Does it sound fair to know you differed your admission and you've received all your payments while we have many scholars roasting in cold at their respective universities.

Even if the payments were in batches, I strongly believed preference should be giving to those already in their universities.

Try and feel others pain, when back are against the wall in nomansland,...

Thanks for your update.

I don't just want to think about how far it have cost me, most especially risking my life shuttling night bus from Lagos to port Harcourt for test, interview, etc travelling to my state to get signatories.
I never know that was just the beginning. Wouldn't know I will smell my ass here.

Let's just keep the fingers crossed . And put all hope on God!

Bless up!

I really don't know why they decided to suffer us this way. How will a student perform well if he/she is having financial and emotional issues.

Mind you, the award letter stated it has been awarded was back dated to July, and it won't be valid after 6month.

They really want a better Nigerians, but do we really represent? When the only word they tell you is "soon".

I wish our voice is heard!
Education / Re: A Plea For Help...NDDC has left us hopeless in the UK by iphyconsult: 9:35pm On Mar 13, 2016
@ Anthony

You guys are lucky, they were able to pay you tuition. Probably because your institution is UK. My tuition has not been paid, not even to mention the allowance.

How could someone even concentrate in having an outstanding performance while is emotionally and financially down.

Hmm,...

AnthonyAnderson:
I really don't know how to start this but I pray this medium brings a solution to our problem.

I write on behalf of over 50 students whom are all beneficiaries of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) foreign scholarship. In September 2015, we departed for a 12 months Masters programme in the UK. Prior to departure we were informed by NDDC staff that we would pay for visa processing and travel arrangements with our own money with the promise that our allowances would be paid within a month or two on our arrival in the UK. This was shocking to me as I had imagined a commission as big and well funded as the NDDC could easily make necessary arrangements for such just like how PTDF does for its scholars.

I was left with no option but to go begging family and friends to raise the required sum for me to apply for a UK visa, purchase flight tickets and estimated costs for three months accommodation and feeding. I wondered if this was how a foreign scholarship was meant to be. I almost gave up in seeking for assistance but favour smiled on me and I was able to receive donations from family and friends. With the money raised I purchased all I needed and traveled. NDDC had promised to send our allowances by the end of October. On arrival at school I realized that the accommodation was more than I had budgeted for and so could not afford it. Fortunately I had a friend that stayed in the next city and had to put up with him for the time being pending when I would secure an accommodation on receipt of my allowance. Fast forward to last week in November, NDDC officials in their numbers visited us (They surely spent more than half our entire allowance on their trip) promising we would now receive our allowances before the year runs out. Now in the second week of January 2016 we are yet to receive any allowance from NDDC or even assurance of when we will be paid. This is five months into a 12 month programme and not a dime has been sent to us. It might be surprising to note that the same NDDC has paid tuition fees to the schools since they know that the schools will not accept us without tuition fees which is far higher than the allowances we are supposed to receive but for some funny reasons they have refused to send a dime for upkeep(accommodation and feeding). Most of us have tried contacting the officials in the scholarship department of NDDC and all we receive are rude responses giving us the impression we are begging for alms. Particularly one Mrs Sotonye, who is always so rude on the phone whenever she chooses to answer calls to her phone and would never reply text messages sent to her.

My question is how do you send students abroad without giving them a dime for over 5 months? If there is no money for the scholarship why then send people out in the first instance? But surely this is not the case as tuition fees had already been paid. The idea of the scholarship is to relieve our parents of the financial burden of furthering our education because we are mostly not from wealthy homes. We have been forced to finds jobs even though these jobs cannot pay for our monthly house rent. The NDDC is not broke as to to say they cannot afford to send us our allowances. It is sad to see corruption has killed every conscience in people as can be exemplified by NDDC officials in charge of the scholarship whom I wonder if they would love their children to be treated as such.

With the recent ban by the CBN on the use of naira cards you can only imagine our plights as even our parents are helpless towards our situation. It is our hope the president GMB and the new acting chairman of the NDDC Mrs. Ibim Seminitari will quickly come to our aid.

It is our prayers that the bad eggs in the NNDC whom have continually denied us our monthly allowances for months now will be investigated and prosecuted so that future beneficiaries of the scholarship wont be allowed to go through the torture we are currently going through. Sometimes I feel regret... I feel regret because how do I bring out the best in me when i have to constantly remind myself that my next day food is not guaranteed coupled with the load of course work I have to battle at night after school.

It is sad to see that the NDDC has truly failed. One cannot only but imagine that maybe allowances meant for us have been diverted for personal gains.
