Na’ima Hamza 14-year-old physically-challenged girl in Shuwarin, Kiyawa LGA of Jigawa, has so far received 20 wheelchairs and three sewing machines as gifts from donors. .

The latest donors are two philanthropists, Messrs. Chidi Okereke and Aliyu Ibrahim Gebi, who donated eight wheelchairs and N20,000 to her.

Na’ima drew public attention on May 20 when she wept profusely after failing to get a wheelchair donated by the National Youths Service Corps.

Zainab Shuaibu, who represented the donors, presented the items and the cash gift of N20,000 to the girl on Thursday (today) in Shuwarin. According to her, two of the wheelchairs were donated by Gebi, an Abuja-based businessman.

She said the two philanthropists, after reading Na’ima’s emotional story, volunteered to assist her, including helping to pay her school fees.

Also speaking, the father of the girl, Malam Hamza Muhammad, thanked the donors for their show of love and solidarity. He said the family was overjoyed by the response and show of love to their daughter “who is now full of life.”

Commenting, the District Head of Shuwarin, Abubakar Abdullahi, in whose palace the items were presented to the girl, commended the donors for the kind gesture.

NYSC Coordinator in Jigawa, Mr. Michael Amulo, who also witnessed the presentation, commended the donors for their support to the girl.

Amulo recalled that the girl’s emotional response, widely reported in the media, prompted the D-G of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Sule Kazaure, CONTEC Global Foundation and some individuals to come to her aid.

The girl had since received over 20 wheelchairs, 3 tricycles, 3 sewing machines, an expensive cell phone and two scholarship awards from individuals and a NGO.

The 14-year-old primary four pupil who had since resumed school was seen among her mates telling her life changing story.

The girl said she was overwhelmed with the love shown to her by Nigerians, and promised to also donate some of the wheelchairs to other physically challenged persons like her.

Benue State Police Command has uncovered an illegal firearms factory at Tse-Tyungu, Kyado District of Ukum LGA; arrested three suspects, with several finished and unfinished firearms recovered.

According to Benue state Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, said the discovery was made following a tip-off. He said the prime suspect in the business, now at large, had been into the manufacturing of the weapons for long, which were being sold to buyers in the state and other parts of the country.

“Following the arrest of one Felix at Assasi in North Bank area of Makurdi town on May 24, based on reliable information, the suspect confessed to being a distributor and had sold a locally-made Beretta pistol to one Bishop in Abuja for N40,000. .

Two suspects, 25-year-old Tyowa and 18-year-old Aondoyavenga, were arrested at the plant. Items and exhibits recovered from the factory include one carbon cylinder, one gas cylinder, one Sumec generating set, one Dane gun, one fabricated Beretta pistol, one filing machine, one drilling machine, two saws, one tool box, one jute bag containing tools and a motorcycle.”

A court in the Southern District of Mississippi court has sentenced 3 Nigerians who scammed their victim on dating site to 235 years huge prison sentence.

Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan, 30, was sentenced to 95 years in prison; Rasaq Aderoju Raheem, 31, was given 115 years and Femi Alexander Mewase, 45, got 25 years behind bars.

The trio were charge guilty for crimes including mail fraud, wire fraud, identity theft, credit card fraud and theft of government property. .

Ayelotan and Raheem were also found guilty of conspiracies to commit bank fraud and money laundering. Dating back to at least 2001, the scammers were involved in multiple internet fraud schemes, resulting in losses in the tens of millions.

A whopping 21 defendants have already been charged in this ongoing case, 12 of whom have pleaded guilty to charges involving conspiracy and 11 of whom have been sentenced. .

The three Nigerians were among the six extradited from South Africa by US Department of Justice in 2015 to face charges of running a series of scams against gullible Americans over the past 16 years. .

Fourteen others resident in the US were also arrested to face trial in Gulfport, Mississippi on nine federal charges, including conspiracy to commit identity theft, wire fraud, bank fraud, theft of US government funds, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Kidnappers Abduct 6 Student In Igbonla Model School at around 5:00 am this morning.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni in company of top police officers in the state led a search and rescue team to the school and adjoining waterways as well as forest in search of the gun men.

Source at the scene of the incident disclosed that the kidnappers used the Imeru/Iji waterway to access the swampy forest bordering the school, bore a hole on a part of the school fence to gain entrance into the school compound.

Mr. Owoseni, who was at the school very early in the morning, appealed for calmness from parents and guardian of the kidnapped school children to enable security agencies focus on rescue operations.

The CP further added that security agencies were intensifying efforts towards ensuring safety and security of the good people of Lagos, stressing that useful information from members of the public would be invaluable to the team’s efforts.

A one-eyed goat born in Assam, India, last week is being seen as a blessing by its owner.

The kid was born May 10 with only one eye, one ear and barely a nose, thanks to a condition called cyclopia that occurs in the womb when the brain’s two hemisphere do not separate.

Usually animals with the condition die within hours after being born, but this goat has defied expectations,

The one-eyed goat is attracting a lot of attention to the farm where it was born, and that pleases Mukhuri Das, the goat’s owner.

“I was shocked. It’s like a miracle and people have been coming to our place to see this baby goat,” he told Barcroft TV. “It might be something from God that the baby goat was born in our house.”


Das believes the one-eyed animal is bringing luck to his family ― and he’s not kidding around.

“So many people are coming to our place to see this baby goat,” he said. “We are happy that it’s making us famous.”

Das said he has been feeding the one-eyed goat like a normal animal, even though it has shorter than normal upper jaw and is missing some teeth.

Regional bodies, the Peoples Democratic Party, civil rights groups and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria among others, on Wednesday, urged military officers and other individuals toying with the idea of a coup in Nigeria to perish the thought.

Also, two Civil-Society Organisations – Committee for the Defence of Human Rights and the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders – condemned the alleged romance between some Nigerians and a soldiers for political reasons.

In separate interviews with the press on Wednesday, they declared that coups were no longer fashionable.

The Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, however, warned Buratai not to turn himself to a whistle-blower.

They spoke against the backdrop of a warning by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, who alleged, on Tuesday, that some people were approaching soldiers for political reasons, warning the soldiers, who might heed such overtures of serious consequences.

A statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, on Tuesday, stated, “This is to inform the public that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. T. Y. Buratai, has received information that some individuals have been approaching some officers and soldiers for undisclosed political reasons. On the basis of that, he has warned such persons to desist from these acts.”

Although Buratai did not elaborate on the political reasons, there had been fears by some Nigerians that such hobnobbing is a bad omen and may lead to a military intervention.

Curiously also, the COAS warning came a week after a major shakeup in the top echelons of the Army.

A doctor at Lankao hospital China was caught punching his nurse gril friend on CCTV Camera. CCTV footage shows the pair arguing immediately after the patient was wheeled out following surgery.

Witnesses at the Lankao County hospital in Henan Province claimed the surgeon accused his lover of violating protocol during the operation and the fight broke out after she denied it.

The clip, viewed more than 4 million times on Chinese social media, shows the nurse appearing to strike first, hitting her doctor boyfriend who is still fully kitted in his scrubs.

But he quickly retaliates after being hit and ends up punching his lover numerous times in the head until she collapses on the operating theatre floor. The violence continues for several more seconds before they are convinced to stop by their colleagues.

One Africa Music Fest was sold out and a complete shutdown in SSE Arena, Wembley London.The show was promoted and announced to start off at 7pm, and on the event venue website everything was set.

Due to a football game happening at the Wembley Stadium with a kickoff time of 5.15pm, concert goers were told to arrive early enough to get the show started, and prevent traffic congestion and issues with accessing the venue but the organisers shot themselves in the foot by starting over an hour late.

In Nigeria, this would not have been a problem. We are an uncultured and unpunctual people who have been enabled by a lawless society to get away with everything. That’s why we have African time, and ‘Nigerian time’

But this was not Lagos and Eko Hotel where you can get away with anything. At Eko Hotels & Suites, event organisers have been known to start shows 3-4 hours after the promoted time, and nothing will happen. The shows will then be stretched into the early hours of the morning. At the Headies 2014, the show actually ended by 4am.

No fewer than 57,000 candidates sat for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Saturday in 642 centres across the Nigeria.

Saturday marked the first day of the 2017 edition of the entrance examination into the nation’s tertiary institution in which no fewer than 1.7 million candidates are participating.

The Registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, who addressed journalists at Digital Bridge Institute, Abuja, one of the UTME centres, said four centres encountered technical problems while one was being investigated for malpractices.

Mr. Oloyede also said the morning session examination commenced late in some centres, and started early in others.

“Out of 642 centres, we had problems with four in Bauchi, Kano, Uturu and Ekpoma.

“Everything was okay, there was a little disturbance in Ekpoma and we are monitoring what is going on.
“There was a little problem in Uturu; we are monitoring what is happening there too,’’ he said.

He said due to the bomb blast in Maiduguri on Friday night, JAMB decided to delay the examination for a while, adding that the examination had since commenced.

“Due to what happened over night and because of the militarisation of the campus, we had to delay the commencement of the exams in Maiduguri.

”Also the Seventh Day Adventist will not have exams in all the centres nationwide on Saturday,’’ he added.

Enobong Bassey, a staff of the Digital Bridge Institute, said this year’s edition of the UTME was the best so far that the institution had conducted.

“Everything went smoothly, the examination was to start 8 am and all the students were seated by 10 minutes to eight.

“Though a few students came late because of the grace period, they were able to write.

“Where there was any issue with any system, there was no problem because we had sufficient backup system.

Some of the students, who spoke to NAN, said the examination went on well and they had no challenge using the computers.

Mercy Aigbe: "I Want My Estranged Husband To Sign An Undertaking That Nothing Will Happen To Me"

Nollywood actress and victim of domestic violence Mercy Aigbe has said that she wants her estranged husband, Lanre Gentry to sign an undertaking that he will not come near her, adding that he had sent thugs to her house.

She made this known in an interview with PUNCH’s Saturday Beats.

Lanre, who is currently in Kirikiri Prisons was accused of physically abusing the actress.

Mercy reported the case to the police when she could no longer keep quiet.

“The case is no longer between my husband and I. It is now between the Office of the Public Defender, Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and my husband. The officer is the one handling the case.

I cannot be washing my dirty linen in public and that is why I do not want to go into details of my marriage. It is not in my place to send him to jail. I only reported to the appropriate authorities and I just need him to show remorse for what he has done to me. He does not know the gravity of what he has done to me, the pains that I feel right now and the trauma I have gone through.

I am still in pains and I am bleeding internally because I am still coughing out blood. Instead of him to be remorseful, he was busy going online to say all sorts of things about me and concocting lies. He has been fabricating stories to taint my image because he knows I am the one with a reputation at stake. I intentionally did not say anything even though I have proof of everything I have to say. Instead of my husband to show some sense of responsibility and own up to what he did, he was busy dragging my name in the mud,” Mercy said.

On why she stayed

I endured all the things that I went through in his hands because of my children and also because of the fact that people look up to me as a role model. I have been through a lot and I pray and fast a lot so that things would go on smoothly. I have been praying and enduring a lot but this last time, the beating was brutal and he almost killed me.

On Allegations of Promiscuity

Before I got married, there was no scandal about me being promiscuous, no one could say that I was sleeping around; so why would I now do such as a married woman? If I were that promiscuous like he claims, how come no journalist has ever reported such stories about me? I have been working so hard to build my brand and now he wants to rubbish it.

On her estranged husband’s anger management “problem”

The problem with him is that he cannot control his anger and I have advised him on several occasions to see a therapist or enrol in anger management class to learn how to control his temper but he refused. He gets violent whenever he is angry and that is his problem. There is no way a couple would not fight but it does not always have to lead to physical violence. On that fateful day, he hit my head on the wall just because I found out that he was having an affair with someone very close to me and we had an argument.

He came to beat me at my tailor’s place. He even beat my make-up artiste and broke her hand. It was from that place that I was rushed to the hospital very late that night. When he was beating me, he was acting as if he was possessed. Ever since he had been beating me, he had never beaten me to this extent. It was as if he had made up his mind to kill me or blind me so that my career would end. I don’t know why he is doing all this. I have offered to take him to church but whenever we get there, he would refuse to enter. I tried all my best. If only he went for therapy, all this would not have happened and I don’t have to stay with him till he kills me. Imagine if I had died that day, I wonder what kind of cover up story he would have released to the public.

Mercy made it clear that she is fighting for her life adding that she wants him to sign an undertaking that he’d not come close to her.

“I am fighting for my life because if I die there would be no image to protect. I just want him to sign an undertaking that nothing would happen to me because a man who is capable of sending thugs to the house is capable of anything. Someone who can set me up and lie that I have mental illness can do anything. He should sign the undertaking and we should go our different ways. If not, I would leave the case to the appropriate agency and the law would take its full course,” she said.

It's not the first time Bow Wow has been caught out on social media. In a now-deleted tweet last November, he claimed to have passed up the chance to watch the Atlanta Falcons play from a private suite as he was too tired from filming a TV show.

Fans quickly pointed out that the NFL team had a bye week when he posted the claim, making the suite offer unlikely.

But not long later, a Snapchat post emerged alleging the rapper was actually on a standard commercial flight at the same time he bragged and put his jet photo on Instagram.

Eagle-eyed fans soon traced the original Instagram post back to a stock photo of a private plane used by a Fort Lauderdale limousine company. However, Bow Wow added a filter to that image before posting it.

Social media users worldwide have been less reserved, with the #bowwowchallenge proving popular.

It involves users posting a pair of images side-by-side, with the first seemingly a glamorous representation of their life and the second image depicting the harsh reality.

Faith Sunday John has been arrested by the lagos state task force operative for impersonation. Faith who hails from Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State was arrested today while extorting money from some NURTW in Oshodi, Lagos State.

32 years old Faith Sunday claimed he was an inspector of police attached to Ikeja Police Station.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both the cardigan and identity card found with him, belonged to his late father who was an Assistant Superintendent of Police before he died last year in Lagos.
He removed his late father’s passport from the Nigerian Police Force identity card and re-laminated his own passport on it.

According to the suspect “I was working with a security company (King David Security Limited) before my father died last year.

The owing of several salary arrears by this company prompted me using my late father’s Nigerian Police uniform and identity cards to extort money from Lagosians at night around Oshodi."

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, is currently presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

This is the first federal executive council meeting after President Buhari made a return to London for medical treatment and the fifth meeting that will be held in his absence.

The meeting started at about 10 am at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, according to The PUNCH reports.
