I also ask that question..

Do you know in one year alone judges make billions from bail bounds but nobody can give account of that money.

Wow!!!! 600 million for bail that is crazy. However El-Rufai can meet up. But a poor man will die in custody. This judges are bunch of rogues.
PoliticsEl-rufai Gets Bail; by Ironfaceman(op): 6:09pm On Apr 14
Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, on Tuesday secured bail from a Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna, bringing to an end a detention that lasted nearly two months

Meanwhile, a Kaduna State High Court adjourned ruling on a separate bail application to April 21.

Delivering the ruling, Justice Rilwan Aikawa granted the former governor bail after hearing arguments from both the defence and prosecution.

However, but ordered that he remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions

El-Rufai’s lead counsel, Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), had urged the court to admit his client to bail, arguing that it is a constitutional right and that the former governor has strong ties within Nigeria, making him unlikely to abscond.

However, the prosecution, led by the ICPC, opposed the application, citing concerns that the defendant could interfere with witnesses or obstruct ongoing investigations if released

Bail conditions

The court subsequently granted bail with stringent conditions, including a N200 million bond with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are to include a recognised traditional ruler and a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 15. Other conditions include the submission of landed property documents, deposit of international passports with the court, and a restriction on public comments relating to the case, among others

A family member of the former governor, Bello El-Rufai, told journalists that efforts were underway to meet the conditions

The conditions are many, close to 10 or more, but we hope to fulfil them,” he said.

The ICPC had, on March 18, filed a 10-count charge against El-Rufai at the Federal High Court bordering on alleged conversion and possession of public property, money laundering, and abuse of office.

El-Rufai’s legal ordeal began on February 16, when he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Although he was initially granted bail, he was subsequently re-arrested by the ICPC and remained in custody for several weeks before his arraignment

On March 27, the ICPC granted him temporary release on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma.El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt

He was, however, returned to custody after her burial.

Proceedings were further complicated when the defence filed a motion asking Justice Aikawa to recuse himself over alleged bias, a request that was later withdrawn

But he will fail woefully.
PoliticsMahdi Shehu Tells Amupitan To Resign As INEC Chairman by Ironfaceman(op): 4:34pm On Apr 13
Activist Mahdi Shehu has called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging bias and misconduct.

Shehu made the call in a post shared on X on Monday, where he accused the INEC chairman of actions he described as damaging to public trust in the electoral body.

He said the situation surrounding the commission’s leadership was serious and warned that continued silence on the matter could further erode confidence in the institution.

According to him, “Either BAT and Amupitan do not understand the gravity of the situation surrounding the INEC chairman’s current scandal, or they are testing the patience of Nigerians.”

He also criticised what he described as the president’s silence on calls for the chairman’s removal.

BAT has decided to remain silent and mute on the genuine calls for the INEC chairman to resign in the overriding interest of democracy.”

Shehu further alleged that the INEC chairman had been involved in controversial actions linked to his social media activity, including claims about changes to his X account and questions about past political expression.

He claimed the electoral chief had attempted to defend himself by denying ownership of certain online accounts and suggesting impersonation, adding that such explanations were not convincing.

INEC chairman may deploy all the tactics at his disposal but resign he will because there is no option to that. If Tinubu refuses to sack INEC chairman, he will lose more than INEC which may not be his wish,” he added.

“If the INEC chairman refuses to step down, he risks losing far more than his position, just as President Bola Tinubu may also suffer political consequences.

"In the end, both men stand to lose, as growing public anger continues to overshadow the situation. It is only a matter of time, as many Nigerians have already lost trust and confidence in the INEC chairman, viewing him as biased, lacking integrity, and failing to uphold the ethical standards expected of his profession.

"He who goes to equity must go with clean hands,” he wrote.

Pope Leo has said he has "no fear" of the Trump administration and will continue to speak out against war after the US president launched an unusual and scathing attack over his stance on the Iran conflict.
Wow. I think Nigerian General overseers (GO) should borrow a leaf from pope leo.

JD Vance Vpotus is Catholic and pope Leo is American.
Think like this if both characters were Nigerian, by now the Pope will be singing the president's praise.

Pope Leo could have gotten anything he wants through JD Vance but he chose to lead by example.

In Nigeria most of the general overseers have diversified into business.

Some are building schools, some are building hotels, some are building fast food and restaurants, some are building estates, some are stinkingly reach.

But no t one of them can have the courage of pope Leo to call our broken and corrupt government to order.

They will play along with occultic politicians and even collect money from them for prayers. They have become modern day PHARISEE.
Foreign AffairsPope Says He Has 'no Fear' Of Trump After Scathing Criticism by Ironfaceman(op): 1:18pm On Apr 13
Pope Leo has said he has "no fear" of the Trump administration and will continue to speak out against war after the US president launched an unusual and scathing attack over his stance on the Iran conflict.

Donald Trump accused the pontiff of being "WEAK on Crime and terrible for Foreign Policy" in a Truth Social post, later telling reporters he was "not a big fan".

The Pope told reporters en route to Algeria that he did not want to get into a debate with Trump but would continue to promote peace.

He has been a staunch critic of the Iran war, calling Trump's threat to destroy Iranian civilisation "unacceptable" and calling for him to find an "off-ramp" to end the conflict

.In general, it is rare for a pope to directly address statements by world leaders.

There are more than 70 million Catholics in the US, about 20% of the population. They include Trump's Vice-President JD Vance.

Trump's remarks came as the pontiff embarked on an 11-day trip to Africa, his second major foreign trip since being elected last year.

The US president wrote in Sunday's post that the Pope "should get his act together" and said he was "weak on nuclear weapons", apparently referring to Tehran's attempts to become a nuclear power, cited as one of the reasons for the US and Israel going to war with Iran.

He also suggested that the pontiff was elected "because he was American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J Trump".

"If I wasn't in the White House, Leo wouldn't be in the Vatican."

Asked by reporters to explain the post, he later said: "I don't think he's doing a very good job, he likes crime, I guess."

Trump added: "He's a very liberal person, and he's a man who doesn't believe in stopping crime, he's a man who doesn't believe we should be toying with a country that wants a nuclear weapon so they can blow up the world."

In response, the Pope told reporters on board his plane to Algiers that he did not see his role as that of a politician but as one of spreading the message of peace.

"I have no fear of the Trump administration, or speaking out loudly of the message of the gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do, what the Church is here to do," he told reporters.

"I don't want to get into a debate with [Trump]," he added.

"Too many people are suffering in the world today. Too many innocent people are being killed. And I think someone has to stand up and say: there's a better way to do this."

Trump's remarks also drew criticism from Catholics around the world, with one expert comparing the comments to the Pope's relationship with fascist dictators in World War Two.

"Not even Hitler or Mussolini attacked the Pope so directly and publicly," said Massimo Faggioli, quoted by Reuters.

The Pope has used numerous public addresses to denounce global conflicts and urge de-escalation in the Middle East.

When Trump threatened Iran, saying that "a whole civilisation will die tonight", he responded by saying the statement was "truly unacceptable".

The Pope has also criticised Trump's hard-line immigration policy, questioning whether it was possible for someone to be "pro-life" - a term normally associated with opponents of abortion - if they agreed with what he described as the "inhuman treatment of immigrants".

Pope Leo is seen as continuing the humanitarian tradition of his predecessor Pope Francis, who said Trump was "not Christian" during the 2016 election campaign because of his anti-immigrant language. Trump described the late Pope as "disgraceful".

"The Electoral Act is unambiguous,” he said. “Once a matter pertains strictly to the internal affairs of a political party—whether it involves congresses, leadership tussles, or candidate selection—the courts have no business intervening. PoliticsElectoral Act Breach: Retired Judge, SANs Knock Judges After NBA Outcry by Ironfaceman(op): 2:04pm On Apr 12
Concerns have been raised over what many senior lawyers and retired judicial officers describe as a troubling pattern of judicial interference in the internal affairs of political parties.

The growing anxiety follows a series of recent court decisions, particularly those linked to the leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress, which critics argue appear to contradict the clear provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.

At the centre of the debate is Section 83 of the Electoral Act, which explicitly bars courts from entertaining cases relating strictly to the internal affairs of political parties.

Despite this provision, several rulings in recent months have reignited concerns about the judiciary’s role in political disputes, prompting reactions from legal stakeholders and professional bodies

The Nigerian Bar Association had, in a statement on Friday signed by its President, Afam Osigwe (SAN), warned that continued judicial involvement in intra-party matters could undermine democratic principles and erode public confidence in the judiciary

According to the NBA, the recent developments raise serious constitutional and rule-of-law concerns that require urgent attention.

These developments, particularly those arising from the interpretation and potential application of provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, raise serious constitutional, democratic, and rule-of-law concerns that require immediate intervention,” the statement read in part.

The association further criticised what it described as the “disturbing involvement” of lawyers and courts in matters that are expressly excluded from judicial jurisdiction.

“We particularly deprecate the disturbing involvement by lawyers and courts in the internal affairs of political parties despite the clear provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026,” Osigwe stated, referencing Section 83, which stipulates that no court shall entertain suits pertaining to party internal affairs".

Retired justice raises alarm

A retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the trend as a direct violation of the law and warned of its implications for Nigeria’s democratic stability

"The Electoral Act is unambiguous,” he said. “Once a matter pertains strictly to the internal affairs of a political party—whether it involves congresses, leadership tussles, or candidate selection—the courts have no business intervening. Section 83 was deliberately crafted to prevent exactly what we are witnessing today.”

According to the retired jurist, the increasing willingness of some courts to assume jurisdiction in such matters suggests a deeper institutional problem within the judiciary

This is not judicial activism; it is judicial overreach,” he added. “If not urgently addressed, it could delegitimise the judiciary in the eyes of the public.”

He also expressed concern over the growing incidence of conflicting court orders, describing the trend as “embarrassingly frequent” and dangerous for the rule of law

We now see situations where one court grants an order and another court of coordinate jurisdiction sets it aside or issues a contrary order. This creates confusion, encourages forum shopping, and ultimately weakens the rule of law,” he said.

The ex-justice warned that if political actors begin to perceive the judiciary as a tool to secure favourable outcomes, courts could lose their credibility as impartial arbiters

When political actors realise they can shop for favourable judgments, the courts become battlegrounds rather than temples of justice. That is dangerous for democracy,” he added.

SANs back NBA stance

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olu Daramola, aligned with the NBA’s position, describing the concerns raised by the association as both legally and logically sound.

You've had nearly 800 ships stuck in there for several weeks. Most of them are now loaded with cargo so the priority is going to be to get them out."
This is scary, I hope a resolution is reached so as to allow easy passage.
Foreign AffairsHow Many Ships Are Crossing The Strait Of Hormuz? by Ironfaceman(op): 5:31pm On Apr 11
The Strait of Hormuz has become a focal point of the US-Israel war with Iran after Tehran effectively choked off one of the world's most important shipping lanes

A two-week US-Iran ceasefire agreed on Tuesday included a condition that "safe passage" through the narrow waterway would be guaranteed.

However, vessels in the area have received messages that they would be "targeted and destroyed" if they attempted to cross the strait without permission, and only a few ships have made the journey over the past three days.

By 17:00 BST on 10 April only 19 ships had been tracked passing through the strait since the ceasefire.

Of these, four were tankers carrying either oil, gas or chemicals. The rest are listed as bulk carriers or container ships of various types.

That's based on BBC Verify analysis of ship-tracking data from MarineTraffic. Other ships have made the journey without broadcasting their location.

That compares to an average of 138 ships passing through the strait each day before the conflict started on 28 February.

The disruption to shipping since the conflict began five weeks ago has sent shock waves across the global economy, destabilising energy prices and exposing just how reliant international supply chains are on the channel that connects the Gulf with the Indian Ocean.

Shipping analysts say vessel owners will remain cautious about crossing the strait until the situation becomes clearer.

"Most shipping lines would want to get details and reassurances on what it actually takes to transit and those details are not available," Lars Jensen from Vespucci Maritime told the BBC.

Richard Meade, editor-in-chief of Lloyd's List says it has been a "very dangerous" time for ship owners who still face a huge amount of uncertainty.

"We know Iran is essentially still in control of the strait, and the assumption is that ship owners will still need to seek permission from the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps]… and how that's going to work is still not clear."

BBC Verify's analysis of the paths taken by the ships shows them taking a northern route through the strait close to Iran's coastline, within its territorial waters.

Prior to the conflict, vessels usually took a more southerly route through the middle of the waterway.

'Nearly 800 ships stuck'

If crossings do resume at a greater pace, Meade expects stranded tankers that are fully loaded with cargo will be the priority.

"You've had nearly 800 ships stuck in there for several weeks. Most of them are now loaded with cargo so the priority is going to be to get them out."

The duration of the ceasefire - set to last two weeks - also brings uncertainty for ships, says Niels Rasmussen, a shipping analyst from BIMCO.

"I doubt there will be a large influx of ships into the Gulf… because they do not want to risk being trapped after the two-week window closes."

Another uncertainty is the possibility of sea mines, says Thomas Kazakos, secretary general of the International Chamber of Shipping.

"We need to make sure that we have clear confirmation that the safety of navigation for the ships and the seafarers are being agreed," he told BBC Verify.

Toll payments

On top of these concerns, ships face the uncertainty of possibly having to make payments to Iran in order to secure safe passage - following reports that tolls may be a part of the ceasefire deal.

"The Iranian negotiation position seems to be that you need to pay a toll to go through the strait and shipping lines will also be hesitant in going down the path of paying that toll," says Jensen.

Congress (ADC), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has said President Bola Tinubu has no realistic chance of securing re-election in 2027.

Rhodes-Vivour, who was the Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State in the 2023 election, made the assertion while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday

“I have looked at data, we have polling that is going on now, credible polling—there is no pathway for the president to emerge victorious, that is why we are seeing all these shenanigans,” he said.

He further argued that the president’s electoral support base, particularly in northern Nigeria, has significantly weakened.

“There is no pathway for him. When you look at the North that gave him 62 per cent of his votes, you see the tsunami that is happening in the North,” Rhodes-Vivour added.

The Lagos politician also criticised the composition of the current administration, alleging that governance has been concentrated among a narrow circle.

You have a president that created a government system that is just for the city boys. It is a city boys’ government. It’s not even a proper South-West government; it’s his cronies that are just in charge,” he said.

Rhodes-Vivour linked the ongoing crisis within opposition parties, including the ADC, to what he described as a deliberate strategy by the ruling government.

According to him, the president is attempting to weaken opposition structures ahead of the next election cycle.

“So, the best pathway is to create an environment where he is the only candidate on the ballot for the presidency. That is what he is trying to achieve, but he is not going to succeed,” he stated.

His comments come amid tensions within the ADC following the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its portal as the party’s national chairman and secretary, respectively.

The move, which INEC said was based on a court order, has been rejected by the party’s leadership.

Earlier this week, prominent opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi, led a protest at INEC headquarters in Abuja, calling for electoral accountability.

The demonstration attracted hundreds of supporters, highlighting growing political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
