FIFA will award three points and three goals to Lesotho following South Africa's 2-0 win in their 2026 World Cup qualifier match, after South Africa fielded an ineligible player, Theboho Mokoena. Mokoena was meant to serve a suspension after receiving two yellow cards in previous matches, against Benin Republic and Zimbabwe, yet he played in the match in Polokwane. As a result, South Africa forfeits the three points from the game and is also penalized with the addition of three goals for Lesotho. Despite Lesotho initially filing a complaint with FIFA over the matter, rumors suggest the complaint may have been withdrawn. Nigerian football lawyer Jonas Michael shared a similar experience, recalling that Nigeria suffered the same penalty in 2018 after fielding an ineligible player, Shehu Abdullahi, in a dead rubber World Cup qualifier against Algeria. FIFA awarded Algeria three points and three goals in accordance with the rules, even though Algeria did not file a protest. Michael explained that the rules are clear, stating, “If you’re South African, just deduct three points from your team’s tally. I expect people from Lesotho to do the same. There’s no need for a protest or a specific time to lodge one. FIFA’s decision follows the established rules, and the punishment is clear.” He also responded to claims in South Africa that technicalities might work in their favor, saying, “That’s not true. South Africa has lost those points, and they’ll be deducted three goals. A fine is likely to follow as well.” This ruling has reshaped the group standings, leaving the race to qualify for the World Cup wide open. Zimbabwe, now at the bottom, is just four points behind South Africa, who remain at the top with four matches remaining. https://www.graphic.com.gh/sports/sports-news/world-cup-qualifiers-south-africa-lose-3-points-3-goals-for-fielding-ineligible-player-against-lesotho.html

In a video seen by SaharaReporters on Tuesday, he threatened that failure to do so would lead to retaliatory attacks against Southerners residing in the North. Aman from northern Nigeria has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, demanding swift action to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing of 16 Northerners in Uromi, Edo State. In a video seen by SaharaReporters on Tuesday, he threatened that failure to do so would lead to retaliatory attacks against Southerners residing in the North. In the three-minute, 30-second video obtained by SaharaReporters, the unidentified man expressed his concerns over the killings, stating that Northerners would not remain patient in the face of such attacks. He implied that any reprisals in the North should be blamed on Southerners. While condemning those who seek justice for Deborah Samuel, a student who was burned alive in Sokoto State over alleged blasphemy, he defended her killing by claiming she had insulted the Prophet Muhammad. He questioned why Christians in the South would criticise the incident, arguing that Northerners had never insulted Jesus Christ. He further stated that in Islam, a Muslim who insults Jesus ceases to be a Muslim, as Prophet Isa (Jesus) is recognised as a messenger of Allah. The man explained the religious differences between Muslims and Christians, stating that while Christians regard Jesus as God, Muslims recognise him solely as a prophet and messenger of Allah. He warned that if no action is taken against those responsible for the killings in Edo, any retaliatory violence against Southerners in the North should be blamed on Southern leaders, including Tinubu and Okpebholo. Addressing President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo directly, he reminded them that there are many Southerners residing in Northern states such as Borno, Kano, Jos, Kaduna, and Adamawa. He threatened that any consequences arising from the Uromi killings would be attributed to them, irrespective of whether the Southerners affected are from Edo or elsewhere. According to him, "Good morning, my fellow Nigerians. So I have seen a lot of people complaining that justice for Deborah, justice for Deborah. So if you haven't forgotten the southerners, Deborah was not killed just for no reason. Deborah was killed because she abused the Holy Prophets, our prophets. Our beloved Prophet. Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. "Have you ever seen any Northerners abusing Jesus, no. There is no any Northerners that have abuses Jesus, no, it has never happened. But those stupid Christians among you, the stupid among you, the dumpest among you abused the Holy Prophet and you think that we will keep quiet and see. "That is the law anybody that abuse our Prophet, he or she will be killed. We have never abuse Jesus and we will never because. Let me tell you something that you don't know, in Islam, that is our religion. If you abuse Jesus, you are no more a Muslim. That is Prophet Isa peace be upon him. As we kno w him bit Jesus but his name is Prophet Isa." Migrants overstaying their UK visas set to be deported Migrants who overstay their visas will be removed from the UK, a minister has pledged after data showed they account for nearly 40% of asylum claims. Border Security Minister Angela Eagle told Times Radio: “We inherited the system we inherited with a 70% fall in any kind of processing with 100,000 people in dispersal accommodation or hotels who weren’t even being processed by the previous government.” She added: “When they came in on a visa they actually told us that they had the means to exist in the country without relying on public funds.” Asked if visa overstayers would be removed from taxpayer-funded housing, Eagle said: “They will certainly and if they’re overstaying they’ll be removed from the country.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/03/migrants-overstaying-their-uk-visas-set-to-be-deported/

Rome CNN — At least 17 Tesla cars were destroyed after a fire broke out at a dealership on the outskirts of Rome on Monday morning, according to Italian fire officials. No one was at the dealership when the fire broke out and no injuries have been reported. Rome’s fire service said it was investigating “all avenues” while looking into how the fire started, but it did not rule out arson. Local police said officers interviewed the dealership owners and are looking at surveillance footage. The fire comes after a string of reports across Italy in recent weeks of Tesla vehicles being vandalized and defaced, with anti-Elon Musk and anti-Donald Trump sentiments written with spray paint. Another car dealership burned down in northern Rome a week ago, destroying 30 cars, including used Teslas. That fire was initially blamed on an electrical fault, but an investigation is underway. Also in Rome, several Teslas in the Garbatella neighborhood, where Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni grew up, were defaced, according to police and social media posts. Meloni and Musk are self-described close friends, but the Italian leader has not commented on the vandalism. Tesla dealerships in Milan have also been targeted by environmental groups in recent weeks. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/31/europe/tesla-cars-fire-rome-intl/index.html

Workers demand, big big salary. You go pay tire. Heavy taxation, from federal government to state government to area boys. Only an upright thinking government can change this. |
