Some of those pictures are kind of risque, no? If you're not looking at the shoes, that is. undecided
PoliticsRe: National Confab: Why We Won’t Discuss Breaking Up Nigeria By Sen. Femi Okurounmu by isalegan2: 9:52pm On Oct 27, 2013
naijababe: I do not want Nigeria to break up, I really don't. Anything but this nonsense called Unitarianism would do abeg!
I wasn't totally serious, babe. Pulling your leg as I'm wont.

But what was that about the North being most disadvantaged, yet they benefit most from the nation? I hear that polemic a lot - in one breath, "they're all atorobara, AND they rule this country and have all the money and power." undecided

naijababe: Ok. Let me break it down to you! I am a commoner but I am aware of consequences of my choices.
P.S. And you ain't no Commoner. wink Hmmm. So humble. So modest. grin As God is my witness, thou shall unite all Aworis and. . .become the most celebrated Nigerian/Ooduan governor there ever was. cheesy

Katsumoto: what? Isale's samba shoes?
Those ugly shoes aren't mine!

Blacksta was the one talking about Samba shoes (above) or Samba dancing shoes (below).

A break is irreversible. Do you want Regionalism, Confederacy, or total Disintegration?
Those people are 100% certain that they do not want war, so please do not make choices which could lead to war for them. Have mercy ma.
As long as we put the women in charge, this will be resolved without armed conflict. Gba bee! cool

And we still have a few weeks to go before NL's seasonal guerrilla war. undecided

PoliticsRe: Where Is Prof Soyinka by isalegan2: 8:11pm On Oct 27, 2013
No vex. Soyinka hurt my feelings when he decided to publicly fight the first lady in a thuggish manner. He didn't have to get in the gutters with her.
Actually, I think he is saying it is Soyinka's comment about another man's wife that is disappointing, not your post. At least, that's my opinion.

I can never support the demonisation of these politicians' wives. She is a wife and mother. Unless she holds a policy-making elected/appointed position, there is no excuse for turning any spouse into a public verbal punching bag simply for supporting their mate. Isn't that the vow they made when they got married? "Forsaken all others. . . in sickness and in health. . until death do us part"? Look what they did to President Gbagbo's wife simply because she would not abandon her husband to French invaders' bombs. Stop heaping your hatred on wives. Face the office-holder!

I can't remember the last time a man had to face this kind of attack due to his wife's office.

BTW, I'm not a GEJ supporter.

Anyway, Soyinka has always had good relations with Easterners, so I don't see where there is a fissure other than on Nairaland. undecided

PoliticsRe: National Confab: Why We Won’t Discuss Breaking Up Nigeria By Sen. Femi Okurounmu by isalegan2: 7:50pm On Oct 27, 2013
Katsumoto: That there is the reason why Northerners don't want Nigeria to break up.

Most Nigerians can't stand other Ethnic Groups but you want Nigeria to exist at all costs. I am not for disintegration but I most heartedly hate the reasons why disintegration is off the table.
@OP kindly change 111 to III at first read I thought you meant one hundred and eleven.
9jacrip: I don't know what the Alaafin stands to gain from throwing jabs at Ooni and Royal houses in Ile-Ife.
Understood he was a boxer but does this culminate into wanting to throw verbal punches since he longer practices is trade of eshe jija?
Oranmiyan was born in Ile-Ife, founded Benin then Oyo and returned to Ile-Ife where he ruled then died.
If Oyo wants to lay claim to Oranmiyan festival then Benin should also be able to lay claim.
Anyways, Moremi festival is celebrated in Ile-Ife and Offa respectively, Oyo can celebrate Oranmiyan while Ile-Ife does too without verbal punches being thrown around.
I would take this "reporting" with a grain of salt. Sun News is a tabloid, not journalism.

miqos02: . . While speaking at Aganju Fore Court of the ancient palace of the Alaafin, during the grand finale of the 2013 edition of the festival, . . .

. . .The grand finale of the week-long celebration attended by traditional rulers from across the Yorubaland and the Republic of Benin as well as top government functionaries, led by the state Deputy Governor, Moses Adeyemi witnessed diverse cultural displays and festival lecture.

Foreign AffairsWe Built This City: Nairalanding From The USA (LOUNGE) by isalegan2(op):
Just what it reads above.

Let's roll, if:
- You post on Nairaland,
- And you're in Yankee, which for our purposes refers to all of USA (and Planet Earth), not just New England. grin

What's the latest over here:
- Congress and government shutdown, now reopened at least till beginning of next year;
- Immigration Reform, which they will not do despite all their mouthing off;
- Slight winter has hit the S.E.;
- JeSoul still missing. shocked

Discuss anything and everything, not limited to just USA news.

A sort of "lounge," if you like. cheesy
